Hired him and provided all the documents he asked from us. I even had a checklist for all the documents I gave them. We missed our deadline and had to wait another year to have my mom get her much needed visa. My mom needed surgery to repair valves in her heart. Very disappointed with his promised good service and result. I would stay away from him and his mom's law firm. They don't even return my calls or emails to them.

I fell into a legal matter regarding my dog and wasn’t really sure what my rights were. Keith listened to me and really made sure I understood my situation and saved me literally thousands of dollars. I honestly don’t know what I would have done without him. The best law firm I have ever encountered. I was referred to the firm via a very good friend. From the inception of my case they were professional, responsive and were an excellent representation for my case. I would and have since recommended any and everyone for legal services to this Wonderful firm. Thanks Curan and Ahmed’s for all your help. I’m most appreciative for all your assistance.

I researched quite a few firms before deciding on Denlea & Carton, and I couldn’t be happier that I did. They surpassed my expectations in every respect. They were kind, patient, and extremely knowledgeable. They treated my case as if it was their own, and never backed down from the fight with the defendant until they obtained an incredible result for me. There is a difference between law firms, and I’m glad I took the time to realize it. I would recommend Jim and Jeff (and everyone else who helped me) without hesitation. They’re terrific!

Putting my trust in Injured941 when it came to my legal matter was the best decision I could have made. Not only did Jeff and John make me feel like I was in the right hands, but they went above and beyond to get me the settlement I deserved. They are highly experienced, responsive, knowledgeable, honest and trustworthy, and they made sure they always kept my best interest and unique needs at the forefront. I highly recommend them to anyone seeking legal representation that is looking for a fair and honest experience and settlement. Should the situation ever arise again, Injured941 is the only law firm I would seek representation from.

Does not care about anything other than billing outrageous fees, and doesn’t worry whether his client winds up paying them or his oppositions client. Makes no attempt at settling. Prefers not to settle, just bill, bill, bill. Lies blatantly. Bad human being. Destroyer of family, zero conscience, an animal. He should be disbarred. Fights with other attorneys, his own clients. On his 3rd firm within 2022-2023.

The guy with that sodomy post, is full of himself. Viviano should me disbarred. He and the legal aide society, told me that they dont help me with my own defense, that they were there just to explain anything I didn't understand about the law. (I asked about my rights...they REPEATEDLY said..."lets see what the DA's is offering..[next week] I can say a lot but, stay away from this guy and DEFINATELY stay away from the legal aide society....as far as "lets make a deal" viviano.....Keep watching the news, I am getting close :)

Mr. Viviano seemed to only be interested and concerned with the more high profile cases. He made me wait 15 minutes outside of court while talking to one client and I had to beg him to give me more than 2 minutes. He did not correctly explain court procedures to me resulting in the loss of my job and extended court visits. I was very dissatisfied with the service. I could have defended myself just as well, or better, on my own....

We had a very difficult experience working with Attorney Kelly. Although she was not our lawyer - she represented the sellers and we were buying the house - her behavior and practices were so egregious that in addition to all the stress she jeopardized the transaction and I feel compelled to warn others against using her. Based on my conversations with the sellers, Attorney Kelly did not keep them informed or provide them with accurate information, including blaming delays on our attorney that were in fact caused by her.

If you have children and are in the courtroom with Hon. Fiore, I feel sorry for you. If you are a man and are fighting for your rights to see your children, you are in for an uphill battle. Hon. Fiore will not hear both sides of the story because she is bias against men. She will take the words of your Ex-wife over yours without any factual evidence. The biggest thing in her court room is the process because there is none you will continue to go back to court every month without resolving anything. At each court hearing Hon. Fiore will also forget what she has told you the last court hearing as if you are just a number and take no accountability for her responsibility to solve and resolve your issues you are seeing her for. Weeks, Months and years will pass without any resolution while your life and your children's life are in limbo. Hon. Fiore, I read the reviews before writing mine I am not the only person who feels this way about your services you are supposed to be provide for the people.

The Hon. Keri A. Fiore is knowledgeable and highly qualified in her career as a lawyer and currently a matrimonial judge. She is highly involved in community interaction and a strong advocate of children in divorce proceedings. Additionally, she participates in educating our youth about our Constitution and the law, likely inspiring some to pursue careers in law . It seems to me the negative reviews here are posted by individuals who are unhappy with their divorce outcomes and have found a way to anonymously hide while attempting a smear campaign. When two parties in a divorce cannot make fair agreements then they must abide by the decisions of their judge, period. Letting go of the anger you hold inside and moving on is the recommendation for living post-divorce. Being stuck in the past gets you nowhere in the future.

I would not recommend this attorney. His behavior & the quality of his representation was inconsistent. At times, he was pleasant & worked competently. Unfortunately, he could also be so rude that it was difficult & unpleasant to deal with him. He didn't keep his promises & dropped the ball on some issues (more than once), & this made it difficult to trust him. His fees were high and not worth the attention my case received. In the end, I felt that he had never really understood my case, and that he didn't care about its outcome.

I had the displeasure of “consulting” with this lawyer due to a family court case. Her decision to award my ex-husband custody of our daughter has torn my family apart. My ex brainwashed our daughter to move in with him, which prompted a breakdown in the relationship that I had with my daughter. Furthermore, it had a profound effect on the dynamics in my family, which also negatively affected our son. Although she is a court-appointed “guardian”, professionally, she should consider the consequences of her actions. In my case, it tore my family apart. She should be ashamed of herself. I would give her a 0 star rating, but unfortunately that’s not an option.

From the start of my case this lawyer was empathetic to the plaintiff. Did not fight to win the case and eventually allowed the Insurance company to settle even though there was ample evidence to counter claim the plaintiff. A first year lawyer could have won this case. He did not. Worst defense lawyer in NY As far as I am concerned.

I saved Ben for last. I gave him 22 pictures of an undamaged apartment door as evidence before my pretrial date. I had five court appearances. I kept asking him to show the Judge my evidence. Never got a straight answer. When Ben told me that my Judge, Walter Rivera got it wrong I decided to fire Ben. The Judge never knew about the picture evidence. A month before, I had contacted another lawyer to ask why Ben would not want to end this court case. I was told Ben was probably holding out for the actual trial where Ben would receive a percentage of what the court would award me for a framing, false arrest, false imprisonment, denying me legal counsel and committing perjury against me by the Greenburgh NY Police. When I attempted to get my evidence back, Ben took the pictures hostage. Ben would not give them back unless I told him if he would be my lawyer going forward. My new professional lawyer told him to FedEx the evidence to him. Instead, Ben wanted to handdeliver the evidence to him. My new lawyer never consulted with me about this exchange method. I have since found out that Ben had some not so nice things to say about me to my new lawyer. I noticed a change in his behavior towards me. Never found out what Ben told him, but the tension was so there I had to settle the case without any vindication or payment of my $12,488 in legal fees. I would say this classifies Ben as an “Ambulance Chasing Buffoon”.

I used him for a Workers Compensation case. His office missed deadlines and we only won due to the other side's doctor not being available for testimony. When my condition worsened we tried to reopen the case. He never really got behind it. When the judge stated that since the doctor said I required surgery when the case was first closed and that now I require surgery, there has been no change in condition so case can't be reopened. The problem with this is that the doctor never said I required surgery when the case was first closed. Within two weeks of receiving this letter I asked for them to appeal the decision. They never did! Two years later I was able to get another judge to look at the case. The summation letter written by the other side was full of false statements and made up testimony that did not exist. Wachtell's response to the letter was silence. DO NOT USE THIS FIRM UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!!!

Lawyer called to meet me at my house, or in the neighborhood or at the bank to further our civil case against a local health professional. I insisted over and over I would only meet in a law office. Lawyer would not call but then would call on Sundays unexpectedly and intrusively. Because I child was involved, I asked that our case move forward efficiently so that he would not have it hanging over his head. Promises to end settlement by Christmas came and went. Summer came. Finally after I contacted court for info about how to see case through on my own, things moved forward to a conclusion that was mediocre but better than prolonging agony.

Dear Ellen and Neil, I am now over 3 years into a finalized divorce, one that you both (two partners of supposedly a top Westchester law firm) negotiated. So you are aware, I've been back to court over 8 times over 3 years (for both family court and with the Support Magistrate) because of a negligently-constructed Stipulation of Settlement due to your professional and moral incompetencies. Each time I've been back, I've represented myself and come out with the favor of the Judge and Support Magistrate. The Judge has stated that the Stipulation of Settlement you both were responsible for was a poorly negotiated document full of flaws and not in the best interest of our children; in fact, it is on record that she would have never allowed mid-week visitation for my school-aged children from the start, as she believed it to be detrimental to their stability and development (although you warned me that a Judge would have forced me to allow it if I went to trial, despite you being aware of the physically and emotionally abusive patterns that my ex demonstrated). I have faced off against Westchester lawyers that have represented my ex, based upon conditions and requirements that I initially asked you both to negotiate on my behalf - at the cost of $120,000 (transparently without assets to match that)...without ever going to trial. Please note that I have won all of these decisions without legal representation, while against legal representation. This confirms to me that your negotiating skills and legal rates are deficient and obscenely bloated compared to what you actually deserve for your professional (or lack thereof) services. Throughout these past few years, I've made sure that if someone had asked for my advice or recommendation for a divorce attorney in Westchester, I've been forthright about my experience with your firm. It is detrimental to your profession that your firm continues to practice dishonest law, without the best interest of your client (and their children) at the forefront of your business. I would have been more successful on my own, and at trial, from the start - which is disturbing, considering you both have law degrees and have practiced in this field for decades. Yet, despite the additional and inexcusable emotional and financial setbacks you have caused both me and my children, I have thrived. I am a wonderful mom, who consistently puts her children first while facing relentless vexatious and abusive litigation. I have sought therapy for both myself and my children, due in part to the recklessness of your services. I am proud of myself at the end of every day for obtaining my Masters and teaching high school English in a top Westchester school district. In my profession, I make a positive, lasting impact on the lives of others, daily - money will never interfere with my wanting to do the right thing for my students, always. I'm sorry to say that (at least in this instance...and if it's happened to me, it's likely happened to several other clients of your firm) you cannot say the same. Sincerely, Xxx

Would rate him a zero if that were an option here. I retained Tangredi for a med mal case. He took nearly a year to commit to the action and start the lawsuit although he had me sign a retainer the day we met. He spent no money on the case. Did not order medical records other than what I gave him, and did not hire an expert, instead using his commuting buddy for the prerequisite medical affidavit. The defendant doctor brought to a motion to dismiss & Tangredi failed to meet the basics to defend it. My case was thrown out, and I was too weak physically to do anything about it.

Top Questions to Ask a Lawyer

When meeting with a lawyer for the first time, it's important to ask the right questions to understand their expertise and determine if they're the right fit for your legal needs. Here are some top questions to consider:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. What potential outcomes can I expect from my case?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  4. What is your approach to handling cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. Who will be working on my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.
  7. What is the likely timeline for resolving my case?
Get an estimate of how long the process may take from start to finish.
  8. Do you have references from past clients?
Testimonials or references can provide insight into the lawyer's professionalism and effectiveness.
  9. What are the strengths and weaknesses of my case?
Understanding potential challenges helps you prepare and sets realistic expectations.
  10. Are there alternative ways to solve my legal problem?
Discuss options like mediation, arbitration, or settlement to resolve the issue efficiently.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
