Jacob Silver is an outstanding attorney! My partner was dealing with bad debt and went through a hard time with not being able to make ends meet. I found Mr. Silver on google and saw the amazing reviews and had my partner make an appointment ASAP. Within 2 months Mr. Silver did everything with paperwork, meetings, etc. for the bankruptcy as he felt necessary and let me add that he is always responsive and available for questions when his clients need him because my partner would email at some random times and always received a response! From the initial consultation Todd made me feel calm and that he was there for me. He knew just how to keep things light and when to crack a small joke to keep me in good spirits. He lead me through the process step by step and made sure I felt supported. He kept things level headed when they could easily have escalated. I called Sarah Gold's law firm to ask about forming a LLC in New York. I did some research prior to my call but was confused as heck and was not confident in dealing with the state. Ms. Gold walked me through the process, answered my questions, and told me her fee. I thought the fee was competitive, keeping in mind it included state fees and public notice fees. We communicated online, she had to search to see if my LLC name was not prohibited or duplicative. I also asked for her to set up a DBA and she did that. It was so obvious that she new what she was doing, a true expert professional . She did all the filing, advertising and DBA in a day and I had what I legally needed hours later. she emailed me copies of the application filing, receipts and most important my official LLC. I would use Sarah Gold without any hesitation and I highly recommend you do too.

On August 27th at 2:00 PM EST, I called your office seeking legal advice and assistance. Unfortunately, I encountered an individual who displayed an unprofessional and discourteous attitude. When I initially explained my situation, she abruptly informed me that your office does not handle such matters and hung up without allowing me to ask any further questions.
I called back to inquire about the specific cases your office does handle, as I believe my civil rights have been violated. However, before I could fully articulate my question, she interrupted, stating, "I said we don’t handle this, and I said have a great day," and then hung up on me once again.
Frustrated by this lack of assistance, I called a third time to request to speak with a supervisor. On two separate occasions, she answered the phone only to immediately hang up. When she finally responded, she simply said, "Please stop calling."
I would like to bring this matter to the attention of her supervisor, as this behavior reflects a lack of customer service skills and professionalism. It is disheartening to encounter such a response, especially when reaching out for help in a difficult situation. Individuals who prioritize dismissing potential clients over offering assistance should not be in positions where they interact with the public. As a college student in need of legal help, I expected better treatment.
I hope this feedback is taken seriously and that appropriate steps are taken to ensure others do not experience the same level of disregard.

I was not referred to Lance. I live 90 minutes away from his office and needed an attorney on Long Island. I chose Lance based on a few positive reviews and a frantic need for representation.
A complex divorce has had me working with him for almost two years. Amid a hectic schedule that all good divorce attorneys navigate , moments when the emotions of it all make you feel snubbed by the world, and even your attorney, Lance has helped me to create a case against my ex-wife that will likely result in the win I’ve longed for. If it doesn’t, it will have been of no fault to Lance. Together we crafted a motion that dissected my ex-wife’s false claims and lies. Over a year later, 8 adjournments and a continued emotional roller coaster I was able to see Lance on trial. His performance was no less than brilliant in every way possible. While my case is ongoing, his strategy made a fool of opposing counsel, and his intellect, instinct and confidence in front of the judge completely demolished the false narrative that was presented to the court by my ex. As a loving father this moment to fight back felt like life or death for me. While I feel like I’ve already won bases on egregious actions of my ex, and the truth, I’m realistic a court may not see what I saw. The best way to work with Lance is to ask what he needs from you, and how that information needs to be disseminated to him. Your efforts will make the difference. Throughout this wild ride, Lance will be fast to return text and emails, and slow at time. This is common for every attorney brave enough to take on the insanity of divorce. Your time will come when you feel completed loved by Lance. Be patient. Your opinions will be heard. You’ll like be put in your place a few times, but tensions are high in battle. True Leaders keep the novices in line. You’ll need thick skin everywhere you turn while in a divorce battle.
Beyond legal, and after significant time spent with Lance, at his office and even at his home, I also leaned he is a very good father and loving husband. His humanity has mattered to me. It should to you.

I never considered writing a negative review until my experience with Van Horn & Friedman, P.C. (“VH&F”). However, I feel compelled to share my story. I retained Alissa to file a petition (for privacy reasons I will not disclose the type) and to represent me throughout the associated court proceedings. Immediately upon learning of the situation, Alissa could not understand why a petition had not previously been filed. When I explained to her that I was told by the local police department that the person was too old, she said that the police do not know the law—she does. Regrettably, I retained her services.
To my dismay, I soon learned that the local police department knew what they were talking about; Alissa did not. I believe that VH&F eventually found out shortly after Alissa was unable to file the petition. However, the only response I received when inquiring about the situation was “red tape” and “you have a judge that cares.” Not acceptable explanations coming from a firm you are paying $500.00 an hour to represent you, especially considering that the judge does not have the authority to circumvent the system. I asked at least three (3) times and always received the same responses. Laughably, I was asked by a managing partner at VH&F if I was an attorney. I am not, I just don’t enjoy being taken advantage of.
I believe that VH&F’s hourly rate is way overpriced. Moreover, their retainer agreement provides for billing in fifteen (15) minute increments. My bill ran up very quickly because of sending/receiving correspondence. The problem is that Alissa was recommending services I had already tried unsuccessfully and were not related to the petition. As such, I found myself paying VH&F to explain to them that their recommendations were not appropriate for my situation after previously providing that history to her.
My takeaway: Don’t expect to receive a good product just because a business charges more than their competitors and be wary of someone’s overconfidence!

Several years ago I suffered an unfortunate accident while traversing the streets of NYC. The incident resulted in severe injuries that landed me in a hospital emergency room in excruciating pain and in a cast for several months thereafter, and a plethora of doctors appointments and follow up visits. I can’t say Thank You enough to this law firm and Eric Winnert! We live approximately 5 hours from the office and Eric came to our home to get the much needed paperwork signed by my very ill spouse for a mesothelioma law suit. Poor man had to drive through the snow belt in February just to make sure we got what was needed before anything happened. Not sure why, but right from the start Beth seem annoyed and unwilling to listen to the specifics of
my divorce. She suggested that I move out because abandonment doesn’t exist anymore and that I should start preparing for a huge child support payment that is inevitable and mandatory, and that my prenuptial agreement was worthless and unenforceable after 6 years of marriage. She told me that regardless of the circumstances my ex-wife will get custody and to prepare myself for that. She certainly didn’t feel like she was helping me, more like she was trying to do a little as possible to get through the case, or even make it easier for my ex to get the judgements she wants. 3 other lawyers told me very different things in their consultations. I hired a different lawyer.

I have been with Sawer & Sackel for 3 separate workers comp claims and have been very unsatisfied until recently. Up until Holly took ownership in my cases I was left wondering what was going on. I was the one that had to initiate any and all inquiries into correspondences from the insurance carrier. And I rarely spoke with a lawyer and it was Never the same individual. Since working with Holly things have change my thinking entirely. My experience here was horrible willing to take your money but don’t put in no work I had Brian first for my first court date then he got drop from me and I got Catherine the worst ever she showed no care for what I was going through due to the fact of me trying to get my son back home in Connecticut. It’s like she was working against me with the other party. I would email her and she takes for ever to respond I won’t get a respond until the next day if so. Then she try to tell me oh I should be glad dad didn’t put me on child support for my son because dad have temporary residential custody mean while dad is on child support and never paid a dollar since be been on child support now tell me how that make sense?. The front desk lady got upset with me when I wanted to change her and get somebody else who would actually care about my situation asking why I wanna change Cathrine as if they doing me a free job like I’m not paying these people my hard working money. Cathrine should no compassion to how I feel as a mother about my situation regarding my child. would I recommend anybody to this law firm HELL NOOOOOO!

Updated review. I cannot stress to anybody reading this enough: who you hire matters and you get what you pay for. Attorney’s have case after case slide across their desk. It’s a job at the end of the day to most. If Aaron Shapiro or the force that is Amanda Schaffer takes your case, TRUST THEM. Full disclosure: I am a nightmare client. On a scale from 1-10, I’m an 11 in terms of annoying. My son is my absolute world. I have been a “white pony” more times than you can imagine. Over-billed. None of it made sense. Those attorneys cared about a paycheck. Aaron and Amanda are not only EXCELLENT attorneys, they’re good people. They have a backbone. Their time is valuable. They’re not cheap. Know that. When your child, freedom, or immigration status is on the line — don’t put it in the hands of someone who treats you like a file.
