Sharon has competence, insight, and experience that made her an invaluable asset to us in our efforts to adopt our foster daughter. She knows child welfare laws in our state thoroughly and was able to point out the discrepancies within the actions of those who were opposing the adoption proceedings. She also has the respect of the court - which goes a very long way. In fact, today, as I am writing this review, she will be getting ready to attend the adoption of our friends' daughter as well!

My old attorney was not helping me Priscilla vagga was the worst. She always filed a continuous all the time. The last straw was when she was helping my ex husband with what he needed to file against me. I FIRED her and went and talked to Robin Andrews and it was the best desision I ever made. She is like a lion and fights for you. You have to be 120% honest with her, which I was and my ex husband lied to his attorney and Robin would always call him out with proof making my ex look stupid and his attorney embarrassed. Robin helped me move out of state with my kids (which is not easy there was a chance i would be denied but my ex attorney was not prepared) I was granted my relocation. Now we are all happy and I still have Robin as my attorney so she can go to court on my behalf because the custody battle is still open in WA. I live in Texas now and my ex cries about every little thing and we have to have our attorneys be the medium. She does her own work and when ever you have concerns she will get back to you and explain everything you have questions about. Shes been my attorney going on 2 years and I couldn't be more happy about it.

Harvest Timber a selective logging Co. was audited by the IRS, & not like we assumed; they can audit you back 3 years. Their law is they can audit you back 3 years, from any date they choose, in the time frame you have been in business, in our case was 1981-1983.This was all the agent took our check book ledger, then recorded every check with a first & last name, not a business name ,, as a employee. Long story made short according to the IRS we owed 325K w/out penalties. We had to prove every employee, & sub-contractor pd their taxes, which they already had that documentation, but stated they do not have to release the information to we the defendants. There were many names we were note able to locate to get their Income tax return forms, for it was 30 yrs ago. Those people we had no proof on but new the paid their taxes because they cashed their return checks at the bar we also owned, but IRS wanted us to pay their taxes again. Well they got fooled, Bob raked them over the coal, & always said, don't be scared let them know you know your rights, & their history as a illegal co. operating out of Cuba, so it is hard to sue a foreign CO. or Agent. (That work w/ the phony Central Bank (also Illegal) & the Rothschild's. we ended up owing 10K, less than it cost the IRS in attorney fees. Thank You so much Bob, You are not only a great Attorney, your a good friend. I recommend higher than any attorney we ever had.

I had criminal charges for domestic violence filed against me. I was taken to jail. A relative contacted Pete for representation. He was at my the first court appearance in jail. He had already got the proscecutor to not pursue charges. At court we were informed that they were pressing charges. Pete had me evaluated at a local clinic and with more effort had the charges dismissed.

I strongly recommend Mic to any client needing skilled and effective litigation counsel. I have been both co-defense counsel and opposing counsel with Mic. I much prefer the former position, knowing that Mic will provide strong representation for his client, that will eventually benefit my client. Mic understands how to present a consise and targeted case, a very valuable litigation skill.

He was very cool and had a nice suit and tie, with matching designer shades: very stunning. He saved me from embarrassment and demonstrated what he needed to demonstrate with his very appropriate, and effective body language. He doesn't say much, but when he does, it is so. He told the lady judge that I wasn't a hardened criminal... which is what saved me from becoming one...

Ms. Myers was referred to us by a family friend who employed her services for their family law needs. Unfortunately, by the time we contacted Ms. Myers, she was transitioning her area of focus and was unable to take our case. However, she took the time, at no charge, to answer our questions and help us better understand our needs. Ms. Myers is knowledgeable, professional, and passionate about helping others. I endorse this lawyer.

Every time we have sought consultation from Casey Bruner he has been honest and open with us on appropriate action to pursue or not pursue (regardless of his financial gain). Casey has show integrity, character, and careful consideration each and every time we have sought consultation. Corey Quinn is a very conscientious and focused attorney. From the start he was quickly able to grasp the situation from our perspective. He then made adjustments to the previously filed lien in order to secure our position more readily. He stayed on top of each detail, he prepared a settlement letter to the other party, that cleared things up, preparing the way for mediation. He make sure that we had time for resolution, and gently lead the way with conviction and assurance. We did not get all of what we would have liked to have, but he made a way to get an acceptable solution done. I felt he was very conscious of our need to not lose any more dollars, and was very conservative with his use of time, never forgetting to check in on progress, and follow up with advice. He was pleasant and kind to all parties, and made sure it didn't blow out of control into litigation due to tempers and upset. However, if it needed to go there, he assured me that we had no problem with proceeding. He had done his job securing our interest. I have had many attorney's over the years and Corey Quinn, stands alone as the most excellent, and detailed. He was specific when required, never lied, never fudged. He was always straight forward, sharing the risks and not making promises, that couldn't be kept. I would advise any business or person to fully trust his judgment. He does his home-work carefully, and strategizes without a problem, promoting the opportunity to change gears as required. He was not afraid to stop and confer with someone else, when needed, therefore, he did not come off as a know it all. Not a lawyer to be underestimated. He seems content to help you come up with a resolution you can live with, and he watches your money. I would never hesitate to trust his judgment, and I am grateful he took my case, he is an asset to his firm as he makes them look very professional. I highly recommend him, and anyone he would recommend gets a first look from me.

Top Questions to Ask a Lawyer

When meeting with a lawyer for the first time, it's important to ask the right questions to understand their expertise and determine if they're the right fit for your legal needs. Here are some top questions to consider:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. What potential outcomes can I expect from my case?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  4. What is your approach to handling cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. Who will be working on my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.
  7. What is the likely timeline for resolving my case?
Get an estimate of how long the process may take from start to finish.
  8. Do you have references from past clients?
Testimonials or references can provide insight into the lawyer's professionalism and effectiveness.
  9. What are the strengths and weaknesses of my case?
Understanding potential challenges helps you prepare and sets realistic expectations.
  10. Are there alternative ways to solve my legal problem?
Discuss options like mediation, arbitration, or settlement to resolve the issue efficiently.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
