Our case was complicated due to key parties being difficult to reach. The dedication of Caitlin and the McLain Legal Services Team was exactly what was needed and ultimately our goal of becoming Third Party Custodians of our Grandson was achieved in 6 months. One of the terms on the website that caught our attention was "trauma informed". Managing emotions in a complicated case such as ours is not easy and we felt 100% comfortable with being transparent during this process and felt nothing but support. Nothing better than working with knowledgable, professional and truly good people in a difficult situation.

I just want to take a minute to write a review for this excellent attorney that works with another excellent group of people at McLain Legal. All too often in todays society we seem to lose sight of the people behind the scenes, people who day in and day out work their tail end off to get the job done and done well. Ms Easter is one of those people who just sit back quietly, often behind the scenes and rocks it every single time. This attorney had to jump in and actually go to court for an ex parte matter when my actual attorney was out on vacation. The matter required immediate attention and representation and Ms Easter did that without hesitation. In the end, we lost the argument/that battle, but the war continues. It should be noted that despite losing that motion, I still feel compelled to write this review and let everyone in Portland know how great of an attorney Ms Easter is. She is very knowledgeable, very firm, understanding, compassionate, and she is an advocate for McLain Legal clients without fail. Simply put, she is “The Very Best” at what she does. I wouldn’t want anyone else on my legal team. If you ever find yourself needing great legal advice or help representation, this is your lady. 5 out of 5 stars doesn’t even do it justice. She is that good. Don’t let her quiet, behind the scene demeanor fool you, because it will fool the other side. You definitely want Ms Easter on your team.

When my years-long battle in family court was over, there was a huge mess to clean up. An appeal was filed by opposition; a totally specious contempt was filed by opposition, several rounds of negotiation and filings and frustration and hair pulling and the kids there in the middle of it. My very capable but very pugilistic trial attorney recommended that I use someone who had the ability to reach compromise more readily with the opposing legal team, who were understandably tired of dealing with him. Fortunately, he had someone in mind.
Enter Caitlin Easter.
Caitlin is a delightful person, which could distract you from what a fantastic lawyer she is. She is thorough, she is detail oriented, and she's a fantastic communicator with an excellent command of the law. She manages to maintain a healthy skepticism without being cynical, which is hugely refreshing, especially as legal fatigue starts to set in. She is a fighter with a gentle disposition, and she cares about the kids involved above everything else.
I could not be happier with the outcome of her services. We are now at about the year mark after our last major interaction and it's a whole new world. My kids are happy and see both parents regularly; both parents have laid down their swords and are moving on with their lives. It's night and day. If things change though... she's my first call.

We hired Fritz to help us navigate a complicated property sale that would result in a Wildlife Conservation Easement. Our situation required a lengthy multi-step process than would involve the coordination and interaction between federal and state agencies and as well as multiple telecommunications companies. We knew we had one shot to get it right, and fortunately we stumbled across “Fritz” William Paulus.
Fritz was simply outstanding from start to finish! He was thorough, transparent, and conscientious. While he already had extensive experience in property law, he was tenacious in learning the law as it applied to our situation. He always ensured we had all the facts as we navigated our legal options.

We were approached by a neighbor with an interest in leasing our pasture for a recreational cannabis farm operation (now legal in Oregon). Given the potential contract, land use and legal issues with such an arrangement we contacted Fritz. He reviewed the lease agreement offered by the proposed tenant, provided advice to us about this and provided recommended revisions. He did a thorough and timely job and offered excellent advice. All his revisions to the lease were accepted by the proposed tenant and incorporated into the lease. He also provided a brief letter covering all the potential legal implications for us. This put things in perspective in an objective and non-alarmist manner and helped us make a final decision. I felt much more comfortable and confident in moving forward. Well done!

I've had the privilege of hiring Fritz twice for legal issues dealing with my home. On the first occasion, Fritz's advice on a potential property line dispute helped save me nearly $2000 in surveying fees.
On the second occasion, Fritz was the first person to catch that a contractor had missed a critical deadline when filing a construction lien on my home. Because of this, we were able to demand that the contractor release the lien. This saved us from the nightmare of having to go to court, and also prevented us from being forced to pay an unscrupulous contractor who had done bad work.
As a homeowner, I highly recommend Fritz.

Let me start out stating I was referred to Edward Fu, atty. In August of 2014. I had spent the prior 8 years caring for my very ill mother, while trying to maintain a full-time career, as well as, attempting to prevent myself from racking up a ton of debt in the process. This did not happen, and I was not proud of it. From the first interaction with Edward, I felt at ease. At no point did I feel judged, persuaded or pressured in any way. He provided me with a clear picture of my options (bankruptcy options), and a kind understanding of my situation. I was in no situation to be able to pay for a bankruptcy in full at that time, so I placed a small retainer, and continued to make payments as I could, once I had made all the payments we would proceed. Little did I know, this was the beginning of a professional relationship that would continue in the future. Jan 2015, I had a surgery that came with multiple complications, as well as, an inability to proceed as I had originally anticipated. Edward continued to remain patient, kind, understanding, and never pressuring. He was still willing to work with me, within my abilities.
Fast forward…. To March 22nd, 2018. My family member had passed away, leaving myself, as well as, other family members listed as heirs to his estate. Shortly (within 8 days) of his passing, I was feeling stressed with excessive pressure to get representation, due to the extremely hostile nature of and developing status of the estate. Immediately, my mind went to Edward and our previous interactions. I was now the young age of 30, with no experience dealing with an Estate, Probate, or Inheritance issues, let alone – certain if representation was necessary. To top this off, I was listed as an heir in the company of estranged family. This was the perfect recipe for turbulent waters ahead.
From the moment I reached out to Edward, he provided the most exceptional representation I could have asked for! I’m not positive exactly how may estate cases he had completed prior to mine, but I know this one was a doozie. The hostility from all 3 parties, communications between lawyers, cautious disclosure of information as not to disclose anything that could be used adversely against me, the list goes on….
Edward advocated for me conservatively and cautiously, he wasn’t at all after the financial gain an estate of this nature could promise, he was beyond tactful when addressing issues of a sensitive nature (while still protecting my best interest), and communicated fully with me along the way. Not one issue, item, or situation was addressed or resolved without my knowledge. If Edward didn’t have the answer, he wasn’t afraid to admit this, but would quickly respond with a thorough detailed knowledge of my options, the circumstances, and different scenarios after he had researched the issue of concern.
I cannot explain the level of genuine concern and care he has with his clients. His high level of tact and grace. Compassion and understanding. While maintaining the highest level of professionalism & representation. I have been truly blessed to be guided to Edward Fu in multiple times of stress, frustration, and anxiety. Everything happens for a reason, and I can say I’m thankful they do.

I was going through a very difficult financial period in my life, and had to file bankruptcy-Chapter 7. I was able to get assistance through Legal Aid, and I was extremely fortunate to get Edward as a pro-bono attorney.
He saw my stack of information, and stated, "I thought this one was going to be easy." He later informed me that I was one of the most complex cases that he had worked with and "learned a lot." For that, I greatly respect him and his work ethic. He did NOT put me at the bottom of his priority list, and had incredible perseverence to complete the case successfully. My bankruptcy was discharged without any challenges, and very clean. I could not and would not have attempted this on my own.
Edward IS a busy man, however, if you email or leave a voicemail, he returns your call or email that business day. His efficiency and sense of ethics make him superior in the legal community, and I enjoyed working with him.

We were very pleased with Ms. Smith's review of my father's Estate Planning and Trust documents. She went over them all to make sure they were in line with the current laws, made some changes he asked for, and helped us feel secure, knowing that everything was in order. She only did what was necessary, and didn't charge us to re-write anything we didn't need done. That way we saved both time and money. I would recommend her highly. I met with Mr. Vergun for a half hour consultation as a result of a referral by the Oregon State Bar. I spoke with him by phone and emailed ahead of time of my areas of concern regarding a small business I am starting. There was technical statutory research that needed to be done for several questions. When we met, his answers were thorough and specific to my questions; however, he also provided related information that he thought might be helpful, and it was. I felt comfortable with him and confident in his knowledge. I expect to need more legal advice through the next year, and I intend to stay with Mr. Vergun as my counsel.

I had a complicated personal injury claim due to an auto accident. The injury required a surgery which I had to postpone due to pregnancy. The other insurance agency was not so understanding of the delay, however, Sarah made me feel incredibly comfortable regarding the entire process. During the settlement, I happened to be involved in yet another auto accident with an uninsured driver. Sarah happily assisted me with this claim as well. Both settlements were resolved due to Sarah's knowledge of the system and persistence with the agencies involved. My wife of 10 years decided to leave me for another man after I was hospitalized due to a manic bi-polar episode. Needless to say, life was extremely hard for me to deal with.

Allison Kamilos was my wonderful lawyer. I cannot fully express my gratitude, in what was an out of the ordinary divorce case. Filled with ridiculously absurd claims from my ex and complex issues that were atypical. There were emails where Allison and I were like "wtf, seriously?"

I was referred to Dan by another trusted attorney and thank goodness because I think it would be difficult to find the best just by going "to the phone book" aka online.
I've worked with Dan and his firm on a couple of family law occasions and he was highly responsive, professional, and overall very reasonable for the value provided. He didn't every abuse time or make you feel "on the clock" but rather worked efficiently to solve the issues at hand, and worked in a very good timeline for the results that I had hoped to accomplish. Any custody case can be difficult, but with a narcissist you will be in for one of the most painful, stressful and expensive rides of your life. I knew I needed the best. I chose Dan - after meeting with several attorneys - because he actively listened to my needs and wants and responded intelligently. He also didn’t just tell me what I wanted to hear. His view was informed and balanced. I knew, no matter how willing I was to compromise, I was in for a battle. I needed an attorney who would take the high road but would also be aggressive when need be. Dan is honest, seasoned and smart. I am extremely happy with my decision to work with him and with the job he has done representing me.
Dan zeroed in on the immediate significant issues for me and my small child, as well as the future I wanted to build for us. After many years of squabbling with a narcissist and getting lost in crazy-making circles of disagreement with no resolution, I needed a plan in writing that we both agreed to. I got that and I was pleased with it. It took a lot of negotiation (because the other side created barriers) but in the end it was well worth it.
Dan also did an excellent job of distinguishing the limits of the law. Many times he encouraged compromise where appropriate and he repeatedly encouraged me to only pursue what a judge would uphold. Throughout my case he was an advocate and helped me avoid court for some time. However, in the end, because of the other side, it was unavoidable. I'm not writing this review after realizing how grateful and fortunate I am now that my legal crisis has finally ended. I am writing to give the sincerest appreciation I can for the tireless efforts given by Dan Margolin and his entire staff for defending me against the most hostile, untrue, dishonest, calculating and devious attacks that anyone should ever have to be exposed to in one lifetime, and I am not exaggerating. IThe first time I was rear ended my daughter went on line and got a list of attorneys. For some reason Mr Ruffs name stood out much more than the TV attorneys so I called him. He took my case. Less than 2 months later I was rear ended again. Then 3 years later once again was rear ended. I have gone with Mr Ruff every time. While my third case is still ongoing I know he will do right by me this time as he did the other two times. So very pleased with the way I have been treated respectfully and with his results. When contacting Mr. Banks I had already been told by another firm that there was very little if any hope for our case...I knew our case was different in that it involved not just investment fraud..but real estate property. There were many pieces to the puzzle..and at times was hard to put together. Mr. Banks and his team spent countless hours putting things together..many times calling me after hours to go over things. I was rear-ended and as a result have permanent pain in my back. I was offered $3,000 by the at fault insurance company. I then knew that I had to hire a lawyer, but was uncertain of how to figure out who was going to be honest and look out for my best interest. I was VERY near the end of my statue of limitations with my auto accident and I got bounced around by several different firms. They all explained that I had waited too long and they didn't have enough time to help me. I was really discouraged but was eventually referred to Kafoury & McDougal. They were very positive and told me that even with the situation they would be able to represent me.
