I hired Myron for a Felony case in 2015, He was very knowledgeable with this type of case. He handled it very professionally and even got me a plea in which I received probation. I hired him again to get it removed from my criminal background which he did with ease. I am now moving on with my life in a more legal manner! Great Job Myron, Thank you!

We hired this attorney and he completely misled us from the beginning. He didn't file any of the motions he told us he would. Kept saying my husband would get probation then 10 minutes before sentencing said sorry it's mandatory jail time. And he didn't know that? I would never recommend him to anyone.

Im not sure about the negative reply. Bradley was referred to me by my boss. My boss had a well known national case involving murder and my boss did not take part in the murder but he was looking at 11+ years. Bradley got him on a relaxed house arrest. As for my case. Westlake charged me and i fought the charges and westlake decided to punish me and charge me with more charges. Westlake tried to get over on me so many times and put warrants out for me from their mistakes. This guy got the entire case thrown out on a technicality. As for communication i speak to him directly through text all the time, never have a issue reaching him. Upfront no bs lawyer.

I was recently a client of Nancy Jamieson. I was facing a possible life sentence, over a lie. When I first found out about the charges, I watched my life pass before my eyes. I even contemplated suicide if I were to be gone the rest of my life. I have a little girl and the thought of not being in her life was impossible to even think about. With the circumstances surrounding my past I admit it didn't look good, but this I did not do. I was put on house arrest for a year. When I met Nancy she was a little intimidating. I had already heard a lot of good things about her, but not knowing her I still questioned anyone with my life in there hands. Nancy never lied to me, she told me like it was weather I like it or not. No matter what time of day or night I had questions and concerns, she was right there. Nancy was my guardian angel, and I will forever be in debt with her. She took my case, and she made sure she paid attention to detail, she took my case seriously, and she handled my case like a super woman. Even though she didn't want me to take it to trial, she rode with me, and never waivered. When trial started She did her dam thing. It was my word against the other persons. Nancy fought my case and held nothing back. She was prepared, on time, and you knew she knew her stuff. She saved my life. out of 12 counts 4 got dismissed and the jury came back with a not guilty verdict. Words will never express the appreciation gratitude and honor I have for Nancy. She saved my life. She stuck by my side and fought my case without holding anything back. She handled the court room like a boss and was able to show the jury it was all lies. Without Nancy my life could be gone today. I am able to continue to raise my daughter, share all the milestones with my fiance. I can enjoy being with my family and moving on with my life. Nancy got me my life back. Hands down there is no other attorney I would recommend. She is more like family now. She is one hell of a woman, and an attorney. Thank you Nancy for saving my life, and bringing me home to my family. You want someone to take your case seriously and fight like hell. She's definitely the lady you want on your team.

I recommend Ms. Jamieson 1,000%. My son was looking at life in prison. My son is in his early 20's, and the circumstances surrounding the case did not look good for my son. But the case he was fighting he definitely didn't do, and it was his word against the other person. Nancy went in that court room and went above and beyond what I expected out of an attorney. She saved my sons life, out of 12 counts, 3 were dismissed, and the other ones came back all not guilty from the jury. Coming from a mother I would trust her with no questions asked, with any one of my kids lives. Now if you want someone who is going to tell you what you want to hear, she is not for you. She is a straight shooter no BS. She tells you exactly how it is whether you like it or not, and does not sugar coat anything. This is what I appreciate about her the most. But when it comes down to fighting for her client. She holds nothing back, and fights like no other attorney I have seen. I suggest you call her she will do her job 1000% if not more. Thank you again Nancy for your hard work and seriousness you took in my sons case. You are a angel in disguise in so many ways.

My Deceased husband has been a client for 15+ years at Kelley Ferraro. Over the years I have dealt with many professional employees from attorneys to secretaries to probate, etc. I have two employees that have stood out over the years one being Bidea Kelly. I met Bidea through a business that I had had and she had turned me on to Kelley Ferraro. At that time she worked in probate and always was very personal. Bidea would give you as much information as she could or turn you on to another employee that would be able to answer your questions. The other employee is Valerie, the settlement coordinator. sometimes in a large law firm It's almost the luck of the draw what employee you get to speak to and for the last eight months I have been blessed to get Valerie. When speaking with her whether it's a question or she calls to give me information it's almost like she takes it personal as if she understands what I'm going through. I have gotten more information from Valerie in eight months then I have in the 15 years that I've been dealing With this law firm. There is much protocol / paperwork dealing with a lawsuit, as well as different departments. I always felt in the last 14 years that my case had been Unintentionally lost in the shuffle. NOT with Valerie, she knows exactly what chain the protocol has to take before a settlement and never hesitates to explain why a settlement would take as long as it does! Valerie has worked very hard on my case and I'm sure she does this for other clients as well. Of all the employees I have come in contact with I feel confident in saying Valerie enjoys her job and takes pride in being the best she can be for Kelley Ferraro !! She's a keeper!!! Thank you , Linda Messina

For anyone considering hiring this firm for divorce representation, I highly encourage you to reconsider. Upon retaining them for my own proceeding, I had thought I was hiring the best in Cleveland. In every aspect I felt I was under-represented and there was a complete disregard for communication and explanation of processes. Unanswered emails, phone calls never returned, attempts to reach out to senior partners (that never responded) to try and resolve matters. In short, I can only say that as one of the most stressful situations you will face in life, it is my opinion that you will only be compounding that stress in hiring this firm. A truly disappointing experience.

This attorney is a DIAMOND in legal representation! At the time I hired her in 2022 I was in the most horrific private custody battle. My previous attorney was horrendous. The majority of other attorney's either flat out turned down my case or wanted a $20,000 retainer. Mary Jo listened to what was happening and jumped in with both barrels blazing. For the first time in 2 years, I felt like my attorney was on my side. She fought and advocated for me. She contacted me the morning of hearings to check in. My previous attorney NEVER provided guidance on hearings. Money - remember how I said most attorney's wanted an outrageous retainer? Not Mary Jo. She asked for a reasonable retainer and throughout my case has not over charged. My previous attorney billed 8.50 for an email with less than 5 words. Mary Jo does not believe in that predatory billing. Choose her, I promise you will be forever grateful you did!!!

My wife and I engaged Mary Jo Hanson for a step-parent adoption, confident in her claim of expertise in such cases. Despite promptly paying a retainer, to say that our experience with her was less than satisfactory would be a gross misscharacterisation. Over two years, communication was scarce, and it became evident that she requested unnecessary information and purportedly filed documents that were never submitted. After deciding to navigate the process ourselves, we discovered that the adoption procedure was more straightforward than initially presented. In a matter of months, we successfully completed all necessary forms and procedures independently. Subsequently, we requested a refund from Ms. Hanson, who declined, leading us to pursue legal action. Throughout the court proceedings, Ms. Hanson exhibited a consistently rude and disrespectful demeanor. Fabricating information and providing conflicting accounts during phone conversations, she demonstrated a lack of professionalism. In court, she continued with false statements and repeatedly referred to my wife by the wrong name, despite corrections. We discovered her actual lack of experience in these cases and her main intention being to use our money and case to learn from...that is not what we paid for. Despite her requests for numerous continuances, we eventually had our day in court. The judge found Ms. Hanson's claims of filing documents to be untrue, while our case was supported by clear evidence. Despite a judgment in our favor, Ms. Hanson has made no attempt to fulfill the court-ordered payment. We are currently exploring additional avenues to collect but it has been nearly a year since the judgement was ordered and over three years since we paid her. Our intention in sharing this experience is to inform others considering legal services from Ms. Hanson. Had we known about her unprofessional practices, we would not have chosen her for such an important matter. We hope our story aids others in making more informed decisions when seeking legal representation.

Mary Jo is an unorganized liar and only wants your money. She will not do anything right for a client who is African American. She will lie her way through to be retained and after she is retained she will not do anything you ask even if it’s beneficial to your case even if you give her enough evidence to do so she will find reasons not to. If she knows anyone personally on your case, she will side with them and set your case up to fail. She will not keep you updated with your case nor with your fees and overcharge you constantly for the smallest things. She will constantly request you to come into her office so she can over charge you for nothing. She will also overcharge you for every call or text message you send her. If she tells you she personally knows anyone on your case do not hire her. If your African America. DO NOT HIRE HER!!!! She will secretly work with them against you. She will even try to call you a liar and say you didn’t request something. Every African American client is treated as if they are ignorant of the law and as if she knows best. I suggest everyone who has an issue with her to make a review for everyone to see and to file a Grievance against her through the Supreme Court and the American Bar Association. The more grievances the greater outcome of her being disciplined.

I cannot say enough good things about Mr. Korey. As someone who was entangled in the criminal justice system for more than twenty years, I have had my fair share of ‘lawyers.” Not a single one has even come close to the dedication and genuine concern that was demonstrated by Mr. Korey when representing me on a felony drug charge. Mr. Korey spent numerous hours with me in his office going over the case, asking me questions, and actually doing his job, something I had never experienced with my previous counsel. Never had a previous lawyer even asked me what happened. I only knew phrases like “they are offering you a plea and we’re taking it.” Mr. Korey was not like that at all. He does not settle cases with bargains, he wins cases on his clients behalf. Because of my past experience with the criminal justice system, I obtained a BA in Criminology and focused on the law as a graduate student. This was when I became to know Mr. Korey. Unfortunate circumstances but a very fortunate meeting, and ultimate win of course, by Mr. Korey. The only thing I regret is not finding him sooner. I consider myself fairly educated on the law and certainly someone who knows their constitutional rights–and when they are being violated. Sadly, that is not always enough to win a case. You need an attorney like Mr. Korey to be your voice in the court room and fight for your rights. The court did not care what I had to say but they listened real quick when Mr. Korey took the case. He actually pointed out ANOTHER violation to my constitutional rights I had missed. It was amazing and simple refreshing to witness a lawyer practice law. He is a force to be reckoned with, a powerhouse and although he has the title/label ( and rightfully earned) of “super lawyer,” the term does not even do him justice. I have multiple times and still do, wholeheartedly recommend, without any hesitation, Mr. Korey to anyone who is in need of counsel. Do not waste time as I did, call Mr. Korey (yes, he is an attorney who actually takes calls and speaks with you).

He does not allow the someone to be taken advantage of by the system! He will be honest about the outcome and will be there step by step until you make it through to the other side! Kevin was recommended by a friend who had used him in the past year and he had gotten the positive results I could only dream of attaining. I was facing 3 different felony cases (5 felony charges ranging from an F3, F4 and F5s) and 4 misdemeanors in two different municipalities. And even though I had 3 different judges Kevin was there on time for every single appearance. The great thing about Kevin is you won't let you be judged solely on the charges that are filed. He will let you know straight up what the best possible outcome will be and pushes to keep to that word! Thank you Kevin for your help and hard work!

After I was charged with an OVI , I fired my first attorney for not showing up for my 1st pretrial. I hired Mr. Cafferkey after a recommendation from a friend. I met with Mr. Cafferkey to develop a strategy for my case. The first red flag that came up was that he suggested that I accept a charge reduction to Physical Control which I was 100% against doing. I insisted on going to trial and Mr. Cafferkey wasn't happy about doing this. The Second red flag that came up was after 3 or 4 pretrials he was being really passive. He ever filled a Motion to Preserve for which my 3rd attorney did. The Third red flag was when we were at the ALS hearing I requested that if the officer doesn't show up I asked for him to put in a motion for dismissal. He said he would do it and when we were at hearing he immediately starts talking about driving privileges and skills the ALS dismissal. I had to fire him in court to advocate on my behalf. I hired Pattituce and Associates and got the desired outcome that I wanted. It's almost as if this attorney was colluding with the other side. I'm glad I was smart enough to realize he wasn't doing his job and that he needed to be fired.

The first time he missed court I chalked it up to a mistake. The second time he missed court, the judge was visibly upset and I knew I got a dud for a lawyer. After he missed court I waited for him to call me with a new court date (as the judge instructed me to do). One week went by before I called him...... and called him..... and emailed him....... Another whole week passed before he called me back. That's 2 total weeks (14 days) that it took for him to call me back. He did apologize, but for what I paid him......... not good enough. I had an OVI (my first) which he was unable to get reduced to Reckless Op. I'm in the probation process right now and need a few things from the judge in order to carry a firearm (as needed for work). He, of course, has been MIA on this front. Just recently I asked him to call me back Monday EITHER WAY on this question. It's Wednesday....... and nothing. This guy is either a really bad lawyer or is simply not interested in my case. Whatever the case, I paid him upfront. If he doesn't want to continue as my lawyer return my money (even half, or a quarter, I'm reasonable) and move on. DO NOT USE BILL MCGINTY. Side note: I attended an OVI hotel weekend (as a jail alternative). A guy I met there had Bill McGinty's law partner (either Hilow or Spellacy, forget which one) and he told me that his lawyer also missed 2 court dates. WOW. You may want to avoid the entire law firm.

I was charged with probably the most serious misdemeanor one could get and due to the specific facts of the case, the cards were stacked firmly against me. I knew I needed an expert right away. I called Mr. McGinty's office and was greeted by the firms friendly receptionist who then transfered me to William. He was very understanding and paid close attention to every little detail. He invited me to his office for a no-charge consultation (Which is almost unheard for an attorney of this skill level.) and immediately helped to put my mind at ease and explained the consequences of any possible convictions of Domestic Violence. I retained him and he went to work right away, and after about 2 months of aggressive Pre-trial negotiation, he was able to convince the prosecutor to reduce the charge (She was originally planning to take me to trial and have me convicted on the very serious charge and did not want to budge.) This attorney essentially saved my life.

This lawyer does not listen to his client. He is rude. He does not return phone calls. His work is of poor quality. He does not pay attention to detail. Run away.

He's very hardworking, dependable, reliable, and he doesn't "beat around the bush". He will work hard for you and has reasonable fees including, many times, a client's favorite type of retainer: a flat retainer. He'll estimate the costs and it will be one fee and he will even make concessions sometimes to split payments, although that's never guaranteed. He is a reasonable man, though, and a good lawyer. If you need a criminal defense lawyer or appellate lawyer, he's the man for the job.

What a Criminal Defense Lawyer Can Do for You

A criminal defense lawyer provides legal representation to individuals or organizations accused of criminal conduct. If you're facing criminal charges, a defense lawyer will work to protect your rights, build a defense strategy, and ensure you receive a fair trial. Their primary goal is to reduce or dismiss charges, secure an acquittal, or negotiate a favorable plea deal.

Criminal defense lawyers have extensive knowledge of criminal law and court procedures. They investigate your case, identify weaknesses in the prosecution's evidence, and represent you in court, ensuring that you have the best possible defense.

When Should I Hire a Criminal Defense Lawyer?

It’s crucial to hire a criminal defense lawyer as soon as possible if you are facing any criminal charges. Some situations in which you should seek legal representation include:

  • Arrest or police questioning: If you've been arrested or are under investigation, hiring a lawyer early on can prevent self-incrimination and protect your rights during police questioning.
  • Felony charges: Crimes such as murder, assault, drug trafficking, or robbery carry severe penalties, including long prison sentences. A defense lawyer is essential in these cases.
  • Misdemeanor charges: Even for less serious offenses like DUI, theft, or simple assault, a lawyer can help reduce penalties, negotiate alternatives to jail, or get charges dismissed.
  • Plea negotiations: If you’re considering a plea bargain, a lawyer can evaluate the deal, advise you on its consequences, and negotiate for more favorable terms.
  • Probation or parole violations: If you’ve been accused of violating probation or parole, a lawyer can defend you against additional penalties or revocation.
  • Juvenile offenses: For minors charged with criminal acts, a criminal defense lawyer can protect their future by minimizing legal repercussions or keeping the case in juvenile court.

What Does a Criminal Defense Lawyer Do?

Criminal defense lawyers provide comprehensive legal services to protect their clients’ rights throughout the criminal justice process. Their duties include:

  • Case evaluation and investigation: Reviewing the evidence, interviewing witnesses, and investigating the facts to develop a strong defense strategy.
  • Legal advice: Advising you on your rights, the charges you’re facing, and potential defense strategies, including whether to take a plea deal or go to trial.
  • Negotiating plea bargains: Working with prosecutors to negotiate a plea deal that could reduce charges or minimize penalties.
  • Court representation: Representing you in all court hearings, including bail hearings, pretrial motions, trials, and sentencing hearings.
  • Filing motions: Filing motions to dismiss charges, suppress evidence, or reduce bail, depending on the specifics of your case.
  • Trial preparation and defense: Preparing a defense strategy and presenting arguments, evidence, and witnesses during trial to contest the prosecution's case.
  • Appeals: If you are convicted, a defense lawyer can appeal the conviction or sentence, arguing errors in the trial process or legal rulings.

How Are Criminal Defense Lawyers Paid?

Criminal defense lawyers generally charge clients in one of three ways, depending on the complexity of the case and the lawyer’s experience. Payment structures include:

  • Flat fee: For straightforward cases (e.g., minor misdemeanors), some lawyers charge a one-time flat fee that covers all aspects of the defense.
  • Hourly rate: For more complex or ongoing cases, lawyers may charge by the hour, with rates varying based on the lawyer’s experience and geographic location.
  • Retainer fee: In cases where extensive work is expected, the client may pay a retainer fee upfront. The lawyer then bills against that retainer for their work on the case.

The cost of criminal defense services can vary greatly, so it’s important to discuss fees during your initial consultation.

How Much Does a Criminal Defense Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a criminal defense lawyer depends on several factors, including the severity of the charges, the complexity of the case, and the lawyer’s experience. General cost guidelines are:

  • Misdemeanor cases: For relatively minor offenses, such as a DUI or petty theft, a flat fee may range from $1,500 to $5,000.
  • Felony cases: More serious charges, such as assault or drug trafficking, can range from $10,000 to $100,000 or more, depending on the complexity and duration of the case.
  • Hourly rates: For cases billed by the hour, lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on their expertise and the case's location.
  • Additional expenses: You may also be responsible for other costs, such as filing fees, expert witness fees, or the cost of private investigators.

Be sure to clarify the lawyer’s fee structure and any potential additional costs during your consultation.

Top Questions to Ask a Criminal Defense Lawyer

Before hiring a criminal defense lawyer, you’ll want to ensure that they’re a good fit for your case. Here are key questions to ask:

  1. What is your experience with cases like mine?
Make sure the lawyer has a strong track record with the specific type of criminal charges you’re facing, whether it’s DUI, drug offenses, or violent crimes.
  2. What is your fee structure?
Ask how the lawyer charges for their services and whether you’ll be responsible for any additional costs.
  3. What are the potential outcomes of my case?
A good lawyer should provide an honest assessment of your case and the likelihood of dismissal, a plea bargain, or conviction.
  4. How many cases have you taken to trial?
While many criminal cases settle with a plea deal, it’s important to hire a lawyer with courtroom experience in case your case goes to trial.
  5. Who will handle my case?
Ask if the lawyer will be personally involved or if other attorneys in the firm will handle most of the work.
  6. How do you communicate with your clients?
Be clear on how often and through what channels you can expect updates on your case.

How to Check the Credibility of a Criminal Defense Lawyer

To verify the credibility of a criminal defense lawyer, take the following steps:

  • Check their standing with the state bar: Confirm that the lawyer is licensed and in good standing with your state’s bar association. Look for any past disciplinary actions or complaints.
  • Read online reviews and testimonials: Platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google can provide insights from previous clients about the lawyer’s communication, professionalism, and case outcomes.
  • Ask for references: A reputable lawyer should have past clients or other professionals who can speak to their competence and work ethic.
  • Review their case history: Look at the lawyer’s website or professional profile to see their experience with criminal cases, including high-profile or complex cases.
  • Look for trial experience: If your case might go to trial, make sure the lawyer has a strong history of courtroom advocacy and success.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your first consultation with a criminal defense lawyer, bring the following:

  • Details of your case: Be prepared to provide a detailed account of the charges against you, including any documents related to your arrest, police reports, and court dates.
  • Criminal history: If you have any prior criminal convictions, inform your lawyer so they can understand how that may affect your current case.
  • List of witnesses or evidence: If there are any potential witnesses or evidence that may support your defense, share this information during the consultation.
  • Questions for the lawyer: Prepare questions about their experience, legal strategy, and fees to ensure you understand how they will handle your case.
  • Bail or release documents: If you’ve been released on bail, bring any paperwork related to your release conditions or restrictions.

By being well-prepared, you can help your lawyer quickly assess your situation and begin building an effective defense strategy.
