Terry answers and routes people needing help to the right legal and other resources competently. Even though she communicates in a Yankee dialect that reminds me of someone from the Northeast. She might be a local, who knows. We needed help with a senior and Terry thought of all the right directions to take. I have confidence this law firm has what it takes to help you.

Andrea has represented me twice in court now and both time she's done amazing. She comes prepared and makes great points and arguments. During difficult situations Andrea has been able to not get me 50/50, realistic child support and also help defend me and got me everything I asked her for so far. She sets realistic expectations and is honest, caring and brilliant. I will also say her paralegal, Tammy, is on point and a rock.

Excellent, definitely a five star Firm! Is all I can say to the attorney and staff at “For Men Family Law.” I have been involved with this law firm for several years over a variety of cases, and I recommend them to everyone. They have taken so much stress off of me. My case had a variety of complexity’s, in which For Men Family Law convinced the commissioner to appoint a guardian ad litem to unveil what’s been actually going on. Their staff knows their stuff that’s for sure! Nothing seems to get past them. This firm is extremely knowledgeable and available, genuinely cares. And that means the most to me with my busy schedule. If I have an issue or question and send an email I get a quick respond every time. The amazing attorney there is a wonderful person! The firm has strong morals and believes in truth and honesty. I admire that very much as well as they stands for truth and justice, will fight for your rights! I recommend “For Men Family Law,” to anyone who needs a great strong attorney as well as an amazing and dedicated paralegal. The firm operates in a very intelligent, genuine, and caring way. I am so very happy I found them!. This team is one awesome team! Thank you all.

I hired her in 2017 about July for a standard parenting plan, who then proceeded to do nothing until i knocked on her door that november, furious gonna fire the lady. They assured me they would hop on it and get things done. the following summer around august nothing still has happened except my daughter being taken out of the country. They charged ME to do their job. In which i looked up applicable laws wrote a letter and got my resolution, christmas after spamming her garbage answering service 27 calls i finally got her to answer to which i give her 30 days to do something. Nothing of course was done, by the time March 2019 is over she is fired and i find she charged me $2400+ to do nothing. In addition she thought it necessary to contact my mother to plead for her status as my lawyer. A person she was not authorized to communicate with about my case or her dealings with me. Yes I filed a grievance and no I am not at all done.

I thought long and hard about how I wanted to have redress from this attorney, who I believe overcharges. I tried reaching out to her after my matter finished in court, but she ignored me. I had a family court matter that I needed to be adjudicated in Washington. It was mutually agreed between my ex-spouse and me, a straightforward case. The case was initially in New York State, but since no party no longer lives there, I thought it would be wise to have registered in the jurisdiction in which the children live, as they will be graduating high school soon. My ex and I came up with an agreement, just needed a lawyer to handle the mechanics and file it. Neither of us had to appear in court; there were no hearings, no trial. Connie charged me 7500 dollars for what was a routine matter. Stay away from this attorney; you will be asked to sign a ‘minimum fee’ agreement, not a ‘retainer’; I wish I had paid closer attention, my mistake can be your learning experience. If she works 1 hour or 50, you pay the same. I think she violates Washington statutes about excessive fees, but I have a life and decided to move on. Learn from my experience, find another attorney, this one had the paralegal draw everything up, using forms that anyone can download from the state (fill-in forms). I only talked to Connie for about 20 minutes during the entire process, is that worth $7500? For a routine matter? No, it is not. Find another attorney that has reasonable fees. I speak as someone that has had lawyers in the NY metro area were the rates are much higher and have represented myself in court on both child support and custody. There is no way she earned that $7500, I specifically asked for an accounting (along with my complaint about the fee) of all the time spent, both by email and in writing. I was ignored, so now I take to the forums.

Emily was just the greatest. I didn't have my kids and I felt like my whole life was over. Emily took the time to sit down and just guide me through everything. We've been through so much together, I had to do treatment and had a few issues, but she stood up for me in court and was a real fighter. Even when all the prosecutors and social workers were all against me, and said there's no hope you just got to give it up, Emily was in my corner! She is so awesome! She helped me understand what I needed to do, and I made it through. My kids are with me, I have a new place now, and they are in school and doing good. I am so happy I listened to Emily and got through the whole thing. I really coulln't have done it without her.

I will never forget the day I was appointed Emily Nelson as my new attorney in my cps case... The joy of getting a new lawyer, after having 2 previous outright lazy/non caring court appointed lawyers, I really thought that it couldn't get any worse... Well I was yet to get the biggest shock of my entire life.. To make a very long story short, I'll start by saying that from the very first meeting with Emily, she was already ready to be done with my case, it was always some really weird conversation with her about how I should do one thing this way then literally the next week her saying "ok nevermind let's go about it this way" and as soon as I would start doing something she had recommended, bam "now let's do it the original way" I mean this kept up the entire 6 plus months I had her for my attorney.. Though there is soo much more this woman has wrongfully done to me, as well consequently to my family, I'll finish by saying that the most disturbing of it all was when my termination trial was fastly approaching, she told me over and over that I did not need to appear for the trial if that was the choice I'd like to make as we'd been discussing the idea of me not attending as my in-laws and a lot of their friends would be there to take the stand against me, and since the judge allowed them to attend because of open court policy, I would have to be in their presence, so with already having anxiety issues, that was not an option I could bear, so Emily told me not to worry about going, that she'd have everything covered without me having to attend.. Well the trial came and went and to this day (months later) I have never heard again from Emily, no phone call, no email, nothing in the mail, and in fact never again heard from my social worker in my case, or my children's ad litem, just didn't hear from absolutely no one, nothing from the court's either. The only way I and the father to my children found out we lost custody of our children was through the grapevine to at which time I heard that at the day of the termination trial Emily had stood in front of the judge and said "I have nothing to address to the court as my client (me) has fired her" I just about lost it hearing this betrayal (I of course never fired her) from the one person that told me she would take of my case as straightforward and as passionately as she has all her client's before me (I guess I should of known better); My case was, as Emily also stated, a shut and close case, all about a messy house that got out of hand due to recovering from my 4th c-section with bleeding complications months after... Please I beg of anyone considering Emily Nelson as their next lawyer, just don't risk it, there are plenty of other lawyers out there that most likely don't carry that kind of deviant behavior... I'm just writing this review in hopes to prevent someone else from going through the heartache such as I have. Thanks for taking the time to read this, and sorry for it being so long.

Christopher S. Crago referred my “open & shut” case to his former professor and mentor from Gonzaga University, Professor Milton G. Rowland, one year before the statute-of-limitations ran out on my TORT claim against the VA Hospital. I paid Milton Rowland $1000 in check form as a retainer for legal filings. He lost the check, never told me, found the check then deposited it after the statue-of limitations had expired on my case. He filed 10 days late with another client’s case pasted into my claim. It failed due to statute of limitations running out, not the ridiculous filing which included another of his clients. A teary-eyed Milton said he would retire and help me claim against his malpractice insurance, which he stated he had never used in his career. This was a stalling tactic he offered at every conversation until I said "Okay" thinking he was trying to get me off his books. He immediately "FIRED" me and said he was no longer my attorney. Before this and without my knowledge Milton’s decided to try a “work around” and filed a completely unproductive BIVEN’S claim that was a further stalling tactic, the judge stated it was impossible to serve as written and was very confusing. No one was ever served because he failed to list them. Milton directed me to McNeice Wheeler, who is full of his Gonzaga students, they spoke of the love for Milton, his family, and his difficulties in life etc., (see court transcripts for those details after my case is heard in court. CASE #: 22-2-00580-32). Then these former Gonzaga students stated they don't handle that type of claim. NOW, that Milton Rowland cost me my only avenue for justice against the Veterans Administration, I reached back out to Christopher S. Crago. His response, “Hi Eric - The attorneys at McNeice Wheeler are reviewing your case. I am not a litigator so I am unable to assist you.” Chris (From iPhone) Christopher Crago offered no apologies for adding to the devastation I have already endured by his throwing a “bone” to a former Gonzaga teacher who is not the attorney he once was. Thank you, Chris, FOR YOUR SERVICE.

If you're looking for a lawyer to speak to you with compassion and understanding during what is likely a very stressful time in your life, I strongly advise you to look elsewhere. If you're looking for aggressive representation and an advocate who genuinely has your best interests at heart, this is not the place for you. You deserve a lawyer who will treat you with respect and fight for your interests.

I missed a court date that his office never notified me about. He was unprepared for hearings and said he had other cases going. That cost me $1,500 In her attorney fees. He never sent the $23,000 check back. That cost me another $1,500 in attorney fees. I had to search the court docket and notify him of this court date. He apologized for not sending the check back and said he’d make it right. When I told him he could cover the fees and not charge me his, he filed to remove himself as counsel. Gave the wrong email address so I was not notified. I had to see it searching to see if I had anymore court dates.

She seemed knowledgeable speaking to her about our situation she said she needed to get some information and promised us she would call us back. Many days went by so we called her had to leave a message asked her to call. Nothing. Many more days went by sent her an email to call us. Nothing. So, i've had the pleasure to work with Tamara for a few years now, off and on regarding a very different style of case. Started with a divorce, child custody, and parenting plan, and a change to parenting plan. During all the hard times of this mess, Tamara stayed well orgnized, and kept me well informed. She acted not only as an attorney, but as an advocate, and a friend. Tamara did not blow things out of proportion, or give false hope regarding any aspect. She had her paperwork always well in order, and never skipped a beat. The one thing that stands about most about her is the way she handels herself and stands her ground on behalf of her clients. She will not back down from what is right, and always keep you at ease. As wierd as it may sound, during my darkest hour, she never strayed. She stayed the course, and eventually got us through what looked like a point of no return. Awesome does not even come close to describing Tamara. She's all around a rock star!

Tamara worked with me in a very contentious divorce settlement. She did an excellent job in every way. She is organized, meticulous, and above all, calm. She did her best to deal with issues in a fair and organized manner, while being aware of, and trying to keep a lid on, the emotions involved in a typical divorce case. The case ended well, for both myself and my ex-wife, I believe. Bottom line is - Tamara gave me excellent, and professional service. I would recommend her without reservation. She has my respect, and my thanks.

As somebody who worked in top law firms, I can say that Michelle is not a very good lawyer. She is not thorough and we later found out that she has a reputation of not being thorough, which is the worst quality for a lawyer. Needs some work on communication. Took her a while to get back to us and some messages were not answered. She could also stand to be more aggressive instead of nice. I would not recommend.

I was laid off 38 days after filing a hostile-work-environment sexual harrasment complaint at my organization. I knew this complaint was a key factor in my layoff. I turned to Michelle, who had also instructed me in a course at Whitworth University, and she walked me through my options. Instead of going through a long lawsuit process, I was able to negotiate a larger severance pay. This enabled me to stand up for myself without damaging my professional reputation in a small community. This was a perfect solution for me and my family. If I have similar needs in the future, I'll absolutely use her again.

My ex husband hired PNW on two separate occasions for the same case. I feel bad for the attorneys who represented him but they soon saw the type of person their client really is. His first attorney Denisa definitely tried and would actually respond to my emails (I'm the opposing party). She shortly dropped him as a client and would not re-represent him. His last attorney Olaf, I felt bad for him at first but I learned very quickly he already got his money and WOULD NOT answer any questions directly and would dance around the conversation. He wouldn't even defend his client. If you choose to go through PNW they are extremely cheap/affordable but understand you get what you pay for. You are WAY better off representing yourself than to have Olaf on your side. Denisa puts in the work and will fight for you...at least better than Olaf. I never had an attorney and I have the original parenting plan back in place from 5 years ago.

1) Drivers in Washington do not receive points on their license because Washington does not use a points-based system. Rather, drivers in Washington can have their license suspended for violations like DUIs, lapses in insurance coverage, or 3 serious offenses in 5 year 2)This does not change the offense from a moving violation to a non moving so my insurance is still taking the same hit 3) after speaking with my insurance agent he tells me that the difference in tickets will actually save me $0 on my coverage This deal was made more so to behoove your firm than it was made so on behalf of me (your client). Please consider giving me some sort of reimbursement for this. I think we can all agree that this isnt what happens in most contested hearing situations.

My lawyer's approach to my speeding ticket felt like a joke. Instead of providing proper representation, she took an easier route by converting it into a non-moving violation using a fabricated offense. This decision resulted in much higher fines. What's worse, she didn't contest it to lower the penalty, leaving me paying around five times more than the original fine including lawyer fees of $250. The lack of communication was frustrating—I wasn't informed about this strategy at all. Had I known, I would've strongly objected. It's clear this move was intentionally aimed at avoiding fee refunds due to the website's (through which I hired here) money-back guarantee. Instead of giving proper representation they settle for such things and call it a SUCCESS! Opting to pay the original fine of $70 could've led to my insurance forgiving the violation, saving me over $500. Overall, this experience was disappointing and lacked the professionalism I expected.

I received a speeding ticket in a neighboring county. This was my first ticket and I was unsure about what to do. After giving Anna my ticket as well as my contact information, I didn't have to worry about it anymore. Once they got to the resolution point, they reached out to me and explained everything. They explained that a dismissal was not an option because the police report for my case was airtight, but that they would be able to amend my ticket to a non-moving violation instead of a speeding ticket. This ensured that my insurance did not go up which is exactly what I was hoping for. I have recommended them to everyone I know, and they have all been happy with their results as well.

I recommend this attorney very highly. I consulted Lisa Brewer concerning divorce proceedings that involved two novel features. One involved a proverbial rock and hard place. Lisa Brewer was thoughtful and creative on that matter and produced a game changing list of action items. In consulting her she was honest and direct; getting to the bottom line in a manner demonstrating integrity. I recommend Lisa Brewer very highly

I hired Lisa for my child custody case and she did an exceptional job. My case was extremely difficult with many issues that weren’t expected. She helped me understand the process and guided me through every step. She’s very honest and straight forward and her experience is what I needed in order to get through this complicated and stressful case. She’s very supportive and truly cares. Without the help of lisa I would not have had the successful outcome I have had. Lisa is an amazing attorney who I’m extremely grateful for. I highly recommend her.

I had one consultation with Lisa Brewer during a very difficult divorce. My experience with Lisa was horrible, she was unprofessional, condescending, kept interrupting me and was very judgmental. I left her office in tears because she was so rude and had zero compassion. I would not recommend Lisa Brewer and will never use her services.

I would give 0 stars if I could. Stay away from Adrain at all cost. She acts like she knows what she is doing then knows nothing and fails in court. What a complete waste of money and she over charges to being with. Adrain, she is a joke, I would avoid her, don’t learn the hard way like we did!

The case that I had was a difficult and unfortunate one for any parent to have to go through. It was a continual roller coaster of emotions as a parent, and Jacob was empathetic the entire way with no judgment. There were multiple twists and turns along the way and he was able to be a creative flexible thinker throughout. Jacob was very responsive and efficient with his time and mine. The conversations were very candid and he ensured I understood all possible outcomes so nothing would be of surprise. In the end, the case went in my favor and he made sure it was buttoned up neat and tight. I would recommend Jacob and his team to any individual seeking counsel in family matters!

Mr. Allen represented me as a very professional and knowledgeable attorney during my family law case. I highly recommend Mr. Allen to anyone whom may find themselves in the unfortunate situation of needing a family law attorney. Mr. Allen's communication skills are impeccable, keeping me informed every step of the way while giving me sound legal advice. Although Mr. Allen and myself maintained a professional relationship during my case I feel as though we are parting ways as feiends. Mr. Allen is extremely personable and a very good listener. My case was quite complex yet Mr. Allen was well-informed of even the smallest details. I highly recommend Mr. Allen!!!

Hiring Jacob Allen as my attorney for my recent divorce and child custody case was the best decision I could have made. He was prompt and encouraging every step of the way. He was always available and patient with me to explain the process and provide reassurance when needed. He is very knowledgeable and always ensured that I was aware of all of my options prior to making decisions. Going through a divorce is extremely stressful but it was wonderful to have such a strong and competent attorney in my corner. Should I require family law counsel in the future, Jacob Allen will be my first call. I would recommend him to any of my family or friends.

I was told he was the best in Spokane, in my opinion he and his associates are the worst. I paid him tens of thousands of dollars and received very little in the way of competent representation. I was promised that he would personally ensure my case would be a priority after one of his associates left the practice and a new one took over my case and I believed him. That was huge mistake on my part, I feel like he will tell you anything to get your money.

Cam was my divorce attorney in 2016. Cam over books herself and is worn out. Cam did not have time for me and would not call me back for several days. When she finally called back she was rushed and irritated.. She was unkind and condescending to me, just what you do not need while going through a stressful divorce. After 3 months of a horrible experience I had to drop her. When I sent her an email telling her this she immediately wrote the court and said she dropped me! She did nothing to make my case progress and she took $10k from me. She did not protect me and left me worse off than if I had never hired her. I feel it is my responsibility to let others know my experience.

It is beyond ridiculous how incredible this woman is. Dynamic, articulate, a fireball, knows my case inside and out, available when needed, passionate for my children, forthright with what is possible and what would be a stretch to ask for, all in all she has helped me find my spine again after years of being torn down by my ex. She reminds me what my kids deserve and my right to fight for them and they're overall wellbeing. Would hire her again in a heartbeat and trust her abilities even if it was a murder charge. What a lady!!!!!

Cam’s strength, compassion, knowledge, and persistence were unbelievable. Time and time again, whether it was in the courtroom, on the phone, corresponding on email, or in a room face to face; she took control, and always made it happen. Highly ethical, her interpersonal skills and legal expertise combined with her no nonsense approach is a formula for success. And, her assistant Deb is phenomenal. The team, is one to watch! I am, and will always be forever grateful to Cam and Deb. Their patience, respect, and positive perspective, as I struggled to get back on my feet in a very complex case, was truely a life saver. The complications of divorce, restraining orders, bankruptcy, and foreclosure were handled with the utmost professionalism and collaboration. Cam is simply the very best. Excellence defined!

Joe Sicilia reviewed our research foundation contract and he immediately spotted areas that would compromise our objectives. Joe's extensive experience includes billion dollar government contracts, and that wisdom came into play as he performed a successful 180 revision of our grant contract and secured our foundation interests and intellectual ownership beyond expectation. His experience exceeds many, and Spokane is fortunate to house such experience. Thank you Joe Sicilia.

I would truly recommend Keith Douglass and Associates to handle any legal issues that fall within their realm of expertise. I have worked with Keith and Adele for almost 4 years on a very complex legal case. Their continued support and attention to detail has resulted in a very satisfying outcome for me and my family. They always made me feel that my case was of the utmost importance and I believe I received the largest settlement possible because of their excellent efforts. Both Keith and Adele have the ability to explain how the complex legal system worked to me, and helped me to get through a very difficult time in my life.

Keith was great to work with as were his staff. After our initial consultation about my accident, I was given a clear explanation of Keith's strategy to get me compensation for my injury. He and his staff did a great job of working the strategy and keeping me informed of how my case was progressing. At the end of the process, I got a sizable check. What really set Keith & his staff apart from other attorneys, in my opinion, was their ability to see me as a person and not just another case. Keith is a real person and treated me like a real person. It was really nice to talk to a lawyer and feel respected, understood, and appreciated! Keith is a great guy & he has a warm, understanding, helpful, and responsive staff. I would totally recommend Keith & his entire firm to anyone who has been seriously wronged and needs legal help to ensure that justice is served.

Top Questions to Ask a Lawyer

When meeting with a lawyer for the first time, it's important to ask the right questions to understand their expertise and determine if they're the right fit for your legal needs. Here are some top questions to consider:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. What potential outcomes can I expect from my case?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  4. What is your approach to handling cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. Who will be working on my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.
  7. What is the likely timeline for resolving my case?
Get an estimate of how long the process may take from start to finish.

Testimonials or references can provide insight into the lawyer's professionalism and effectiveness.

  10. Are there alternative ways to solve my legal problem?
Discuss options like mediation, arbitration, or settlement to resolve the issue efficiently.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
