They were unable to help with the guardianship of our disabled child rather, billed us just to speak amongst each other to figure out how to proceed. SuAnne called my child 'retarded' numerous times and Doug couldn't have cared less. This was a simple matter for another law group in the area. GO ELSEWHERE

Old Town Advocates, has helped me and my family with a few cases. I'm so grateful for the assistance that Old Town Advocates provided to us during the difficult times we were going through. Ms. Stephanie Stinson represented me in a child custody, divorce, and property settlement agreement cases. I can't imagine of the outcome of my situation if Ms. Stinson, would not have been there to guide me and defend my rights along the way. Before contacting Mr. Samuels, I was planning on representing myself in seeking a protective order. Looking back now, I am so grateful for Mr. Samuel's help. I would not have been able to be as detail oriented and diligent as he was. There were multiple court dates and Mr. Samuels was communicative and always kept me in the loop regarding next steps. Mr. Hagy was recommended to me through a family friend after my daughter and I left a very domestic violent situation. For the entire 10 months of our case, he stayed two steps ahead and went above and beyond to ensure the final ruling of our case went in my favor. Ultimately, I successfully won my case and was granted full custody of my daughter along with child support. I was in a very bad place after leaving the relationship, and extremely fearful of what could/would have happened to my daughter and Mr. Hagy made sure to help and provide wonderful service to ensure her safety was met 100%. Absoluety clueless with her advice, a robber of money and a liar in the court room. Don't know how still has her license. Incompetent fraud, utterly uneducated in the field of law. My new lawyer laughed at her work. Don't waste your money. She is a fraud and doesn't know law! Garbage!

This man, Sean Underwood, completely wasted our time and set us way back. He's unprofessional, doesn't know his schedule, does NOT have a legal assistant, and is basically a one-person shop. In short, he misled my wife, and we were not discharged. We're in a worse position than before we hired him. Be careful when dealing with attorneys who don't know the law.

We found Glenn when we couldn't find anyone locally to take action with respect to our legal situation. Glenn was knowledgeable, gave us the peace of mind that we needed, and provided excellent advice as how to move forward and kept us from court. This was all done remotely without having to travel out of state. Would definitely use his services again.

The kindest and most lovely folks work at this office. I spoke with Linda first and she listened attentively and compassionately and asked questions and must have taken a lot of notes because when attorney Diane Stoeberl called me back that same day, she had been well informed of my situation and was ready to give me a free consultation over the phone. When we determined that there might be someone else more qualified to handle my very specific and somewhat rare tax issue, she was very happy to pass on that attorney's name and contact information. So while I was not able to use their professional services, I felt well cared for by their professional and responsive manner and I appreciate very much, their honesty. I would definitely recommend.

My Friend fell upon hard times and was served for Unlawful Detainer. I came across David Burger's listing online and called up. Katrina Smallwood, one of his Paralegals educated me on her rights and instantly turned her life around for the better! She was knowledgable and very, very helpful. We would definitely recommend this Law Firm!

I called this office on June 6 and was directed for some reason to a paralegal named Katrina Peach. I explained her the urgency of my situation about serving my Tenant with a default notice. To which she responded that if I retain the office today and pay $1000 flat fee, that she will personally serve my Tenant tonight after work in order not to lose time and send out a certified letter to him also today, i.e. On June 6th. So, I retained the office, explained that there is only one tenant and was again assured that she will serve him the same day. So, when I call the office to follow up on June 9, Katrina never responded and I find out that she has neither personally served my Tenant with the Default Letter as she herself suggested, nor did she send the certified letter on that day!!! I further find out from their lawyer - Rachael Hammer - that the amount of owned rent is wrong on her draft letter (I sent her my Notice with the correct amount prior) and that she supposedly prepared it for another non-existent tenant. Even Rachael Hammer herself suggested a full refund and assured me that she will process it immediately that day, on June9th. I am yet to receive my money back. They were quick to charge it and it took less than 5 minutes to do it. Let's see how "fast" the refund process be??? All messed up from the very beginning. Unprofessional. Unresponsive. Not knowledgable.

Mr. Huh is very professional. One of the biggest challenges in leadership is listening. Mr. Huh listens well and takes the time necessary to understand each concern. He is very knowledgeable and his demeanor during trial is calm and collective. There is no doubt that he has much trial experience by how he speaks and fights for your needs in a court room. He is also honest and up front with you on what you may or may not be able to accomplish under the law and he will help tailor your expectations. I am no expert in pricing, but for the matters handled in this case, i would say he is fair and reasonable.

Our family was fraudulently foreclosed on in the state of VA where the non-judicial laws are so confusing and impossible to appeal I was mostly brushed off, even mislead by other lawyers. Mr Huh was patient and gave an impressive breadth of knowledge on a field he humbly stated was outside of his practice. It was this explanation of the law that gave me some much needed breathing room during a difficult time.

Attorney Huh assisted our family with a personal injury case that occurred late last year. He was more than willing to take on our case when other attorney's were uncertain it would be worth taking on. He was knowledgeable and guided us every step of the way in regards to ensuring that we would get compensated fairly for the injury. Our case involved Medicare and would easily have become a hassle if it weren't for Attorney Huh and his team. He took the time to make sure that we appealed when we needed to and it was worth it. It takes five emails and additional effort to get anything done with this law firm after preliminary hearing. Also, after an illegal action was conducted in court during preliminary hearing from opposing party, this lawyer didn't speak up against illegal action. He is good initial call for consultation, yet doesn't follow through with promises after preliminary hearing. I wouldn't recommend him. He's overwhelmed with two clients in trial at one time. Stretched too thin. Can only do one client in trial at a time.

Alex Heidt has helped me with several legal matters. While I was in school, my college was attempting to pocket my FAFSA loans and make me pay out of pocket. Mr. Heidt was able to not only stop them from forcing me to pay or drop out, but he also found out they actually owed me $800.00. My disabled boyfriend who had been separated since 2016 but fighting for his life against cancer since sept 2019 was finally well enough to finish his non-contested divorce. He use Zack. Nice man BUT he did not keep his word on anything!! Not only were we charged DOUBLE the max price he quoted but it took SIX months (he told us 45 days) for a divorce that was already filed (wordage was wrong in paperwork) AND he MAILED in the final decree. Everything was LOST in the mail which is why we had to ask WHY it hadn't gotten to the court plus we were charged a second time for him to redo the paperwork he lost, he stated it wasn't his fault!! Well we had instructed him the we would take the paperwork to the courts in the beginning and for him to CC myself on all emails, so nothing would get missed. Neither was done. So one star. Do better!!!!

Mr. Griffin was very knowledegeable regarding the law and codes in my case which involved my dog being attacked. He was very articulate when arguing my case in court. I felt comfortable knowing that he would compentently represent me. His predictions in my case were true. I feel at ease going into the next phase of my case which is securing the judgement which was granted to me thanks to Ms. Griffin's expertise in my case.

John did seem to provide information that related to the viability of a case we are looking to litigate, however, after we experienced a death in the family and turned back to him for actual representation in a wrongful-death case, he blew us off completely. Months later, out of sheer morbid curiosity did I ask if he was still in business and he replied that he had relocated a few miles away and thus "could not take any cases in the Falls Church area." He says he's still in business, but he will not take cases in northern Virginia or even speak with potential clients. What a waste. We really did need someone who could fight for his client in a very winnable case.

I was a former client of attorney John Griffin. However, I do not share the positive experience commented by other reviewers of this attorney. I hired Mr. Griffin to handle a consumer debt collection case in Montgomery County, Maryland this year. I was the plaintiff in the case. I brought him to assist me in my case after I pursued my case as a pro se for about six months. I thought it was beneficial to involve a counsel especially since the defendant was one of belligerent and uncooperative. In any case, I hired him about two months before trial of my case. So, I did not have time to do the required due diligence on the attorney’s legal caliber. In this regard, I solely and exclusively relied from Avvo.com reviews on the attorney. I was encouraged when I read other clients’ feedback about the attorney. Unfortunately, my experience turned out to be the contrary. Here are the main reasons why this is the case. Mr. Griffin initially informed me about his “free initial consultation”. However, in a rush against time, I forgot what I learned in my Economics class years ago and that “there is no free lunch, after all!”. At the beginning of what appeared as initial consultation, he asked me to provide him all the documents that I worked on the case via email. After he thoroughly reviewed these documents, he drafted a retainer agreement to pursue the case. It is also after he assured me that I had a case. Be that as it may, a couple of days after this initial “free” consultation, I also mailed him the hardcopies of all the same materials provided to him earlier. Meanwhile, he sent me a bill statement incorporating the time he has purportedly spent to reviewing the documents that I provided him during the “free” initial consolation”. What kind of attorney would charge you back for the “free” initial consultation that he promised in the first place? My honest answer is simply: only an unscrupulous one! I come from a “buyer beware” state from across the river: VIRGINIA. However, I made a judgement mistake and ended up an inexperienced counsel. Regarding handling of my legal case, I am not sure if Mr. Griffin is as knowledgeable about the law as any average attorney, either. As to myself, I am educated, but not in the realm of legal matters. Still, I had to direct him to do things that he should have already known. Later, he kept charging me for duplicate line items and for things that I have asked him not to pursue, and other excessive fees to handling my case. On the day of the trial, among other things: the presiding judge was upset with him for not following up with the opposing counsel; he watched me being grilled by the opposing counsel and remained silent without raising any objection even if things call for such; failed to properly examine the defendant and his witness…etc. My experience with Mr. Griffin is that he not only overcharges for things he may/may not have worked for, but he was careless in handling my case. And, that is the reason I had asked him to withdraw from my case. I am not a happy camper about this experience at all. Consumer beware with this attorney!

Mr. Allen was hired by my sister and myself in 2015 about a negligence case towards Residence Inn in Springfield, Virginia. After faxing to his office the necessary documents in 2016, I have yet to hear from him about my case. Before contacting Avvo, I called several times, left a message, and he still has yet to contact me as of this date (3/24/2018).

After my husband was "let go," for bogus reasons, Jim helped us sort through the mire of Virginia's "At Will" issues and make the best decision possible for our situation. He helped us find a balanced position when we were still reeling and unsteady from losing my mother 2 weeks before. When the question arose regarding possible denial of unemployment compensation, he once again came to our aid, and de-mystified the process...and provided excellent counsel.
