My divorce was fairly straightforward, we were not fighting over anything and Robert guided me with information I needed in order to make the best decisions for my children and myself. When I set up my appointment to meet with him, he suggested I make notes so that I stay on track and get the most out of our meeting and I never felt rushed and he was fully participatory in our meeting, this wasn't 'just another meeting'. His knowledge of family law, of what options I had and what my rights are felt almost tailormade for me. I will forever be grateful to him for his kindness and compassion while also being a versed attorney and was able to make suggestions that actually saved me money and assisted in me obtaining my divorce. I currently teach a faith-based divorce program at my church and when someone asks for attorney suggestions, I confidently recommend him.

At the start of the pandemic, my business was forced to close and my mother was simultaneously diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease which left me no choice but to file for bankruptcy. My accountant referred Stella stating she had a very calming demeanor and he was confident she would be a positive spirit to help me through the difficult times I was going through. From the first phone call, I was CRAZY ABOUT HER!!!
Stella worked diligently on my case; she left no stone unturned and in my personal opinion (I've never filed bankruptcy before) she went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure I was treated fairly. She took the stress away due to calls from creditors by absorbing all negative communication on my behalf; accepted documents at all times of the night or day and was there for me during a couple of tearful days when I just felt overwhelmed dealing with the bankruptcy, business failure, and my mom's medical diagnosis.
One significant thing I want to mention - there was a lien on my property and out of nowhere, Stella remembered and filed a motion to make sure it was addressed before the charge off which saved me from possibly paying a company nearly 30K!!! I still don't know how she remembered such an isolated detail but thank God She Did!!!
When my bankruptcy was charged off, I was actually sad because that meant I wasn't going to hear from Stella again....but I still email her monthly just to stay in touch because at the end of the day, she gave me a fresh financial start and I owe my new clean financial status to her!

Stella is AMAZING! She very successfully completed a Chapter 13 Filing for me recently and I HIGHLY recommend her for anyone considering Bankruptcy 7 or 13. She is always very responsive and on top of everything. The bankruptcy process can be complicated and confusing and she always makes sure to explain everything in great detail so you are able to follow the process. From the initial call to the decision in court, Ben was trustworthy and a pleasure to work with. Out of the six lawyers I spoke with, Ben was the only one that believed in my case against the DMV. His communication always comes from a place of compassion and understanding. Needless to say he WON our writ against the DMV when everyone else said I didn't have a chance.
We won our initial writ and the DMV decided to appeal to a higher court. Needless to say, Ben took on the new case and was equally communicative and helpful. Ben always made the time to talk and provide updates. I never had to speak with anyone other than Ben himself where he was continually demonstrate full understanding and interest in my case. We won again, and again I owe it to the amazing representation I had with Ben.

I was involved (starting in 2004) in a probate case with another lawyer.
I spent the next 5 years trying to get him to be a lawyer. He was very incompetent and the experience was horrible.
I needed someone to help me out of the mess the other lawyer created.
And it was a mess and complicated by this time.
I found Eric Gordon by a referral, and from that day my entire case began to look like something that We could resolve.
Eric shared with me all the unethical actions of the other lawyer.
Once he took on my case it all came together in MY favor.
Eric walked with me through the legal system steps and all that he needed to do so that I always knew what was going on. Huge for me since the other lawyer was impossible to get return calls and emails from.
Besides his total professionalism, Eric was available to me on every level. I felt watched out for and cared about as a real human being.
He goes the extra mile to do what is necessary . A rare trait these days.
Not only is the whole case finally behind me, I was also, with Erics

I was looking everywhere for a lawyer to handle my case to evict a tenant. Luckily, I found Sep! I drove 2 hours to meet him to consult my case, and it was well worth my time. We won the eviction and was able to get my property back all in one piece. That’s not all, he went above and beyond to help me claim money back from the insurance to cover the costs and repairs. I was just looking at my peer reviews on Avvo and thought I have to do one for Sep. I'm an attorney and Sep is actually my attorney. He first contacted me to be an expert witness on a foreclosure matter and after many conversations with him I hired him to represent me on a case. So far, he's represented me on two matters, and while litigation is not pleasant for the participants (not sure if it's worse or better when you yourself are an attorney) it was always a relief knowing Sep was my attorney. When people hire me and leave my office saying they feel a weight lifted from their shoulders that is the highest compliment.
That is what I can say about Sep; that is exactly how I feel when I retain him. When he is handling your matter, your mind can be at peace as long as you do what he asks and trust him.

Dana Urick was my divorce attorney for six years. I know that this is an unusually long time, but that is what happens with a complicated divorce. Dana was wonderful to work with. She was caring, smart, dedicated, and honest. She was also very articulate and driven to get a divorce agreement that would suit my children and me. At the time of my separation, I was a stay at home mom and had stopped working for seven years. Dana encouraged me to go back to school and get a master's degree, which I am grateful for. Dana is very approachable and easy to talk with, yet she is fierce in the court room. She was actually the second lawyer that I hired to work on my case, after the first lawyer cost me a lot of money and did not help much. My mom wanted a will and trust created for her but she didn't know where to get started as far as finding an attorney to do the work. I'm a do-it-yourself kind of son, but for this I knew that wouldn't be wise because I didn't have any experience in such matters and I've learned the hard way about the hazards when overlooking details. KC's firm was offered up as a good place to give a first try. Well, I didn't need to go any further! Wow, KC is a great attorney and what a great team. I retained Shannon to help me finalize a divorce and had a great experience working with her. Her advice was easy to understand and thoughtful. She was always prompt to respond to emails and I would certainly recommend her to others.

I googled pro-Bono attorneys, since I’m a full time single mom right now and up against a wealthy abusive ex. Even though it turned out Navid doesn’t work pro bono, he still generously and patiently answered all of my questions. He calmed me down and even though he had a trial the next day he generously gave me an hour of his time, which I’m very grateful for! He is professional and knowledgeable. But most importantly compassionate and caring. Though we all need to make a living he isn’t driven by $$$ only, but rather by being of help to parents in difficult situations.

I had a horrible situation where the apartment manager of my complex used his financial means to coerce someone into committing perjury and submitting a false declaration against me to get a restraining order to kick me out of my building. The apt. mgr had hired a federal prosecutor and was out to ruin my life, but Fadi and his team would not back down and we ended up settling outside of court. If you really want a direct, personal, and honest experience with a lawyer, Fadi Amer is the man to go to. I had complications with my insurance claim after I had gotten into a car accident. I ended up trying a few different attorneys before I ended up with Mr. Amer. From the very beginning, I was warmly welcomed to the firm (with lots of smiles and care), and was able to see Mr. Amer, not too long after my arrival. He had already looked into my case, and immediately started to go over it with me detail by detail, explaining everything along the way. In all honesty, what made him stand out was how upfront he was with the situation and at the same time I can really see that he is a caring person. Despite Mr. Amer's professionalism, he still made me feel very comfortable to the point where I felt as if I have known him for years. Also, what I really liked was the fact that he followed up with case almost immediately and constantly, making sure that all my questions were answered. Plus his first consultation is super cheap. I was involved in a very serious car accident which left me severly injured and left with a limp. I had hired Richard Spencer as an attorney for an accident case I had, which Richard had successfully litigated and won. Bob is absolutely one of the best Attorney's you will ever come across, he's an amazing attorney that actually cares about his clients, he's literally one of the best out there. Me and my wife had given our case to what you would refer to as a sleazebag attorney, the type of attorney that gives a bad name to all other attorneys, he literally stole our money, made us feel like s**t, and left us with no answers, so I had to find another attorney. Distraught and discouraged we found Bob on yelp, apprehensive at first to not have to go through anything like that again and hoping we find someone good, we called Bob. I hired Robert Adler, at the last minute, to represent me at trial against a collection agency. This agency sued me because I refused to pay for services that I did not want or ask for. Mr. Adler took charge at the Mandatory Settlement Conference (“MSC”). Because of Mr. Adler’s persuasive meditation skills, the deal he made with the collection agency was fair, and I am more than satisfied with the result. I was referred to The Law Collaborative (TLC) by a colleague. I grew even more interested in working with the firm when I learned its mission is to help clients pursue the most peaceful and cost-effective solutions for separation, divorce, and nullity matters. TLC promotes negotiation and mediation over expensive court battles. I support this approach to navigating the emotionally difficult seas of family law, and wanted to be able to rely upon the skills of the attorneys at TLC to help manage the hostility I expected to face as I made public the facts about my ex-husband. From the first time I met Ty Supancic I was impressed by his intelligence, honesty, kindness, and good-natured personality. After we discussed and evaluated my options, I chose to pursue a nullity. A divorce would have been an easier and cheaper route for me to take. However, divorces only allow one to state “irreconcilable differences” as the reasons for the death of the marriage. Since this was not an accurate depiction of the facts, I decided to file for a nullity. From the start I was advised that obtaining a nullity would be a challenge. A nullity enables one to outline the chronology of events and list the specific causes (and explain why one party is at fault) for the end of the marriage, and thus allows one to present a more comprehensive case to the court. However, judges still very rarely grant them. It was clear to me that we were facing an uphill battle. However, I felt confident that I was in good hands with Ty as my representative and advocate. I worked closely with him for months gathering and reviewing the evidence for inclusion in my case, and assisting with the development of the legal documents. Ty is an extremely gifted writer, so this actually made the process enjoyable for me. He was able to consistently and accurately reflect my perspectives in his prose. Ty was also highly responsive to me during all of our communications about the case. I would receive replies to my emails within minutes sometimes, and he always made time to take my telephone calls. He answered at length every question I ever posed, and even took the time to explain larger legal concepts to me. In addition, Ty went to extraordinary lengths to accommodate my schedule for the few times we needed to meet in person. He even spent five hours with me finalizing the court documents and organizing the evidence for the nullity the day before the law office needed to be packed and moved to a new location. He never once tried to rush me or act like he had anywhere else to be but there working on my case. I am pleased to say we obtained the nullity shortly after filing our legal documents in court! The partners in the law firm said it was the first time in their collective 60 plus years of practicing law that they had ever seen a nullity granted so swiftly and based on the strength of the legal documents alone. Customarily a “prove-up” hearing is required with witnesses called to provide testimony. Here is an excerpt from a thank you letter I wrote to Ty following our legal victory: “I am so overwhelmed with gratitude that words are not sufficient to show my appreciation for your work at this moment. So, I will simply say again that I have been tremendously blessed to have you represent me and advocate for me in this nullity. Ty, your unsurpassed intelligence, legal skills, work ethic, sense of humor, unwavering kindness, and cheerful personality truly brought out the best in me. I developed great confidence in your abilities, and this allowed me to focus on the sometimes emotionally difficult process. Equally important to me was feeling encouraged and supported by you every step of the way. Your positive outlook kept me from becoming undermined by doubt, or entertaining any fear that I was "wasting" time and money on my pursuit of what I knew were worthy goals. You worked tirelessly and patiently with me for months during this labor-intensive process." Ty is highly recommended.

I found Christopher Melcher's name while feverishly researching IRS codes etc., regarding alimony and mortgage contributions. My ex-husband was insisting that I claim not only my spousal support for the entire 2012 tax year as income (which I knew about and was prepared to do) but also his "mortgage contributions" as well.
My ex gave me 40% of the mortgage monthly for the "marital home" from January 2012 to October 2012. This was home, not only to myself, but to our children as well. Both my ex and I were on the deed and the mortgages. I never imagined that mortgage consideration would be taxable to me!
My own attorny was zero help on this. After 2 grueling years of being his annuity, I wasn't surprised that once again, he was unable to give me a definitive answer. That's why I set out on a mission to understand the divorce and IRS tax laws on my own, which quite frankly, is comparable to my becoming a physicist. But I persevered, and came across a terrific article on the topic by Mr. Melcher. I was so impressed with this article that I decided to contact him, even though we were in different states. I was hoping that since this was a federal tax income issue, he might still be able to help me regardless of where I lived.
I am not only happy that I reached out to Chris-- but I'm ecstatic! He responded immediately to my online inquiry and he asked me to email him all the various court orders. I emailed the files and he wrote back-- again on that same day---outlining his advice, answering all my questions concisely and thoroughly.
Thanks to Chris's keen perusal of my 3 court orders, he caught something that I would have never realized (and sadly neither would my own attorney). The one court order that was executed in June of 2012 had modified the September 2011 court order, and made it "retroactive" to September 2011. Chris explained that the IRS will not recognize that type of modification, retroactively. The June 2012 order was modifying the older order for child support, keeping the amount of money the same, but changing the breakdown from all child support to child, spousal and mortgage contribution. Chris explained that the IRS would only recognize the order that was in place at the time of the payments. So.....now this meant that EVERYTHING my ex paid me prior to June 2012--in the eyes of the IRS---would be considered ALL child support!
He also weighed in on the mortgage consideration issue, explaining that since my ex was also on the mortgage at the time of those payments, they were not spousal support, and that it would be a very difficult case for my ex to make. He confirmed my thinking that I should not take those payments as income, and suggested how I could give my ex his "fair portion" of the mortgage interest. This will now be a very small amount since, as Chris pointed out, according to the court documents, there was no mortgage contributions ordered until mId year! Can you say KARMA?!
Chris and I exchanged a couple of emails and we had one phone call (which by the way he made to me while on his family vacation!). Chris is obviously extremely sharp, extremely knowledgable, very kind and he was very generous with his time.
I was also very impressed that on all of Chris's emails, his cell phone is listed along with his other contact info! Very unusual, and I think that says a lot.
Moral of the story? Trust your instincts, be your own advocate, don't be bullied, do your homework, and call Chris Melcher.
If I had a "re-do"- I would live in CA and hire Chris to handle my whole divorce!
