He had not made 1 attempt to reach an 18 year old client. The client received Mr. Samimi's phone number from a relative who had opened a letter addressed to the client. The client had been in custody for 2 days before the letter was mailed to the clients home. The client requested a bail review asap but nothing had been done. Myself and client tried contacting Mr. Samimi several times and still he has yet to return either one of our calls. We considered retaining a different attorney. That attorney knows Mr. Samimi, contacted him and asked about the case. He told us Mr. Samimi explained to him that he has 8 other cases and that this client is not his priority right now. The client has been falsely accused and has been in custody for 2 weeks meanwhile two other gentlemen accused of the same offense for the same case were released today. This is our experience with Mr. Samimi you can decide for yourself to acquire his services. Good luck to you.

Mr. Jaffe was recommended to me from the California Bar, I was a service member who was having an issue with someone and he took on my case. Things were decent in the beginning but as time went on they changed drastically. Finally, He took himself off of my case as soon as he thought there was no way for him to make any more money. I did more in one weekend in San Diego than he did in over a year and a half. I did not live in San Diego at the time so I put all of my trust in him just to have it backfire on me. He will ask you for a $1500 retainer and will ask for more within a month from there. He states in his contract that your Retainer is "returned upon request" but after asking multiple times I have never received it. I had asked multiple times for an itemized receipt and never received one. I feel He is not an Honest Lawyer and I would not recommend him to anyone. Find someone who finishes what they start. Oh and the way he went about removing himself as my attorney- He sent me paperwork next day delivery stating that he was requesting his removal from the courts, and provided me with a date that I could fly to San Diego to pose my objections. I flew there, I entered the courtroom at 0845 and the hearing was at 0900, the bailiff could not find my paperwork so he asked me to sit down and wait, when all the cases were reviewed and the judge left he came over to me (the bailiff) and said that Mr. Jaffe was in at 7 am that morning to and told the judge that I lived out of state and would not be attending the hearing, he then signed the documents and was removed without my right to refute.

I hired Dayna to handle my BK case and then a Settlement Agreement to obtain a Satisfaction of Judgement to have a lien removed from my property. I was referred to her by my brother. My husband and I had listed out house for sale but could not do so until the release of the lien. This BK was to be a Bare Bones filing and was supposed to take 2 to 3 weeks at the most. In the 6th week, I received an offer to settle my debt and have the lien removed. I decided, due to the length of time wasted already, to settle with the offer and dismiss the BK. I informed Dayna, and asked her to dismiss the BK. She would only wait until the Judge dismissed it which took yet additional time. I hired her again to complete the settlement with my creditor and negotiate a lower pay off. This should have taken 1 week tops. After 3 weeks, I had to pay the full amount requested, I had to have the Satisfaction of Judgement delivered to me, and I had to file it at the county recorders office myself. My complaint is that during the course of my BK, I was not allowed to contact her by phone per her instructions through my brother. She never met with me, never gave me any advice, and we never met. Throughout this BK, after many e-mails by me to Dayna instructing her to cease communicating and disclosing my case to my brother but, she continued to involve and tell my brother my business. I believe that is completely against my attorney-client privilege and against the law. She never completed my BK and never offered to refund any monies that I had paid her for. Likewise I hired her for the Settlement Agreement, separate from the BK case, and she continued to tell my brother everything about this case also. And like the BK case, she didn't negotiate a lower price, was gone from her office after instructing my creditor to deliver it to her overnight, I had to go to file the document myself at the county recorders office. and pay an additional fee to file it. Dayna was paid in cash by me and did not finish either case! I had to finish them, and pay an additional fee which was included in the cash price I gave her. She never contacted me after instructing me, by e-mail, to go and record the SOJ myself. She never offered to refund any of my money for not doing her job on this case as well as the BK case mentioned above. Her lack of integrity by breeching my attorney-client relationship is unacceptable to me and that is why I am writing this review. I want to warn people out there not to trust in her with your personal information and not to trust her to finish the job she is hired for. Also unacceptable to me is the fact that Dayna would not communicate with me by phone and did not counsel me in any way throughout my entire BK case! A lot of time was waisted in both cases and I lost 2 buyers for my house during this time. I'm completely unhappy with Dayna's attitude and the service I received from her!

The case that I'm using Ms. Chillas for has not reached conclusion yet. She has been extremely helpful in providing guidance in how to proceed in this civil law suit. She has done far more than I would have expected any attorney to do including helping me find competent medical specialists and appropriate support for my daily living needs which I haven't been able to handle since a horrible incident where I was injured though no fault of my own. She has found appropriate housing for me close to the specialists that have evaluated my injuries and who are providing therapy for me now. She has arranged a number of depositions in the case and is prepared to go to trial if the defendant in the case doesn't make a reasonable settlement offer within a reasonable time period. We're in virtually daily contact by e-mail and phone. She keeps me informed of all conversations with my doctors, the defendant’s attorneys and others involved in the case. When I wasn't able to get food and medication, she arranged for food to be delivered to me and for doctors prescriptions and pharmacy deliveries of needed medication. She has informed me as to case law for the situation I'm in and what I can reasonably expect to transpire. She has developed a time line for the case and keeps me informed as to where we stand on the time line. She has arranged care givers for me as needed but has not run up expenses that aren't necessary. She regularly checks on me to make sure I have whatever assistance is required. She makes all doctor appointments for me and arranges transportation to the doctors as necessary. Her encouragement has helped tremendously as I've gone through traumatic challenges since the incident occurred.

I hired Peggy Moore to handle my divorce case. I believe she was a good lawyer at one time, however in my case that she did a poor job. She once provided very good advice directly to my opponent, yielding important advantage and causing me an unnecessary loss in court. I am not clear whether this was intentional but it did result in more billable hours for her and her office. It is possible she simply got my case confused with someone else's, as her grasp of detail was sometimes excellent and sometimes poor. I expressed my disappointment and gave her the opportunity to explain in person how she had not acted directly against my interests, even if accidental. I was unconvinced and told her so. She nevertheless charged me (a $lot) for that meeting. Her office was also sloppy in detail, i.e. properly recording court dates, and in billing. These issues undermined my trust in Peggy's handling of a very important life event. I hired another attorney to successfully finish my case.

My husband and I were represented by Stacey DenHerder in 1993 and she did the Trust. My husband died in 2006 and the Trust is very confusing and Stacey DenHerder said to me that she didn't want to represent the Trust. I have consulted several other attorneys and they also are very confused by the wording of the Trust. Because Stacey DenHerder wrote up the Trust . I would think that she would try to make it right. I know that she got her degree in 1992 and was young and inexperienced but to not represent me because she goofed I find very difficult to understand. Stacey herself told me she would not take the time to explain the Trust to me. I was married to my husband and the Trust is in his name not ours. I was in love and a very trusting newlywed. I have spent thousands of dollars trying to figure out what the Trust langage means and I am still lost and want to move on in my life and sell my home but it appears from my reading it that I will have to divide the proceeds of the sale with his children and that will not leave me enough to purchase a home. Other attorneys have no answer for me after reading the Trust and the Ammendment and charging me $200 plus an hour with no resolution accept that I would probably have to go to court to get this resolved by a judge. When I go to an attorney to see how this is done they say they can't help me.

I do not think Krystal Limon was aggressive enough in the pursuit of my interests. I feel she made ethically questionable decisions and I ended the working relationship before the end of my case. I feel that Krystal Lymon lacks the intellect and compassion necessary to be ultimately successful as a family lawyer and I would not hire her again. Let me be clear, Krystal Limon, working as my attorney, was let go before the outcome of my case. This review is not a poor review due to a poor outcome, this is a poor review because I did not feel that I was getting my moneys worth and that the quality of work delivered was substandard and inconsistent. Also, I would like to add that the customer service of the entire firm of Shaffer and Associates degraded instantaneously once the attorney client relationship ended and I would not work with any one at firm in in the future as the lead attorney refuses to meet about client satisfaction issues without charging her hourly rate.

After being referred by a friend, I came to Mr. Spencer during a conflict with a former landlord. My interactions with Mark were consistently positive. While I felt vulnerable and anxious about any outcomes- he remained even keeled with a unique ability to remain compassionate and non- judgmental. Mr. Spencer's ability to communicate in a clear and effective manner with the defendant and myself paved the way for a great outcome. As any lawsuit is stressful simply because of the ambiguity, he put me at ease that he can handle any curveballs with a solid knowledge base, timeliness and grounded responses.. I engaged Gene and his firm twice: for a matter relating to the sale of my property management business in 2012 and then for a lawsuit filed by a former tenant against myself personally and my former business in 2016. In the matter of the sale of my business, Gene was negotiating with the firm to whom I had sold, but I was the one to finally get the case settled, with Gene wrapping up the case details. In defending me in the lawsuit filed by the former tenant, Gene was initially responsive and seemed to be working on my behalf, however, that changed after several months when it became difficult to get a response from him on the status of my case. After five months, I was transferred to his partner, David Baumgarten, with no explanation given for the move. David proved to be just as unresponsive and when he actually followed up on my inquiries, his response was usually, "Let me follow up". However, he never did. In fact, I believe I was the only party not to receive a settlement in the case from the offending party, and I attribute this result to Gene and David's lack of communication and follow through.

Kerry proved to be everything you don't want your lawyer to be: Incompetent, unreachable, late to court hearings, and to top it off he has a huge ego! He calls from unknown number, to call him you have to go thru the switch board and leave msgs. Most of the time he doesn't even call back, and other times responds via email. His customer service skills does not jive with the rate he charges you. As he is amongst some of the more expensive attorneys. He collects all the money upfront, that should've been a red flag! Tried emailing me that he was late for court because if he called his cell number would show up on my phone. [Who emails anything that needs immediate attention?] Told me to plead the sheet because he was too inept to negotiate a reasonable plea agreement. As an overall review of my attorney I'm still UN SURE... Is very hard to find federal work comp attorneys I'm not sure of other attorneys that are in the San Diego area. I believe Mr. Winter happens to know his laws since he's been an attorney for quite some time of 27 some years , he says. On the other hand far as his mannerism , how he treats you as a client is Somewhat Different. My case has gone to trial here recently and I'm waiting to hear the outcome. I've even had some discussions with him and his office of his mannerism towards me and not even having consideration on my feelings I've never had an attorney ask you to leave their office when things get to be questionable on his in on when you're trying to ask a question on what he thinks what will happen more or less, when you tell him that you don't feel welcomed as a client. When you call the office the receptionist seems mopey over the phone wore out and basically seems like you're Bothering them"""". I've tried reaching him for the last two weeks he had not returned my phone call I'm trying to figure out what my status is of this case. And further medical conditions that I've had which are leading to treatments which I have a feeling he may need to know about. I've been denied Social Security no income for 4 years. I was thinking of asking him for a Social Security Attorney but after his mannerism I think I rather look for one of my own. As I walked into the office today to drop off medical paperwork. I asked the receptionist if he was free he came out to the office. I told him if he had a couple minutes I would like to talk to him, he rolled his eyes and I went into his office I told him that I wanted to talk to him behind closed doors .I have a feeling he didn't think this was going to be going very well. I told him that I tried to talk to the receptionist for the last 2 weeks on trying to get in touch with him. He had not returned my call when I confronted him about this he told me don't even come in to the office as a stop by like it was a bother or I was unwelcomed. I do not think that is very professional as a lawyer. I have had a couple of lawyers in the past and I've never seen any mannerism like this. There been two accounts before which we got into arguments because of his Misunderstanding and not letting me give out the information that I wanted to give him on my Medical Conditions. There is also been 2 accounts when he's asked me to leave his office. Once was even two days prior before my trial. I feel when you question ??Mr. Winter and things don't go his way he tends to show you the door . I have an understanding that he did not want to go to trial. If I were looking for an attorney I will be looking for an attorney who makes you feel welcomed, let you know what's going on, sympathy or consideration of your medical and psychological abilities. More or less not leaving you and the dark dark, having to defend for yourself and try to figure out what's going on. Consideration return a phone call and not having to wait 2 weeks or more and having to call again because he hasn't returned your phone call.

There are times when I want to detest lawyers... but I can't. Know why? Because I know Michael McCloskey, that's why. In a world of ever decreasing respect for the legal profession, McCloskey defies the trend and shines a brilliant light on a tarnished trade. His sublime intelligence is never arrogant or aloof. His strength, conviction and intensity are as penetrating as an armor piercing shell. Mike's ethics direct him to take the high road (which is usually the road less traveled in the legal business). With Michael McCloskey on your side, you not only have the best representation, you have a friend and confidant. I had the good fortune to meet Michael and be represented by him some years ago. I came to admire him as both a person and an attorney. My only regret is that I haven't remained in closer contact with him as the years have passed. He has been an inspirational force and my life is enriched because of him. Respectfully, Michael [removed by Avvo staff] Orange, MA

From the minute I consulted with her in 2017 she made me feel relieved with no pressures. I was on the brinks of doing everything myself until I realized I needed a professional. She took me step by step and explained in detail what I was going to be up against, but her calm professional demeanor was unprecedented. I am retired military so stress is not a problem, but the stress of gathering everything that is needed and ongoing court hearings is mentally exhausting. A big THANK YOU to Ms. Nancy Wilson for her long hours and plethora of administrative work she put in for me and my family. Highly recommend this AWESOME and true PROFESSIONAL!!!

Didn't seem involved with case. Would forget a lot of things. Would never return emails or calls. Didn't seem like an attorney that will fight for you. Going to get all my case papers and taking it to someone else.

Wasn’t too impressed with this one. While I received what would be considered a normal amount for my claim, I felt like it was more 3 against 1 instead of 2 against 2. If you are my lawyer I expect you to be on my side and not tell me how much you agree with the opposing party and just regurgitate what the other lawyer said. If I wanted the other lawyer’s advice I would just hire the other lawyer. Also, telling me I am not “entitled” to certain things just makes me irritated. I wouldn’t use him again.

When my employer was needlessly stalling returning me to work after I was injured on the job, it looked as if I might never have my job back. ( More than a 14 months had passed since my doctor had released me to return to work .) The employer was making ridiculous excuses and hiring employees at a lower salary to fill my position. Mr. Ruggieri saw right through my employer's unethical tactics and had me back on the job within a matter of a few weeks after I hired him. I will always be grateful for his help.

I have no means to validate the claims and reviews of others, except: I have received written electronic communication from him to pay $500 to $1,000 upfront to handle my eviction case. I make no comments on his abilities as a lawyer nor if he has committed the acts others have accused him of. Based on these reviews, however, I probably will not use him. That's all I have to say.

I hired Mr brehme on October 28. 2022 wow was that a mistake , all he cares about is what you have in your bank account, Our trial was set for March 21,2023. I hired him to represent me in an uncontested divorce. He passed my file to one of his employees, a disbarred attorney. He had no idea what was going on with my case. He showed up to court unprepared and unaware of what is going on with my case. The great reviews about him seem bogus.

When he found out I had an inheritance, he turned my simple divorce into a very high conflict divorce. He is a high conflict clown who is old and incompetent. I hired him and followed HIS advice. I lost my children and I don't blame them. I am trying to regain a relationship with my children unsuccessfully. If I had to do my divorce/custody all over again, I would have not hired him. I lost my inheritance and my future with my children. They hate me and I blame McCabe for my losses.

I was really frustrated after reading some of these reviews. Leigh has been extremely supportive and encouraging during this difficult process. She is a matter of fact, tell it like it is kind of person but isn't that the kind of person you want standing up for you in court? Leigh's prices are so reasonable, I was so afraid I wouldn't be able to afford a lawyer and I prayed for a miracle. Leigh has been doing this for a long time and I am grateful for her knowledge, guidance and support. I am confident that walking into this courtroom with her by my side is the best choice I could have made.

Leigh was not reliable nor did she provide the effort you would expect when dealing with legal issues. I was very open and upfront with her regarding my case and needs as a client, but Leigh couldn't provide the same respect back. After my consultation, which I thought was comforting, I spent money immediately to retain her due to the complication of my case. Leigh showed up to every court hearing either as court checked in or had already started, which left no time to consult with her going into a hearing about expectations, needs, and facts required for judge. During the hearing, due to lack of consultation, I consistently had to try to provide input or request things on an instant before hearing would be over. After hearings is when Leigh would communicate with us, in which she charged for. After I received my first invoice, not only did she charge the incorrect rate, but she would charge for simple communication (reading and responding to my emails). Not only was her hours spent on tasks appearing to be inflated, Leigh also didn't provide a receipt for a cash transaction, then wouldn't credit the money provided to her until I gave my bank statement reflecting my atm withdrawl. She blamed "personal" reason as means to not crediting me, but I had to advise her multiple times she didn't credit me. Now comes the unethical aspect, which occurred every hearing. I'm not sure if race played a role in her character judgment, but Leigh would tell my wife and I we couldn't afford her nor the effort to fight for my rights as a father. This was the single most disrespectful and inappropriate thing I've ever been told, from someone I looked to for counsel. There was no indication of my ability to pay, when I keep my terms to our contract regarding payment. Then when asked to actually make effort to progress the case, Leigh consistently told me she couldn't do anything. Therefore it left me with no other choice but to move on from her services. BE CAUTIOUS IN RETAINING THIS ATTORNEY, she will force you to do all the footwork, legal processes, and more while she collects your money. Also, if you can't afford her suggestions, don't expect her to fight for you in your case. I believe Leigh thought she had a money case because of the high conflict I'm involved in, but she didn't expect me to be as efficient as I am in my case. Just as stated from the anonymous reviewer, they were 100% correct about Leigh. Dont believe me, theres other sites that have reviews on her as well dating back to 2009 of her poor and unethical work, in a simple Google search, which I do regret not doing before retaining her. I would highly suggest you review your invoices and contract before you make a legal decision.

Attorney Stephen Rocha was very rude and condescending on the phone. I had seen some previous reviews regarding him on Google but didn't want to judge based off on that. However, I was wrong. He was very short on the phone and seems to expect you to know about law with no background. That conversation was enough for me to determine NOT to use his services. Be wary of an attorney that works solo! It's likely because his personality is difficult to get along with.

My family and I have been working with Mr. Rocha for many years now, and he has been nothing less than the BEST! If you are looking for a lawyer that understands military Jargon, LES's, child support, child custody cases, move away cases and anything in between, this is the guy you want on your side. I have read many reviews posted by others regarding Mr. Rocha, and I have to say, none of them give a true insight of his character or legal knowledge. This guy knows his trade inside and out, but if you are looking for a soft spoken, passive lawyer, that is afraid to stand thier ground and fight for you! Then Mr. Rocha is clearly not the guy for you. I am a US Navy veteran, a military spouse and a mother with a special needs child, and Mr. Rocha was able to relate to my specific life style and work hard on all of my cases down the years, and get me the best results. He has never lost a case I hired him for, and this my friends is for one reason....Mr. Rocha is the best of the best and when it truly matters, this is the guy you are going to want in your corner. BTW....Never forget, in this life, you get what you pay for...and I paid for results!

I hired Mr. Rocha to file my divorce. All my interactions after payment were challenging at best. He was very rude and condescending.  I felt that he was shaming me for not knowing the law. He would interrupt me after 3-4 words into my question. Overall I felt he was harsh and treated me with very little respect and patience. He offers a flat rate fee of about 500 for uncontested divorce. Basically he gives you the paperwork, you fill it out, and he files it for you. An easy 500 in his bank account. I've been working in customer service for over a decade now, with a respectable large corporation that's been around since 1936 and is now one of the top 3 insurance agencies in the U.S. I feel that I'm very knowledable of how customers should be treated and want to be treated. My apologies to Mr.Rocha for not having gone to law school. I don't question his knowledge of law, but question his ability to empathize with his clients that are clearly going through a difficult time. Better customer support would have led me to pay for more services. However my interactions with Mr.Rocha led me to seek legal advice elsewhere.

I was referred to Bruce via the Orange County California State Bar Association. I came to Bruce in the late afternoon with a rushed legal matter that had a next day deadline to respond. I was referred to Mr. Stewart by two elder attorneys in the San Diego area. Mr Stewart was very helpful and extremely knowledgeable regarding not only the legal aspects of the elderly, but also how the elderly age and what the family may expect in the future. His recomendations regarding asset protection and medicare enrollment allowed my father to have health care far beyond what we could have provided otherwise. Scott's detailed estate plan also allowed us to provide personal private care for my father as my father's health declines. Scott also advised me on what skilled nursing facility would best serve my father's needs in our area. I have found Scott to be very personable and extremely wise in his consultation with me regarding complicated family estate planning issues. I have personally recommended several people already to Scott as I have received excellent advice from him.

My first meeting with Scott was wonderful. I was so nervous about my situation and he really took the time to listen and give a realistic strategy for how to handle my case. After that initial meeting, I had gathered all the information Scott needed and called back a week later. He didn't get back to me for 2 weeks. His secretaries attitude and attire were unprofessional every time I went down there, the way he handled my case was sloppy. Eventually when I called after trying to set up a second meeting for over a month his assistant Bonnie informed me that Scott wasn't even handling my case anymore. Having wasted over 2 months of my time, constantly being put on hold and never actually doing anything besides that initial meeting, he didn't even have the decency to say he wasn't handling my case anymore. My only recommendation for clients going to Scott is to find another lawyer.

As a geriatric care manager, I often need to refer clients to attorneys with a particular expertise in the areas of elder law and Medi-Cal planning. Mr. Stewart has extensive knowledge of eligibility criteria, asset protection strategies, and issues related to incapacity planning. He was a helpful advocate as my clients navigated their way through the benefits planning process and the transition into care in a long-term care facility. Even more importantly, he has continued to provide help and information beyond the Medi-Cal qualification process, which I greatly value and appreciate.

Top Questions to Ask a Lawyer

When meeting with a lawyer for the first time, it's important to ask the right questions to understand their expertise and determine if they're the right fit for your legal needs. Here are some top questions to consider:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. What potential outcomes can I expect from my case?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  4. What is your approach to handling cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. Who will be working on my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.
  7. What is the likely timeline for resolving my case?
Get an estimate of how long the process may take from start to finish.
  8. Do you have references from past clients?
Testimonials or references can provide insight into the lawyer's professionalism and effectiveness.
  9. What are the strengths and weaknesses of my case?
Understanding potential challenges helps you prepare and sets realistic expectations.
  10. Are there alternative ways to solve my legal problem?
Discuss options like mediation, arbitration, or settlement to resolve the issue efficiently.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
