I would highly recommend this lawyer for his dedication & exemplary work. In my personal experience, he took his time on my complex case to get the most results which made me feel he cared. Not many do that. I referred him to others, including family and for many different reasons, each case had its difficulty in its own ways but this lawyer managed to resolve them all miraculously! He knows his business and how to best prepare and handle which saved us all! Dr. Vazquez is always ready for the fight!

I had my initial visit with Mr. Wolfe, and I paid $100.00, which was a fee. On 4.14.23, I made another payment to Mr. Wolfe in the amount of $375.00. I was making installments toward my bankruptcy. I actually, called prior to that last payment to pay the bankruptcy in full. But, I never could get Mr. Wolfe on the phone. When, I did speak with him, I only made a payment, instead of the full amount. Well, Mr. Wolfe went ghost on me after, taking my money and not providing me with any service. I've tried to reach out to him numerous times and have stopped by and left a message , No Call, and NO REFUND.

We used Mr. Wolfe when going through a bankruptcy. He was very thorough in explaining our options to us, answered any questions we had and spent the time with us and made sure we understood the procedure. Always returned phone calls promtly himself. Always made us feel like our situation was important and never tried to usher us out of the office. Can't say enough how comforting it was to have someone we could trust helping us. If you are considering or going through bankruptcy - this is your man!

Do not use this lawyer. We contracted his services in February of 2022. He rarely returned calls or emails. When the time came to Zoom call with the magistrate he was totally unprepared such that the magistrate became so annoyed, he shut down the session. We paid Mr. Karle over $6000 for absolutely nothing. He did not disclose to us that he had a neurological disease that impaired his ability to represent.

The 1st thing I remember when meeting Philip was his Genuine interest in helping me with my father's estate. He is an extraordinary listener and Extremely knowledgeable In his field of expertise. He does not waste Your time And gets right to the point. Moreover his staff are very professional and responds to call and text in short order. You can tell a lot about a person by the people they have working with them. He takes a lot of time explaining the legal matter to the client

Mr. Philip does not return phone calls or emails, always have an excuse that he never received them. Presented himself as a knowledgeable contract dispute attorney, which he is not, suffers from lack of knowledge in business transactions and almost cost us to lose a lawsuit that he supposedly was representing us. Found out that he had previous complains with the Florida bar, he is refusing to give us back the whole file and also receipts for all the funds that he collected in the pass. Will never recommend him and his services to anyone due to the fact that they are extremely poor and unprofessional and that the complainant has been already filed against him and he was reprimanded by the Florida bar.

This review is actually about an attorney that practices from Mr Alexander's offices, Amber J Hines. Amber represented a bankruptcy case filed 04/2018. At the very best I could say Amber represented the case adequately. I mean she was present at the meetings, but did nothing to effect the outcome of the case, good or bad. Her over lack of professionalism and due diligence were severely lacking. After all, do you want someone representing you that does the bare minimum or would you rather someone represent your case with the attention to detail you deserve? There were several instances that illustrate my disappointment with how the case was handled, but I'll just list a couple. The case had only two items of value to be accounted for, both of which were listed in the only document provided to Amber, a dissolution of marriage. However there was a "checklist " Amber provided to list assets, unfortunately, being average citizens, we didn't realize in the middle of this checklist Amber provided was a simple yes or no that would cause a list of extra problems for our case. This was, in my opinion, something that our attorney should have found through her, self described, "diligent and effective representation". She did not, and when confronted about this, Amber's reply was "well I gave you the checklist to complete, you checked the wrong box". Thank you very much, please accept this $1500 for your representation. This caused there to be yet another meeting with the trustee and an amendment having to be completed, thus throwing up a red flag to the trustee to investigate further and cause yet another meeting to occur. How did he find this "hidden" asset (worth $500 at very most and sold 18months prior to filing) but Amber did not when she was "diligently and effectively" representing the case? Her response was simple, I don't usually read through divorces". Ummm....ok. Maybe you should start, they're kind of important. Especially when it is the ONLY document to review. Amber also likes to email correspondence at close of business on a Friday. This happened multiple times. Are you trying to NOT correspond?!? One of these correspondences causes a rushed trip to the DMV to try and provide some documentation to help support the case, again after 4pm on a Friday for something that HAD to happen THAT day. Again, thanks for the heads up. Also ended up with a final invoice for $16 described as "copies and postage". I would have thought the $1500 retainer would have covered this, apparently not. Unfortunate this experience is probably the norm, but specifically concerning this attorney I'd say FAIL and to try your luck elsewhere. I will say Amber was very polite and nice, but not professional.

I contacted Amber Hines via email and had hoped to meet for a consultation. She responded promptly and asked when was I available to meet. After giving her my availability she never replied. I emailed again. Unfortunately I never heard back from her. I was disappointed to say the least as this was my first time reaching out to a lawyer for assistance. If she was unavailable, I would think she could have at least emailed me back, followed up, and treated me as though I was a potential and meaningful client. Very unprofessional.

Bryan was very thorough in explaining the bankruptcy process. He even took the time to meet with me on a Saturday to fit my work schefule. Clear expectations were set, debt couseling courses were provided. Al Mickler was with me for my 341 meeting. He was very experienced and down to earth. Their receptionist Barbara was very warm and welcoming. Their fees were less than other attorneys in the area. And for the record, I like the cat in the office lol. I never thought filing for Chapter 7 bankruptcy would be so simple.

Just be careful. Oh yes the cat walks all over the conference room on paper work and tries to get on people. Terrible no professionalism. I paid this lawyer in 5/2017 to handle a old credit card account of mine was advised it should be a simple case. I called two different occasions to obtain satisfaction of case never was called back. Come to find out in 10/2018 case is still open he hasn't done anything since 7/2017 and now I am being told by him that I will probably loss I just need to pay it. He was rude, arrogant on the phone and when I told him I wanted explanation as to why I wasn't kept informed he handed off call to someone else and said he didn't have time to follow up that was my job. Mr. Kelly and his firm frequently used an attorney's 4 favorite words when handling my bankruptcy (Bring me more money!); and threatened to intentionally default on answering motions when I was unable to meet their immediate money demands-after I had already paid their standard bankruptcy fees. Gave me weak excuses like 'we're busy attorneys during a pandemic' (I guess they are the only ones in a pandemic?) and refused to cooperate with me in any way on a payment arrangement. Refused all requests to account for monies I paid their office in addition to the bankruptcy; and I had to hire other counsel because of their lack of cooperation and poor excuses. I wouldn't let this firm ever represent me again for any reason.

This lawyer asked me the amount of $2,500 US Dollars for a Bankruptcy process that started on 2009. I paid all the money up front and this lawyer had been changing from one office to another, every time they asked me to give them all the papers they needed over and over again. The last thing they did was calling me this month January 2013 to let me know that they can not continue with my case and there is no bankruptcy filed in the court. Now i have to hire another lawyer to start all over again and pay all fees.

I hired this so called lawyer ,gave me all kinds of promises and he destroyed my life . In my divorce I was left with nothing ,he didnt even try to get me my property from before marriage, and old family airlioms. If you hire this guy your life will be devastated and turned upside down . Lost from my share of house to everything I ever built in all my life ,and didn't even have the decency to let me know judgement was in so I could appeal. Refuses to calk back and keeps office door locked because of fear of clients retribution. Everything people wrote here is 100% true and the 5 star reviews are fake or were cases of little to no importance. Your better off representing yourself, because ultimately you will be.

We hired Mr Hyde to help with bankruptcy. Talked to his office girl about 60 days later, she told me not to call her until we paid in full, then they would tell us what else we had to do to file. He knew we were struggling on a fixed income. One thing after another hit us. But we kept making payments as we could. We had paid him $600 and our last check came back without a forwarding address, no phone number when tried to call. We have not been able to find him. We have not been able hire another attorney as they want the full fees up front. So we were taken for a ride by Mr Hyde. When we met with Mr. Hyde at the initial consultation, he seemed like a nice person and a competent attorney. He answered our questions and we left the initial meeting with a good feeling about hiring him to handle our bankruptcy case. The initial consultation was the only contact we had with Mr Hyde. Our interactions with his paralegal soured us on the whole experience. We experienced long periods with no contact on our case and were dealt excuses and a generally poor attitude when we tried to get information from his paralegal. We completed and submitted our required paperwork within 6 weeks of our initial consultation (Oct 4, 2013) with Mr Hyde. The paperwork was submitted to the attorney's office about mid-November 2013. After not hearing from Mr Hyde's office for several weeks, we were finally informed that our case would not be filed with the court until after the new year. We finally got our court date in June 2014. On our court date, we weren't even represented by Mr Hyde or his paralegal--but were represented by an associate of Mr Hyde. Contacts with Mr Hyde's paralegal resulted in confused dates, incorrect information, and outright denials by the paralegal of claimed actions or statements. Mr. Hyde may be a good attorney, but I will not recommend him to anyone based on the lousy service we received from his paralegal.

I wish I could give them 0 stars. We had the absolute worst experience with this law office. We should’ve checked the other reviews but my husband coworker recommended them. Not sure why because they were HORRIBLE. My husband received a traffic citation for speeding. He hadn’t received a speeding violation in over 15 years. We were informed by attorney Britney that she would represent my husband in court and he didn’t need to come since his job is extremely demanding. She also told us she would get the ticket amount decreased, and/or keep points off his license based on his driving record but he may have to take a driving course. On his court day we were informed another attorney went in Britney’s place. This said attorney reported back that my husband was found guilty and needed to take the driving class but no points would be on his license. Two days later, the attorney David Taylor reached out saying something different and the attorney that went in Britney’s place wasn’t familiar with the process, therefore not explaining the outcome correctly. When I tried to speak with attorney Britney, she referred us back to attorney David who was very rude and used vulgar language after I expressed how displeased I was with their service. I would NEVER recommend them to anyone. This was a waste of money. Thank God my husband and I was able to get the situation rectified on our own.

I elected to terminate Mr. Weller and go with another lawyer. My new lawyer converted my chapter 13 to a chapter 7 after reviewing my situation and we took care of it in a matter of a couple months. Case closed , I'm happy . Jay Weller needs to try to have a little more compassion for his work ethic and for his customers I won't talk about the price I paid along with his so called monthly monitor fees. I'm not one to usually leave bad reviews but I simply could not believe this was how someone runs their business. Paid her money then NEVER heard back from her regarding my case even after multiple calls, texts, voicemails and even showing up to her office. Multiple months later (more than four months after the fact) her assistant calls that she is now too sick to take on my case. PLEASE DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME. I hired Ms. Richard-Hayes to handle my bankruptcy. I showed up for an appointment - she had another appointment at the same time. I came in and signed paperwork with an office person and received a call a couple days later telling me I still needed to come in. I showed up another time to Ms Richard-Hayes office to drop off payment, and it appeared she and her boyfriend/husband/whatever were in the midst of a very serious disagreement. On the day of my hearing, Ms. Richard-Hayes did not show up to court. Another lawyer approached me and told me he would be standing in. When my case was called, the court had not received the paperwork from Ms. Hayes office as required. The court postponed it for one week and had to send a request. I sent Ms. Richard-Hayes an e-mail telling her I was disappointed with the handling of my case to that point and the lack of communication with me, and she sent me a NASTY e-mail back saying that she had been more than professional and done everything to take care of me and was handling my case appropriately. I NEVER heard from her or her office again. I returned to court the following week; they had received the appropriate paperwork from Ms. Richard-Hayes; I answered the last questions and the court did whatever they do with the paperwork. About 4-6 weeks later I was notified in the mail FROM THE COURT (not Ms. Richard-Hayes) that my bankruptcy had been discharged. The only thing I go for paying her the fee was her filing the papers. Save yourself the money and go to a legal clinic and get the papers and file them yourself. You will save yourself a ton of money and when you get no customer service/help, at least you know you didn't pay for it!

Looks like there are a lot of fake reviews here. Read on to see how he is degrading to women and pro se litigants. Folks, please do a little research on spotting fake reviews. Beckus, you SHOULD know this, being an attorney, but buying fake google reviews is illegal. Mr. Beckus represents my ex. I am pro se. Ultimately in the end, Mr. Beckus has accomplished nothing for my ex other than giving him a lot of debt and making it harder for him to pay his child support. So we are both worse off because of him. Also, I am reporting him to the FL Bar Association for his degrading remarks sent to me via email today. These remarks were made after I (a pro se litigant with no experience) corrected him, for the umpteenth time about details in our court order. He has NO BUSINESS degrading a self represented woman like this. And no I have not been nice to him either, but I am not an attorney and my rudeness was in response to him making mistakes and causing BS while his rudeness was in response to me correcting him on that bs. He is an infantile, toddlerish little man. Go take a look at how he responded to his other negative reviews. I have spoken to women he has represented in the past who are in financial ruin because of him and gained nothing from his services. He admitted to me that he currently has over 100 open cases. Just him and his one assistant. Do not hire this clown. He will pour your money down the toilet and give you nothing for it. And then he might call you ugly. Cannot WAIT for your response, Georgie Porgie. Unfortunately this site does not have an option for me to upload screenshots, but if anyone would like to see them, please feel free to email me at

What a Bankruptcy Lawyer Can Do for You

A bankruptcy lawyer specializes in helping individuals and businesses manage overwhelming debt by filing for bankruptcy or exploring alternatives to bankruptcy. They guide clients through the complex legal process of discharging or restructuring debts, represent them in court, and work to protect assets such as homes and cars. Bankruptcy lawyers can also help stop creditor harassment, wage garnishment, and foreclosures through bankruptcy protections.

If you're facing financial hardship, a bankruptcy lawyer can help you decide whether filing for bankruptcy is the right option and assist you through the legal process.

When Should I Hire a Bankruptcy Lawyer?

You should consider hiring a bankruptcy lawyer in the following situations:

  • Unmanageable debt: If you're unable to pay your bills and debts are piling up, a lawyer can help you explore options such as Chapter 7 or Chapter 13 bankruptcy.
  • Foreclosure or repossession: If your home is at risk of foreclosure or your vehicle is in danger of being repossessed, a bankruptcy lawyer can help you use bankruptcy protections to prevent this and potentially reorganize your debts.
  • Wage garnishment: If your wages are being garnished, filing for bankruptcy can stop garnishments and allow you to regain control of your finances.
  • Creditor harassment: If creditors are constantly calling or sending collection notices, a bankruptcy lawyer can stop these actions by filing for bankruptcy, which enacts an automatic stay that halts collection activities.
  • Small business debt: If your business is struggling with debt and cannot meet financial obligations, a lawyer can help you file for Chapter 11 (reorganization) or Chapter 7 (liquidation) bankruptcy.
  • Medical debt or credit card debt: If you have large amounts of unsecured debt like medical bills or credit card balances, a bankruptcy lawyer can help you seek relief through Chapter 7 or Chapter 13 bankruptcy.

Hiring a bankruptcy lawyer early in the process can prevent further financial damage and help you choose the best legal option for debt relief.

What Does a Bankruptcy Lawyer Do?

A bankruptcy lawyer provides a range of services to help individuals and businesses handle their debts. Their responsibilities often include:

  • Evaluating your financial situation: Assessing your income, assets, debts, and expenses to determine if bankruptcy is the right option and which type of bankruptcy (Chapter 7, Chapter 13, or Chapter 11) best suits your situation.
  • Filing bankruptcy petitions: Preparing and filing the necessary documents to initiate your bankruptcy case, ensuring that all legal requirements are met.
  • Stopping creditor harassment: Once the bankruptcy case is filed, an automatic stay is enacted, which stops creditors from pursuing collection efforts. A lawyer ensures this protection is applied immediately.
  • Representing you in court: Representing you in court proceedings, including meetings with creditors and any hearings related to your case.
  • Negotiating with creditors: In Chapter 13 or Chapter 11 bankruptcies, negotiating a repayment plan that restructures your debts and allows you to manage payments more effectively.
  • Advising on asset protection: Guiding you on how to protect certain assets, such as your home or retirement savings, through available bankruptcy exemptions.
  • Explaining the impact on your credit: Informing you about how bankruptcy will affect your credit and advising on steps to rebuild your credit post-bankruptcy.

How Are Bankruptcy Lawyers Paid?

Bankruptcy lawyers typically charge for their services in different ways depending on the complexity of the case and the type of bankruptcy being filed. Common payment structures include:

  • Flat fee: Many bankruptcy lawyers charge a flat fee for handling Chapter 7 or Chapter 13 bankruptcy cases. This fee usually covers the entire process, from preparing and filing paperwork to representing you in court.
  • Hourly rate: For more complex cases, such as Chapter 11 bankruptcy (often used by businesses), some lawyers charge an hourly rate. Hourly rates typically range from $150 to $500 or more.
  • Retainer: In cases where ongoing legal services are required, such as in Chapter 11 bankruptcies or complex Chapter 13 cases, a lawyer may request a retainer, which is an upfront payment billed against as the lawyer works on the case.

It’s important to discuss fees with your lawyer upfront, as bankruptcy law requires lawyers to disclose all fees and ensure they are reasonable and fair.

How Much Does a Bankruptcy Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a bankruptcy lawyer varies depending on the type of bankruptcy and the complexity of the case. General cost estimates include:

  • Chapter 7 bankruptcy: For individuals, legal fees usually range from $1,000 to $3,500. This flat fee generally covers the entire process.
  • Chapter 13 bankruptcy: For individuals filing Chapter 13, legal fees typically range from $2,500 to $6,000. This cost is higher because of the additional work required to create and manage the repayment plan.
  • Chapter 11 bankruptcy (for businesses): Chapter 11 bankruptcy is more complex and usually more expensive, with legal fees ranging from $10,000 to $50,000 or more, depending on the size of the business and the complexity of the debt restructuring.
  • Filing fees: In addition to legal fees, there are also court filing fees, which are $338 for Chapter 7 and $313 for Chapter 13 as of 2024.

Always ask for a detailed cost estimate during your consultation to understand what services are included and whether payment plans are available.

Top Questions to Ask a Bankruptcy Lawyer

Before hiring a bankruptcy lawyer, it’s important to ask key questions to ensure they have the experience and knowledge to handle your case effectively. Key questions to ask include:

  1. What experience do you have with bankruptcy cases?
Ensure the lawyer has experience handling cases similar to yours, whether it's Chapter 7, Chapter 13, or Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
  2. How do you charge for your services?
Clarify whether the lawyer charges a flat fee or hourly rate, and ask for a detailed breakdown of costs, including filing fees and additional expenses.
  3. Which type of bankruptcy is best for me?
Ask the lawyer to explain whether Chapter 7, Chapter 13, or Chapter 11 is the best option based on your financial situation and long-term goals.
  4. What debts can be discharged?
Ask which of your debts will be forgiven through bankruptcy and which debts (such as certain taxes or student loans) may not be dischargeable.
  5. How long will the process take?
Bankruptcy cases can take time to resolve, so ask the lawyer how long they expect the process to last, from filing to discharge.
  6. Will I be able to keep my assets?
Ask if you will be able to keep important assets, such as your home or car, and what exemptions might apply.
  7. What happens after bankruptcy?

How to Check the Credibility of a Bankruptcy Lawyer

To ensure you are hiring a reputable bankruptcy lawyer, follow these steps to verify their credentials and track record:

  • Verify their bar status: Check with your state bar association to confirm that the lawyer is licensed to practice law and has no history of disciplinary actions.
  • Look for bankruptcy experience: Review the lawyer’s website or professional profile to ensure they specialize in bankruptcy law and have successfully handled cases like yours.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Look for client reviews on platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to see what previous clients have said about the lawyer’s professionalism and ability to handle bankruptcy cases.
  • Ask for references: A reputable lawyer should be able to provide references from past clients who have worked with them on bankruptcy matters.
  • Check for certifications or memberships: Look for lawyers who are members of organizations such as the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys (NACBA) or who have specialized bankruptcy law certifications.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To get the most out of your first consultation with a bankruptcy lawyer, it’s important to come prepared with relevant documents and information. Here’s what you should bring:

  • List of debts: Prepare a detailed list of all your debts, including credit cards, personal loans, medical bills, and any secured debts such as mortgages or car loans.
  • Income and expense records: Bring documents that show your current income, such as pay stubs or tax returns, and a list of your monthly expenses, including rent, utilities, and other essential costs.
  • Asset information: Provide information on any assets you own, such as your home, car, investments, or other valuable property.
  • Credit reports: If possible, bring copies of your credit reports to give the lawyer a clear view of your financial situation.
