Greenblatt & Veliev were invaluable in helping me through a difficult time. After I was involved in an accident and suffered injuries, I didn’t know what to do. Lonnie and Elnur walked me through the process and made it easy. From the very start I knew I was in good hands. They were very prompt, responding to my emails and phone calls. I also consider them to be highly ethical and trustworthy. Thank you very much for all your help!

I have known Rick Sissman for many years but only last year did I have need of his services as my attorney. His work was outstanding in every respect and his efforts on our behalf were amazing! After much frustration and many false starts attemprting to represent myself, Rick took over the collection and managed handily to collect our large four figure and long outstanding debt with little or no hassle to me or my office. In every measure Rick Sissman is the go to lawyer in suburban DC/Maryland for recovery of large unpaid commercial debt. Trust me, Rick is the man!

I have known Tony for many years. He last represented me about 10 years ago and is currently helping a friend who is also an attorney. He is competent and engaged. Plus, he knows everyone! I'm litigious because I own a small business. I've known many attorneys over the years and this guy is in the top 10%. And he is funny! Wonderful smart man.

My experience with Mr. Kan was great! I ran into a few questions when I was trying to figure out where to even start for a will and for power of attorney for my parents. I told Mr. Kan some of my concerns and he responded in such a quick and professional manner. For power of attorney, it was an agreement between my sibling and I. We both did not understand some of the definitions within the document, but Mr. Kan definitely took his time to send us additional info via email and an explanation in person during our meeting. Furthermore, I liked that he gave us both a paper copy and sent our documents electronically for future use. He also provided information on how to register my parents' wills in our county's register of wills which I was not aware of. Mr. Kan was knowledgable with the advance medical directive as well. All of my questions and concerns have been addressed and I know that I can fully trust and depend on Mr. Kan as my lawyer. Such a wonderful individual to work with!

Mine was a high conflict divorce and child custody case. My ex made my life difficult and stressful in every way. When Sajjid (JJ) took on my case, it was the first time I had some one who actually went head on with my ex and his attorney. What sets JJ apart from other attorneys is that he actually cares about his clients and feels their pain. He is passionate about what he does and goes to every extent to make sure the truth is heard. He did not take my case for the face value but he collected counter arguments to negate every lie and manipulation from my ex. He not only protected me but also my child. If you want someone who will not just go an extra mile but also work diligently to protect your right, I would undoubtedly recommend JJ. As clients, we go to attorneys for solutions and before I found JJ, there was no real solution from any of the attorneys I went to. You only hear what you already know but with JJ, I guarantee that you will see a difference in your life. He is an intelligent attorney you can count to protect yourself and your loved ones.

David Lynn is by quantum leaps the best lawyer I have ever had. I never realized what zealous was until David was on my case. Sadly, I did not find him until after a series of unfortunate lawyers who made fatal errors and lost winnable cases. Had I found David earlier he would have spared me a lot of grief and legal abuse. Unlike others, I felt very accurately represented. He got me and my case in depth and detail. My case was very painful to go through, and David’s empathy, compassion and guidance made it more bearable. What was most gratifying is that he was the only lawyer, with far more guts than the others, to challenge my condo board on false accusations, deception, inaccuracies and worse, which felt gratifying and gave us some leverage to reach a settlement. He was also very respectful and personable with opposing counsel which I am sure helped. David is a good teacher. I got a very long chart with many rows and columns of charges that I could not understand for years. He projected on the screen and went through the items until it made sense to me. David was very responsive, returned messages, was patient with me, easy to talk to and stayed on top of my case. I appreciated his sensitivity to issues of social justice and empathy for his clients. Without him I might have lost my home, and the experience would have been more traumatic. He gives a good name to the profession.

Ms. Duclos was our attorney in an appeal case for two separate protective orders. She exhibited professionalism and excellence in the courtroom in front of the opposing side as well as the judge. We met with Ms. Duclos a few days prior to the trial and she effectively obtained all of the information needed prior to this case so we were 100% ready for trial at the given time. She maintained an even-keeled demeaner and coolness when faced with cross-examination ... she didn't even let the opposing side "rattle" her. This confidence was well appreciated since we had children who were called onto the stand. My favorite part was to witness the way she questioned the opposing side to the point it made them visibly nervous but successfully get the information needed to win our trial. For the superb level of reassurance we had knowing that our case was handled with such expertise - - - it was well-worth the attorney fees and for the peace of mind she had given to our whole family. We would absolutely hire her again if needed.

I cannot recommend Shawn C. Whittaker highly enough. Not only is he a very well-respected litigator by his peers (especially in real estate, condominium, and HOA law; he is admitted in DC, MD, and VA), he is keenly intelligent and has a phenomenal memory. He also gets high marks for being ethical, fair, humane, and generous with his knowledge, experience, and time. He extended help to me and respected my deadline by promptly responding to my emails and phone calls, reviewing a letter I had written to an adversarial attorney, and allowing me to CC him on it BEFORE asking for a dime or retainer agreement, all of which convinced me to retain him over three other lawyers. He's truly one-of-a-kind and a powerful credit to the profession. Other lawyers would do themselves a favor by emulating him in every respect.

I hired Tracy Rezvani to sue a major bank in DC. They'd opened accounts without my permission, and screwed up my credit report. Tracy was relentless in getting the bank to compensate me for my damages. And, she never waivered in her support of my claim. She always did what was in my best interest. And, deferred to me for all decisions as to how the case should proceed. We never made it to court because the bank settled the case. I would definitely hire her again.

Separation and divorce is difficult, no matter how amicable. Mr. Glass, who took over my case from his partner to work with me on additional child support and custody-related issues after my divorce had already been finalized, was wonderful to work with. He and his firm value children first, helping parents do what is in the best interest of their kids. He was realistic when communicating with me about my options, his experience in the courts, and possible outcomes--all of which saved me time, money and aggravation. Despite my many and varied emotions throughout the process, Mr. Glass always maintained composure, objectivity, and offered wise counsel. He helped to keep me focused and sane through the entire process. Though I highly praise his reasoned and realistic approach to my case, he was also extremely responsive to my needs and the needs of my children, not at all afraid to be aggressive when appropriate, and truly be my advocate in the face of potential injustice. He also recommended an outstanding mediator to us who, again, helped us do what was best for our children, and save us considerable money on attorney and court fees, actually avoiding court altogether. I cannot recommend Eric Glass enough, or his firm, Clark and Glass.

Beth was instrumental in us getting accommodations in a 504 plan for our child. She is very knowledgeable about how best to work within the school system to get the accommodations that were needed, but was willing to be firm and fight for our child's rights, if needed. We were definitely in good hands with Beth and I would highly recommend her to anyone who needs advice or an advocate for a 504 or IEP plan.

I have been through the "Big Name DC Lawyers" and spent a fortune with very little to show for it. Then I found Kathryn and Jordyn. They are beyond amazing. They were my partners and I always felt they had my best interest at heart. I felt we were truly a team. They seemed to know every ounce of evidence (and there was a lot of it). They knew the evidence better than me! They seemed to know and remember every email - every text and how it applied to my case. It was amazing! They fought a ferocious fight for me. When you hear about tough and mean lawyers, these two do mean and tough with grace and class. They are the real deal. I loved how they took the fight to other party. Incredible and well thought out strategy. I cannot say enough to ever thank them. If the chips are down - This is your team!

Mr Krotman has helped me with two very different civil cases, and both times he proved knowledgeable, thorough, fair, and effective. He explained everything to me clearly and was always available when I needed to speak to him. He prepared multiple legal strategies in both cases to allow for contingencies, and both times he won the case. I chose David Kaye to handle my divorse a few years ago because my brother had heard his name around town and had a very good rep. How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
