Our former attorney did not disclose his family had joint mineral right ownership with us concerning my uncle's estate. Feeling completely violated and betrayed due to this conflict of interest, my phone call to Beau Beard was the best decision I made. With integrity, honesty, and respect he picked up the pieces of our mess. He secured a fantastic gas and coal deal for us. Beau and his colleague Jaclyn Faulds had our complete trust. We learned so much from Beau's expertise in the gas and oil field. He was approachable and reachable providing top notch communication and efficiency. Communication and efficiency were both lacking with our former attorney, and our situation dragged on for months. Beau was more than fair with billing. We not only found the best for the job but finally someone we could trust.

I have worked with Jeff for the past 4+ years and cannot say enough good about his work product. He has kept me informed without unnessary details, has handled our litigation competently and successfully! He forged a very good working relationship with our field employees and witnesses for the company. I highly recommend Jeff's work.

I could not have hired a more productive attorney. She is honest, fair, and knowledgeable in her field of guardianship and gets the job done effectively. She did not "pad" my bill or waste any legal time. Honestly; taking into account her efforts and the results she obtained; the billing was very fair. Jeanne is VERY CAREFUL not to waste her client's funds unnecessarily. (How many clients can say this about their attorney.) She is very intuitive re: dealing with complex judicial procedures. She is excellent at communicating with other difficult attorneys and knows how to handle stubborn and lazy court personnel. You will not be disappointed if you retain Jeanne ! She is not afraid of hard work. She provides clients with copies of all pleadings (filed by her and received from other entities.) She works long days and nights until she gets every aspect of your case handled thoroughly and properly. She always returns phone calls. To sum up this review; Jeanne is a, " woman who gets things done." Fred

Renee has assisted me on multiple occasions. Most recently to develop proposals and contracts that are customized to the specific needs of my firm and provide a template for future projects. In the past, Renee has assisted me in mitigating potential issues with clients and with collecting funds from overdue accounts. She is extremely knowledgable about the industry and applies practicality to everything she does. I would highly recommend Renee for legal work in the construction/design industry.

Mr. Remaly has the knowledge and expertise to make the disability appeal process easier than I could've imagined. This was so daunting to me, that I would have never been able to handle this on my own let alone be successfully. He was professional and thorough as well as compassionate with me. I great appreciate his expertise!

Jim represented the insurance company and me in a personal injury suit where I was the defendant in slip and fall case. The initial amount the plaintiff was requesting was well above my insurance liability limit. It was settled well below the limits of my policy, so there was no cost me me. He is an excellent communicator who I would recommend to anyone. He always kept me informed via email and was easily accessible by phone.

On June 15, 2007, Attorney William C. Kaczynski entered his appearance in the case entitled Commonwealth of Pennsylvania vs. GEORGE D. WALLS, CC # 200214218. I was incarcerated in SCI Albion, Pennsylvania due to a wrongful conviction. Attorney Kaczynsk, filed a Supplemental Post Conviction Relief Act Petition requesting the trial court to grant me a new trial for several reasons See: Commonwealth v. George D. Walls, cited as: 993 A.2d 289 Pa. Super 54 (2010). The trial court (Honorable Judge Kathleen A. Durkin) rejected my PCRA Petition for new trial. HOWEVER, Attorney Kaczynski, filed the above cited appeal in the Superior Court of Pennsylvania. The Superior Court REVERSED & REMANDED with instructions agreeing with Attorney Kaczynski, that my Due Process Rights were violated. The case went back before the Honorable Judge Durkin who summarily dismissed my (PCRA) Petition without a hearing. Attorney Kaczynski aggressively argued that I should be granted a new trial because of prior Counsel (Ernest H. Sharif) & (William A. Brandstetter, II) was ineffective in their representation of my case. On February 11, 2011, my PCRA Petition for new trial was granted. On May 20, 2011, I was finally released from the wrongful incarceration due to the diligent work of William C. Kaczynski, Esquire! For more than 4 years attorney Kaczynski put in so many hours to make sure that I'd get my day in court and then had the wrongful conviction reversed. Finally, On May 10th, 2011, the Honorable Judge Kathleen A. Durkin granted the Allegheny County District Attorney's request to "nolle process" the entire case. I am a free man today thanks to Attorney William C. Kaczynski, Esquire. I greatly appreciate having Attorney William C. Kaczynski represent me. I wish all attorney would work as hard and diligent as this attorney! William C. Kaczynski, kept his word and kept me informed at every stage of the case. Most of the times, during his representation of my case, he went beyond the call of his representation. If you need any additional information about this wonderful Attorney, feel free to email me at:

Mr. Monico has represented me in a number of diverse cases and transactions over the last 10 years. He is always well prepared, communicates very well regarding the potential outcomes and always seems like he has the upper hand in the case. Being in the Real Estate Development business, there are so many situations that come up where you feel helpless, worried and violated at times, Mr. Monico provides that clarity which eliminates the fear of the unknown. I have learned a lot from him over the years and I am truly a better and more prepared businessman because of him. Because of his experience and intuition, he knows how to be aggressive and when to turn down the volume when he has to. Mr. Monico also has great resources to consult with to optimize the results in any case. I would not have anyone else represent me.

This was my first experience with a legal matter and I found it overwhelming at times. Mr. Kondrot helped put me at ease and was successful at winning a fair settlement, giving me the legal compensation for my injuries that I was entitled to by law. I highly recommend Attorney Philip Kondrot.

Don McKay was in charge of forming my corporate business Inc. Mr. McKay was fast, clear, trustworthy, and made it so easy for me- when I had no clue what to do or where to go. My incorporation was handled completely by him and he has always been available when I have had (many) questions. I emailed him, was on the phone that day and and was in his office that week! If I ever have any legal issues or business ventures in the future, he has my business for life. I have referred many clients to Mr. McKay and all have secured his services.

I am glad that Taylor was assigned to my daughter's case as she is amazing with children and knows how to communicate comfortably with them. My daughter is typically a very shy child but Taylor was incredibly sweet and helpful. She explained the court room procedure so that my 5 year old could understand as well as possible. In addition, she was knowledgeable, assertive, and confident as needed. I believe she will truly go far in her career and thank her for being wonderful.

First let me admit that in the past I usually take my taxes to someone. Sign and send the check has been my standard tax season procedures for years. I encountered some issues and I required a recommended tax lawyer in my area that could easily translate tax regulations and procedures to me. I was provided Ms Stewart's contact information and felt instantly comfortable with not only her high level professionalism but more importantly her customer service skills. She was honest and upfront with every detail I had questions regarding my tax issues and from a brief conversation she had formulated a direction to resolve these issues. Within a couple of months, my life became more complex and my tax needs changed. Ms. Stewart was able to adjust to my situation and redirect her efforts to focus on the new, much larger, picture. Good customer service skills and verifying information before answering is very rare today. I have great confidence that the answers I receive from Ms. Stewart are accurate and applicable to the issues at hand. She focuses on realistic solutions and provides different options to solve problems when possible. I do not give recommendations easily but I have provided her contact information to both family and friends. She is a rare professional who cares about her clients and provides easily understandable answers to a very complex system. Ms. Stewart is a gem amongst rocks. I have no reservations with recommending her to anyone I know.

Top Questions to Ask a Lawyer

When meeting with a lawyer for the first time, it's important to ask the right questions to understand their expertise and determine if they're the right fit for your legal needs. Here are some top questions to consider:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. What potential outcomes can I expect from my case?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  4. What is your approach to handling cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. Who will be working on my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.
  7. What is the likely timeline for resolving my case?
Get an estimate of how long the process may take from start to finish.
  8. Do you have references from past clients?
Testimonials or references can provide insight into the lawyer's professionalism and effectiveness.
  9. What are the strengths and weaknesses of my case?
Understanding potential challenges helps you prepare and sets realistic expectations.
  10. Are there alternative ways to solve my legal problem?
Discuss options like mediation, arbitration, or settlement to resolve the issue efficiently.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
