Even though thousands of clients I represent each year are happy, it bothers me when a few are not. I realize that regardless of my efforts and intent, you can't make everyone happy. Jan Pritchett has been an amazing blessing in my life. I got into some pretty serious trouble and have had to spend some time digging myself out. He was referred to me by another lawyer, and gave me a great rate based on that referral, and has treated me like family ever since. When I got sober last year, he would check up on me to see how I was doing, invited me to play basketball with him at church, always asks how my mom is doing, etc. He's also very quick to respond to any random questions I ever have and is very patient with explanations and advice.
Oh, how did my court case go, you ask? Well, he basically got it dismissed. He knows all the judges and is friends with lots of people behind the scenes, and is a master of "judge shopping." He's got one more thing to represent me on, then I'm totally in the clear. I do not think another lawyer could have done it this well. He is a great lawyer and a great human being, and I would highly recommend him to anyone. Thanks Jan!!

THE ABSOLUTE WORST!!!
Initially, I was advised by a bondsman, another court official to not get Jan Pritchett. Simply because they watch many of their clients who retained him get “washed up creek” by the system. Unfortunately, I put my trust in the advisement of his frat brother which I shouldn’t have but I ultimately paid for it.
Secondly, after retaining him he feed me nothing but lie after lie about my case and how things would turn out. Other lawyers I’ve consulted with agreed that my case shouldn’t have even been in superior court with me having no prior criminal record. Even Jan told me that, but his poor representation of my case allowed me to “slip thru the cracks”. Was cold for roughly three years
Thirdly, My case was tucked away for roughly THREE years. I still had to report every month for roll call, but he did nothing to push my case forward. In fact, it wasn’t until I started showing at the office continuously, verbal disputes with the lawyer as to “what the heck” are you doing with my case that he just went and had them throw my case in front of jury. 1-day notice to me that this was going to happen.
Lastly, this was the weakest representation in the courtroom ive ever seen. I pulled him aside a couple times and asked him to focus on the things he said he would- all the lies the prosecution used to get me there, but he didn’t and ultimately I lost that case. Under his complete advisement I lost. I will never employ this firm again, not even for the littlest of my offenses, nor will I allow anyone I know to do so. Had I listened to the bondsman in the beginning I feel I wouldn’t be in the predicament I’m in now, but I guess that’s not his job to care.

Had to find new law firm because this one lied to us and here is the last email I sent to their office after finally getting my documents back along with half retainer due to the non refundable clause in the contact. Even though they breached the contract with dishonesty and poor standard of care. Placing my grievance with the state for our wasted time and funds.

Is it a breach of contract to lie to your client or just a breach of ethics? We have honored our side of the contract with the expectation to get honest representation and a standard of care. Now we have a huge waste of time and money because of the professional performance of your firm. I will attach the email communication that proves that we have been told two different statements. First being an email labeled (receipts), In which I provided Mrs. Frey with the receipts she requested. In her response, "I have reviewed the discovery served upon you and have made my objections; I'll scan over to you once I return to the office. Along with it, I'll send you a tip sheet to make the process less daunting".. Document was never sent. A week later, I asked through email for an update on our CS case since I have heard nothing since the last email stating that she would scan and send documents. Her reply was "how's it going with the discovery?". Which is ridiculous to ask seeing as she had the discovery and never sent it back with the corrected questionnaire. I responded, informing her that she has the discovery and was reviewing it last week. Her response was " just double checked, looks pretty straight forward!"..... This is completely opposite of what was said the week before. Both cannot be true and can only conclude that one statement is a lie. This is a complete abandonment of trust along with the lackadaisical update on our case, especially when I am asking on a Friday evening whether we are showing up for court Monday morning because I have gotten no word from my paid attorney.
I believe this is gross negligence of standard of care from your firm. I will leave a detailed review of my experience with your firm and place my grievance with the state.
This is a very important matter to my family and I. I hope that other cases you have, that you treat them with more respect and care than we have received.

Paid him $2500.00 to complete a Civil Service Benefit after my separation. After 4 weeks I called to see where we stood on the order and he didn’t remember that I emailed the instructions for completing the claim. He was very rude and unprofessional. I feel that he took advantage of a new single divorced female. Only refunded $600.00 dollars. I retained a new lawyer that completed the job in one week.

To Carmen from March 2019. Years ago, over 20, I was referred to Lloyd Kelso by a very reputable law firm in Raleigh. He was referred as the "one of the best" Family Law Attorney's in NC. I traveled many miles to see him with a small child. At first I was very pleased. I thought I had one of the best lawyers out there. Then he left the firm he was with to go into Entertainment Law and moved his practice to Tennessee. I did not switch lawyers, I stuck with him. My divorce was a nightmare. I was caught between being a mother, a caregiver for elderly relatives, an uncooperative ex-spouse and what turned-out to be an uncaring attorney. The move was the first thing. It took 4 years to get my ex to sign the separation agreement. He held-out to keep me from claiming alienation of affection. That would have been easy to prove. He has a son by his then girlfriend who is only a little more than 5 months younger than our son. I signed-off thinking everything was great even though there was a just issue with my ex's retirement. His 401k was in the agreement but it didn't appear to me that that included all of his retirement. Years later when my husband retired I found-out that the agreement had not included his retirement from his job, even though state law says I am entitled to it. He, my ex told me he would not sign anything for me to get his retirement. All the years I had spent married to my ex, moving from county to county, leaving jobs that could have provided me and my children with sufficient income to support them, even having to give-up our house, and it looked like no one thought I deserved to be able to retire. I knew the law couldn't make my husband stay in the lives of our children, he didn't, but at least I could have been allowed to retire decently. I tried other lawyers when I found-out he had filed the QDRO at the same time I took early retirement (my job was physically killing me). I returned to Mr. Kelso who told me he hadn't promised me anything. Based on the other reviews I read that described Mr. Kelso as "brilliant, "excellent", and "Christian", and my experience and Carmen's, makes me wonder if the service he provides applies to everyone. My life is almost at an end and I want God's forgiveness so I forgive Mr. Kelso.

I'd met Lloyd Kelso in Gastonia decades ago through music. I have now and have had up most respect for Mr Kelso personally and professionally.
I live in Burke County NC. I have had ongoing adversity before and since my divorce in 2014 while experiencing life threatening health issues including Heart, Fearful of law enforcement and Severe depression to mention a few. Been hospitalized several times in Orangeburg SC Hospital and hospitals in NC due to continuous threats, fraudulent claims against me causing worsening health issues including losing 77 lbs in matter of months, home invasion while being held in jail by false charges while Burke County Deputies along with my ex and son (on drugs) broke into my home on April 13, 2015. Never underestimate a woman's scorn after nearly 4 decades of marriage.
Maybe too much information however I was so sick during this horrible time in my life I now want all to know I'm honest and starting to have better physical and mental health.
Absolutely no one would take my case I believe due to high profile law enforcement involved. Also, I put my ex through 4 yrs of nursing school. Afterwards she won award for excellent Nurse patient care including caring for and rubbing elbows with highly influential people in Burke County/surrounding Counties. People like myself, Doctor, family and true friends knew a different RN, another side of the Nurse some thought they knew. Prior to divorce she refused a drug test and promptly moved to Pegram Tennessee with man supposed to be life long friend however briefly coming back to Burke County to break into my home well planned.
I have confidence that Lloyd Kelso will shed some light on the long hard battle for justice I deserve so that I might be able to save remainder of land that goes back centuries with my mom's family.
My prayers are being answered, God is Blessing me and I look forward to closure from the darkness and into a loving relationship with my first love from 1973, my fiance Barbara.
God has blessed me with one of the top 100 family law attorneys in NC. Answering my prayers.

I have a personal injury claim for almost 2years, during that time I hardly heard from them, I had to call and check on my status I had 3 case managers to which I had to do the contacting concerning my case. I have talked to my lawyer twice. Just settled the case in late August and the medical bills was supposed to have been paid and I'm receiving a bill for over six thousand dollars, alot more than I received in the settlement. I have called my lawyer 4 times since Monday and my case worker as well and as of today, I still haven't heard from them. I have told the secretary that I know they are busy but to at least acknowledge that they have received my messages, still nothing. I am hoping to hear from them tomorrow or I might have to contact the better business bureau. To be continued

This firm cannot even handle a refi. Was told the wrong date for payoff checks. Never included account numbers on checks needed to payoff other accounts and then made a whole check out to the WRONG bank. Never took accountability for their missteps. Blamed the bank. WOULD NOT USE!!

They made an error on a deed, and now they are refusing to correct their mistake. The lack of communication and accountability is extremely unprofessional. I put my 17 y.o. son in a group home thinking it would be in his best interest and it turned into a nightmare. He was seriously burned (1st, 2nd and in some areas possibly 3rd degree) over his shoulder and back, inches from his face. There was a thorough investigation, staff was arrested and charged, but no one confessed and my son couldn't tell me what happened or who did it. So, the group home took the stance that this incident did not happen on their watch at their group home. Despite some documented reports and other obvious information regarding this case, the owners and manager of this group home decided to flat out deny that they were responsible in any way for my son's injuries. Needless to say, this was a complicated case. I learned quickly that most attorneys prefer to avoid such cases, but Jay Mills was very willing to help and I will always be grateful. It was important to me that the owners and manager of this group home did not get to walk away from this incident without experiencing some repercussions for being the sort of people that would do this monstrous act and deny it. Jay Mills supported my need to advocate for my son and guided me through this very difficult ordeal including the legal process of a civil law suit. I highly recommend Jay.

I had Mia Alzagari as my attorney for a speeding ticket in a work zone. They tried to hit me hard for my first time. Not only was it 4:55am on my way home from getting my kids from Florida but we were driving for about 20hours but there was no traffic and my gps told me it was 70mph not 55. I hired Ms. Baker to prepare my will a couple of years ago. She did okay nothing special very bland personality. My husband was recently diagnosed with dementia and I needed either a POA or guardianship per his doctor. I had to wait 2 weeks for appointment then was called and told she was in court then the day of the rescheduled was called 1 hour prior to appointment told she was sick and would have to wait another week. Not happy with feeling dismissed.

Our firm consulted providence Law and had a very bad experience. Lets start with basics. The law firm required basic information, what is your firms name, what is the owners name, what is the address etc. and why are you requiring our services. We provided. 2nd step, make payment. Done. 3rd step is for Providence Law to execute. Well guess what, nope. Providence Law repeats step 1. and sends you an invoice for step 2. Well, here comes time for step 3... Nope not again, another one of their representative will call you and repeat step 1 and step 2 and send you an invoice for it. In step 1 and 2 you end up paying $6k in fees. Yes, they did file something, finally they did something, a filing of about 2k’s worth. And then they send you a termination letter when you don’t want to repeat step 1 and 2 any longer. When you try to call and call for an explanation they DON’T ANSWER but send you a legal letter stating representation is terminated. LOL, WOW... I am trying to warn anyone out there..
Well Guess what providence Law. I am not asking for any additional legal services, I’ve been calling you NOT for additional services, NO sir, all I’ve been calling, calling for our original documentation but you guys don’t respond. I will now publicly ask for our original documents filed. Which NEVER previously provided, NO, NO, NO.. Do not say you have originally provided the document. That will be a lie.. after many calls you finally after me proving you never originally gave us documentation, you sent original filings. But there has been lot more documents missing. If you called me Mr. Craig Morgan I could have explained, but you never returned our calls, not even to explain why termination. And I’ve been calling and calling to ask for original documentation but no response. Legal letter you sent saying copies of our documentation will be sent for additional cost. $8k later... WOW...people this is called a legal robbery. Be careful everyone. Don’t Call Providence Law. Do Not seek their consultation. You won’t get anything but a bill for What is You Name.
