Kind and easy to talk to, in both senses of the phrase. After calling a minimum of 4 other attorneys who either have a policy of "taking a message" and never calling you back, or of being rude for asking questions, he was a breath of fresh air. When David didn't have the answer to my question at had he was not ashamed to admit it, and reached back out in an impressively short time with what I needed. He has definitely earned himself a recommendation from me, even if I hope to never be in the situation where I need his help again.

I had a medical malpractice complaint against a Dr who left me disabled. It was not a complication of the surgery. He damaged an area that he should not have been any where close to. The expert was weak and really didn’t look at all the facts. They lied to me about going to trial. They did not even get the injury correct. When I read the depositions I thought they were working for the physician. I wish I never had hired them. I haven’t been able to work since the injury and we spent a good portion of our savings on Dr bills. They dropped my case after 5 years and it’s been impossible to find a new lawyer. I’m now trying to get a job and no one wants to hire a nurse who’s disabled and has been out of work for seven years. Not only has this physician ruined my entire life but these lawyers didn’t know enough about nerve injuries to take the case. They also printed up a fake trial date on a court document and gave it to me to make me believe we were going to trial. Who does that?

When we were looking for a lawyer to represent us against a copyright troll in CA, I was at first hesitant to contact Billy as he was in Chicago. So I called a few others first and Billy last. Billy was by far the most reasonable and knowledgeable about the industry. He did a superb job at getting a settlement that we could live with. He spent quite a bit of time going back and forth with the troll and us. I believe he does this work out of principle as he surely spent far more time than the fee we paid him.
When we called Billy, we were feeling afraid, tense, and extremely nervous. Within minutes, Billy made us feel secure and relaxed because we knew he would be protecting us from that point on. He lived up to his reputation and we cannot thank him enough. Strangely, I feel like I owe him more money for how much work he did to represent us. Alex volunteered at our nonprofit community service organization a few months ago and imparted a tremendous amount of information and knowledge he had about the housing sector to our staff. Our organization provides free housing counseling services for the public, to help them prevent foreclosures and/or resolve tenant-landlord issues. In order to help us better understand and apply for a first-time fair housing grant, Alex volunteered his time and skills and helped us write an incredible grant proposal- one in which scored in the 90th percentile- to help us create a new fair housing program at our organization. Alex spent several weeks volunteering with us, patiently working with us and educating us on the topic. This was our very first application for this type of grant and even though we were not selected, our organization's proposal scored in 90th percentile bracket out of the many thousands of applications received. We are convinced that the knowledge and information he imparted on our housing staff was tremendous, which now helps them better understand complex fair housing issues. During this process, we discovered that Alex had a great training history in this arena, because he was a fair housing clinic participant during his law school days. This combined with his passion to help people in need, provides him with an excellent knowledge of the law along with real hands-on fair housing and landlord tenant assistance experience.

We have worked with Adam on various personal and business related matters. We first worked with Adam related to a foreclosure defense where a previous attorney made quite a few mistakes and filed things incorrectly, etc. I asked Adam an extreme amount of questions, and not only did he answer them well, he didn't rush me off the phone or out of a meeting and this was a flat rate that we agreed to, so he wasn't taking his time just to keep the meter running. He simply wanted to make sure that we were confident and comfortable with the answers and our understanding of the issues.
Not only did we use Adam for ourselves, but any time people have asked if we know a lawyer who can help them with X, Y or Z, I referred them to him. He's worth talking to even if it's outside of his core area. I trust his opinion and know he'd steer us in the right direction, even if it was a referral to another attorney.
Lastly, my wife and I are also business owners and we've used Adam at SRM for various legal matters for our business. He's always a pleasure to talk to, he's always calm and patient, and ultimately, it's a rare experience to have an attorney who will answer your questions with respect that you too, are an educated individual. I've found other attorneys that don't want to bother to explain, as if they perceive the explanation not to matter because you won't understand it. I've never had that experience with Adam.

Adam represented me in order to reach an agreement that was needed between myself and my new landlord. Not knowing what my legal rights were, was both frustrating and intimidating to say the least. Feeling bullied also made my situation worse. My brother and I needed a lawyer to handle our cousin’s estate, who lived in Cook County and died without a will or any direct descendants. Sheni was recommended to us based upon another cousin’s prior experience. For our initial meeting, Sheni agreed to meet at a location convenient to the heirs and we came prepared to summarize our basic understanding of the scope of our cousin’s estate. After only a single meeting with all five heirs, we immediately agreed to hire Sheni to handle his more complicated estate….with NO regrets!
During that initial meeting Sheni listened carefully to understand our unique situation and during that same session proposed what she thought would be necessary for this estate, along with offering two different payment options for her services. Sheni was extremely professional and communicated in a way were all heirs quickly felt comfortable in understanding the work necessary and was through yet efficient with everyone’s time. My brother and I were selected as co-administrators and worked closely with Sheni over the next 16 months to have our cousin’s probate estate opened and successfully closed.
While we didn’t consider this estate extremely complicated, it had some unusual aspects and issues that arose but Sheni was always available to answer our questions quickly or guide us through our options. If she couldn’t answer them quickly she would always respond to acknowledge she received the request and when she would be able to get back to use, which was always greatly appreciated!
There were a few unexpected and sometime frustrating delay’s caused by COVID restrictions and the Cook County court system but Sheni always provided reassurance along the way. Even when we encountered a difference of opinion over closing the estate, a quick conference call and discussion quickly resolved any remaining concerns/issues. While we have little experience working with estate lawyers based upon this one experience, we couldn’t have asked for a better person than Sheni to work with to handle our cousin’s estate in a professional way and very effectively!
