When I think of my time with Cindy Wysocki, Esq., tears of deep gratitude literally come to my eyes as I recall her strength and gentleness, her humor and sharp critical thinking, her willingness to get into the ultimate fighting cage we call the judicial system and her reluctance to throw a punch, and her commitment to fairness and open-hearted compassion. To the lawyer or firm across the virtual table, Cindy must seem formidable and relentless. To me as her client-friend, she was comforting, encouraging, and grounding. I never had to yield my voice or stuff down my questions. AND, Cindy held my concerns and fears, my heightened emotions and (sometimes) clear intuitive insights respectfully while guiding them in positive, productive ways. And best of all, Cindy knew me well enough at the end of a grueling process to be able to then assist and guide me in my needs to safeguard my estate and financial assets to be sure to leave them secure for the ones I love the most. Above all, I am forever grateful to Cindy for accompanying me as a caring fellow human being during one of the most devastating times of my personal life journey. She stayed by my side through unprecedented conditions, with unconditional care and concern, as one of the few who did in my life. Cindy is a legal Bodhisattva!!

I love sending my clients to Cindy! I know she cares deeply about helping them navigate divorce in a way that will leave everyone feeling whole and hopeful about the future. Her focus on creating durable parenting plans that center kids, while appreciating the uniqueness of the each family, makes referring her to parents a no-brainer for me.

Spent over 15k for hillary dawn to draft and file initial separation papers and her paralegal filled it out incorrectly and i was charged for that. After that i was charged monthly for her and the paralegal chat briefly in one to one i guess, but no action or communication. 2 continuations literally no action over a year, despite my ex not contesting. Complete waste of money I really needed as a single mom. All i asked for child support so i could aid to leave an abusive situation. She drafted 2 two temp orders and charged me but never filed anything. Heard nothing unless i reached out.

I was represented by Mr. Richard Wooster of Kram & Wooster for a civil case involving a wrongful termination from 2015 to settlement in 2018. After a short consultation Mr. Wooster took me on as a client. From the beginning Mr. Wooster listened to me as I explain what I experienced with my employer and quickly identified a number of occasions where my rights had been ignored or deliberately violated. He then went on the attack on my behalf. First filing a complaint with the EEOC that a law suit in federal court. As my case proceed during this process we met regularly in person and by phone and I was always kept informed with all matter regarding the status of my case and what to expect next. Whenever I had a question or became anxious he would talk me through my options and assure me the we were in control of the process. He went to great lengths to explain important legal terms and procedures to me and my family so that we could remain calm and confident throughout the process. He coached and prepared me for my deposition and for trail. However, he was able to obtain a generous settlement for me and avoid trail. Mr. Wooster knows how to use the law to his clients advantage. He was not intimidated by judges or the big dollar corporate attorneys that my employer threw at us and never let anyone take advantage of me. His experience and understanding of the legal process meant nothing caught us by surprised or unprepared. He kept all financial matters and transactions involving my case open and transparent. I received regular invoices detailing cost, fees etc and explanations for them. All fees, and expense were discussed and determined by me to be fair and reasonable. I could not have been more satisfied with my experience at Kram & Wooster. When they represent you they are completely on your side. Mr. Wooster managed every aspect of my case with great professionalism, confidence and poise. The entire staff at Kram & Wooster treated me and my family with dignity and great concern. I'd give them 10 STARS if I could. The outcome they helped me obtain really changed my life.

We hired Christopher J. Marston to advise and represent us after we discovered several construction defects and contract violations by our general contractor. As it turned out, I couldn’t have chosen a worse attorney than Mr. Marston. Mr. Marston claimed to have experience and success with defending clients like us and convinced us that we had a good case against our contractor. Unfortunately, we discovered too late that Mr. Marston was not competent to advise or to represent us with our claims against our contractor. Here is a brief summary of Mr. Marston’s performance: *Failed to ask relevant and pertinent questions of the defendant while deposing him and his expert witnesses and to use the collected deposition information effectively during the arbitration hearing. If used, the defendant and his expert witness’ deposition answers would have clearly proved that the defendant had lied under oath. He also failed to effectively use the supporting exhibits and expert witnesses’ testimonies to challenge or discredit the defendant’s false statements. *Flustered and confused during the arbitration hearing, Mr. Marston shuffled through his scribbled notes and four-inch thick exhibits trying to find what he needed next. On occasion, he would mistakenly refer to the defendant by my last name or forget where the exhibits were located in the binder. The arbitrator’s report shows that she never saw or heard our most incriminating, convincing exhibits and expert witnesses’ testimonies that would have easily exposed and discredited the defendant and his expert witnesses’ false statements. *During our final meeting, Mr. Marston ignored our request for an explanation of why he felt he did a good job of presenting our case when the arbitrator’s written report clearly stated otherwise. The arbitrator’s written decision indicated that she found the defendant and his attorney’s well-prepared and articulated defense to be more creditable than Mr. Marston’s. He concluded by saying that we should take some solace in knowing that the defendant did not get away completely because he had to pay his legal fees too. Mr. Marston took no responsibility for his poor preparation, performance, and advice. He appeared more concerned with being paid for his services than his losing our law suit. *By hiring and following Mr. Marston’s advice, we lost over $170K that includes legal fees and repair costs for the construction defects.

Recently, my wife and I were sued and faced with the conundrum of either not defending ourselves and being steamrolled by the plaintiff or hiring a really good attorney to prevent that from happening.  We didn’t see this as much of a choice so we scrambled to find the best possible real estate attorney.  We were referred to Chad Ahrens by a highly qualified and common friend, who happens to be a real estate attorney and a partner at Perkins Coie.  Since our friend practices law in another city, he promptly recommended Chad without hesitation – endorsing him as an attorney that he would hire to represent his interest if he ever had a need for a real estate attorney in Pierce County.     With such a credible recommendation it was a no brainer.  Chad Ahrens proved to be a brilliant attorney while representing our family in a HOA dispute.   We are glad we hired him because he and his team masterfully dismantled the plaintiff's argument and we were ultimately awarded a fully comprehensive victory.  I must point out that Chad was able to achieve such a comprehensive victory because he proceeded with integrity, has extensive expertise on the subject of real estate law and he is ridiculously smart.   Vindication was the ultimate goal, but I appreciate the experience of working with him.  He’s an outstanding communicator and always took an ethical approach.  In spite of the opposing party's motivations, he demonstrated an earnestness at finding and negotiating a resolution by agreement.   With this in mind, I recommend his work without reservation to anyone who requires strong representation in Pierce County.  He protected our family and we believe ourselves very fortunate to have been referred to Chad Ahrens.  I wholeheartedly endorse him because he has impeccable integrity and is a highly capable individual.  Should you or someone you know need a strong attorney, I highly recommend you hire Chad Ahrens to represent you.

We hired Chad for a property issue involving a neighbor that could potentially interfere with our ability to build on our own lot. I received multiple bills from Chad for a draft of a letter to the neighbor. I paid each bill immediately. No letter was ever drafted or sent. When I called, there was always an excuse from Chad assistant(s) and I was repeatedly told the letter would go out the next day. Smith Aling moved their office, and that was another excuse for poor service and delays. After awhile, Chad refused to take my calls. He never responded to emails(about 50 of them). His staff continually put me off with excuses by phone and email, and eventually would not respond either. He drug his feet on this for over a year. We finally gave up and hired another attorney. When we went to pick up our file, it was completely empty. He charged us thousands of dollars for either no work done, or for some reason refused to give it to us. I suspect he never prepared or did very little. He appears very disorganized. We interviewed 3 attorneys to replace Chad. We had to start at ground zero, since Chad refused to give our file. All of them told us that Smith Alling has a lot of young, inexperienced attorneys, and they have heard complaints similar to ours. To make matters worse, Chad did enough meddling to alert the neighbor to a possible legal matter. The neighbor had already retained the best Land Use/Real Estate attorney in the region, and was prepared when we brought in our new attorney. At this point we cannot build our house as intended. Hiring Chad wasted a lot of our money, but most importantly, caused escalation of a small matter and has delayed my project for potentially years. We never understood why Chad did not have the professional courtesy to tell us why he neglected our case so badly. We would rather him admit he could not handle it or was to busy, such that we could have found appropriate counsel, rather than be strung out for so long. We trusted him to be our advocate. Hiring Chad was a disaster for us and actually caused us harm. We do not recommend this firm. Another complaint about the firm: they have errors in their accounting office. I actually used Chad for two separate issues, so they were assigned two account numbers. The billing statement reversed the charges on the two accounts. When I called to straighten it out, I was told "oh it doesn't matter to us, since you are paid up on both accounts." I had to argue that mattered to us, and wanted the bills to accurately reflect the work done for each issue. This is another example of the lack of attention to details by either Chad and/or the firm. By the way, Chad did to properly handle the other issue either. It is still a festering problem for which I will likely have to hire another attorney to get resolution.

this attorney was part of a bankruptcy firm I went to after I was divorced in 2012. One of my main concerns was what I was court ordered to pay my ex. I asked this attorney if I declared chapter 7 if it would discharge all debt and she assured me it would. However I found out now that it never discharged debts owed during dissolution, so ironically it discharged a debt I had been paying on but not the ex and so now I am facing even more financial and dissolution hurdles.

If you read this review and still hire Daniel Pizarro you can't say you weren't warned. I worked directly with attorney Pizarro as he was assigned to work my case by his employer Thomas Dickson. Perhaps the individuals that gave him 5 star ratings did so on false pretenses. I found Mr. Pizarro completely inexperience and lacking legal gravitas. I was forced to spend a great deal of time on the phone with Pizarro and sent dozens of emails to him to get him up to speed. This was a complete duplication of effort as I had already done the exact same thing with Pizarro’s boss – Thomas Dickson. Not only was this an extremely frustrating experience – I felt like I was paying for Pizarro’s continuing education. Having being a licensed realtor, real estate investor and rental property owner for ~35 years I felt Pizarro didn’t know much about real estate. Mr. Pizarro was working for the law firm Dickson/Frohlich when I was involved with him. Thomas L Dickson and his partner Daniel J Frohlich are both rated on AVVO as 1 star attorneys. Their reviews by others all indicate that they overcharge their clients, lack professionalism, and fail to communicate with their clients. I agree. Don’t take my word on it. Just type in their names and see for yourself. Same on Yelp and other attorney review web-sites. Unfortunately, as a senior citizen, I was not aware of these rating web sites before I hired Dickson/Frohlich law firm. I agreed to hire Dickson as he talks a great talk when I was interviewing attorneys to hire for my case. He claimed that he had more than ~30 years of experience. To me – experience equates into efficiency. And efficiency equates into value and cost savings. I had no idea that Dickson was going to turn over my case to Mr. Pizarro. What I learned from this experience is Dickson/Frohlich hires inexperienced new attorneys, i.e., Pizarro, and uses them to do case management. However, because these junior attorneys have little or no experience they have to consult with Dickson/Frohlich about every little aspect of your case. Both Pizarro and Dickson’s names appeared on the on the documents that were prepared for my case. The end result in my situation - I ended up paying for 2 attorneys. I received a bill for more than $4K for 5 pages, (double spaced, huge top and bottom page margins), for a simple standard summons and complaint for breach of contact. (1.5 pages for the summons, and 3.5 pages for the complaint). What a joke. These are cut and paste documents that should have taken a paralegal 15 minutes to prepare. Being shell shock after seeing my bill – I called other attorneys to determine if this was a reasonable price for a simple summons and complaint. The consensuses was – no is was not a reasonable price. From the 4 attorneys that I talked to I found that the average price for this work should have been around ~$2,500. Not more than $4,000.00. I fired Pizarro and hired one of those attorney’s. I can tell you my new attorney not only consulted with me to get the case going but consulted with apposing attorney, prepared and filed court documents, appeared at a hearing, argued and won the hearing, prepared and filed more documents, and debriefed me – all for less than $4K. If you want to pay double to get little or nothing – Pizarro is your guy.

I really don't know what to say. I went there once, was told to come in. Wasn't able to be seen. Come back maybe a month later with an appointment that I had to confirm over the phone, and they tell me I didn't confirm via text, when there was nothing to confirm in their texts. Waste of gas, they would not see me. Was given an appointment over the phone, and just now was told they had to cancel me. This is ridiculous!!

I met David Britton on Ashley Madison. He was my “fun friend” for a long time. He told me his wife was frigid and no longer made him feel desire. So, we had an affair.

I have used Mr. Britton several times. He is easy to work with and will give you realistic expectations and not just what you want to hear. Mr. Britton help my parents get their Living Will and Medical Power of Attorney taken care of quickly. I feel that I can call Mr. Britton at anytime for advice and services and I have. When I haven't been able to make it to his office he has made other arrangements to help me or allowed me to meet him after regular scheduled work hours. I am so glad to have met and used Mr. Brittons services. I just wish I could use him for all my legal needs.

Contacted him about my car being hit in the middle of the night. The woman actually hit 3 cars, mowed down a fence, carport and light pole. Had the whole thing on camera. Took the dude 3 weeks to even call me back after I sent in everything requested. Their braindead assistant claims she called me 3 times but I checked my phone records and there was NEVER a call. Do NOT call them if you need a lawyer.

I contacted Mr Foskey about a copyright infringement complaint with no merit from a copyright mill…. Rather than state facts that - [a] copyright claims are the jurisdiction of the federal court with a minimum filing fee of 400 dollars [b] that the cost to litigate would run 10s of thousands of dollars for a 900 dollar claim that they would have to prove damages and [c] they weren’t a legal firm and had no basis to threaten legal action, he told me to just pay them. In other words he was clueless on how to deal with such matters. Avoid him.

Reached out to Mr. Foskey to take on my case with a Traffic ticket. He reviewed, let me know it might be difficult to fight. Sent him my sworn statement which he said wouldn't be necessary. Subpoenaed the WSP who never showed, ticket was thrown out. Fast, easy to work with and responsive via email - Mr. Foskey is one of the greats!

Mr Burns is rude, sarcastic, uncompassionate, and does not care about anything but himself and will not return your calls, or keep you informed. He is just a bad attorney and gives all attys a bad name . All the lawyer jokes about being money hungry and ripping people off were made for attys like him.

He will take over 3 weeks to respond to any communications. Always have a bad attitude. He totally dropped the ball on my case and charged a lot of money for barely getting anything done. He has his assistants do alk the writing for him. And never checked their work. Produce some really lackluster legal documents. The worst part is his attitude. Very impatient and obviously didn't care about the case and his clients.

Stay away!! I requested a legal letter to address inconsistent payment against a promissory note that Mr. Gray drafted. The initial response was prompt, but the draft letter needed some work. I asked for some changes but never heard back. Emailed 3 times and called twice over 3 weeks. No response. I finally gave up and moved on. Months later, I was emailed to inform me that, because I hadn't responded, I was being billed for the letter and consult. I provided evidence of my correspondence and was told that "clearly" it was not received. Somehow, emails get through for billing, but not otherwise. Calls to discuss continue to go unanswered.

Judson Gray is not a good person or a good attorney. He threw me and my special needs daughter under the bus. I hired this attorney and showed him photos of my neglected non verbal daughter. Mr. Gray knew how desperate I was to save my daughter yet he didn't care. We went to court and lost so we discussed about my next option and that was appeals court. Judson was to send me a list of names because I only had 30 days to appeal. He never did send me the names until I contacted him and he lied and said he did. I finally got a few names but none of them could take my case because they didn't have time before the 30 days was up. I finally found an Attorney to help me and when he went into my file he said that Judson Gray didn't file his paper work in a timely manor of our court hearing and that I couldn't appeal now, What a caring loving person "NOT" how do you sleep at night knowing my beautiful daughter is being neglected and you just threw us under the bus. Don't hire this man he has no compassion. Maybe he got paid off..... Vengeance is mine says the lord I will repay!

I work for a Real Estate company that hired Judson company to defend the company. It was a family dispute over a commission. I hired my own attorney who wasn't a Real Estate attorney but very sharp. My attorney gave our case first and Judson got up to give his side for the company. He literally said exactly verbatim what my attorney said and had the nerve to charge me and the company for his 15 minute statement that he copied from my attorney. We did win the case but not because of anything he did or said and the bill from him was over $10,000. which I had to pay a large portion.

Attorney Kawamura supervises the Pierce County Office of Assigned Council. His office and attorneys might as well be attached to the Prosecutors office as he and his employee Attorney Joel Harte always pressure people to plead guilty. My nephew ran out of money for an attorney and attorney Joel Harte promised that there would be two other attorneys and an investigator on the case, and that as a lie. Kawamura's office refuses to interview the person that actually committed the crime my nephew is charged with or put him on the witness list. Kawamura refuses to subpoena pay records that would prove my nephew innocent, and refuses to enter them into discovery. Kawamura's office refuses to put people on the witness list that would prove the people who filed a false police report were lying and that there residence was actually a "drug house." Kawamua and his employee attorney Harte are the bottom-of-the-barrel attorneys and should be avoided at all costs.

Mr Kawamura gets paid to win or lose. It does not matter to him. When he represented me he told me to take the plea as he did not study my case and if I went to court we had a 95% chance to lose and I would do 12 years. So I was pretty much conned into pleaing out. His loss rate is very high. When I was assaulted and told him, Mike told me not to say anything so he let a crime be ignored and did nothing about it. I asked him to help me withdrawing my plea. He ignored that.

I am a prior client of Mr Kawamura during 1992 through 2001. I am not satisfied with his work as it lacks strength, dignity and pride. I have tried to work with him to get satisfaction with him but due to his heavy case load it was very hard to communicate with him. I had sent letters and made calls and it was rare to receive a reply within a timely manner. In my opinion, his strategy is poor and lacks authority in defense. I reviewed this with Attorney Gunther and she stated I was not guilty to what I plead to. At one point, It was so bad that I asked the court to remove him due to a conflict of interest and that was a success.

I was injured on the port of Tacoma and diagnosed needing 4 FUSIONS in my lumbar spine. My orthepedic surgeon advised me that you can only get 2, so change jobs or retire. Mr. Sweeting acted as if he was sincere and caring. Then he sent me to doctors who stated "returned to pre-injury condition". Then my benefits were cut off. He led me to believe that there was to be a fight (in court). One doctor took 6 weeks to manufacture this report (and even went on vacation). I believe Sweeting agreed to NOT TAKE THESE REPORTS to court before they even wrote them. I DID send these reports to medical board, Quality assurance and NONE of the nine doctors (on the board) agreed with these reports. I persued medical malpractice, but no attorney (of about 80-100) would take the case. (there were lawyers in Tri-cities, Vancouver, and Spokane that knew who these doctors were) Unfortunately, the one I paid $1000 to review, Called Sweeting. Sweeting led me to poverty. He called me 10 times while I was hunting, saying he had to have me sign docs and return. I told him to send them to a co-hunter, he agreed. (HE NEVER SENT ANYTHING UNTIL I RETURNED to Tacoma) He called back and said "where are you calling from? How is your phone getting out?" I told him "We are camped at the intersection of *&# and 254. Within a day or so I had guys walking up to me saying "You look firmiliar, what is your name, where are you from?" FOR A WEEK at least, in 12-18 inches of snow. My friends would say "that was wierd, those guys are following you" and Sweeting refused to take them to court. He sold me out. I went 66 months with NO PAY at all. Now I finally get Soc Sec. but that $930 a WEEK THAT I AM DUE would have been nice. He is nothing more than a WHITE COLLAR CRIMINAL. PS I found out about the investigation thru a Soc. Sec. investigator that my ex-wife was calling.

What a Business Lawyer Can Do for You

A business lawyer provides critical legal guidance and support to entrepreneurs, startups, and established businesses. Whether you are forming a new company, drafting contracts, or navigating complex regulations, a business attorney ensures you are legally protected and operating within the law. They can also help prevent legal disputes or represent you in negotiations, transactions, or lawsuits that arise during the course of business operations.

Business lawyers have expertise in areas such as business formation, contract law, intellectual property, employment law, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate governance. They ensure that your business is compliant with relevant laws and help mitigate risks that could threaten your company's success.

When Should I Hire a Business Lawyer?

Hiring a business lawyer is essential at various stages of business development, including:

  • Forming a business: When deciding on the best structure for your company (LLC, corporation, partnership, etc.), a lawyer can guide you through the registration and compliance process.
  • Drafting contracts: If you need contracts for employees, partners, suppliers, or clients, a lawyer ensures these documents are legally sound and in your best interest.
  • Mergers, acquisitions, or dissolutions: If you are buying, selling, or dissolving a company, legal counsel is critical to avoid costly mistakes.
  • Compliance and regulatory issues: A lawyer can help navigate complex regulations, particularly in industries like healthcare, finance, or tech.
  • Resolving disputes: Whether it's contract disagreements, intellectual property infringement, or employment issues, a business lawyer helps mediate, negotiate, or litigate on your behalf.

What Does a Business Lawyer Do?

Business lawyers provide a wide range of services that cater to different legal needs of a business. They can:

  • Help you choose the best legal structure for your business.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts with employees, suppliers, customers, or business partners.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance with local, state, and federal laws.
  • Advise on tax strategies to minimize your business's tax burden.
  • Assist with intellectual property protection, such as trademarks, patents, and copyrights.
  • Handle mergers, acquisitions, and business sales, ensuring all legal paperwork is in order.
  • Resolve disputes through negotiation, arbitration, or litigation.

How Are Business Lawyers Paid?

Business lawyers typically charge either by the hour or on a flat-fee basis, depending on the complexity of the work. Common payment structures include:

  • Hourly rates: The lawyer charges based on the time spent working on your case. Rates vary depending on the lawyer's experience and location.
  • Flat fees: For certain tasks, such as incorporating a business or drafting a standard contract, a lawyer may offer a flat fee.
  • Retainer: Some businesses may hire a lawyer on retainer, paying a fixed amount each month to have ongoing access to legal services.

The payment structure is often discussed during an initial consultation so you can choose the one that best suits your business needs and budget.

How Much Does a Business Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a business lawyer depends on factors such as:

  • The complexity of the legal issue: More complex matters, like mergers or intellectual property disputes, typically cost more than routine tasks like contract drafting.
  • The lawyer's experience and location: More experienced lawyers or those in larger cities often charge higher fees.
  • The nature of the billing arrangement: Hourly rates can range from $150 to $1,000 or more, depending on the lawyer's expertise. Flat fees are usually available for simpler matters like forming an LLC or drafting a standard contract.

It's essential to discuss fee structures upfront to avoid surprises.

Top Questions to Ask a Business Lawyer

Before hiring a business lawyer, ask the following questions during your consultation:

  1. What is your experience with businesses like mine?
Find out if the lawyer has handled legal issues for companies in your industry.
  2. What services do you offer?
Ensure the lawyer can meet all your business's legal needs, from contract drafting to dispute resolution.
  3. What are your fees, and how do you bill?
Get clarity on how you'll be charged - whether by the hour, flat fee, or retainer.
  4. How do you handle conflicts of interest?
Ask how the lawyer ensures there is no conflict in representing your business.
  5. Can you provide references from other business clients?
Speaking with past clients will give you an idea of the lawyer's expertise and professionalism.
  6. Do you have experience in my specific industry?
Industry-specific knowledge can be crucial, especially in highly regulated fields like healthcare or finance.

How to Check the Credibility of a Business Lawyer

To ensure you're hiring a reputable business lawyer:

  • Check state bar association records: Verify that the lawyer is in good standing and has no disciplinary actions against them.
  • Look for client reviews or testimonials: Online reviews, testimonials, or word of mouth from other business owners can provide insight into the lawyer's reliability and effectiveness.
  • Ask for references: A credible lawyer should have satisfied clients who can vouch for their services.
  • Check professional memberships: Membership in respected legal organizations (such as the American Bar Association or a local business lawyer association) can signal credibility.
  • Review their website and professional profile: A well-established lawyer typically has a professional website showcasing their areas of expertise, credentials, and case success.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most out of your first consultation with a business lawyer, prepare the following:

  • A description of your business and its structure: This will help the lawyer understand your legal needs.
  • Any current contracts or agreements: If you're seeking contract advice, bring copies of existing contracts.
  • A list of legal issues or concerns: Be ready to discuss any potential legal challenges, such as regulatory compliance, disputes, or transactions.
  • Financial documents: If applicable, bring financial records related to the legal matter you're seeking help with.
  • Questions about fees and billing: Ensure you understand the lawyer’s payment structure and fees upfront.

By preparing these materials, you can ensure that your first meeting with a business lawyer is productive and informative.
