I also had to threaten to go to the bar association. After stealing my money he knew I had to sell my car because he wouldn't keep his word, and little did I know he was getting his jollies.. I can send any of you emails showing how he handled my case and was on his knees swallowing what the defendant gave him to swallow. Some suggested it was a matter of bribery but it sure made no sense. Way to long to get into but I can email proof including how I won two lawsuits against the defendant after dunk quit the case. If you are the plaintiff than rest assured dunk is the best lawyer you can get to help the guy who you are suing

1. Took my case and never heard from him. 2. Had to badger him to take action. 3. After settlement, had to threaten to contact Cal Bar Assn. in order to get him to finally release my $$ from trust account. 4. Found out afterwards he failed to pay settlement money after negotiating it, so I had to personally pay fines he incurred.

If I could leave Zero stars, I would! Leticia is terrible lawyer. She started out by telling me I had a great case because we had compelling evidence. Including a video of the incident. She then dragged my case for three years and answers my calls and e-mails less. Each time we spoke, she was more and more uncertain that we could win, which should’ve been an easy case for her to win. She either doubted her ability to win in court, or just lied to me in the beginning. Additionally, every time I had a court date, she’d call me a day or two before saying the judge needs a continuation. Even after I had already left the state and bought flight tickets to come back. She is either very incompetent, very lazy, or just a liar and all around bad lawyer. I should have asked for a better of once I felt that she was dragging me along. In the end she kept offering me plea deals, even after I told her that’s not what I want to do. She still continued to do so and eventually I caved, pled guilty and took a plea because this case should’ve NEVER taken this long. I HIGHLY recommend if you are unfortunate enough to get her as a lawyer. Don’t let her drag you along, or just get a different lawyer all together.

Leticia is not the greatest lawyer . She talks a big game and doesn't back it up. She was appointed to me to help with my case. The 2 meeting we first had together she was telling me that she would fight for me and do everything she could to get a fair outcome . Well that never happened and she never meet with the proSecutor to talk about my case and never informed me that she is no longer handling my case . Scrabbling at the last minute to find out what's going on and finding out the day before I had a court date the following day . I went in to court with no lawyer that knows my case and I got hit hard . This was very unprofessional on Laticia part . It really shows that she is not a good lawyer and has very little experience in this feild she is in .

William Naumann, principal of the NaumannLawFirm located in San Diego, California, took over our complex construction defect claim after a previous law firm had severely damaged it. Our home was broken and the cost to repair the defective conditions was more than we could afford. The previous firm had done virtually nothing for nearly a year, so initially we were ecstatic that after reviewing our claims and evidence,MrNaumann expressed confidence and accepted our matter on contingency. He represented he would pursue it through trial which was extremely important to us as we knew we would have difficulty finding another attorney if Naumann breached his agreement. We saw the Naumann firm as a white knight coming to our recue. He even committed to resolving outstanding issues with previous counsel. It wasn’t long before we saw the Naumann firm doing exactly what the previous firm had done, virtually nothing. Naumann immediately put his junior attorney, Philip M. Kunka, who only had a few years of experience and followed his employer’s example by also doing virtually nothing. Then, within just a few short months of taking our case, no discovery and little more than a few discussions with experts who were already a part of the case, Naumann recommended (against our better judgment) and eventually convinced us to settle with a few of the parties for only a small part of our total damages, promising that he understood the case and assuring us that the liabilities of the remaining parties would allow us to fix our home.He promised to aggressively pursue those parties. We had no idea of the serious damage this settlement would cause to the remainder of the case until much, much later. Unfortunately, we trusted Naumann. But after settling those few parties and collecting his fee, Naumann returned to doing nothing, for the next several months, and running the clock on a looming court date. Naumann did not conduct any discovery, did not listen to experts in the matter, did not take a single deposition in nearly one year of stepping into the case. Then, with just a few months before trial, he informed us that we had a very weak case and should settle with all remaining parties for whatever they were willing to offer. We believe this was contrived solely because Naumann did not want to take the case to trial, the remaining work would be substantial and he knew the damage he had done by settling. When we refused and demanded Naumann do the work he promised to do and get ready for trial, Naumann and Philip Kunka filed a motion with the court making what we believed to be false representations to convince the court to grant a continuance. We were never informed they had asked for a continuance until after it was granted. Then, immediately after the Court granted the continuance Naumann informed us he was quitting our case. This was nothing more than a betrayal and resulted in complete devastation to the case. They had so thoroughly finished damaging our case that no other law firm would accept the matter. The Naumann Law firm did nothing proactive in our case for over a year in that they conducted no discovery, took no depositions and refused to listen to us and their own experts. They failed to keep us properly informed as required by their own ethical standards and even misrepresented facts and our wishes to the court for their own ends. After a five-year, nightmarish journey, our family not getting fairness from contractors and design professionals, and then our own attorneys making a terrible situation so much worse, we feel compelled to share our horrific experience with the Naumann Law Firm in the hope it may help others. We feel betrayed by these men who essentially usedus by settling with themost culpable defendants for a fraction ofwhat the damages were, basically grabbing the low hanging fruit and then abandoned our case. It is our opinion that Naumann never intended to do the work or properly prosecute our claims

This attorney has only one priority, his own personal life. My divorce case had nothing done on it for a year. I was handed off to another attorney at the last minute. There was no interrogatories, no discovery, no updates, no nothing. He claimed he was too stressed out from his own marriage problems to handle any of his clients. I lost everything, including my sought after 50/50 custody of my kids, all of my money, and I have to file bankruptcy. He has no malpractice insurance so no malpractice attorney would even look at what he had done. Next to my soon to be ex wife, he is the biggest mistake that I have ever made. I have all documentation and extensive notes to prove all.

Chris S. Evans of the Gupta Evans Firm, was Hired to file a motion in our case, that had already been to trial, motion to deny fees and costs. On September 13th, 2018, agreed to do this for max of $5,000 and 4,000 to be paid now as retainer. It took three weeks from sept 13th, 2018 to October 28th 2018, for the results of the motion filed. 3 days after the conclusion of this motion I opened an email stating I owed a total of $28,000. I emailed back and asked what this was in regard to and this was not ever discussed. No phone calls or emails were returned to me by Gupta and or Evans. Now Christopher Evans and his partners are suing me to get 28,000. This is not a decision I or my husband would make for our family and have suffered great stress due to these billing practices at Gupta, Evans. We would never have hired them or continued their services had we known what they were billing. This large sum of money needs to be discussed with clients and is a breach of trust with a client to not discuss spending money or the option not to. We had been Pro Se in the courts for two years on this matter. We would have continued pro se had we known what was happening.

We hired Mr Angus to help us with a trademark that represented issues at the USPTO. He appeared to have understood the case and claimed he could fix it. The outcome was that he could not defend our case with the USPTO examiners, although when we hired him, he was confident that there was no issue. When we shared our concerns, he stopped returning calls and emails.

I made a mistake in my past which ended up in me being detained in CCA. my husband hired Robin Carr to help me she went to CCA with her then assistant Manuel. They talked to me and then got me out. Once out I had to go to her office and make arrangements to see what I had to get to her for my court. I talked to her and then set another date to come back from there on I had trouble contacting her I would always end up getting advise from her assistant Manuel they would always say that she was out or in the Chula Vista location . I went to see the Jude she met me there. The judge said that it was an easy case to take the paper work for the final court and it would all be over with. it took 2 years of back and forth back and forth with misinformation and not being able to talk to my lawyer directly oh but when it was time to collect money they sure would find me even at a tire shop but I could never find her. In the end I ended up with a deportation order and all she said was sorry but if you get me 1000 dollars I can see if I can open your case again. My husband said I would be crazy to trust her sure enough I didn't . I looked for another lawyer and it was not easy to have found someone to take me out of that mess but thank goodness I did I would never send anyone to be helped by Robin!

We went to Ms. Yianilos for a consultation about my wife's immigration status. She did nothing to educate herself about my wife's situation before our meeting. She asked us questions to get more information so that she could do research later to suggest a strategy. She spent much of the consultation talking about her connections to various blues musicians. We tolerated it politely but cared nothing for it. Then she said we owed her $200 for the consultation. This was NEVER mentioned before. Avoid her.

I worked with this firm on a small project. I confirmed the project, and made sure to re-confirm the cost of a project and capture it in an email. When the bill came, it was essentially double. I spoke to them about it, and instead of taking responsibility for their error, they simply tried to negotiate with me over what I would pay, even though our arrangement was clearly laid out in an email. For a firm that has very high bill rates, this is certainly not the way I would have hoped they would conduct business.

Malcolm is in it for the money paid to him by insurance companies. When he gets tired of the case, he settles, leaving the client with a huge settlement amount and searching for a insurance company that will cover them. My case would have been easliy won in court, but he scared the insurance claims agent so bad she offered a large settlement causing me undo stress. I worked very hard for over a year proving the case only to be let down at the first mediation. he didn't even put up a fight for me there, just rolled over on me. I will live with this the rest of my life, knowing he let a criminal be awarded with a large some of money.

Dude is incapable of any exhibit of strength or power. Misrepresented me to the max. Cost me over 100k and barely spoke on my behalf in court. OPC walked all over him time and time again and the best he could do was whimper like a sissy. Kept pushing me to go to trial even after I fired him. Said he was doing the best he could. I replied, “You might want to rethink your profession!” Totally incompetent. Never followed my instruction. Only billed me almost literally to death. Then started pulling in the partners, tripling the billable fees. Without consulting me first. Then when I did fire the firm called several times to pressure me to go to trial and keep them retained.

i hired this attorney for a child custody battle, and he kept me so uninformed, took my money, and didnt even stand up for me, his response time, took too long, and at the end of the court hearing, i wanted to hire my ex-husbands attorney, because she "fought" for him, my advice is lawyers are expensive, but we are the ones conducting the "job" interviews, do more research and homework, so you know exactly what you want out of your lawyer, and to ensure the outcome is FAIR!

When Susan Rosen was "handed" my cases after I was passed around with the law offices of Beatrice Snider, on our first phone call she YELLED at me and told me that "she was the one to do the talking "(?!?!?) . She was so rude, not even well spoken and bossy. When I told B. Snider this, to her credit, she apologized and recognized Rosen's inappropriateness. I was hoping Rosen would be a bull dog against my high powered husband, but instead, she bullied me. She could not answer questions about my case and was not up to date. I was to pay her to "catch up" on all that already transpired. It was when Rosen has my case that I fired her because the firm dragged the divorce out and made excuses and encouraged hostility between my and my x to be. Susan Rosen was particularly rude. She sets the standard for bad attorneys and gives them all a bad reputation.

Top Questions to Ask a Lawyer

When meeting with a lawyer for the first time, it's important to ask the right questions to understand their expertise and determine if they're the right fit for your legal needs. Here are some top questions to consider:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. What potential outcomes can I expect from my case?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  4. What is your approach to handling cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. Who will be working on my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.
  7. What is the likely timeline for resolving my case?
Get an estimate of how long the process may take from start to finish.
  8. Do you have references from past clients?
Testimonials or references can provide insight into the lawyer's professionalism and effectiveness.
  9. What are the strengths and weaknesses of my case?
Understanding potential challenges helps you prepare and sets realistic expectations.
  10. Are there alternative ways to solve my legal problem?
Discuss options like mediation, arbitration, or settlement to resolve the issue efficiently.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
