I write this review nearly 15 years after Steven saved my life. So I’ll be short and sweet.
When I think about Steven Sherlag I can’t help but look back and imagine “Billy Flynn”, the defense lawyer in the movie Chicago.
What I witnessed Steven do was both a blessing and magic to say the least. He is a good man with a pure moral compass.
I pray I never need his assistance again, but if I do, I pray he answers that call.
I have recommended him and would recommend his talent to anyone, family, friends, or strangers.

Steve's a real guy who understands the real world and the way cops, DHS and the judicial system abuse power and civil rights. He was recommended to me and I recommend him to you. He's my guardian angel and I Iove him like a brother. He's totally human and can relate to the feelings of others. He's not a shrink, but he's not above heartfelt and healing words and "just talking." He's very funny too. He does his best to help you keep perspective when the world seems like it's falling down.
I owe Steve a debt which may be un-repayable in this lifetime. This was a near death experience for me and I now know just how interwoven and connected we are. Did Steve owe me karmically before or did we begin something this time around? He represented me when I was framed by Albany, Oregon police detective Glen Fairall for abusing my own children when he had actually abused them through going into their school, bullying and intimidating the administrator into letting him question (i.e. interrogate) my 6 year old daughter and subsequently ordering all three of my daughters (1,3 and 6 yrs) "examined" (state sanctioned child sex abuse) at ABC House because he couldn't find any evidence. He had wasted his time and probably realized he was looking bad so he blew his stack and went berzerk when I got an attorney and charged me with 3 counts of child sex abuse and a topper of RAPE to make things stick. The Grand Jury dismissed the rape charge but undoubtedly the DA George Eder easily pushed over the foggy and nebulous charges of sex abuse to get an indictment. After all that's what a Grand Jury is for: producing indictments. It's not hard when there's no judge and no defense representation! It's a trial in a vacuum...
Bathing your child, changing where they might see you, potty training them and comforting them when they're scared at night are readily spinnable as sex-crimes. He didn't charge my wife for doing these things, only me, the father. As detective Fairall said it's his "business".
Steve stayed with me through the whole thing and regularly came to Albany when needed (75 miles) during the 2+ years of horror, 4 preparations for trials (3 blocked by DA/courthouse shenanigans), DA calling an illegal mistrial and ultimately, 6 months later a 7 day trial and extremely fast exoneration. I hope you never have to hire Steve to defend you and you probably won't as long as you know that it's a bad idea to "talk to cops" and teach your loved ones likewise. "Anything you say can be used against you" IS FOR REAL. It's not just movies. If the cop feels like it your words will be spun, manipulated, taken out of context and even misquoted. All exculpatory evidence will be ignored. That's how the pros make probable cause." Don't be naieve. It could cost your life or that of someone you care for. Cops and DAs are allowed to lie and they do it a lot. They're rewarded for it. They'll lie to your kids too. The courts do not hold anyone of "the system" accountable. That means fraud, perjury, and forgery by cops are not seen as crimes in these kinds of cases. Only we can change the system and that is by exposing these guys, making them and their employers look bad and always demanding trials. There is no way to adequately describe the help that Rick Okamura has been to me over the past two to three years. I brought to him a mess of an estate after leaving another attorney who had botched drawing up the will for an estate and trust that I was the personal representative and trustee for. There were many problems that came up during the handling of this estate. RIck Okamura was instrumental in walking me through them. He is a highly ethical, professional, and thorough. I retained Matt for a slip & fall injury because the insurance company was not working with me. After Matt took my claim over I did not have to do anything. Matt did all the calling, negotiating, and because of his due diligence I received a larger settlement than I thought I was gonna receive. I retained Matt Rizzo twice for two auto accident claims. Matt's communication and service to his clients are second-to-none. He always kept me informed about my case. So incredibly glad that I stumbled upon Colin Hackett on Avvo when I did. Long story short, I had gotten a worker's comp claim denied by Saif because of a poorly conducted IME, even though I had several doctors who knew what was going on with my wrist, and also agreed it was work related. Colin was able to get letters from the doctors I'd seen, and was able to make a good case for me. And in doing so, I got a good settlement out of it. I hired Michael Owens and Christina Stephenson as a team to represent me in an employment dispute. Life is certainly not fair and not every dispute requires legal intervention, but when it does the fallout is typically ugly.
When I first hired Michael and Christina to look into a Whistleblower retaliation claim, I was reeling from the aftershocks and uncertainty of an unfair termination just days before Christmas. Our daughter was hit by a car and killed while in a crosswalk. We were fortunate to find Josh to take our case. I could not imagine a more effective attorney. We first consulted with Mr. Bruce Bottini in June 2016 as a result of an accident that involved my husband Mitch, and an out of state truck driver. We were unsuccessful at contacting the truck drivers insurance company. My husband required two cervical surgeries and was unable to work for about two months. We had several hundred thousands in medical bills and had exhausted our own insurance. The truck driver was uncooperative and we needed legal representation. Mr Bottini was excellent. After meeting with us in his office, he met us about a week later in the town at the scene of the accident. He brought an accident reconstructionist to verify the general facts, and then spoke with several "witnesses" later that day and the next. It took 3 years to arbitrate this situation, however in that time, he was able to prevent collections from harrassing us, and he brought in an additional lawyer at no cost to us who specialized in trucking cases. That lawyers name is Tim Williams and he is located in Bend, Oregon. The two lawyers worked in tandem to ensure our case was in solid position to be presented in court and at an arbitration. The arbitration was ultimately successful and we felt that we were in excellent hands through the entire process. We felt very fortunate to have both Mr. Bottini and Mr. Williams representing us throughout the entire time. We were very pleased with the outcome and can confidently recommend both Mr. Bottini and Mr. Williams as excellent lawyers that were prepared to take on any situation that could arise in the course of a litigation.

I retained Mr. Kline's office after being hit by a care while riding my motorcycle. While trying to heal from my injuries, my wife and I were worried how I would get my medical bills handled and since the driver had little insurance how we were going to handle this traumatic situation. I was referred to Roy after being injured in an auto accident by an uninsured motorist. Navigating the insurance claims process on top of trying to get care for my injury was SO difficult, confusing and intimidating (especially since the driver that hit me was uninsured). I called two other Oregon attorneys about a YOYO scam I got stuck in buying a used car in Portland and didn't know how to get out of - neither bothered to return my call. I got a return call from Hansen & Walgenkim a few days after leaving a msg briefly explaining my situation and that I was trying to end it without losing more money (I'd put $1700 into a car that became double the Apr and over $125 more per month in loan costs from what I initially agreed to I.e. YOYO scam.
His nice paralegal took my info, he got back to me and offered to advise me on what my legal rights were and what I should do to not be victimized by the scam shop Lot 99 LLC further. So nice!
And, he also was going to help, if his final decision after receiving all my documents/communications was that he would be able to, at no cost to me since I am low income. SUPER nice!
THANKS to Young's help the SCAM YOYO dealership in Portland Lot 99 LLC backed down and RETURNED my $1k loan deposit when I returned the car.

I hired Jeff Siefman to represent me on a domestic dispute that led to my arrest in October. Jeff was very upfront and informative when I came to him about a no contact order that was placed that neither myself or significant other asked for. We were given a referral to Mr. Thomas Coan by someone very pleased with his representation. Thomas worked with us for a year as there were a number of extensions. He listened to us and gave us a clear plan of action to prepare for court. I retained Thomas after my previous attorney advised me to plead guilty to a felony that I did not commit. Thomas actually spent the time to examine all of the prosecution’s evidence. He picked apart and disproved all charges before it went to trial. He relentlessly fought for me and my family every step of the way. Thomas was exceptional at communicating and responding to my questions quickly. In the end I did except a plea of a class B misdemeanor. This was a great win considering the original charges were measure 11 felony and 2 class A misdemeanors.

I can't imagine going through the incredibly difficult and stressful process of my unlawful employment practice case with a former employer without her guidance.
