Do not recommend this attorney to represent you in a custody case. Doesn’t respond to emails or text messages. Poor judgment, indolent. Doesn’t file reports in a timely manner. Waits til day of court to send his reports in, no time for rebuttal. Lacks empathy or compassion. Sends innocent children to live with a known child abuser with no regard for their safety. I hope you can sleep at night knowing what you did. If you are appointed this attorney to represent your custody case, better refuse and pay for your own lawyer to represent you.

Joshua Burns is the lawyer you want if you’re looking for incompetence . He is slow to respond, lacks objectivity and integrity and is indolent. His poor judgment and work ethic is what lead to him being fired as a Magistrate of WarrenCounty. Do yourself a favor and find another attorney.

I hired this rip off after he told me he would fight my unlawful eviction attempt by my landlord and then file a lawsuit on my behalf if I gave him 40% of the winnings and paid to file the lawsuit which was $250 and wrapped into the total I hired him for. Well he then told me this and that, After we signed a contract he then changed his mind and said he would not file a lawsuit after we won the eviction and then refused to give me back my lawsuit filing charge and refused to answer my emails or give the money back. So now I am out the hiring fee and lawsuit filing fee for which he promised I would get fully compensated for having to fight this unlawful eviction. All were lies and he did not fulfill his promise. Oh and worst off he didn’t sign the contract on purpose only let me sign it so it could not be enforced by me in court.

Attorney jumped in, saved the day, and came to my defense last minute on a civil case with an obsessed difficult plaintiff. Attorney Engler was there when he needed to be. I was recently a client of Nancy Jamieson. I was facing a possible life sentence, over a lie. When I first found out
about the charges, I watched my life pass before my eyes. I even contemplated suicide if I were to be gone the rest
of my life. I have a little girl and the thought of not being in her life was impossible to even think about. With the
circumstances surrounding my past I admit it didn't look good, but this I did not do. I was put on house arrest for a year.

be gone today. I am able to continue to raise my daughter, share all the milestones with my fiance. I can enjoy being with my

I recommend Ms. Jamieson 1,000%. My son was looking at life in prison. My son is in his early 20's, and the circumstances surrounding the case did not look good for my son. But the case he was fighting he definitely didn't do, and it was his word against the other person. Nancy went in that court room and went above and beyond what I expected out of an attorney. She saved my sons life, out of 12 counts, 3 were dismissed, and the other ones came back all not guilty from the jury. Coming from a mother I would trust her with no questions asked, with any one of my kids lives. Now if you want someone who is going to tell you what you want to hear, she is not for you. She is a straight shooter no BS. She tells you exactly how it is whether you like it or not, and does not sugar coat anything. This is what I appreciate about her the most. But when it comes down to fighting for her client. She holds nothing back, and fights like no other attorney I have seen. I suggest you call her she will do her job 1000% if not more. This place was terrible. I paid my retainer and since I was not calling them and asking for enough assistance they would call me and check in, but they charged me for the call. Wanted to make sure I used up my retainer. I 'm also fairly certain they charged the attorney rate when a secretary would call me or when I met with the paralegal. Not sure how this really works. Then they sent me a bill asking for more money and when I requested an itemized list of the charges they sent a vague list of phone call, 15 minutes and other vague charges. When I asked for a more specific list, like why did you make all these phone calls, example, call for 15 minutes on the list, but for what? They would "check in" all the time just so they can charge me. When I asked the firm about the specific itemized list the response was, pay your bill. She came to court unprepared and my divorce papers had to be amended 6-7 times before we could even see the judge. Which delayed things a half hour, she charged me for her screw ups and the extra time it took. My ex-wife did not have any of these issues with her divorce papers. The firm continues to send me the bill, 5 years later. First time in my life I did not pay a bill and I have a credit rating of 800 to prove it. I'm not just an angry guy trying to save a buck, I would rather burn the money then give it to a shady business that only cares about making more money and ripping off good, honest people.

My experience does not reflect the other reviews. I unfortunately dealt with Mildred as the closer. She is unresponsive to time sensitive emails and communicates poorly. Strongly suggest using another title company or getting assurance to better communication from this one.

I had Russ Kubyn on a child custody case. It was his way or no way and he was kind of a condescending prick but as far as child custody lawyers go, he did his due diligence and didn't require a lot of money down and knows his shit. RIP Russ.

He lost my case and now I can’t see my son regularly. I was at least told that the minimum would be that my son would stay in the same state as me. But race also matters. If you aren’t white then they automatically are against you. So they definitely wanted to and did screw me over. Both lawyers and the judge all get together, talk smack, and just pick whatever they want and they think is in the best interest of the child. How are random white dudes that have no morals or ethics decide what’s in the best interest of my child? At least he could have said hey you aren’t gonna win this so just don’t go trial. He made me go a week of trial and miss work so he can make extra 10-15k. The judge and two lawyers are all in on it they go talk in the back and laugh about this stuff because to them breaking up families is just a game.

Would not recommend to anyone, Steve will ignore your best interest and will focus on whatever is more convenient for him. Steve refused to properly get discovery which allowed my ex to hide tens of thousands of dollars. Steve will litigate with opposing counsel and have nothing to show for it except for a bill for you at the end of the month. Steve will also make decisions without your knowledge that will affect the outcome of your case and you will not find out about it until your new attorney brings it to your attention.

I see its not just me; if you don't have money for lawyer (isn't that part of what they do) you're pretty much screwed. I got one return phone call that told me they couldn't help me....Lawyers don't come cheap i understand that, but it's irritating when 'legal aid' who also don't really help you, refer you to the bar association just for them to also tell you they can't help you. To begin, please believe what you are reading in the reviews. I made the mistake of not following my initial intuition. If possible to give zero stars, I would. I would not recommend Lawrence Law Office to anyone in need of a competent and responsive divorce attorney. My experience was deeply frustrating due to an extreme lack of communication, inconsistent billing practices, and an overall failure to provide proactive legal representation.
Despite multiple attempts to reach out, my calls were rarely returned. Meetings never took place in person, and the only service provided was reacting to the opposing party’s filings—never creating or submitting anything on my behalf. Additionally, the firm relied on improper templates rather than crafting case-specific documents.
Billing practices were also highly questionable. I was charged $450 per hour, with a minimum 15-minute charge just for reading an email. Given the lack of original work done on my case, these charges felt excessive and unjustified.
If you are looking for an attorney who will actively advocate for you, communicate clearly, and provide value for their fees, I strongly suggest seeking representation elsewhere.

The person I spoke with who sets up new clients stated they will not talk to me without me paying a retainer. I simply wanted to talk to Linda Lawrence about hiring her to be my attorney. I got the runaround from her handler. Her handler made excuses such as I need to get the divorce court date my wife scheduled to be a different date and then call them back.
Absurb. Do not recommend. Fire this handler!

*STAY AWAY!* Pamela J. MacAdams DESTROYED our lives. We are the Odetallah children (4), that were the victims of lies, with emails to prove against her deception withheld from court. Macadams vouched for an absent, neglectful, and abusive father, that influenced the judge to reallocate custody to a monster. My stay at home mother of 20 years, has been receiving NO CHILD SUPPORT. We continue to live with our mother since birth. MacAdams biased swaying of the judge has been a direct cause of:
-NO CHILD SUPPORT FOR THE 4 MINOR CHILDREN
-Severe health emergencies
-Numerous preventable police reports from We The Children towards our father, of his physical, psychological, and emotional abuse

Ms. Dame did not gain one thing for me. Rather than be solution oriented, and offer equitable solutions, she incites anger which is not in your best interest., almost criminal style. Juliette is competent and knowledgeable. My biggest disappointment and frustration was the way she handled my case. There were 2 instances where she appeared in judge's chambers with my former spouse's attorney that I found out about after it occurred. I was not kept informed until very late in the proceedings as to what was going on and how she was going to handle the situation. Her assistant always made sure the invoice was sent on time, but responding to my voice mail or email messages took days and sometimes over a week would go by before either of them would answer my questions or concerns. I did a lot of research on my own to defray costs, like checking on my former spouse's pension and did spreadsheets showing how much money I had spent over the years on our children's education, living expenses, my ex spouses legal bills, etc. to prove how negligent he had been over the course of our marriage. All they (my attorney and his) seemed to focus on was how much money I made and how little he made despite the fact that he has been and is still a pot user and that is why he was habitually underemployed. The verbal, mental and psychological abuse I suffered seemed to not even matter so I finally gave up and paid on a settlement which means he won and I lost. At least I'm rid of him now but I truly felt like my attorney and his attorney just decided to wear me down and get it over with.

I contacted shelly in December of last year for a divorce with children case . I have a very HCBM it was very much a slam dunk case of parental allienation I was told multiple times I would get full custody my ex filed divorce already previously and I was never served so she just responded to the filed case . Initially shelly said she would take payments and once given more than half of retainer she wanted full payment to proceed so we gave full payment and still had to wait till the deadline for existing filed case which was March 20th. My ex never got a lawyer went against temporary orders multiple times and harrassed me the entire time and filed a bogus CPO to avoid a contempt of court . Shelly was supposed to communicate with ex but refused and I was forced to do so which didn't help any . The day we went to court for contempt the magistrate and my lawyer decided to finally do the divorce trial instead as there were no assets to be divided just parenting rights . Shelly failed to file my HC parenting class so I was not able to argue full custody and got 50/50 instead with the cpo dropped ans no child support. my divorce was finalized in November well supposed to be..just waiting on divorce decree and new court orders. The judge gave shelly 30 days to file which gave deadline of December 5th still no divorce decree has been filed, phone calls are ignored, they are being sent to auto voice-mail or picked up and hung up. when I was able to speak to receptionist I was told shelly is having staffing issues and is in court everyday finishing up cases they already had. ive never seen any other staff besides the receptionist, bette who does majority of Shelly's work ive also been given this same excuse since the beginningof time. Ive written emails which have stopped being responded to asking for a deadline and a date at which the divorce decree will be filed, with holidays and the end of the year I have NOTHING to show of my divorce I'm still paying child support and this bogus CPO is still over my head which I really dont care for since I don't wish to have contact with HCBM but prior I was going to the range at LEA as a stress reliever which I legally can't do with a CPO filed on me . Shelly is unprofessional, neglectful and a waste of money . For the representation I was given I could of did a better job myself and kept my money. I will be filing malpractice with the bar association with my concerns after reading many reviews of Shelly's she clearly does not put her best effort in cases for men who may not have the biggest wallet this was a slam dunk case and it's over but shelly refuses to file divorce decree in a timely fashion and is now avoiding any actual response and has neglected my case . Save your money & go else where with your business and your case !

I hired Jack to handle my simple divorce. We had been married less than a year and had no property or children to fight over. After paying the 2500 retainer I did not hear from him until the week of my first coat date. He informed me to of the time a room to be in, that is all he did not want to go over anything before the hearing. He was there 30 minuets late with no explanation, he when and talked to the other layer for an hr and came back with my ex demands. That I take all the debt that he racked up, and that he would get to keep the TV, washer, dryer, and all furniture. informed Jack that was not acceptable and gave counter offer I get the TV, and all debt to be split 50/50. The judge agreed and wanted the breakdown of the debt to be presented to him at the next hearing. Seven months later, I get the call from Jack with the day and time to be there, again he does not want to meet early to go over anything. At lest he was on time this time. He looks over my paperwork for 5 minuets and goes and meets my ex lawyer. Jack is gone for about 45 minuets, and comes back saying that I will get the TV but will also take all the debt. He has the gall to tell me that I owe him another 1500 if he is to fight for my ex to take half the debt!!! I will be damned to pay that crook any more money!!! To have my freedom from my ex and from that thief of a lawyer I took the deal.

I found craig treneff to be arrogant and condescending. My experience was the litigation is staged and a game. Delay Delay Delay, maximize billable hours and deliver little results. The only time I saw craig apply himself was when I was asked to step into a small conference room, seated against the wall and then pressured to sign over the title of my car to my wife. I deeply regret my decision to hire craig. I suggest the reader look elsewhere for a competent attorney.

He didn't fight for me extremely laid back not on the ball if if didn't have the paperwork he definitely wouldn't have like you have to be your own lawyer he's just there. His advise outside court is good just not aggressive enough for me. His communication sucks too. I call and text him no answer and he doesn't call me back except if we are close to a trial date. My cases last trial date was in December of 2022 and I didn't get results until July 2023 of what the outcome was because of his laxadaisyness. I only found out the results by looking at the docket online he didn't inform me. I still haven't seen the actual results that the court sent to him and it is October 2023

Retained for a divorce case where I was a defendent- took my retainer and more then did not deliver. Asked to have a TPO placed after I was assaulted -never got. Allowed Lake County Courts to not even follow the rules of the court- no one cared how I lived only how much money they could get- words of advice- have the court divide without a blood sucking attorney- forms are available at the courthouse.

I was represented by Anna Bates in my very sticky divorce and she represented me flawlessly. I had a Tentative Order issued from Magistrate Sanford which was about 95% of what I wanted and only issues the Magistrate could not decided on where left. Anna said that this is the best Tentative Order in a contested divorce case she had ever seen (and she was not tooting her own horn); it was the best and I was awarded sole custody and $2,500/month child support and my ex husband was placed on visitation. I was managing my child with ADHD and it was very difficult with a husband who left me for another woman and wanted to take every thing and our precious child and move his new girlfriend of two months into the house. Hired Anna Bates to administer a trust for my ailing grandmother. Anna led me along the process, and seemed very knowledgable. However, when we arrived in court, Anna Bates showed up looking as though she had not slept in 3 days. Her attire was grungy, stained and no pressed. She seemed confused when the magistrate asked questions pertaining to the case, and struggled with some questions. It was later determined by the courts that Annas representation of the trust was questionable at best, and put me in a position to explain some very difficult questions. Sent an itemized bill (after I secured other representation after our first court debacle), and bill included various services which didn't even PERTAIN to the case. I'm not sure if she was trying to pull a fast one, or if she got my case confused with another. Could not reach anyone at Annas office (which I believe she runs from home) to discuss. Ended up paying entire bill.

My case was unique in Ohio. As a WA state grandma I was seeking visitation for my granddaughter. I chose Virginia through the internet. Always Virginia was very professional and very thorough. She mostly answered the phone herself and kept me on track; she was always available and sometimes with the three hour difference in time it was difficult for both of us. If she couldn't reach me then she would email promptly. I ended up stepping down from the case; knowing that we would most likely win; however the situation itself became a no-win situation. As in the beginning so was the ending, an honest, forthright attorney. I was never sorry that I chose Virginia to guide me through this journey. Thank you.

Hired attorney and complete waste of time. Did not want to handle difficult issues with child custody case. He would mention needing a mediator when talking to him about complex issues. Ended up not getting a response back from him he completely ghosted me and told me he was no longer my attorney and to look elsewhere. Very unprofessional!!

If you just need an attorney to show up to court this your guy! Don’t expect any actual effort to be put forward.
This clown will not go to bat for you. He charged me to have 5 witnesses subpoenaed for court yet not a single one was subpoenaed. The morning of our most recent court appearance he made me scramble to contact the previously stated witnesses to ask them if they would be able to join via telephone for the hearing (this was at 5:00 A.M.) I was able to contact two of them at that time and both were extremely confused as they hadn’t heard from him and weren’t in a position to give their testimony. In a year and a half he never appeared as if he was actually prepared. when push comes to shove he would blame me for changes in circumstances. Silas and his office staff are extremely unorganized. I had to repeatedly send him the same information and documents. I finally had enough and fired this lazy piece of crap yesterday.
Please don’t make the same mistake that I made.

Silas has been instrumental in successfully guiding me through the probate system on two occasions. I was executor on my father & his wife's estate, and Silas was great throughout the whole, painful, bureaucratic, legal nightmare of probate.
As others have said his response time is excellent. I was NEVER left hanging and every E-mail was responded to quickly, sometimes way after normal hours. I would send a message late, assuming he would respond in the A.M., but often got a response instantly.
Silas also prepared Wills for many family members, Powers of attorneys, et cetera, His treatment of my very elderly and not-very-trusting-of-lawyers Mother and her husband during the estate planning process, was very professional and personable at the same time. He won them over in a single meeting!
