I am incredibly grateful to the wonderful Moreno Family Law Firm for their exceptional assistance with my divorce. Their guidance throughout the complex legal process and their advice at every step helped me reach a resolution in a very difficult divorce. As I did not have access to my marital assets or income, they promptly helped me secure alimony. Their support with the declarations and the settlement officer conference was crucial in helping me reach a final settlement agreement with my spouse.
I am very thankful that the divorce is complete and that I have received my share of marital assets. Judy Culberson, my ex-wife, left a negative goggle review of my attorney, Marilyn E. Moreno. Ms. Moreno did not represent Judy Culberson, and we made an offer within the first month of the case agreeing to split all assets 50-50. Judy's insistence that she wanted 80% of all assets is what dragged the case on and made me spend money preparing for trial until Judy finally settled. Her review is simply sour grapes. I believe I was given the best representation possible and at a very reasonable cost. All of the staff at Moreno Family Law were very kind and helpful with my case. Marilyn is an attorney that will fight for your rights to receive what is owed to you. I would recommend the Moreno Family Law Firm to anyone that wants a quick and fair outcome in their divorce.

Beyond rude to people trying to do the right thing and pay off an debit. They refuse to send you anything via the mail such as receipts or agreements for payment contract but want your debit card info, imagine that. The employee Aaron i spoke with hung up on me when asking how we’d go about sending receipts and placed me on hold about 20 times in our hour long bs conversation. Hopefully I’ll be able to speak to someone perfessional to get this resolved as that’s what I was attempting to do.

Koryn Sheppard is a tough-nosed, no-nonsense attorney who does not mince her words, keeps the opposing counsel honest, and diligently and compassionately asserts her client's rights without any doubts. As far as issues in dispute, she will cut to the chase and save the client time and money. In the same respect, when an olive branch is extended to her to discuss matters reasonably, she knows how to take the gloves off to extend a handshake when things just need to be simple and reasonable. I would recommend her without a second thought.

Attorney's fees were found to be unconscionable so much as the judge wrote it in herself and initialed it on the FAOH. Once the request for fees were dismissed by the court, Cristin's office got busy and started calling me daily to collect. I paid them for every overcharged penny they billed for. They even billed me for time spent to attempt to remove the "unconscionable" note from the judge from the FAOH in which they were unsuccessful. Also, they were constantly changing staff and charging me hourly to update them on my case. Please run from the offices of Cristin Lowe, they are crooks and she couldn't care less about you and the vulnerable situation you are in.

DO NOT USE CRISTIN LOWE...EVER!
I hired her in March 2021 for an extremely simple, non-contested, EASY Legal Separation from my husband. (We're still married but not "been together" for over a decade but live part time. get along, vacation together, raised our boys, and a fantastic platonic fun relationship).
She did an initial consult for 400 an hour. I hired her. I literally NEVER HEARD from her again! Not even being exaggerated.
She filed the initial separation in S.F. Superior Court and there is a 6 month wait period in CA. Early November 2021 (6 month wait period ended). Did I get my Legal Separation Agreement that I needed so I could then get the QDRO's done and all filed to Superior Court? NO. Mind you this was a NON CONTESTED, AGREEABLE Legal Separation. All we needed was the Agreement so then QDROs could be completed by a QDRO Attorney I already consulted with.
Tick Tock...month rolls on....I tried contacting her. She committed CLIENT ABANDONMENT!
December. 2021...January 2022...still NOTHING.
February 2022...nope...March 2022...nil.
In meantime, my Separation Agreement could've been done MONTHS ago.
I would've already been paid out by the retirement 401/457 of my husband as my settlement for 21 years of marriage. I wasn't going after any spouse support, there's no custody issue, no CALPERS pension so this was quick.
My husband is getting more impatient as months pass because of the legal separation, there is "hold" on the accounts so he can't contribute to his retirement accounts which brings his "net" TAXABLE income bracket higher. Her long delay not doing anything, we both have lost THOUSANDS (15k combined) in our accounts which impacts me greatly since its MY FINAL SETTLEMENT with my husband and I would've had the cash before all the losses if she DID HER JOB I HIRED HER FOR!
She NEVER RESPONDED to ANY email after initial hiring. Her paralegal kept saying I have it on her calendar to "catch up" and hopefully you'll get your agreement soon.
March 2022 rolls by and I had enough! It's already been a YEAR since the initial filing of our separation in Superior Court. All I need is the Legal Separation Agreement. This isn't rocket science! There aren't lawyers involved on both sides, there's no arguments with my spouse. VERY AMICABLE.
I waited 5 MONTHS for a simple painless, non-complicated Legal Separation Agreement. I terminated her at end of March 2022. Did she apologize? NO. Did she even bother to try to explain herself? NO. Just crickets as usual from her.
I hired another attorney April 1, 2022 who completed my Legal Separation Agreement in 3 DAYS! Got my QDRO's done right after and within a week I had everything needed.
Cristin Lowe didn't even KNOW that my husband's 401/457 company Mission Square are managers just like Fidelity or TRowe. They aren't even CALPERS or have anything to do with CALPERS which I already told her I wasn't going to touch his pension, so her filing a joinder in Superior Court for CALPERS in 2021 was stupid and unnecessary and cost me fees I didn't have to pay to begin with.
She will initially give "great advice" and be good in the consultation but after that? You'll never hear from her again.
NOT ONE UPDATE about your case, not one email to let you know the progress or next step. She should've had my Legal Separation Agreement READY TO GO and COMPLETED right when the 6 month wait period was over.
I had to call her office to make an appointment just to discuss the financial arrangement my husband I agreed upon. That is HER JOB TO CONTACT ME TO GET THE DETAILS so she could FINISH the legal separation agreement she didn't even bother to start. Junk attorney.
Cristin Lowe is the absolute worst and too expensive for the little she did. Charging for every email or phone call that you're forced to make to try to get any answer on the progress of your case. Horrid. DO NOT HIRE HER. YOU WILL REGRET IT.

Cristin is a true professional in the family law business. She’s on the expensive side, but specializes in the field and was totally worth the fees paid. Prompt answers to phone and email messages.
Please remember attorneys can not guarantee results, and they’re not responsible for the circumstances of the case. All they can do is act within the law and advocate your position in a court hearing. Family law judges have a lot of discretion, it’s not always the attorney’s fault if it doesn’t go your way.

We paid $3500
Two years later, the international divorce process is still not complete and my calls are not being answered. They don’t answer or return my calls.
I asked the court myself and was told my paperwork was incomplete.
The paperwork was not done properly they are not willing to do their job.

Forgot court dates, failed to file documents, provided me documents for someone elses case and left them in my electronic file to read (If I had chosen to), had multiple meetings to go over the same thing without corrections in errors noted previously and in writing. If you dont care much about your case, this is your law firm. If I could select less than 1 star, I would.

I have used for my needs two separate occasions. He was the third one that I had tried to help my with a ex husband who felt he didn’t need to pay me 23 years of marriage. John took care of it quickly and represented me and got me my pride back and the money I needed to start my life over. Pat his assistant was always immediately on task when John was in court I felt supported and that he truly cared. The second time I remarried and sadly my new husband passed away after a few years. I needed papers from previous marriage I thought I would never need again and John answered the phone and took care of it immediately. I no longer lived in Sacramento and it was time sensitive. Again he cared he listened to me and helped me w my needs quickly! I recommend John Montero due to his professionalism and he got me results when the other two lawyers did nothing . Thank you! If I could give negative stars of Bruce A. Mandel, I would!
Issues include:
- A crucial missed deadline, even though I supplied all necessary information 2 full days in advance.
- 2 more almost-missed deadlines. My counsel literally asked me to sign documents at 11pm twice, with midnight deadlines, even though I had supplied all requested information far in advance.
- Several unanswered emails, miscommunication and lack of communication for months.
- Bad advice from Bruce that almost cost me 50/50 custody of my son.
- Bruce was absent during the only scheduled court hearing we had, and it was not caused by an emergency, he simply booked 2 cases at the same time on the same date, even though he told me his calendar was clear on my scheduled court date.
- Extremely low quality work product in general, largely due to the constant last-second scrambling.
- Complete failure to follow-through on the things we discussed, and he even failed to execute a 50/50 Custody Order for more than 4 months after a judge ordered him to write up that order, and I reminded him multiple times!
- A massive misunderstanding regarding a 3rd court continuance, even though I emailed Bruce 4 times and called him once to make sure he understood the issues, he ended up making a massive blunder that essentially gave up our advantages entirely.
- Bruce finally illegally withdrew from the case while the case was still ongoing, resulting in extremely damaging client abandonment less than 24 hours before a scheduled call with opposing counsel.
I have filed a complaint with the CA State Bar, and demanded Arbitration of fees already. I am also in talks with a malpractice attorney, as I believe Bruce's failures to perform basic attorney functions have cost me more than just his fees at this point.
My advice is to run, not walk, to any family law attorney OTHER Than Bruce A Mandel.

Nicole was pawned off on me, for lack of better words, I went in thinking I was hiring Ms Whyte, and ended up with Miss Schmidt. She was rude through most of the process, and really did not listen, it was much easier for her to handle things in a cookie cutter fashion than to think outside the box. My biggest mistake was not getting a new attorney after our first day in court when she negotiated, I had very little involvement wirh that and was told it was only a preliminary and that we could get it changed later. Come to find out that is actually a very difficult feat. She prefers only contact through email. Once your case is finished, she mmakes it clear that she is no longer your attorney, you can rehire her for $300 an hour to ask her about your specifics about what was agreed upon in your negotiation. There's no information given on preparation for the future and in what instances you are entitled to make negotiations. Now I am paying an even steeper price by financial loss through her settling instead of fighting the fight and by hiring a new attorney to review and inform me of all that was agreed upon.

I have to comment on how pleased I am with the extreme professionalism Jessica and her paralegal Gina exhibit. Together, they really care about help their clients get through once of the most trying times in a persons life. I attempted to handle my own divorce but my ex-spouse retained an attorney known for bully tactics and proceeded to dismantle me. I met with Beatrice, Jessica, and Mareva and they immediately devised a plan and executed well. Jessica was kind and caring while dealing with me and polite, yet firm, with the opposing attorney when he would try to bully her as well. I was probably not an easy client, as I’m extremely disorganized and a chronic procrastinator, but with Jessica and Marevas help we were able to establish order from chaos. Mike assisted me in a time when I had no hope. He was proactive, knowledgeable, transparent but most importantly he always took a very honest approach. He never fed into game play or attacking by the other part and always kept everything factual. In my case for divorce I paid out 100 thousand and when it came time for trial he wanted another 8 thousand. I couldn't afford it at the time. So through the whole trial he did not bearly speak to me, and wouldn't even go over the case. He's all about money and doesn't care about his clients

Carmel D’Amato is an outstanding family law attorney and I feel fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with her and her team at Seinturier and D’Amato. Of particular importance to me, she listens carefully to her clients and asks good questions in order to understand their goals and needs. She provided me with excellent advice based on the facts of my case and what I told her my goals were. Of particular importance, she helped me understand the difference between what I wanted and thought was fair, based on what I read about California family law, and what were likely outcomes given the reality of California family law and the family law system in Shasta county. Helped us with a very sad situation having to get a restraining order. He was very straightforward About how to deal with the matter he was very fair about what he charged us and he got us through a very uncomfortable situation. We consulted him on another matter he took an hour of his time at least and unlike other attorneys who told us they should start legal proceedings he advised against it citing that It would end up costing us double if we proceeded at that time and that we should hold off for two years it was a spousal support modification issue. I cannot say enough good things about Scott Olson I’m in the process of seeking his help again and I am confident he will Come through for us!

I was referred to Andrew by Legal Shield. The initial call was great, and I sent him the file on my case. After review, we spoke again, and instead of taking the case on contingency, Andrew wanted to do a retainer with hourly plus contingency, which I agreed to, and even insisted on increasing the contingency percentage. I told him I could fund the retainer and start the case in about three weeks. At this point, his demeanor changed significantly, and it got awkward. He then told me to call him back when I was ready to start and that he wouldn't sent the agreement to be reviewed until then. Odd, but I agreed.
I called him back sooner than originally forecast, 20 days later, ready to start the case and fund the retainer, but it went to voice mail. Over the next few days I left several voicemails and texts until I finally got a text reply that he wasn't interested in working with me. I said I was sorry to hear that, and asked why but did not receive a reply. I sent a follow-up asking for the reason, but still no reply. Very unprofessional; should have believed the other reviews.

Steve was the only attorney I called who answered some basic questions and spoke to me like a person even before the retainer fee. We had a flat fee for my uncontested divorce. He had me provide some information and a basis for our divorce agreement and even provided an example template for me to use. After I gave him all the information he needed he filled out and submitted all of the forms for my divorce and even answered some questions for me after the entire process was over. Ms. Murray simply disappeared on me during a child support issue. She stopped answering emails and would not return my phone calls. The answer I finally got from her admin MONTHS later was that Ms. Murray had not planned on my case taking up as much time as it was, and that she had "bigger" divorce cases she was working on. For which he stats to me you n front of 2 witnesses that I did not owe him any more money. In his exact words "we are square. You owe me nothing." My witnesses wrote out affidavits and submitted them. I had to FIRE this attorney due to him making back door negotiations with Opposing Counsel withOUT my knowledge or consent. I would give Mr. Young 0 stars if that were an option.
Mr. Young was my second attorney on my divorce case because I was seeking a strong custody lawyer and he was suggested to me as a custody attorney. I have nothing positive to say and deeply regret using him. He charged a lot of money for absolutely no benefit, I literally would have gotten the same result if I had represented myself. I say that confidently as I am now three years post divorce and have represented myself at numerous hearings over the years.
Ladies dealing with domestic abuse situations in particular do not use this attorney. My ex was abusive. I asked for some basic things in my custody agreement such as doing custody exchanges at a public place. Mr. Young scoffed and asked if that was really necessary stating I would find it to be an inconvenience down the road. Three years later, my ex is still abusive and I am so grateful I insisted on adding this language despite his "advice" not to.
I was the primary supporter financially of our family and asked Mr. Young to fight on my behalf to reduce my alimony obligation based on the fact that our marriage did not contribute to my ex's inability to support himself. He said there was nothing he could do about alimony. Three years later, I've had three different attorneys tell me I should have fought the alimony originally and that it's harder to change later. I am currently going back to court to get it reduced.
He made no effort on the custody agreement. He simply wrote into the agreement the items I provided to him. I am regularly finding errors which has caused a lot of difficulty in coordinating visitation exchanges. For the amount of money I paid him, and because he's marketed himself as a custody attorney, I would have expected the custody agreement to be air tight.
Mr. Young was my second lawyer so my paperwork had already been filed, however, his office insisted on refiling. I found numerous errors they needed to correct. I was charged a lot for them to do something i had never asked and for them to do it incorrectly.
Every step of the way, the work Mr. Young and his office provided was incorrect, unhelpful, and cost a ridiculous amount. I can not strongly enough urge people, especially women, to not use Mr. Young's services.

Joel assisted me with my divorce and my violent ex trying to get his rights back. When Joel decided to take on my case it was based of an extensive consultation. Perhaps if you are looking for someone to escalate, increase conflict and wreak havoc on the other party, Kate is worth your hire. But, she was assigned as our child's minor counsel in a high-conflict divorce and she caused irreparable harm to my child. Immediately siding with the charming, manipulative abuser, she filed false allegations against the protective parent, which shifted custody in the abuser's favor and never reverted back, despite evaluations proving her allegations were unfounded. She in no way represented our child's best interests and instead didn't invest the time, energy into fully understanding our admittedly complex case. She is a shame to the system and should not be serving as minor's counsel for any child.
