His law firm has concealed for a year, that Steakley died in 2020!!! He wisely decided as the number of his angry clients increased, wanting to know why every other client in the J&J litigation was getting offers of 7 figures, and not one of his was over five. He sent deceitful letters to his clients telling them they should accept an offer he obtained for them that did not include any of the factors making their case worth REAL money.

I hired Kim Guest to represent me in my divorce case that turned out to be a little messy. She handled everything for me and made sure I understood. Super happy about how my divorce was handled. I called around and was shocked at how much attorneys charge. I found this firm and they quoted me a lower cost. They did a professional job and they didn't nickel and dime me. The court system took longer than I would have liked, but it was no fault of my attorney. She explained to me about how the courts work, and she worked with me to help settle all of the things that needed to get done. It was a rough time, but my attorney was great. I would recommend this firm.

I am still currently working with Tiffany on a child custody case and she has been a great help not only legally, but she is responsive and whenever my mind gets the best of me she helps me get back on track.
She is honest and upfront about what can and can't be done so she keeps it real and won't build false hopes. I'm still awaiting the outcome, but so far I am very impressed with Tiffany and grateful she's taken my case and at a reasonable rate as well.

Ashley promised to keep charges down. Instead she threatened to withdraw constantly if funds weren't constantly replenished. She had charges for paralegals doing general secretarial work and reading emails she already charged for reading. Her fees were astronomical and work was poor. She entered stuff incorrectly for me and refused to correct her work or help me get it corrected which cost me terribly and my children.

My case was a child custody case. Being a Father in Texas and trying to get custody of your children seemed to be an almost impossible task. The Texas court system is NOT too favorable to giving Father's custody, even when the children want to live with their Father. Ashley was highly recommended and turned out to be the attorney we needed to help us successfully navigate our difficult, if not impossible, court system. She is very knowledgeable, professional and courteous. She was confident, comfortable and performed exceptionally well in court. We can't thank her enough for helping bring our family much joy and happiness. She was a life changer for our family.

Absolute worst lawyer ever! Doesn't explain the steps of your case. Is very hard to communicate with since he barely responds to emails/phone calls. For my case he put my business appraiser two weeks after due date on docket. Lost my witness, $5000 dollars for appraisal, and around $100,000 business value since the judge didn't allow the testimony or appraisal paperwork. Since my husband didn't provide most of the needed paperwork after the discovery phase, we had two 'motion to compel' hearings. Twice Eric did NOT ask for the missing documents at all, even though he recommended these hearings. Again, another waste of time and money. For the final court hearing he was absolutely not prepared and did a horrible job presenting my case. Since the divorce outcome was so bad, he recommended that I'd appeal the judge's decision. Really? You mess it up and blame the judge? I would never, ever recommend him. One would think that $450/hour would bring some knowledge and expertise. Alas!

I foolishly agreed to process my divorce in Austin, TX where my ex was living and compounded my foolishness by hiring Ms. Capps to represent me. Weeks and weeks would go by and I would not hear from her except to receive bills from her office. Ms. Capps was so enamored with my ex's attorney, that whatever crap he put forward was okay with her. Then she had me hire a very expensive person to evaluate my ex's business value and he knew nothing about that specific business! I ended up negotiating my own settlement with my ex. I will admit that it was a very emotional time for me and I got zero empathy from Ms. Capps. I had worked for law firms in the past and I know many attorneys, but Ms. Capps brings shame on the profession.

I consulted with this attorney and decided not to hire him. Two things that turned me off. First, he kept pressing me to come in to the office and engage with him and his firm. He didn’t seem interested in my questions or in earning my trust that would lead me to come in on my own without his pressure. Secondly, I mistakenly shared with him the name of another attorney I was considering and he did nothing but bad mouth her and criticize her and her practice. Both of those were a huge turn off from someone who espouses his faith as mush as he does. Wolf in sheep’s clothing…..

I hired Ryan Putz to help correct the mistakes I made from a previous attorney. Not a single thing changed. I discussed my issues with another attorney and was told that many issues should have been resolved and corrected. Mr Putz should have identified the verbiage and made the corrections. I feel there should have been a stronger, more assertive representation. I thought he would have fought for me, stood in my corner. He failed on all points. Communication was less than stellar. Phone calls and emails were random at most. Every issue I encountered was received with that’s an enforcement issue and I needed to rehire the firm to pursue it. Bryan Fagan seems to be an awesome individual and if I could afford him I’d have him in a heartbeat. He built a great firm and I believe in him. He should select those that share his determination and compassion.

Did not hear my side of the story and supposed to been defending me I did everything he asked every court date when he tell me not to come or leave the courthouse I've done that I reported twice a week I did all that I'm in a wheelchair with one leg I had a court day Wednesday me and him talk Wednesday Tuesday and Wednesday he even sent me a police report I'm just now getting a police report from November 26th but it's not nothing on there that I said that I'm the one call the police so if I call the police that mean they supposed to have gave me a chance to say something I was in the house A man jumped up in a piece of glass broke and scratched him on his hand or he scratched his stuck himself with that ice pick he said over there but he picked up a 40 oz bottle so I throw some plastic season is to try to knock it out his hand went back and call the police but my law you don't he I don't know he text me at 11:00 this morning and said we have court she going to issue a warrant she issued a one I'm out of town and I'll be gone for 3 weeks that's what he said now the bonding company trying to figure out why m i getting off a warrant.. he seem like he was a pretty good cool guy but I don't know what happened I'm quite sure he was real busy but I'm not trying to go to jail after I've been going through all the treat seizures and everything that he asked of me I liked him but seem like he just dropped my cage today my court date was Wednesday how did I have a court date Friday Wednesday I told him I didn't want to pay no money to take no class because he haven't even listened to my side of the story and we've been dealing with this for 6 months. He done told me at least three times oh you don't need to come you don't need to come you know he keep telling me that and then when I show up he said oh I'm going to be at least 3 hours late leave and I stand in for you that's what he's been doing that's why I kind of thought he was okay. For for me.

Only leaving a 1 star review because I can't leave a 0 star review. James sucked the retainer dry in no time with no work to show for it and asked for it to be refilled multiple times with no progress. I ended up firing James because he couldn't write in clear concise words. After firing James I was able to settle my case in 2 days while representing myself. Do yourself a favor, read the reviews and find a more reputable attorney.

I was going to hire James for an issue and I showed up twice to his office. After waiting 20 minutes the first times I was told we were going to have to reschedule. (thanks for giving me a heads up before i took time off work to show up). The second time a week later I waited a half hour before he showed up to a scheduled appt. During the meeting I felt he was arrogant and was more interested on his phone than my issue so I opted not to use him. He just didnt impress me.

I've personally only had to use 2 lawyers for my custody and Claire was the replacement to my first lawyer, and I can say without a doubt I would have preferred my first lawyer. Firstly Clair charged $6500 more for her retainer fee and fed me all sort of excuses why we would need the larger fee, to continue on with the crap shoot I provided hours of audio recording, a detailed journal of events, a handful of videos, and quite a bit of other scrapes of evidence that clearly outline my ex's failings so far as a mother (ie drug use, borderline abuse, abandonment ect) just for it all to be sweep under the rug and forgotten. The entire time my case was going on it was a struggle to even contract her, I couldn't tell you how many times I heard 'I'll call you back' but I can say I've never received a call back unless I owed them more money. All in all Clair Mehaffey charge me a total of $15000+ to get me 50/50 custody and paying child support when a had proof my ex lied about me and that she likely needs to be in jail (Again).

I hired this lawyer over a year ago to assist with my custody battle with my child. It has been the most stressful and the worse experience I've ever had with an attorney. After countless of evidence ( video, message and pictures) against the other party I have provided throughout the year along with thousands upon thousands dollars spent I ultimately feel that she never had my interests at heart. It was all about money with her and if you can pay thousands of dollars BEFORE anything gets done and IF anything get done. She did not file anything to assist with my case and my childs' welfare was in jeopardy countless times and nothing was done. She has failed to stay in contact with me and will not contact me (even after payment) about the next steps in my case or updated me when things were happening. She avoided going to court at every instance even when it was a necessary step at one point. I have continued to give her chance after chance in hopes that she will help. EACH new instance that occurs requires around a $3500 dollar retainer. So basically I am back to square one with my child in the hands of someone who is unfit, me out of thousands of dollars and an a attorney who is good for.. nothing really. I wouldn't recommend her to my worse enemy, she's HORRIBLE.

I hired her back in 2020 and switched counsel after our first hearing. She didn't prepare me at all, I had to directly request the judge for drug tests because she didn't after telling me she would. She argued with everything I said at every phone call. She ate through 90% of my retainer for absolutely nothing. I'm so thankful I switched attorneys and got someone that CARED about children enough to try to keep them safe. We won!

Hired Shannon to represent me in a contested case and do not recommend her. She does not follow through and says she will do something many times and then not do it. I wish I could charge people what she does with that little effort. She did not communicate nor prepare me for court, tell me where to go and showed up late. She is not reliable and you will go to court-have to advocate to get in front of the judge and for her to actually file to reset cases. If something is too hard she won't fight for it. Do not hire her!

I never write reviews, but I have to try and save someone else from a huge mistake.
Went with Shannon after a recommendation and was very disappointed. She talks a real big game, but that's all it is, talk. She never knew the facts about my case, constantly told me incorrect information, and was only interested in billing hours. Especially for small business owners, stay far away, she does not understand even the basics. After almost 6 months of billing me with no work done, I had to work directly with opposing counsel and my ex to nail down child support. Turns out Shannon was the delay and I was paying her for it. The communication with her and her paralegal was absolutely horrible, would not receive updates for weeks/months. In the short time since I let her go as my attorney I've already regained custody time and been paid back attorney fees, all on my own. She made my divorce worse and more complicated, the exact opposite of what a good attorney should do.

Terrible experience. RUN AND DON'T LOOK BACK! Impossible to reach Lisa once you pay. She doesn't return phone calls or emails and you can't reach her office either because the part time assistant also doesn't answer the calls. She operates a part time business/office, never communicates with clients in a timely manner. I actually spent over a month trying to reach her. She gives no notice about court or due dates. She told me one day in advance that we had a court date. I was handed my divorce decree and asked to 'hurry up and sign it' - luckily I took the time to read the decree because Lisa Thiele did not or she was trying to get me to sign it because she know it had a bunch of wrong and damaging info in the decree that I had never agreed to. It had so many errors that it had to be redone a number of times. It is still not correct. Lisa did not read the decree, but tried to get me to sign it. Imagine that kind of legal representation! It has been a terrible experience and Lisa Thiele provided no representation. She does not protect or represent you. I wish I had read some of her reviews before hiring her because I see many people have had the same horrible experiences with this attorney.

I shopped around for lawyers for months before finally deciding on hiring Lisa... I was going through some tough times with my ex not paying his child support for over a year and the kids coming home every other weekend complaining that they were having to sleep at random places because their father was too drunk to even walk. I gave my last penny to Lisa hoping that she could help me with my situation for the safety and best interest of my children and she just took off with my money. She was so easy to talk to and her secretary praised her at how good and compassionate she was.., nothing but lies. Once I handed over payment there was excuse after excuse on why my ex couldn't be served ( papers weren't ready, he couldn't be found, etc. ) and then her office stopped answering my calls and emails completely. The last couple of times I called the office someone actually picked up and hung up on me. My ex hired a lawyer to modify his payments down to the minimum allowed and his lawyer had me served and in court in 3 months! I am going on a year with nothing... Now I'm looking for ways to report her and her office. I beg anyone that needs help to please not use her... One of the worst mistakes I made was trusting her and her office to help me when I needed them the most.

She reduced my retainer of 7,500.00 to 0.00 and then requested withdrawl as representive because she had a personal vendetta, and manipulation of existing resources (Network and Legal System)to get the judge to agree even after I denied her request (She got paid to know my case then failed to communicate as well as failed to follow my written instructions). Mrs Charles is unprofessional and will take all your retainer and then drop you as a client after retainer gone if you dont follow her "recommendations", even though you are the one whom hired her! DO NOT USE THIS FIRM!!!!

Ms. Charles and her staff are highly professional, and help you realize that you must step past your emotional reaction to the situation and strategize. Her court appearances are prompt and effective, and billing is itemized and clear. She also makes referrals to other lawyers as the situation arises, and her staff is attentive and responsive even over the telephone or via email. It is important to realize that Ms. Charles is a professional and act accordingly so you can make the best use of your time. She will carefully explain anything in a ruling, but I personally find when I approach meetings in the same manner I would a doctor's appointment I have a much better understanding of what she is explaining. A lawyer is not there for emotional support, but for legal advice, and that's something many people being faced with divorce may have a difficult time remembering.

Mr. Hindera is knowledgeable and does what he says without creating false hope. Mr. Hindera represented me on a second offense DUI. I got a three day jail sentence and 15 months probation. Williamson county is very tough and I feel he did the best he could to represent me. He was familiar with the court personnel in Williamson and was fair. He is not a lawyer who is only interested in his personal gain. I believe, Mr. Hindera to be capable, competent, and trustworthy to represent clients without self seeking motives. I would recommend Mr. Hindera to anyone who has been charged in Williamson and Travis counties.

Shelly likes money. And vacations. She was never in her office during business hours, never returned calls or emails. I was always kept outt of the loop. Save your money and choose someone else. She could care less about parents seeing their kids or kids being neglected. All she cares about is her precious down time (which seems to be business hours) and all of her money!

I found Kassi in the midst of an ugly legal mess with my ex-husband. It centered on my ex-husband's nonpayment of CS, two years after the original order. I was getting called into the AG's court to waste a day every month or two, just for him to fail to show up, and do it all again the next month. When I called Kassi, she showed up and effectively argued for the court to hold him accountable. She continued to work the case for two years, leaning harder into the arguments for accountability each time. She was fierce and very successful at each hearing. She was also very encouraging and comforting when the process drove me to tears more than once in her office. She knew my finances were strained and regularly offered options that would cost me the least amount. She was very practical, strategic, logical and transparent in her legal thought process, which made it very easy to trust her. She successfully navigated my situation to a termination of my ex-husbands parental rights, in the most cost effective way. She will probably never know just how grateful I am for all that she did for me during that time. She was one of my only touchstones in all of the chaos, and she absolutely delivered on it - steady as a rock!

I hired Kassi Horner as my divorce attorney in 2013. I am writing this review because my experience with her is completely different from the other 2 reviews on the website. Ms Horner was extremely response and covered all of the detail of the divorce in a timely manner. She also added a precautionary component to the divorce suite that had not occurred to me.

I hired Kassi Horner to handle a custody issue. I went in and asked her if she would be an aggressive attorney which is what I wanted and needed. She said yes I felt confident that she would get the job done. I signed all paper work and paid the retainer well in the paper work was apparently a non-refundable retainer agreement. ( I did not know this). It would take 5-6 calls to finally get her on the phone to find out what was going on. Every time I talked to her she would say she was just waiting on the other attorney. That was the response I got every time I finally got her on the phone. Another issue came up where I needed an attorney asap and against my better judgement I called Mrs. Horner and the only reason I did that is because she had over $1800 of my original retainer. I spoke to her told her the issue and she said she could help but I would have to put down another $3000 retainer…I asked why because she had the rest of the original retainer. She said it was a new case and I couldn’t use it. I was told that the original retainer could only be used on the one case. I tried to call Mrs Horner 4 times to let her know of a meeting with my daughter’s dad ( the first custody case which the retainer was paid on)and his attorney she never responded so I ended up meeting with them by myself and settling everything. When asked if I could get the retainer back she said no. So now they are holding over $1800 of a $3000 retainer (goes to show how much work was not done in a year). Stay away!!!

This "Law Firm" is a joke. I paid over $2500 for what essentially amounted to one in office visit with CPS. We were quoted $2000 to handle a BOGUS CPS case. Paid in FULL and Mr Garza (Andrew) calls and tells us Mr Garza is with drawing from our case. We still have CPS in our lives (now more than ever because we do not have the protection of a attorney. They have threatened to take my daughter away and caused all kinds of stress in my life. We met with Mr Garza only one time. His paralegal Andrew did all the "work" on the case and billed us $100 a hour. Mr Garza never had me or my family in mind. All they were concerned with is how much money they could squeeze out of you. Called literally every day demanding more money. They missed filings on Court Proceedings that would have got CPS shut down, had numerous typos on signed Affidavits, didn't know who needed to sign the affidavits, didn't put in any evidence from our side, asked us to provide things for him and our evidence and then never used them. I could go on and on. I have worked in the legal field for a very long time and I have NEVER seen unprofessional, incompetent people in my life. Andrew is literally one of the most incompetent man I have ever met. All he would do is upset my wife and tell her how we should be prepared to lose. It was a BS slam door case. When I told him I wanted him to go in there and SHUT THIS DOWN ONCE AND FOR ALL, Andrew told me i would have to pay around $6,000 for Mr Garza to "take the gloves off" Like.... what?? I was very unhappy with the representation I received from Ms Hernandez during my divorce in May of 2020, she gave me very little guidance and no explanation, she allowed my ex-wife's attorney to bully her, causing me to submit a lot of unnecessary paperwork. Personally, I would not recommend Sylvia. She was very helpful initially, as I was recommended her by a close friend. I paid her retainer to her in cash, then I was informed that she moved to a new firm shortly after hiring her, then was asked for another retainer with her new firm. Not sure if this is normal, but the way I was communicated with about the situation by the new firm wasn't very professional and quite rude.

I filled for divorce while pregnant in 2020. I was educated that nothing could be done until after the baby’s birth in July 2020. Here I am in 2022 and still have no divorce degree. I’ve been kept in the dark about what’s going on. Even though my ex husband almost killed me with a hammer. When I called and asked why I can’t get a divorce decree I was told my ex husband filled an answer in January 2022. The secretary was supposed to call me back but I never received a call back but I received a bill for over $2000 dollars, this is besides the $3000 I’ve already paid. I still don’t know what the heck is going on. Im not saying he’s a bad lawyer but if he thinks your case is unimportant based on his assumption….you will never here from this guy. Hired her last year for child custody due to ex husband filing for full custody. Had court last week and did not fight hard for me despite having a ridiculous amount of evidence to support me being a good mother . Didn’t get much email and phone correspondence throughout the year up until the last 3 weeks before court . I don’t recommend her if you want to keep your child. Figuring mother to mother she would of understood and fought hard for me and seen that this was wrong and failed to provide all the proper documentation, felt like she didn’t prep for the case til a month before we went to court

I wish I could forget his name for the rest of my life. After going to court, and not winning, he did not have the nerve to even call me and tell me that we did not win the case. He had his secretary call me and do that part. Bill gave me some of the worst advice during the case and looking back, I wish I would have listened to my friends and family about him thousands of dollars later. I ended up hiring a lawyer out of Amarillo to fix as much of the damage that he caused, which was life-changing. Stay far away from this guy. There are plenty of other lawyers in Lubbock.

I'm not sure how Bill ranks in expense vs. other lawyers. Divorce is expensive, but it pays to have the best on your side. Bill and his staff took very good care of my needs and I got the result I wanted. He is honest and will tell you the hard truth about your situation. Never the less he will fight hard for you in court. He is very organized and comes fully prepared to argue your case. I was appointed Macy as my attorney and she did everything in her power to help me keep my kids involved in my life but due to incarceration that was not feasible. Although she was attentive and very persistent with visits and submitting my accomplishments to the court, it wasn't good enough. Well unfortunately I found out recently that I could have my kids now but since I signed a PMC (Permanent Managing Conservatorship) to a family friend, i can no longer get custody of my kids without taking it back to court. I do not have the money and want my kids safe and back in my custody. I was released a month before my final courtdate so I had no time to get a place and show stability. Not to mention I received my son for visitation and found bruises on his bottom so I took him to the emergency room and since i signed the PMC the lady still gets to choose where my children stay and CPS is allowing her to do services to get my children back in her home.. don't make the same mistake I did! Macy, was appointed to my case concerning child custody. Ms. Cassin, was rude and did not represent my child as she said she would. She appeared in court and did not give accurate details or information on my case. She allowed my child to be subjected to a unfit father. Given sufficient evidence to prove the other parent was unfit and that visitation was not in the best interest of the child. I would not recommend Ms. Cassin.

Ms Cassin was an appointed Amicas Attorney. She had not reviewed our particular half of the case files when I went to her office Friday before trial on Monday and made it clear that she had other cases to attend to over the weekend, From her billing statements, I knew that she had contacted the other side 20 times more than she had contacted me. She misrepresented the facts which I can prove in emails and hearing transcripts, and drew conclusions in court that only expert in child psychology is qualified to do.
