I don't even want to give one star to him. I've never seen an extremely sh*t lawyer like Leon E Jew before. His team is totally unprofessional and honesty to say, no one in his team is really doing their jobs. No one came out to be responsible when my case was severe and need some communication. That's why he was disciplined because of such bad and unprofessional service he and his team provided.

I was convicted of a misdemeanor to be exponged in 2018. Something went wrong between the court and the Department of Justice. On all background check for t shows felony. I was able to reach Cecilia finally and with a rude attitude she yelled at me and told me I should call the Dept of Justice. She would not help. I am now homeless and still showing a felony that does not exist in the court system nor in my life. But she was court appointed and she received her pay. I'm still fighting to just have the truth on my record. She doesn't care because she does not have to deal with the consequences. Shame on you Cecilia

Please do not waste your money with this so called "attorney" she really has no clue what she's doing didn't even remember my husbands name each court date and because of all her mistakes I had to hire a real attorney that knew what they were doing. She's really unprofessional!!! Does not answer calls unless you block them because then she has no idea who it is. Zero communication skills and she's just really bad at what she's trying to do

I hired Ms. Faissol to represent me on my divorce. I found her to be extremely unresponsive and inattentive to my case and would not even keep me informed on important correspondence she received from the opposing counsel. She never provided me with monthly statements on how much time she was devoting to my case. After about a year of not making any progress on my case, I decided to hire another attorney. After repeatedly asking her for a settlement of my retainer fee, and informing her that I would complain to the California Bar, I finally received a statement where she claimed to have spent all of my retainer fee. Please do not engage Ms. Faissol for legal representation involving family law. She is unprofessional and may even be bordering in testing the ethics of a legal practice.

Richard was on my divorce case starting in 2004. paid over $120,000 for delays, many mistakes and and incompetence. many years from now i will look back and laugh from the stress and delays in my divorce case, just mot for awhile. Richard once told me he had "jet lag" when i pointed out several basic mistakes. (had "jet lag" from a flight from L.A. about a 45 minute flight) I paid $375.00/hour for basic services a grade school graduate could do!

This Lawyer lacks fortitude, allows opposing council to walk all over his clients. I recommend that you seek council else where if you want a Lawyer to protect your interests, or display a backbone anyway. Mr. Flanders is always out of the office, I have caught him in several lies, his office would say one thing he would say another, seems to me a pretty poor attempt at avoiding a client wanting to know where there case is going. Honestly find another Lawyer, if your reading this your working on your due diligence.

Blaha is horrrible. He rolls over on any request of the woman you are divorcing and tells you to give it to her. He allowed a friend of my wife's to undervalue our home by over $100k in the settlement and then he gave me bad advice to pay alimony when my wife was making over $80k a year and we had no children.

I was sent to Mr. Fried for a very simple case. Robert handed the case off to another lawyer at his firm saying that he would “oversee” the case. That lawyer then handed it off to another lawyer saying that “he would oversee the case” That apparently means that you pay for 3 lawyers while nothing happens on the case. They completely botched the case, and apparently had no idea what they were doing. It took them over two months to tender the case to my insurance, in the mean time running up over $30,000 in legal fees for me to pay. Not ethical at all. The new lawyer settled the case in under 5 hours, and wasted neither time nor money. Complete waste of time!

I went to azadeh for immigration consultation. She was late for her appointment and the moment she came to the office she very rudely asked me to sit down as i was trying to sooth my 1 month old baby by standing close to my chair, regarding the consultation she did knew nothing, she didnt knew where to look for type of visas and when i try to assist her she said she knows how to do her job well. it was 30 mins consultation and she had no interest in my case and in 8 mins she was done with me, least interesting in listening to me just spoke about her rate and not even bothered to listen to my whole reason of visiting her. She was highly unprofessional.

Worst Atty ever consulted!! I was given advice for an Unlawful Detainer case. In which she stated that she had done Hundreds of these types of cases. She wrote a four page Answer with no verifiable defences that could be used. Lotta legalise but no specific knowledge of Tenant Landlord Law. There was also extensive spelling errors that i had to fix. Not to mention she put the wrong case # on Answer. I was also told I could extend or reschedule court dates at leisure. Without reasonable expanation or excuse. This was to "Buy more time". Considering these types of cases move quickly through the judicial system. Only dire emergency situations can be used as reason to reschedule a court date. She also told me that a Verification to Answer was not needed. Also that it would be in my best interest to vacate premises before court date. Since I would have to "Pay back all rent owed anyway" Needless to say I never had to pay any back rent or deposit .Thank God I hired another Reputable Atty that was knowledgeable and recognized these errors before the trial date.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.

  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
