I was amazed they were able to schedule a consultation by the next day! I was paired with attorney Robert Sakovich. We were quite disappointed in our interactions with Liz Vaysman. We contracted her for a consultation phone call, which was a limited engagement, of which we were entirely aware of. In our experience, if you hire Liz, be prepared for defensiveness, an inability to listen, and a combative atmosphere from the outset.
However, Liz spent way too much time on the call itself explaining over and over how limited our engagement was. We stopped the whole conversation to make a clear point that we were NOT interested in taking advantage of her in any way, and we clearly understood the engagement.
This was apparently not heard, and she continued to make this point over and over while we tried to salvage the conversation and get clear legal guidance for our money.
We wanted to record the session, so none of the important information we received would be forgotten by us, considering we are very busy and not lawyers. But Liz didn’t allow that. We were fine her reasoning, and we all agreed she would follow up our call with an email listing the advice and the relevant links to details.
Liz then proceeded to ghost us entirely, and it took multiple emails and phone calls and a threat to leave a negative review before we heard back from her. At that point, 4 months had elapsed.
We finally received our follow up email, with a curt apology and a repeat of her admonishment that we had not paid for any more services, and that our engagement was completed.
In our experience, if you hire Liz, be prepared for defensiveness, an inability to listen, and a combative atmosphere from the outset.

They’ll give you a roundabout price, expect to pay about 5 times that amount. They’ll charge you $56 to read a 6 word email. Apparently it takes them 12 minutes to read it. Charged me about $4300 for one court appearance that took about an hour when that was supposed to be for my entire divorce proceedings. Use someone else is my advice.

She literally charged me 2,000$ and didn’t do the one thing I asked her to do which was to get text messages that says that I threatened somebody. She literally took the easiest way out possible! She has zero litigation skills at all!!! I will now hire a new lawyer and keep you guys posted on the out come. This lady once again is a terrible lawyer!!

Pamela Purdy and her staff are incredible. My divorce has been handled with compassion, empathy, and a large dose of reality. He’s not the kinda of attorney that will make false promises for you to hire him. He’s very honest and up front. He also focuses on the big picture and how a judge will see things. He’s very knowledgeable on the laws. All around he’s a good attorney. We have kept him on retainer for two years now for child custody purposes and he has yet to let us Down. He also gives sound legal advice and always gets back to us in a timely manner.

Could not be more disappointed in the effort. It’s one thing to get a raw deal from a very broken system. It’s another to feel like your attorney couldn’t care less.
You would think that before a conversation with your client, you would have done some prep and know the broad strokes of the case…. When you have tell your attorney how long your marriage was over and over again, it just sends an “I don’t care” message to your client. At least the first 3 times we spoke I had to tell her the length of marriage. Dealing with the issue of spousal support, where length of marriage is a key factor, you would think that you would not have to answer that question repeatedly. I know this to be true, because it stuck in my mind. I started having 2nd thoughts during each of the first couple conversations. Didn’t get the sense she cared one bit about the case.
We had a meeting scheduled several days prior to a court hearing. 1pm she was to call me. I sat around for hours. No call. Now she claims that she called and nobody answered. Well I have no missed call. I have no voicemail. I have no email. No communication whatsoever until 7:30am, on the day of the hearing, 5 days later. Zero effort made to contact me in the 5 days between the scheduled call and meeting.
After that January date until the next scheduled hearing, in April, we did not have a single conversation. I wasn’t even sure I was still being represented at that point. I had already become indifferent as to whether or not she would be at the next hearing. I get a call at 4:30pm the day prior. It’s not her paralegal. It’s not my attorney. It’s another attorney from the firm who I worked with on a different case. I had more contact with him during the hearing than I did with my attorney of record. Matter of fact, from January on, even past that April date, we didn’t have a single conversation where privilege would attach. Because we never communicated.
Just absolutely unbelievable… you can’t guarantee results, but you will never get results if you fail make any effort. I know opposing counsel is digging into my finances and anything he can get his hands on. I couldn’t even get my attorney to request a copy of my wife’s unemployment claim, even with an easy in to the claim as a personal friend of mine is a supervisor with PA Unemployment office and I just simply needed to have an official request. Sounds like “inadequate discovery” to me….

If you want to give thousands of your hard earned dollars to lawyers who will provide absolutely no service in exchange, this is the firm for you! Six months and the only attempt at any actual service was nullified by their inability to type an address correctly. If they deign to grace you with a reply to an email, it will only address the first sentence. If they actually answer their phone, you'll be treated to an empty promise of a call back.
You'd do better lighting your money on fire under the full moon than entrusting these scam artists.

I would not recommend this law firm. I signed papers in November 2019 for them to represent me. I understand this takes awhile the court system, but I called after the new year and left a message with the receptionist and never received a phone call back. I called again a couple of months later and even followed up with an email because there was an update with my case. I heard nothing back. I called again in July and still have not received a phone call. Today I get papers in the mail that they cannot go forward with my case even though I have a case, the courts even said I have a case. This law firm is very unprofessional that they cannot even call or email their client back. I will never recommend them to anyone, in fact I will tell people to seek another law firm. Do not waste your time on this law firm they are very unprofessional.

As I near $40k, and over a year and a half in divorce expenses, I could not imagine having a better lawyer and ally than Dave Schanbacher. In divorcing the daughter and sister, of two county judges (from the county in which we and our children live), Dave has brought a superior knowledge and accountability to a flawed system. His profound expertise has enabled him to sort out fact from fiction, and to beautifully navigate what is clearly an uphill battle, and an arduous process. While we still have much work to do, I can’t imagine having a better and more trustworthy attorney. My only regret, is that I didn’t hire Dave as my first attorney; instead opting for a local, and egregiously less talented local (Bellefonte) attorney.

Hired him for my divorce. Definitely laid it on thick when first met him. Provided him with detailed and organized information. Paid him considerably to review information and to be prepared. None of that happened. He was so disorganized and unprepared in court. I found times where I had to bring information to court that he already had, but wasn’t prepared with. He still fumbled through and couldn’t present case. Pretty embarrassing. I give you one example of many. We had to go in front of divorce master. Both parties had appraisals done. One item a four wheeler was appraised $1600.00 of any book value. I pointed this out to Dave way before meeting to submit for evidence. He said just bring to meeting. Needless to say divorce master wouldn’t except it because it wasn’t submitted for evidence. Thanks Dave you just cost me $1600.
This is just one of many mistakes. I really considered firing him, but at the time I couldn’t afford another retainer. Believe me I checked with other lawyers. When I told them what was going on, they just shook their heads.
I hope someone who reads this,learns from my mistake. Looks somewhere else. I will say this about Dave, he’s a shark when he’s trying to get more money from you. Too bad it doesn’t follow into court. Sad display for a lawyer claiming to have all this experience. Good luck.

I had an extremely disappointing experience with King Spry Herman Freund & Faul LLC. In my case, their level of incompetence in family law, particularly in divorce proceedings, was astonishing. Donald Spry drafted a painfully convoluted and confusing divorce proposal that smelled of purposeful intent to advance their billable hours. Despite being highly recommended by a reputable firm in the Lehigh Valley, their law firm has little regard for their clientele’s needs. Since I had come into money, they thought I would be a mini-cash cow for them. Granted, I have my MBA and have worked in contract management in the telecom industry for years; I certainly wasn’t going to be taken for a ride.
It came to a point where I had to challenge their overall strategy, as he was often unavailable, due to being tied up in court. I had asked Donald directly several times if he had the bandwidth as he wasn’t connected to my case in the least. Note, he NEVER once addressed any of my concerns including his lack of availability.
Upon being challenged and taking no accountability for his failures with my case, all he could do was do the cowardly thing and email me saying, “I think there has been a breakdown of our attorney/client relationship, and you need to move on with another lawyer.” He knew he was being called out and couldn’t man up and own his mistakes. Sadly, I’ll never trust a reference until I thoroughly vet the party.
It’s taken me a few years to address this, but others need to know what you're dealing with. The story ended with finding another attorney, who wrapped up the divorce for 85% less than what I had already paid out to Donald Spry and Co. And no, Spry didn't get me halfway there, though they like to think they did. The real work and negotiations needed a reboot, and luckily, it ended much better than it had started.

My letter to Joseph, still waiting on a repsonse from him:
Dear Joseph,
I wish to express my concerns about your last representation. In no way am I upset about the outcome of the recent custody conciliation. What I am very disappointed in is the total lack of guidance you had offered me when I had presented at your office in January. As a matter of fact, we never truly discussed the current situation in your office prior to the conciliation paperwork even being completed. I truly believe that had you took the time to go through my documents with me, and properly guided me as to the criteria for the request I was making, that we would have reached the same recommendation back in January that I am facing now.
I know that there are no guarantees in legal proceedings. I do expect proper guidance and representation a month before the fact when I present for it and not in a quick twenty minutes just before the custody conciliation is to take place and be left to defend myself. I view these circumstances as unprofessional conduct and expect more from such an honored attorney.
It is therefore I believe I should be entitled to reimbursement for some of the legal fees I have incurred. These proceedings could have been timed more effectively had you given this matter the attention it deserved for the fees I have submitted for your time and services.
.....In short, Joseph didn't have the time for the prior consult I scheduled with him and he just took my check and filed the papers without knowing a single fact. Once we did talk just twenty minutes before the conciliation (a month later), it was all so clear that Joseph initiated the action way to fast and just blew my time and money which was completely avoidable had he done things in the correct order. Why any lawyer would file a case before talking to his client is just beyond me????? I will be finding a new attorney..................
