Would not recommend, he up and withdrew from my husbands case without even informing him he was going to do that. He made it seem like he was working for him telling my husband he was doing one thing and the next minute he is off the case leaving my husband to have to start the process all over again. My husband never asked him to withdraw. I don't normally give reviews, but this just really upset both my husband and I.

Kevin and Ronda square will let you down! Never answered phone calls and tried to made you feel like you shouldn’t even be calling! Got me a felony on possession of paraphernalia. Then forced me to take the charge with some excuse about his time and that he would expunge it in a year. After a year, told me to get another lawyer , not him, one that made the promise. Don’t waist your time or your money or your peace of mind!

Divorce creates a flurry of emotions, mixed with "advice" from friends and family who all have their "well this is what I did in my divorce...and you should do X, Y or Z...." Tiffany reduces this into logical thinking. She doesn't tell you what you want to hear, but tells you what it is based on law and experience. False promises and unreasonable expectations are checked at the door. A biggest fear that people will tell you is that the "attorney just wants to keep fighting to make more money" Each case is different, and you want someone who knows the law and is realistic and direct about your case. You want Tiffany on your side.

I live in Minnesota and my ex moved with my two kids in Wisconsin she does not want me to see my kids because of sexual misconduct charge she press on me for being innocent after probation of 7 years. The charged was dismissed and dropped leading to sponged my record but still Minnesota wouldn't give me permission to see my kids because my ex was making up stories against me . I took about 3 lawyer in Minnesota and they all failed for me to even have supervise visitation. My case was later transferred to Wisconsin because the kids are living in Wisconsin. I took this lawyer to take a last chance in my life trying to see my kids she was my 3rd lawyer . Tiffany is wonderful and very patient so much technique ,she does not panic in court room. i don't know how to describe her but she is very caring lawyer. we all know money pay our bill but among my lawyer she doesn't put money first meaning she is not on your neck for money before finishing your case and after taking a retainer fee . like that it make me pay her and happy to continue with her . after 7 years i will see my son because of Tiffany schramm wh won on my case after 7 yeas. she took 4 month to finish this case. Listening to her was the best. she is always ready to give you advice. I noticed from her when judge give her permission to talk ,every word coming from her mouth has some kind of explanation of why and how . She make sure she know your case before going to see the judge. GOD BLESSS you and have more case to free innocent people

Having never been in this position before, I felt very vulnerable and unsure. I wanted what was best for me, but I also didn’t want to break the bank in the process. Tiffany took away all the worry, broke down the big, scary jargon and put all the possibilities on the table. She told me what her goal was and she accomplished it, with the best outcome possible! She was very patient with me, always returned my countless emails and phone calls within hours or a day. She was a miracle worker and absorbed a lot of my stress. Organized, professional and compassionate are just a few words I’d use to describe Tiffany. I highly suggest her services for anyone trying to resolve misdemeanor matters.

Through my job I qualify for a free 30 minute consultation with a lawyer. I was referred to Michael Lim. Michael called me before he needed to go into court, and chose to talk to me over the phone for maybe 15 minutes. I'm new with talking to a lawyer so I wasn't sure where to begin. I didn't have a lot of time to go over much of what is going on with my situation, most of my questions or contact information for people involved. To make a long story short, Michael was very fast to dismiss me and gave me very little advice. I guess it is because it was a free consultation. Maybe if you have a lot of money and are not displaced from your home causing you to be behind on bills due to weekly motel fees, there might be potential that you will be treated as a person with feelings. Maybe if he is getting paid he would want to make time to help you instead of making you feel inadequate, stupid or like a burden. It is a shame that some people care more about money than what they can do to make a difference. Since Christmas night I have been struggling. None of the things going on are my fault. Thankfully I qualify to be referred to a new lawyer. I just hope this new one cares and is compassionate. I do not recommend Michael Lim to anyone, especially if you are poor.

Michael Lim helped us navigate a challenging case regarding a plaintiff against us. Michael was strategic in his deliberations that resulted in a successful outcome. He outlined his strategy with us in advance and met us to review the background and the pending court appearances. He outlined multiple levels of strategy that could be invoked depending on the developments in the trial. We felt very confident with his representation and would not hesitate to retain his services again if needed. He was professional in the court room environment and clearly expressed the legal parameters of the case. In summary, we could not have asked for a better legal representative for our case.

I allowed him to represent me 2 days into trial before relieving him of his dutys to represent myself. As an attorney he failed in the worst way , if not for my having a basic understanding of what an attorney is suppose to do I would be serving a forty year sentence. If outcomes matter to you shop around a little more.

I am very late writing this review, as my divorce was a few years ago, but I wish I had never hired Ms. Arreazola. I was served with contempt papers because my spouse's lawyer had sent messages to the Arreazola office about things wanted out of the house belonging to spouse. I was NEVER notified. I found out after I fired her and picked up all correspondence pertaining to the proceedings. I called her very upset one day when my spouse was banging on the door and wouldn't leave and she never called me back. I was stuck with bills that should have been split between my spouse and me, but she never did anything with the paperwork I provided showing the amounts and what they were for and it was over $3,000 dollars. She did very little for the retainer paid, and I had to pay the same retainer to the next attorney. Would have saved me a lot to have chosen this attorney the first time instead of Patricia Arreazola.

This was the best thing I could have ever done by hiring such an excellent and compassionate attorney to deal with my ongoing divorce challenges. My initial attorney was not so good, to put it lightly. So I have had to go back and have adjustments made to do with contempt motions and child custody. I can’t say enough about the people at Arrezola Law. They took this on, corrected the issues I thought were completely hopeless in my divorce, and made the outcome for my children and myself much happier. They thoroughly explained everything to me and treated me with kindness and compassion throughout the whole process. I wish I had hired them at the beginning, because I feel these challenges would have never have come up. I can’t thank them enough. Well worth every penny!!!!

Best lawyer I’ve had! Represented me on a case where crooked police charged me with a gun I’ve never seen before. At our initial meeting she believed me! Which was a huge relief because my previous lawyer (Mark Pecora) suggested I take a plea!! Ann went to trial and fought for me like it was her freedom in the line! She shed tears, even almost got held in contempt! I had five police lying in me in court! Five! Four officers & a sergeant (all no longer officers, felons now) coming to court lying. Well she went in there and beat the case!! Very passionate about her work and will fight for her clients.

She (Anne Bowe) told me that if my son didn't take the D.A. offer of 15 years then she would drop him (my son) as a client and testify against him. So, I would advise anyone not to hire her at all.

I hired this attorney to help me with a class a misdemeanor that I was facing. He was able to get me into probation vs going to jail and that is exactly what I wanted him to do. While on probation my po officer told me I couldn't go on vacation but I remembered Joe telling me to call him with any questions or concerned. Sure enough, he assured me he would do what he could to make things possible. Sure enough he went back to court with me and got my probation rules lifted for me to go! He really made me feel like he was looking for my best interest 100%.

I was arrested & charged for a crime (misdemeanor) i did not commit. I was all excited to fight it and bring out the truth. And then I was appointed Mr. Hildebrand by the court because I could not afford an attorney. His services as a lawyer are worthless. This was the first time I got in trouble and people say public defenders are a joke. He is worse. It's no joke when your fate is in the hands of someone that doesn't care. He missed our first hearing, he spoke very fast and was impatient. He wanted me to plead guilty and take a deal to serve time in jail and probation, didn't care to hear what I wanted to do nor did he belive I was innocent, didn't care, wanted to hurry and finish our meeting after court.. - this was before he looked at the evidence... I was losing sleep thinking that I actually may be charged and have my record reuined. I finally talked to the da who was a lot of help, more than my attorney. And ended up getting a deferred prosecution. Basically I was able to just check in with the da every month, and not have any negative police contact for a year and the charges were thrown out after a year.

I hired Mr. Klein after my first attorney failed to prepare for a court hearing and left me to pick up the pieces of a decision so wrong it does not bear repeating. Attorney Klein was straightforward from day one. He did not pull punches. He told me, in exact detail, what I had to do and what he was going to do. He never sugar coated that we had an uphill battle, but not for one second did I doubt he was in the battle with me. I don't need my attorney to pat my head and tell me warm fuzzy stories and give me hugs, I have friends for that. I don't need to walk out of my attorney's office feeling like I just had lunch with my best friend. I need to know, without a doubt, the attorney I hired is on my side 100% and is going to fight with me and for me. I have that with Mr. Klein. His professional staff is prompt and courteous; I have never had to wait days/weeks for a returned call. I know they see this stuff every day, but I never have been made to feel it didn't matter. I have nothing, but respect for Mr. Klein and his staff and would readily suggest his practice to anyone. When I sought a lawyer for my case, I first spoke to a few highly accredited Ivy League lawyers from Madison, and while I was tempted to go with them, they suggested that it might be worth looking into someone local to make things easier on my end. As my family had used the services of Klein’s firm in the past, I decided to seek the counsel of Klein, who asked for a retainer that was twice the amount quoted by the aforementioned lawyers- with travel fees factored in. Now I do not know exactly what it was that he took issue with in me. If I am simply being sensitive, or if it was the details of my case, my age, my race, or just that he did not like the fact that I asked him questions and took notes at our meetings, but he clearly made an effort to be unprofessional in our dealings. Perhaps Klein’s representation can be summarized in a defining phone conversation we had AFTER I had paid him a retainer. I had never personally hired a lawyer before, so I understandably had a few questions about the financial aspects of my case, as well as wanting to go over a few details of my case with my lawyer. After I asked Klein a couple questions about the difference between out-of-pocket expenses and court-fees, he snapped. “What is this, twenty questions?” he yelled into the phone. “You’re wasting my time!” This was funny, coming from a man for whose time I was paying hundreds of dollars for even in this phone conversation alone. He seemed just barely able to restrain himself from cursing at me as he tried to convince me to drop him as a lawyer after I tried to explain that the retainer I paid for was a fair amount for me, and that I just wanted to make sure I understood both the case, and wanted to go over details on expenses: “If you think X dollars is a lot of money, then just come here, and I’ll cut you a… stinking check for X dollars! Stop wasting my time!” This was followed by a few snide remarks (nothing unexpected) directed at me. “I thought you went to college,” he yelled. “You should be grateful for what I did for you,” he yelled, referring to the deal made with the DA, as if this was some pro-bono case where he did this simply out of the goodness of his heart. I mean, it was not like he was paid for his legal work or anything…Of course, the condescension didn’t stop there. After he was finished with his tirade, I calmly asked why he was angry. His response was that he wasn’t angry, but that I should “Come here and I’ll cut you a check for your lousy X dollars, and you can go represent yourself. If it’s so much money to you, good luck!” This was all because I asked him if a court stenographer (which he recommended for my case) would be covered by the retainer. “No,” was all the answer I got. Wanting to know a bit more, I just asked “Isn’t that considered a legal fee?” He replied briskly: “No,” again offering no elaboration. Not left with too many options due to his monosyllable answers, I asked “Why not”. He simply said “It’s an out of pocket expense.” So I asked him what the difference was, setting him off, because apparently college graduates shouldn’t ask questions, as they should be grateful for overpaid, grumpy lawyers. I tried to politely explain to him that I was only asking him these questions as I simply wanted to clarify details about the use of finances, to which he replied “If a stenographer is so expensive to you, then get a job or something. If it’s a financial problem, then it’s your problem, not mine!” In what situation is it ever okay to be that condescending to a client, and to make implicit insults directed at their intelligence, education, or financial situation? And one final point. If you are looking for a lawyer that can return your emails (which some find crucial in this day and age), forget it. Klein does not respond to emails. In fact, Klein does not even have an email, and refuses to use one. At least that was what he said in our dealings.

Also i had left a message for him to discharge himself as my lawyer , I wanted a public defender,, He claimed not to get this phone call. I felt I was being prosecuted not only by the courts , but him also..My record was clean very clean and in my 40's i would not decide to break the law. What he did with money was not for me it was clearly to get himself on the courts good side. Do yourself a favor if you are fighting a case in West Bend , get a lawyer from a different city.

After suffering serious injuries due to being the victim of a motorcycle accident, Attorney John O’Connor was recommended to me, and for good reason. John put me at ease with his care, expertise and dedication during one of the most difficult times in my life. He was knowledgeable, efficient and effective, creating a positive outcome for me. I cannot express enough how grateful I am to John and his staff for their help and continued support to me and my family. John O’Connor did an excellent job representing me, has great character, and is a wonderful person. Thank you!

Attorney Kimes is a very friendly and attentive. I liked that he listens, is responsive to your concerns in an empathetic manner. He trulybgets to know you as a person, then addresses your needs in a proper business style. The office is small but furnished with comfortable furniture. I had a small wait before our meeting, but once we met I was allowed to discuss matters without a sense of being rushed through. Thrilled I found this attorney.

Avoid if you can. I absolutely regret using his services. He has an inflated sense of what he is worth, and has no qualms charging a ridiculous amount of money for his very average work(at best). I would give him zero stars if I could.

This Guy “Micheal Winters” was very rude, had no intentions on being any help. I was rushed off the phone and the purpose of getting a consultation is because someone lacks the knowledge, so to knock someone down for trying to get answers is very unreasonable and rude. This man should not be in this business, definitely not a people person.

I have worked with Jay and his associated for some immigration matters and to be frank, it has been one of the worst experiences that I have had with any attorney or firm. On multiple occasions things are sent back since they have used old documents (forms), missed information on a form or not submitted a form or document. When paying the amount of money they is being asked for, it is VERY unfortunate this is the case month after month. When it comes to immigration, I would highly recommend choosing another attorney that will give your case the priority it needs.

I hired Russell Jones because the Shepard Express news paper, a liberal paper, rated him as the best defense lawyer for your money. When I talked to him he sounded very confident in his ability to fight the case. After hiring him , he gave me no idea on what our plan was and every time I called him he never answered. He would only text or call back the day before court. The end result was pushing the court case back for 2 yrs. We even paid him an additional $6,000 to take it to trial, which never happened. Without any guidance from Russell Jones, I basically took matters into my own hand and with the help of my family and other circumstances took the case into a more favorable direction. After sentencing I requested him to ask for an amendment to the judgment. After two weeks of not being able to get a hold of him and having my sister to ask him to meet me. We met with me on video, where he yelled and said he claimed he met his obligation and hung up.

Attorney Jones failed to return all calls and email correspondence. I submitted a letter to the judge in my case and asked Attorney Jones to review it before he submitted it. Either he did and doesn't know that you can't ask a judge to change whatever offer the prosecutor is offering or he didn't read it and submitted it to Court. He made both of us look like idiots in front of the judge. He also refused to try to negotiate with the prosecutor on my plea deal. His answer pretty much is, it is what it is. After immaturely (his actions and communication) withdrawing as Counsel I got a new attorney and everything went great and my more serious charge will soon be dismissed.

Over the 5+ years it took to resolve our minor personal injury case, we found Mr. Pletcher to be docile, indifferent and uncommunicative. He showed no initiative on our behalf. In depositions he was passive at best, quietly allowing us to be bullied by opposing counsel and, later and privately, expressing outrage over such behavior. We felt largely ignored, “out-lawyered”, and poorly represented throughout our relationship. We eventually settled through arbitration, due more to the arbitrator than our attorney. Kenneth might be ok for routine paperwork, but I would never recommend him for potential trial work.

How can you take my money and do NOTHING and then QUIT!??? My case has been dragging for over a year and is still not over because I had to hire another lawyer. Thanks Ken! I hope you feel good taking all the money I’ve been saving and then quit on me!

What a Criminal Defense Lawyer Can Do for You

A criminal defense lawyer provides legal representation to individuals or organizations accused of criminal conduct. If you're facing criminal charges, a defense lawyer will work to protect your rights, build a defense strategy, and ensure you receive a fair trial. Their primary goal is to reduce or dismiss charges, secure an acquittal, or negotiate a favorable plea deal.

Criminal defense lawyers have extensive knowledge of criminal law and court procedures. They investigate your case, identify weaknesses in the prosecution's evidence, and represent you in court, ensuring that you have the best possible defense.

When Should I Hire a Criminal Defense Lawyer?

It’s crucial to hire a criminal defense lawyer as soon as possible if you are facing any criminal charges. Some situations in which you should seek legal representation include:

  • Arrest or police questioning: If you've been arrested or are under investigation, hiring a lawyer early on can prevent self-incrimination and protect your rights during police questioning.
  • Felony charges: Crimes such as murder, assault, drug trafficking, or robbery carry severe penalties, including long prison sentences. A defense lawyer is essential in these cases.
  • Misdemeanor charges: Even for less serious offenses like DUI, theft, or simple assault, a lawyer can help reduce penalties, negotiate alternatives to jail, or get charges dismissed.
  • Plea negotiations: If you’re considering a plea bargain, a lawyer can evaluate the deal, advise you on its consequences, and negotiate for more favorable terms.
  • Probation or parole violations: If you’ve been accused of violating probation or parole, a lawyer can defend you against additional penalties or revocation.
  • Juvenile offenses: For minors charged with criminal acts, a criminal defense lawyer can protect their future by minimizing legal repercussions or keeping the case in juvenile court.

What Does a Criminal Defense Lawyer Do?

Criminal defense lawyers provide comprehensive legal services to protect their clients’ rights throughout the criminal justice process. Their duties include:

  • Case evaluation and investigation: Reviewing the evidence, interviewing witnesses, and investigating the facts to develop a strong defense strategy.
  • Legal advice: Advising you on your rights, the charges you’re facing, and potential defense strategies, including whether to take a plea deal or go to trial.
  • Negotiating plea bargains: Working with prosecutors to negotiate a plea deal that could reduce charges or minimize penalties.
  • Court representation: Representing you in all court hearings, including bail hearings, pretrial motions, trials, and sentencing hearings.
  • Filing motions: Filing motions to dismiss charges, suppress evidence, or reduce bail, depending on the specifics of your case.
  • Trial preparation and defense: Preparing a defense strategy and presenting arguments, evidence, and witnesses during trial to contest the prosecution's case.
  • Appeals: If you are convicted, a defense lawyer can appeal the conviction or sentence, arguing errors in the trial process or legal rulings.

How Are Criminal Defense Lawyers Paid?

Criminal defense lawyers generally charge clients in one of three ways, depending on the complexity of the case and the lawyer’s experience. Payment structures include:

  • Flat fee: For straightforward cases (e.g., minor misdemeanors), some lawyers charge a one-time flat fee that covers all aspects of the defense.
  • Hourly rate: For more complex or ongoing cases, lawyers may charge by the hour, with rates varying based on the lawyer’s experience and geographic location.
  • Retainer fee: In cases where extensive work is expected, the client may pay a retainer fee upfront. The lawyer then bills against that retainer for their work on the case.

The cost of criminal defense services can vary greatly, so it’s important to discuss fees during your initial consultation.

How Much Does a Criminal Defense Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a criminal defense lawyer depends on several factors, including the severity of the charges, the complexity of the case, and the lawyer’s experience. General cost guidelines are:

  • Misdemeanor cases: For relatively minor offenses, such as a DUI or petty theft, a flat fee may range from $1,500 to $5,000.
  • Felony cases: More serious charges, such as assault or drug trafficking, can range from $10,000 to $100,000 or more, depending on the complexity and duration of the case.
  • Hourly rates: For cases billed by the hour, lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on their expertise and the case's location.
  • Additional expenses: You may also be responsible for other costs, such as filing fees, expert witness fees, or the cost of private investigators.

Be sure to clarify the lawyer’s fee structure and any potential additional costs during your consultation.

Top Questions to Ask a Criminal Defense Lawyer

Before hiring a criminal defense lawyer, you’ll want to ensure that they’re a good fit for your case. Here are key questions to ask:

  1. What is your experience with cases like mine?
Make sure the lawyer has a strong track record with the specific type of criminal charges you’re facing, whether it’s DUI, drug offenses, or violent crimes.
  2. What is your fee structure?
Ask how the lawyer charges for their services and whether you’ll be responsible for any additional costs.
  3. What are the potential outcomes of my case?
A good lawyer should provide an honest assessment of your case and the likelihood of dismissal, a plea bargain, or conviction.
  4. How many cases have you taken to trial?
While many criminal cases settle with a plea deal, it’s important to hire a lawyer with courtroom experience in case your case goes to trial.
  5. Who will handle my case?
Ask if the lawyer will be personally involved or if other attorneys in the firm will handle most of the work.
  6. How do you communicate with your clients?
Be clear on how often and through what channels you can expect updates on your case.

How to Check the Credibility of a Criminal Defense Lawyer

To verify the credibility of a criminal defense lawyer, take the following steps:

  • Check their standing with the state bar: Confirm that the lawyer is licensed and in good standing with your state’s bar association. Look for any past disciplinary actions or complaints.
  • Read online reviews and testimonials: Platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google can provide insights from previous clients about the lawyer’s communication, professionalism, and case outcomes.
  • Ask for references: A reputable lawyer should have past clients or other professionals who can speak to their competence and work ethic.
  • Review their case history: Look at the lawyer’s website or professional profile to see their experience with criminal cases, including high-profile or complex cases.
  • Look for trial experience: If your case might go to trial, make sure the lawyer has a strong history of courtroom advocacy and success.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your first consultation with a criminal defense lawyer, bring the following:

  • Details of your case: Be prepared to provide a detailed account of the charges against you, including any documents related to your arrest, police reports, and court dates.
  • Criminal history: If you have any prior criminal convictions, inform your lawyer so they can understand how that may affect your current case.
  • List of witnesses or evidence: If there are any potential witnesses or evidence that may support your defense, share this information during the consultation.
  • Questions for the lawyer: Prepare questions about their experience, legal strategy, and fees to ensure you understand how they will handle your case.
  • Bail or release documents: If you’ve been released on bail, bring any paperwork related to your release conditions or restrictions.

By being well-prepared, you can help your lawyer quickly assess your situation and begin building an effective defense strategy.
