I found myself in a situation in a criminal court case against me on some trumped up drug charges. I was giving a Court appointed Public Defender. It seemed to me a clear cut illegal search and seizure. It went on and on for over a year. When it came down to it my public defender was transfered out to a another dept. and I was given a new public defender that had no idea about my case or what had gone on and this was for final judgement. I was in a no win situation and thought i had no options. I remembered Jim Hammond. I talked to him on the phone . Told my story. He told me to meet him the day of court and he took it from there. This man knows whats going on in court room. Once he took over I was relieved and felt i could breath again for the first time in a year. Everything was dropped to about nothing. My hats off to Jim Hammond.
I thank him for that day.

Had a bad crash with a semi tractor trailer rig who passed me by crossing over the double yellow lines on a very narrow country bridge approach with zero shoulder. Got knocked down by its tires and side swiped by a few of his trailer tires as a he motored by. Miracle I didn't get killed. I was out of hospital in 4 doors with some hairline fractures of pelvis and lots of scrapes and bruises etc. Had a total recovery and got a very good settlement from their insurance company. I was pleased with all.

I was biking on a suburban street when I was hit by a car. I wasn't sure how extensive my injuries would be or how long my recovery would take, and Michael encouraged me to be patient and not rush to settle the case.
I felt very pressured by the driver's insurance company to resolve the matter ... and it was such a relief to be able to tell them to contact my attorney.
Michael kept me informed of the case's progress and, when the company made a five-figure settlement offer, was able to put it in context so I could decide whether to accept it.
It was far, far greater than the amount I would have received if I'd attempted to handle this on my own.

Another attorney at Frudden and Padilla referred Riena Yu. I needed her for a restraining order, and it was very complicated and kept getting delayed. We worked together for six months. The opposing attorney was disrespectful towards the judge and Ms. Yu, but she remained poised and professional. Ms. Yu stayed by my side even when the case kept getting delayed. She spent a lot of time practicing with me and preparing me for the questions the judge and the other attorney may ask me. She encouraged, made me feel safe, and helped me stay strong when I wanted to give up. She was on top of it and very thorough and communicated with me regularly. Mr. John Kirke provided outstanding legal services as I was being sued by a much larger company who was trying to drown me in legal paperwork, a term called "crib death." Mr. Kirke was able to identify a significant weakness in their case and exploited that weakens into a very favorable settlement for me. Brian set up my parents' revocable trust, and helped me distribute my mother's estate when I became executor of same in March 2000. He later helped me set up my own will and trust. Let's face it: you never want to have to hire an attorney. But when someone has done you wrong and you need a sword, or someone else is coming after you and you need a shield, you have no choice.
When I end up in those situations, the two most important things I look for in an attorney is their deep knowledge of the law and an ability to understand the economics of the case. Richard does both of these better than any other attorney I have worked with.
In one case he handled for me his deep knowledge of the law allowed us to obtain critical damning evidence and present it to the judge while keeping it from the person who filed a frivolous claim against me. This tactic allowed us to win the case before we walked into the courtroom.
Most legal affairs boil down to money, and Richard understands clearly how the legal costs fit into the overall financial equation. In another case he handled for me he recommended a strategy that resulted in smaller fees for his firm, but was appropriate for the issue, and we won.
The last thing you want is to win the dispute, but spend so much in legal fees to win that you end up losing. Several lawyers with whom I have worked take this approach and do everything to maximize their billings. Richard doesn't do that - you can trust him to set the right legal and economic strategy for the issue and execute accordingly.
I hope that you never have to hire an attorney, but if you do, I strongly recommend that you hire Richard. I have worked with him several times over the last 20 years and gotten great results every time.

Wow, what an honor it is to write this review. Without him knowing, I contacted several law firms who were publicly known in the area and they all failed. For example, they talked to me instead of with me. Another example is that I felt like another number in line, and as though they had more important cases than mine.
Micah J. Clatterbaugh has been my go to ever since. I have had three instances where Micah assisted me. Each of those three cases, he allowed me to be the driver and respected my thoughts about the case. On one of the cases, we worked on it for over a year and we gathered all of the information needed. When it was time to sign the form, I decided to back out and I never felt like he pressured me to reconsider. On my second case, we spent at least 6 months working on it and when we were coming to the end of it, we both realized that addressing the issue in court was not in either of our interest anymore. On the third case, we spent just a few hours on and he said, "we don't have to meet up, just talk with me on the phone about it." He soon called my alleged person and followed up with an email; my alleged person fixed the issue on the spot.

Attorney Martin Putnam is your man if you get taken by a Used Car Salesman as I was. Mr. Putnam spoke to me in person over the phone, listened well to my situation, and asked some questions. After the Saleman refused to refund my money and take back a defective car which he misrepresented and, among other illegal things, posed safety hazzards (driver's door locks driver inside which prior attempts to fix were unsuccessful the Salesman admitted after I took the car and was locked in several times in a 3 days), Mr. Putnam made one phone call to the Car Lemon Salesman and got the issue settled instantaneously. I got my full refund and they took back their Lemon Car. My problem was resolved instantly because of Mr. Putnam's knowledge of the law and manner in dealing with law breakers who try to take unfair advantage of people like me. Mr. Putnam was incredibly kind and generous in his consideration of the terrible spot I was in and offered me a free consultation and one free phone call! Am I grateful!

First let me say that I am 69 years old, mostly retired business man and during my business career I had a reasonable amount of experience with attorneys. In point of fact at one time, we were involved in an anti-trust action which spread over 6 years. That was one contact with a large law firm, which did an outstanding job for us.
Mr. Flashman was referred to us by another firm. We needed an attorney to draw up referendum petitions for a citizens group which I headed up. It was essential that this be done quickly and correctly. He within a few days had the material to us. During this time he literally gave us an education on referendums, the pitfalls and possibilities to make sure we could gather the necessary signatures.
That we were successful was in no small measure due to his expertise. He along the way was able to give us counsel on environmental issues and other challenges. He has had a lot of experience with the referendum process, and it was so helpful.
At the end of this successful process, we elected to enter into negotiations and eventually reached an compromise agreement with the developer. Mr. Flashman became our attorney in drawing up the legal document for this agreement.
All along the way with was a period of about 8 months, he was on a very timely basis able to give us excellent advice.
I could not give a higher recommendation to anyone than what I offer for Mr. Flashman. On top of all of this, he fees were very reasonable, which for a citizens group always presents a problem since funds are very limited.

Atty Joseph Jung was most efficient and effective in resolving my collision case. His most favorable attributes are that you actually hear from him even after working hours (5pm) . He cares and listens. This is most evident when you have unanswered questions or concerns. Least favorable: When a settlement is made would it be possible to receive direct deposit so as not to have funds lost through the mail (did not happen in my experience).

I would have been unable together through the battle and stress of the legal mess and turbulent litigation being wrongfully attempted to be unseated in unlawful detainer action my property management company Hawthorn and Stone, Rob Cassil and untenable tactics of their lawyer. It became harrowing and complicated and Leah and her adept legal mind and work brought me through Appeal Court winning my case to save my home, a long held rent control in San Francisco. As a working person of not prolific means she truly is an activist that redress position in champion of those that would be crushed in taking advantage of by the greed and power that the system does not always support. Her legal work professionality commitment restored a sense of justice that I had been grievously wounded in. Ivan not speak of any Lawyer as higher than she and she is worth her weight in gold.

Mr. Woodruff represented me many years ago against a large survey company in a complicated boundary dispute problem. His handling of my case was exemplary on all counts: diligence, responsiveness, doggedness. His billing was in my opinion reasonable and fair and I doubt it fully reflected the actual number of hours he put into researching the issues involved to be able to negotiate on equal footing with opposing counsel.
