I had a deeply frustrating experience with Ross family law that I feel compelled to share. My interaction with this firm, particularly with their receptionist, was marked by unprofessionalism and a lack of genuine support. I was seeking legal assistance with a challenging child custody and child support dispute, but my experience with this firm was far from satisfactory.
From the outset, the receptionist’s attitude was dismissive and unhelpful. When I called to inquire about potential legal representation, I was met with a curt and indifferent response. Rather than offering any assistance or guidance, the receptionist informed me that all the attorneys at the firm were fully booked and either could not or would not take on new cases. This response was not only frustrating but seemed to be a blanket refusal rather than a genuine assessment of the firm’s capacity.
What was most concerning about this interaction was the lack of willingness to explore any potential for assisting with my case or even directing me to someone who might help. Instead of providing a referral or suggesting alternative steps, the receptionist’s demeanor suggested a complete disinterest in addressing my needs. Working with Brian was a breeze. He is very responsive and you communicate with him directly which was a huge bonus. He helped me with my estate planning and living trust. I found him through my employer’s legal plan (Met Life) and he was outstanding and very thorough. He was also very clear and precise about my financial responsibility for his services not covered by my legal plan. I didn’t realize that along with estate planning you would also do a power of attorney and advanced health care directive, which I’ve been planning to do for the longest time but haven’t gotten around to it. Now that this process is complete (which was a total of about 3-4 weeks turnaround time- super fast!), I feel at peace knowing that my family will be taken care of and that my wishes are clearly outlined in these documents. Adam Gruen was recommended by an attorney with whom I had known for for years as the fellow to call for help with a frustrating litigation situation that occurred with a product I purchased and applied for my construction product.
I unfortunately hired a different lawyer to help out at first with the objective of simply writing a letter to my insurance company to get them involved and represent me which is why I pay for insurance, Instead of writing a letter to demand my insurance get involved this other lawyer from Orinda, ca., went without my authorization and charged up within a week time over $10,000 dollars in what he said was research, his secretary copied typical stuff online in an impressive but useless folder, I was out of town when this nonsense was performed.
I was then fortunately referred to Adam Gruen, not only did adam get my insurance involved immediately with a well written letter, but wrote a letter to the so called previous avaricious lawyer that kept sending me bills for over 10,000 dollars weekly, for his very useless online information.
If you have an issue Adam will tell you up front if he can hlep, if he says he can, he does.
If he feels he can't help he has the foresight to say he can't help without wasting your's or his time.
Great guy to call for legal advice and or representation.

Either the firms didn't return calls, wouldn't even give me a consult for 6 weeks, or reviewed the paperwork and just didn't want to be bothered. And then some were just flat out not nice. I was trying to sell property and I was working under some time constraints. I had zero expectations when I called Hall Law Group. They were probably my 20th phone call. Imagine my surprise when they put me right through to Angie their paralegal. I explained what I was trying to do. Right out of the gate, she said absolutely they could help. I sent over some paperwork that she requested. Before the day was over, she had advised me of the path forward, what they would be doing on their end, and scheduled a phone consultation with Attorney Mike Hall. I couldn't believe how quickly she had the process moving forward.
Mike, as well as everyone on his team, have been just a breeze to work with. They are all genuinely nice people who are all great at what they do. They had our trust issue handled and it was so painless and hassle free.

I retained Caroline Ham to work on my support issue in 2022. Dealing with Ms. Ham was most ungratifying. She quoted me an approximate amount it would take to take the case, but ultimately exceeded this amount significantly.
Ms. Ham’s self-centered approach to time management was extremely unprofessional. When we set a meeting, Ms. Ham would invariably have 2 responses. First, she would call hours before the meeting and ask if to have the meeting early, at her convenience, not mine. It became apparent that even though I am the client my time could NOT possibly be as important as HER time. Her second response was to be late or not show up for a zoom call at all.
Prior to my retaining Ms. Ham she failed to inform me that the age difference between me and my ex-spouse would create an advantage in the courts for my ex-spouse. I am convinced this is no oversight as it allowed her to bill me. When I finally discovered this information, I took an interim settlement from my ex-spouse and had to wait to file an effective lawsuit when we were on equal legal grounds. My support issue was only resolved in 2024 - WITH ANOTHER LAWYER.
Glad I went elsewhere.
