DeCurtins law office is the best defense law firm in charlotte, NC if you ask me. When I spoke with Mr. Brandon DeCurtin about my case he was professional, respectful and compassionate. I am so thankful that I chose Jillian to represent me in my custody case. From consultation, to solidifying a final order by trial Jillian was a strong advocate for my desires and kept the interest of my children at the forefront. Jillian and her firm was very responsive to all my correspondence and operated at a level of excellence that I have grown to expect as a veteran and military professional. Furthermore, she understands the importance of fathers, African American fathers to their children, and was not scared to have the difficult conversation in court with children of both African American and Caucasian parents. Mr. Cloninger met with my son and helped us with a driving matter. He was true to his word (yes that still exists!). He charged a fair price. Probably more than fair to be honest. I am 60 yrs old and This is my first review EVER! But this guy deserves it so here goes Don't even think about it ,just hire him!! This is the guy everyone wants!! I"m from New Jersey and I got a speeding ticket in November 2018, 95MPH in a 65MPH zone ( automatic loss of license)coming back from his wedding,they gave me a court date 4 months later,which I missed .I Got a warrant ,contempt of court, Loss my NC DL priviledges ,loss of NJ DL priviledges, $300.00 fine and still had the ticket! With one phone call to jane and such a super reasonable fee within 1 week Brian got everything dropped all suspensions reversed warrants vacated,fines dropped and original ticket reduced to 74 in a 65 and a minimal fine! He saved me MORE money than I pd him.And I never met him and he fought like a tiger, him and Jane treated me like family the whole time! I tried to tip him and the staff but he refused, So this will be my first and last review ever, my words to the world is "5 stars isn't high enough" for Brian cloninger just hire him don't hesitate

When I got my first dwi, I didn’t know how bad it was about to be. I quickly started to look for the best attorney and Mr Keith Rouse caught my attention. After I sat down with Mr Rouse, I felt better knowing we would try and fight this.
After about 9 months, I walked out of the courtroom with a second chance. Mr. Rouse got my case reduced down to a careless and reckless and was able to keep my liscense. I can’t thank Mr. Rouse enough and would recommend him to anyone.

I first met Keith Rouse when he became my lawyer in 2013 when i was facing numerous felony charges and i couldnt be more pleased with the outcome of my case. Keith Rouse is well respected in the courtroom by the judges, D.A's, and his defendants and believe me when i tell you that that is VERY IMPORTANT. Courtney went above and beyond to help my son with his child visitation case. She came in on her day off , during pandemic when the opposing counsel pulled a shady court order. She immediately handled the situation and with good results. My son's case was a tough case and ended with good results without even having to go to trial. She is worth every penny and then some. When I made the decision to modify custody for my daughter I knew it was going to take a GREAT attorney to make it happen. I was told Courtney Hull was the woman I wanted, and boy was that information correct! I can't begin to put into words how lucky I feel to have been represented by Ashley Smith in my divorce and custody case. Ashley cares about her clients and during what was easily the scariest and most difficult time in my life, I was able to focus on what mattered, protecting my 7 yr old daughter, myself, work, and keeping a straight head knowing I had Ashley on my side to quickly navigate and provide outstanding advise during a chaotic time. She believed in me and was always available and immediately got back to me the numerous times I had to contact her. I was prepared most importantly for the 2 times we had to go in front of a judge and was calm on the stand because I listened to Ashley's advise. I cannot say enough about Ms. Ashley Smith. She is the eye of the storm. The part in the middle that is calm and stable while there is chaos spinning all around. Some of us, like me show up in her office vulnerable, clueless, scared, hopeless the list goes on. Ashley is not your therapist nor is she going to tell you everything will be fine but what she will do is listen, focus, instruct, compile, answer every single question, guide you. She will only reach out if she has to. Be patient because I can assure you she is working thoroughly on your case. I put all of my trust and fate in her hands and it was not easy. I am a resident of another state and Theresa Viera represented me in a case in North Carolina. I was unfamiliar with various antiquated laws in N.C. I found Alex by chance, and I couldn't be more pleased. My now husband and my two boys wanted to make it official and do an adoption. My ex was making it hard to do, even though he had not been in there lives for over 12 years and no child support. Alex didn't give up. He fought for us and got it done. The adoption is official. I had hired another lawyer, but replaced him as soon as I spoke with Mr. Little. James didn’t over promise, but gave me confidence he knew the anxiety this matter was causing, and the hope that he would have it dismissed entirely. He talked to me like a person, not a case file. They will treat you like mushrooms. DO NOT USE THIS FIRM, THEY WILL SCREW YOU. They are con artists. They will make claims of what they can do and will not fulfill. Made claims of “we can” re-litigate previous trials, record being expunged, rights being restored, resigned from the case before doing so and did not argue anything at a review hearing due to who the judge was, which was a recent ADA during my case. That is a conflict . They will side with the prosecution to where it makes no sense and mind screws you. I offered to write down events prior of trial date for evidence and he denied it, “it’ll be okay” he claimed. They will inform you of a plea bargain they’ve been working on last minute of offering you a bargain so you can not find counsel elsewhere. Claimed the victim’s untruthfulness was irrelevant, but yet I was prosecuted to her untruthful claims. The State knew of her criminal acts and they did not report it to the Court, nor did my attorney inform the Court of the State’s misconduct, negligence and criminal accessory. Claimed he did his job by keeping me out of jail while completely sacrificing my criminal record with something I’m not even guilty of and is not eligible for an expungement.

I approached the Law Office of Kelli Allen in about February of this year ( 2023) to help me submit my Green Card Application. I was assigned to Berna Chacon- a bilingual specialist in data accumulation for Green Card submissions. Thank G-d I was. She was absolutely outstanding. I mean truly- it took me a while to accumulate the necessary data ( necessary being whatever Berna told me to put together) and we submitted my application in June of this year. Today is November 24, 2023, and guess what- I have my Green Card Truly great work by Berna -what a help she was! I couldnt have done it so seamlessly without her!. This law office is completely unequipped to handle modern employment law cases. The attorney was shockingly uneducated on clear-cut workplace retaliation, ADA violations, HIPAA privacy breaches, and discrimination law. Instead of recognizing textbook legal violations, he was dismissive, condescending, and gaslighting—forcing me to explain basic legal concepts, only to victim shame me for staying in a job where I was financially and medically trapped.
Rather than advocating for employee rights, he made me justify my own case, despite having prepared over 500 pages of documentation and proof of clear violations, retaliation, and systemic discrimination—questioning clear ADA noncompliance and disability discrimination. I even had to explicitly explain how multiple diagnoses and conditions are legally protected, and he still failed to recognize obvious retaliation. He clearly does not understand modern workplace environments or employment law beyond the most basic level.
On top of that, I was financially and physically displaced due to a Hurricane Helene, another concept that didn’t warrant even the slightest bit of compassion or understanding from him.
I came in for a consultation prepared to pay $400 for solid legal advice but ended up wasting my time repeating myself, trying to explain the nature of modern remote work environments, cloud computing, and corporate tech consulting. He should have paid me for educating him on these concepts—even though I doubt he remembered anything that was discussed after I left the room.
If you are looking for a lawyer who is compassionate, understands nuance, and is actually familiar with employment law from this century, look elsewhere. You should not have to repeat yourself multiple times, be further gaslit, or feel more exhausted after a legal consultation than you did before it.
The lack of competence extends beyond legal matters. If you expect a law office that at least knows how to update their own Google business listing, provide clear office directions, or even put up a sign so clients can find them, you’ll be disappointed there too. If they can’t even manage basic business operations, how can they be trusted with a complex legal case?
Do not waste your time.

Be careful of pushy advice to do an emergency custody hearing based on Ann Margaret Alexander's opinions and high fee which she earns with every outcome. Be aware that these hearings are very quick and may be based on falsified documents with no time to make an actual case and she will push to settle and acquiesce under pressure and collude with the other attorney. She makes a lot of money on these quick hearings and doesn't do her clients justice. It's amazing how her opinions change drastically after the hearing- an abusive parent is no longer abusive just the alpha parent (after she collects her fees). Also, be aware that these emergency custody hearings, if there is unfavorable outcome, will ruin any changes of a permanent custody change in the future. Do your research and homework in these situations!

I hired Leitner, Bragg & Griffin for a family case, and it was one of the worst experiences I ever had. After meeting with the attorney, Griffin she promised to defend me vigorously. After paying my fees and leaving her office, it was very difficult to get in touch with her. I made numerous calls with no reply. A few days before court, she responded, asking for documents that would take weeks to obtain.
After the court proceedings, she stated that the result was because we didn't have the proper documents in my case. Which she waiting the last minute to try and obtain. Dealing with her in my case has cost me more stress than the case itself. So,please be aware of her big speech because that is what she does in order to win you over to get your money with a minimum representation.
