My brother-in-law and I wanted to buyout our siblings from the family business and we didn’t want to use the family’s lawyer because we thought he favored our siblings. My accountant recommended Don. He helped us from drafting the term sheet through the purchase. The federal tax issues were complex and most frustrating for us, but Don has obviously done these before. While not a breeze, it was most valuable to have a business lawyer with tax experience to be sure that we didn’t do anything stupid. Jack and I both thought he did a great job, so I was happy to write a review for him when his office asked me. Thanks for your help Don!

I sometimes need a lawyer to review the engagement contracts and term and conditions required by our clients, especially ones with crazy tax provisions that are out of state. The small business incubator at Oakland University referred me to Mr. Katz last year because apparently he is an advisor there. Since then, he has reviewed four or five engagements and drafted the terms of services for our website. More than once he has kept us out of trouble with some practical business and legal advice. He quickly turned around the contracts that I sent him. I mostly like the fixed price plan, it really fit my budget.

Don gained sufficient knowledge of our small business to recommend a structure and plan that will save a ton in taxes when we exit or sell the company. We made a major mistake with an online corporation company that really jeopardized our SBA loan and created a few tax issues, but Don was able to fix it and we are ready to roll. Thanks Don!

Kristin is knowledgeable and persistent - both of which I needed to get these documents completed. It's not a fun process to think about creating a will or who gets custody of your kids if you and your spouse pass on, but Kristin made the process bearable. She is very knowledgeable about the reasons for creating wills, custodial plans, and estate plans and I would highly recommend her.

A former customer had outstanding invoices for manufacturing work performed and product delivered about which they disagreed. Despite repeated requests by our company personnel, there was no response or even acknowledgement of our requests to discuss settlement.
We contacted Mr. Brown and after a review of our information, he agreed to act as our attorney in the matter. Despite communication from Mr. Brown, the former customer failed to respond, so Mr. Brown filed a complaint. This action resulted in a response, then some meetings between the two businesses in an effort to resolve the issue.
When the meetings failed to resolve the issue, the two parties met in a facilitation setting at Mr. Brown's suggestion, which ultimately resulted in a settlement outside of court. The settlement was mutually unsatisfactory to both parties, so it was a good settlement.
During the entire process (approximately 6 months) Mr. Brown kept us immediately current on the status of correspondence and communications, and offered his legal opinions of how the issue might be settled.
Mr. Brown was direct and straightforward in all aspects of the process, and was a man of his word throughout. We would not hesitate to employ Mr. Brown in other legal matters within his areas of practice.

I had Mr.Hamor's help to solve my issues with my landlord. I was just so fortunate to know him through my friends' referral.
He is willing to listen to you, very responsive and clear. He explained things to me at each step, what was going on, and what to expect next, including time and fees. While things are very stressful, I could feel very protected because of Mr.Hamor.
At the last occasion facing my landlord, it was incredible that my landlord eventually asked Mr. Hamor (my attorney) for his advice. That tells you how much he is a professional and competent attorney. He was just my hero at that point.
Nobody wants to have an occasion to need an attorney's help. But unfortunately, it happens (like me). I had a very bad experience with another attorney for the same problem (who left me a feeling that he just "fast talked" me and almost convinced me not to have an attorney ever again.). However, my experience with Mr.Hamor has changed my view.
Please get a good one like Rob Hamor. who is passionate, professional and fair. Do not waste your time to find another one by googling. I would highly recommend him.

Had a problem with a former employee and a competitor. Mr. Heed resolved the issue to my complete satisfaction, much faster than I thought it was going to take. IN 2005 I WAS CHARGED WITH A DOUBLE DRIVE BY SHOOTING IN WHICH THE 2 VICTIMS NAMED ME AND TESTEFIED AGAINST ME AT MY TRIAL. ALSO HAD SEVERAL POLICE OFFICERS TESTIFY THAT IT WAS ME AND EVEN KNEW ME AND MY TRUCK PERSONALLY. MARK WORKED DAY AND NIGHT EVEN ON THE WEEKENDS I DONT EVEN THINK HE SLEPT TO UNDERSTAND WHAT HAD HAPPENED ON THAT EVENING. I WAS CHARGRED WITH 2 FELONIOUS ASSAULTS, FELONY FIREARM, AND DRUNK DRIVING. THAT IS A MANDATORY 2 YRS PRISON AND UP TO 30 YRS. I WAS FOUND NOT GUILTY ON ALL CHARGES ACQUITTED 100 PERCENT. THEN 4 YEARS LATER I WAS CHARGED WITH FELONIOUS ASSAULT ON A POLICE OFFICER FELONY FIREARM AND DISTRIBUTION OF MAIJUANA. I HAD STAYED VERY CLOSLY IN TOUCH WITH MARK SINCE MY LAST TRIAL FROM THE AHMAZING JOB HE HAD DONE SO ONCE AGAIN I HIRED HIM WITHOUT QUESTION. I WAS IN JAIL WITHOUT BOND ON THE WEEKEND PLUS MY STORY WAS ALL OVER EVER NEWS CHANNEL EVEN MSNBC AND SOMEHOW SOMEWAY MARK GOT ME OUT OF JAIL ON A SUNDAY FOR 1000 DOLLARS UNBELIEVABLE. THATS THE THING HE HAS SO MANY CONTACTS INCLUDING JUDGES THAT RESPECT HIM THAT ITS ALMOST MAGICAL WHAT HES CAPABLE OF DOING EVEN OUTSIDE OF BUSINESS HOURS I WOULD RECOMEND HIM TO ANYONE TIME AND TIME AGAIN HE REALLY CARES ABOUT PEOPLE. SO HERE I AM FACING A MANDATORY 2 YEARS IN PRISON OR UP TO 30 YEARS IF CONVICTED. NOW LAST TIME I USED A JURY TRIAL AND WON SO THATS WHAT WE ARE GOING TO DO AGAIN RIGHT. I wanted to commend attorney Brian Plachta for his help with my complicated legal matter. I consulted a different lawyer on recommendation before coming to Brian and that lawyer made me feel very uneasy about my situation. Brian made things very clear for me and I appreciated the time he took in explaining and sometimes re-explaining until I was contentedly "in the know" of what was going on. His legal advice and counseling towards my legal matter made me more comfortable that my situation would be effectively handled.
From my experience with lawyers, Plachta Murphy is different. The staff and attorneys were at my level and made me feel comfortable. I've worked with Janelle on a few different occasions. She has helped me start both of my businesses by drafting corporate documents, reviewing leases, setting up my business licenses, etc. Personally, she has dealt with a traffic ticket I got recently. Mr. Topa worked very closely with us over the course of setting up our business. He navigated us though all the challenges from writing a business plan, setting up the legal entity, arranging financing with the bank, to navigating all the mess of forms to be filed with the state and federal governments.
