Marlene handled my brother's probate case, and did an outstanding job. She always promptly responded to my questions, was very professional and compassionate, and was just a pleasure to work with all the way around. Not living in the area, I found Marlene through a Google search, which turned out to be a lucky move, because I couldn't be happier with the service she provided.

I interviewed a number of different lawyers and while all were knowledgable. Rachel distinguished herself with her friendly but very practical demeanor. She was efficient, empathetic yet realistic, extremely easy to talk to, and honest. Compared to the other lawyers that I met with, I found her easy to relate to and felt she understood my situation and challenges very quickly. We ended up using a mediator but Rachel provided excellent counsel when I needed it, especially towards the end of our process. Importantly, however, she prepared me well to enter into mediation. I feel the mediation process was more efficient because I got great advice from Rachel in the one hour consult we had prior. Prior to our meeting, I had sent her a lengthy e-mail outlining the issues and my priorities. She took the time to read through this and had questions for me when we met. I felt this was respectful of my time and resulted in a much more productive, focused discussion with clear action items for me as a result. At the end of the day, divorce is a business transaction with a lot of emotion attached. Rachel made it a more pleasant experience throughout. And while I did not need her as much as I anticipated (thankfully), I have heard others give her extremely high marks for getting the job done. In fact a friend of mine had a few lawyers before connecting with Rachel and once connected, her divorce was expedited. Our mediator, who is very well known in our county, spoke highly of Rachel too which gave me a lot of comfort.

Asked Rachel about how to process a modification to child support. She said she could fill paperwork out and do this. Turn out, she is completely wrong and I have to go through court. Not only did she cost me time and money, but she delayed the modification dramatically. Terrible and unprofessional.

I was extremely pleased with Rachel Castrejon. Of course, divorce is a very difficult time in ones life. The process can be alien and intimidating. However, Rachel guided me through extremely well. Of course, she knows the law and various courses of action very well. She was technically very proficient, but more importantly, she did an excellent job of answering my questions and giving helpful and prudent advice. I honestly never once felt Rachel was "in this for the money" and appreciated that she was looking for the optimal outcome for me, for the least amount of legal fees. I would unhesitatingly recommend Rachel Castrejon to anyone.

This is the most unprofessional and disorganized law firm I have ever encountered in 40 years of practice. Multiple calls and emails to the office went unanswered and messages unreturned. The few times a person did answer, there was no apparent record in the file of actions taken. A signed lien was not honored.

Hats off to Mr. Johnson & his courteous front desk staff also. All around real nice. THANKS

Working with an estate planning attorney can be somewhat intimidating and requires that you give them more personal information than anyone else that you have dealt with. They know your finances, your family situation, your fears and hopes regarding your demise and more...so it is extremely important that you are comfortable with your estate attorney to make the process a little easier and less stressful. This was the second time that I had our Living Trust revised and chose Christine Hoburg of Kelley and Farren Law Firm to make the necessary changes. She immediately saw some flaws in my previous Trust and brought them to our attention along with suggestions of how to correct the flaws. Christine spent whatever time was necessary to get the appropriate information from us and help us lay it out it such a way as to meet our wishes for the future. When there were better ways of laying it out, she made those suggestions. Christine understands how sensitive the information that we supplied her with and was totally respectful and trust worthy in the handling that information. She made the process significantly less stressful and easier than we had anticipated and we would highly recommend her services to friends and relatives in the future.

We cannot recommend Carolyn Farren, not sure about the others. Farren has questionable ethics, works underhanded, is not trustworthy. People like her who put on seminars are usually trolling for clients from trusting and vulnerable seniors. This one has proven to be a bad apple.

Sharon Mah is the worst lawyer in CA. Only panders to Judge Adams and other local attorneys to curry favor. Run don’t walk from this law office. I was completely destroyed financially. From a California Attorney: Sharon Mah continually opens and closes offices to erase reviews of her performance as a divorce attorney and officer of the court. She has an extensive history of representing spousal abusers, sidestepping bright ethical and moral lines to extend the reach and power of abusive spouses and abusive parents. She will set aside her professional obligations to damage or destroy your spouse's career. She must counsel on criminal law as her instructions to clients pose legal jeopardy. As one erased reviewer, a client of Attorney Mah explained, she is the perfect tool to destroy the lives around you, the psychological and emotional health of your children and should be hired if these are your goals. A lawyer who counsels' clients to take children to psychiatrists without obtaining required legal consent to try to get negative information to be used to deny custody? Uhuh. A lawyer who instructs and advises clients to steal highly valuable documents from secure locations, conspiring to hide them, personally taking possession and refusing to return them? Indeed. Making misrepresentions to the court like drinking water? Yup. Creating false representations about the role she takes, creating the false and fraudulent impression to the court and community that a client is representing himself since the lawyer's reputation for improper, illegal, unethical and fraudulent acts could damage a client's case? Terrible. As another erased reviewer recommended, call her immediately and do not hire her --- this way, your spouse cannot hire her either. This is her own advice to her clients in order to manipulate the selection of mediators, child services personnel and court judges to assure that only the most biased and toxic actors are inserted into your family's life. If your spouse has hired Sharon Mah, you need to use available resources to challenge her ability to serve in any capacity in your case. Do it. There are many fine, ethical attorneys to choose from. If you feel an urge to find a soldier to destroy your spouse, stop and find yourself help. She's old school, very old school and may just have missed the common understanding that abuse of a spouse includes abuse through litigatio. And to this particular point you should consider Ms. Mah a master enabler and even straight-up abuser of counterparties and other lawyers using her law license as a cudgel. It's quite disturbing to see her use professional standing and tenure to create human destruction against innocent adults and children alike. Thankfully, the justice system is evolving and recognizing abuse and abusers operating within family law system. The future looks better, with specific criminal statutes addressing the above behavior and criminalizing the type of deplorable actions which Ms. Mah has made a cornerstone of her career. Side deals, improper relationships with commissioners and judges, and corruption in the system of mediators and family law experts are being rooted out. Public corruption investions have done a little to chill these abuses, but the responsibility of allowing black hearts near your personal life and the lives of your children. Since she is best matched to spousal abusers, the damage to children is far down the priority list for such clients so as long as she's allowed to hold a license she'll find the clients who fit her professional mission and lack of care or commitment to the California justice system. She may be long retired or forced out of the business before such criminal statutes are finalized in California, so in the meantime I offer this warning and advice on how to manage and avoid just one danger of many that can certainly cause serious damage to you. Resist the urge to win at all costs because after selecting Ms Mah as legal counsel to carry on abuse of a spouse through litigation and child custody horrors will result in exactly that.

A couple year ago I got arrested for Peyote. For those who don't know what that is; It's a spineless Cactus plant that the Natives uses for Ceremonies (Prayer Meetings). Which I didn't know at the time was Classified as a(drug), an Illegal substance?! Anyway, I was racially profiled by a Police Officer, and eventually consented to a search upon which he discovered a small amount of peyote in my bag. I was arrested and charged with a Felony. I contacted Roxanne Mosley right away, and got her on the Case. About 18hrs later I was released from the Alameda County jail. In less than a Month the case was thrown out. I was a free and innocent man once again. Without proper representation the System can swallow you up. Her passion is to avoid that by any means. I'm just one out of many, that I have knowledge of her helping. And she can definitely help you. Thanks to the Law Office of Roxanne Mosley! He handled two criminal cases for me and really got down to where my faults were and made me look into my life and has changed my life for me. Saved me from doing 7 years in prison to 18 months in county and now back on the right path. My life would have been different without his knowledge of the law and hard Ass approach in court. I can't thank him enough and I recommend him to anyone.

I could not have got through my situation without him or his awesome staff who held my hand the whole time. Yes he is tough but if that's not what you're looking for then this is not the lawyer for you. You don't want some wimpy lawyer defending you. All my charges were dropped and not to sound all after school special but they really save me. You will not be disappointed.

Ted helped me in both my criminal and my family case. I cant speak on other people's experiences, but he is the only person that advised me on exactly what was going to happen. He did not sugar coat anything, and honesty is sometimes brutal. I would def recommend this guy!

Sharon Mah is the worst lawyer in CA. Only panders to Judge Adams and other local attorneys to curry favor. Run don’t walk from this law office. I was completely destroyed financially. Her great work enabled my deadbeat spouse to take our childrens’ college funds. The worst. Go to Bley and Bley in SF. You will get what you pay for.

Mr Marowitz is very knowledgeable and gives in depth answers to questions, which I believe is crucial when choosing an attorney (rather than hiring someone that keeps you out of the loop of your legal proceedings). He proves to have the most in depth understanding of the law and is experienced in analyzing a proper method of defense. Thank you Michael!

I found Richard online in 2013 shortly after my son was born. At the time, I was in an extremely difficult position because I was stationed in Kentucky and had no access to my son. Richard helped me get court-ordered visitation so that I can fly out and see my son regularly in addition to getting me visitation to see my son multiple days every week to see my son via FaceTime. If it wasn't for Richard, I wouldn't have been able to do this because I did not know how to navigate the court system at that time. Richard also wrote me a supporting letter to submit to my supervisors allowing me to move back to California ultimately leading to a actual parenting plan. Years later, Richard consulted with me and helped me with a request for 50-50 custody, which I now have. Today, I have a happy and healthy six-year-old son. I cannot thank Richard and his team enough for his help.

This attorney acted as a mediator recently in a family law case in which I was a party. I was very surprised in her poor performance overall because she seemed to command the respect of both counsel throughout. Yet, she was not focused on the issues of the parties themselves, preferring to ignore individual interests in favor of streamlining process. Her objective appeared to be a fast and loose negotiation for resolution, despite the fact she demonstrated very little command of the underlying details themselves. She established no written agenda for the 3 sessions I attended, often appeared unprepared (or just winging it) and would always revert back to court-defined procedural requirements instead of a negotiated settlement between the parties. Her style of mediation is directed at counsel, not the parties themselves.

I am a home owner at Anchorage, Sausalito for 30 years. A check of $9,400 was cut by Farmers Insurance to reimburse my negligence claim to my HOA on 9/14/18. Check was held by his firm since then. It has not been released to me, nor have any communication or reason given by his firm. Very dishonest practice to say the least. I will not trust him.

Glenn Youngling illegally charged me $325.05 for services unrendered. I requested a one sentence letter confirming my HOA dues for my lender. Anna Kates his paralegal refused to write the letter. Then proceeded to charge me $325.05 and placing a lien on my house for the unwritten letter. I have written numerous emails requesting this error be corrected since November 2017. I have had no response.

My name is Mr. Allison Barton and I am a homeowner at 200 Brannan St. in San Francisco. The 200 Brannan Owners Association's original legal counsel was Mr. Glenn Youngling. In the process of settling construction defects with the developer (Lennar) it became very evident that significant chicanery (inclusive of unethical, tortious, and likely criminal activity) was taking place. All of which Mr. Glenn Youngling was either involved with or had knowledge of. My personal inquiries and concerns (as to what was taking place with my property and interests) with Mr. Glenn Youngling became very adversarial simply because (as best I could tell) he and others involved were desperate for their actions and/or activities to not be exposed. The statements I make are my honest opinion.

Attorney Riede handling family estate matters for deceased father. Very dishonest attorney won't provide me with a copy of my father's will or trust fund instructions that I am named in. Agreed to audit of family trust funds do to brothers embezzlement, one acting as sole trustee forced to repay trusts for embezzling nearly 20k caught by family member paid back to trusts to avoid prosecution. More cases of this in family trusts, overwhelming evidence well supported by financial records, all attorneys inolved agreed to provide all parties the audit yet attorney Riede reneged. He threatened me that he would force me to go through all my money in Marin Co. Courts and still wouldn't provide me anything relative to my case. Its working, unfortunately! I can't even provide my family any guarantee that if I die before family estate is settled that she would receive anything. Also botched up a lot of family estate paperwork, trustee changes, directions to beneficiaries in trusts, etc.. I mean what kind of attorney won't provide an independent fiduciary audit of family trust funds? A dishonest one that's who............good luck!

  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
