I wouldn`t recommend to work with Lidia as long as she has a very poor customer service. Sometimes she was very rude over the phone talking to me. She couldn`t get time to call adjuster from other insurance for over 3 month and every time was finding new excuses. I guess my case wasn`t valuable enough for her. I will never use her services again.

Ok I was going trough a divorce filling. The case was failed against me and marriage, custody, child support, spousal support, property split all was at stake. I was looking for the local lawyers and first one I found was a completely different type. He was knowledgeable but very aggressive. His fees were never disclosed and happened to be a way high. He was pushing for a trial with very uncertain perspectives considering a luck of desire from my now ex-spouse to cooperate. Frustrated I came to Lidia. She offered a very different approach. She suggested to negotiate with my spouse and explained how can the matter be solved in a peaceful way. She told me that most of the people who go trough a divorce do eventually agree on something and it is a way better to pursue this approach from the start as every hour of a trial will cost a fortune. Even it represented a certain risk I agreed with her. It happened to be that this strategy worked. Negotiations were not easy but with Lidia help I was able to show what is guaranteed to me by law and could not be disputed. Eventually me and my now ex spouse agreed and we managed to divorce without a trial. I got a great deal on custody. My child support payment were determined by the state law. All other things been resolved by the mutual agreement that satisfied us both. Lidia fees were more than reasonable. She did a lot of work. Answered all my phone calls and responded to millions of my emails. Also she made multiple changes in the initial agreement to satisfy my ex-spouse demands. Not to say that at the moment I hired her my paperwork was very much messed up by the previous lawyer and Lidia and her stuff had to do a lot of additional work to bring things in order. Overall I am more than happy about my experience and would recommend Lidia to everyone. Be afraid of lawyers who do not disclose their fees and push you too much for the trial. Trial is a costly process and very good for lawyers. Not for you. But Lidia is very upfront about the cost and she was always advising the most economically sound solution. Do not know how to express how much thankful I am to her.

I used B&T for a business aquisition recently. Specifically Aaron Hollis was my attorney. He was very responsive, no matter the time or day. Very knowledgable with the most efficient and fastest way to get things done. He reviewed all of my documentation and made recommendations for changes. I couldn't ask for a better business attorney through this process. Thank you.

My biggest regret is that I did not have John representing me from the beginning of my custody case. John encompassed everything you would expect from an extraordinary lawyer and represented me to the greatest of expectations. He was clear and concise with advising me, and his communication was excellent. He was very responsive and strategic in handling any situation that arose from my case. He was truly invested into my case and brought results that I could not get from anyone else. Highly recommend attorney John M. Schaffranek!

I highly recommend Dawn as a family lawyer. She is honest, direct, and incredibly collaborative. Throughout my experience, she consistently aimed to achieve the best outcome for everyone involved. Her willingness to work with all parties to find optimal solutions created a sense of security in the midst of processes that can feel really out-of-control. If you need a family lawyer who is willing to be honest with you about likely outcomes so that you do not waste time and money, but is also willing to fight hard for things that you are deserving of, Dawn is the one to choose.

Caprice Hicks-Bunting has been a great advocate for my family and most importantly my child during our custody case. She has been knowledgeable, and has been very caring, understanding and down to earth. She is a great attorney who knows her stuff, and genuinely cares about her clients, and the children involved more than just making a dollar off of her clients. She knows just what to file when, when to object or request on your behalf, she is aggressive at the right times. I highly recommend her.

Caprice Hicks Bunting is a no nonsense attorney who gets the job done ! She was involved in a custody case for our family and did an excellent job. Being in Lancaster County and also being a male wanting shared custody is an uphill battle which she handled with ease. She did this while charging a reasonable price. If you want a lot of fluff and a fancy office don't bother calling but if you want a tiger by your side who does what she says she will then this is the attorney to contact. Hoping not to need her anytime soon but if we do she will be the one we will be calling .

My letter to Joseph, still waiting on a repsonse from him: Dear Joseph, I wish to express my concerns about your last representation. In no way am I upset about the outcome of the recent custody conciliation. What I am very disappointed in is the total lack of guidance you had offered me when I had presented at your office in January. As a matter of fact, we never truly discussed the current situation in your office prior to the conciliation paperwork even being completed. I truly believe that had you took the time to go through my documents with me, and properly guided me as to the criteria for the request I was making, that we would have reached the same recommendation back in January that I am facing now. I know that there are no guarantees in legal proceedings. I do expect proper guidance and representation a month before the fact when I present for it and not in a quick twenty minutes just before the custody conciliation is to take place and be left to defend myself. I view these circumstances as unprofessional conduct and expect more from such an honored attorney. It is therefore I believe I should be entitled to reimbursement for some of the legal fees I have incurred. These proceedings could have been timed more effectively had you given this matter the attention it deserved for the fees I have submitted for your time and services. .....In short, Joseph didn't have the time for the prior consult I scheduled with him and he just took my check and filed the papers without knowing a single fact. Once we did talk just twenty minutes before the conciliation (a month later), it was all so clear that Joseph initiated the action way to fast and just blew my time and money which was completely avoidable had he done things in the correct order. Why any lawyer would file a case before talking to his client is just beyond me????? I will be finding a new attorney..................

I cannot believe anyone would have something good to say about this most incompetent, lying, narcissistic lawyer. She is a master at wasting people's time and answering questions without really answering the questions. All she cares about is money and once she gets it and you have run yourself ragged doing the legwork she should have done, you will see that she has done nothing at all! She has no compassion and the topper is she has convinced herself she knows what she is doing. I would have been better off representing myself! DO NOT HIRE THIS INCOMPETENT LIAR!!!! Denise Ward - 3 and a half year client with not one single thing to show for it except a depleted bank account of $15,000 plus all the cost of everything she was supposed to do!!! She actually called months after my hearing in custody just to see how we were doing!! Who does that? Not only is she a competant lawyer she is a very great human being. Misplaced case info. did not move in a direction to help my child who was harmed, abused. She questioned me and kept saying claims made by my child did not make since. She kept inflating charges billing. She threatened to tell the judge, she had to drop me as a client for non payment. I gave her all I had. This woman as my lawyer, was no help, to a domestic violence survivor. She acted unethically. I chose this woman because she is Chair on the Philly Bar Association. Wrong choice. Not a good burromitor of her work. The case file was empty when I sought to retrieve my docs to give to my new atty and retain for my record. Why would she Elaine dissolve key info on an active case. I handed stacks of docs to her. Don't use Elaine. One truthful customer complaint with painful consequence is enough. Child best interest, with violence not focused too much risk. It appears there is another complaint. Similar actions. Over billing. Bully behavior, minimal result. Oppositional, not compassionate. I paid Elaine a huge retainer. She kept seeking more money.

If not for Mr Samuel Stretton several years ago I wouldn’t even be here today to write this review. Now today 16 years later I am hiring him again to represent my sister and I in an upcoming pending matter. Trust, integrity, loyalty, honesty and expertise is just a few of the endless description words I can use to describe this attorney. He’s like a real life super hero out of a movie and works tirelessly to provide his clients with the best legal representation imaginable. In all my years I can honestly say I’ve never seen a trial lawyer as amazing as he is and I’ve never met an attorney that even comes close to matching his experience and expertise in a court of law. Every day I get to wake up and appreciate the time I have with my family because of this man Samuel C Stretton. He’s more than an attorney he’s like family. If you need to win your case and want the very best the state of Pennsylvania has to offer well look no further! Thankyou for everything Mr Stretton especially for saving my life.

Brett J. Zeitlin panders to mothers in domestic court. If you find yourself in the unfortune position of his guy representing you against your child's mother, consider yourself without a lawyer, he will help your child's mother and leave you high and dry. I got Zeitlin thru my employment, after I initially saw how he was misrepresenting me, I asked to get another lawyer from the firm he's at. The firm refused to give me another lawyer, I spoke with his supervisor, got no satisfaction. Attempted to change to another lawyer, four times. He was horrible with my divorce. He barely fought for a custody battle between my girlfriend and her abusive, mentally sick, and drug addicted ex. He refused to look at any pictures of my girlfriend when she was beat up by him, allowed the other lawyers to take over the conversations in court proceedings, and didn’t make any changes fo the court agreement when her ex missed TWO drug tests and failed ONE. He passed one drug test after three failed attempts and now, with ZERO concern about his mental health and well-being, he is allowed to have her unsupervised. Katz is allowing a four year older girl to spend time with a mentally unstable, manipulative man who has been in and out of prison and rehab multiple times, with little care or concern. He was hired to make sure her ex stays clean and gets the help he needs. He didn’t do anything on the three failed attempts at a drug test. He’s spineless, careless, and overall, useless.

Negative reviews aren’t my thing. However this is just ridiculous. I hired Katz 3 years ago, for a custody case that I already filed for. As time went on he insisted I forfeit some of my time in favor of the mother; who was agreeing to just end the whole thing and continue what we did for 11 years without the courts. Katz reasoning was I might possibly have to forfeit time in the remaining years of our sons childhood (which was 5 years). Needless to say I dropped the case anyway, retained my 50/50 and everything’s been golden. What receives this negative review is him avoiding my calls over the past 3 years to finish an overdue divorce which she filed during the custody battle. He advised I not sign a paper and if need be sign it a month later. 3 years pass and every few months I call to see if we can do anything. Talked to him once and I offered to pay double. He said money wasn’t an issue and would call me back. Never did. I call back, no answer, no reply. I wait it out try again in a few months and no answer, no replies, nothing. I left another voicemail saying I’d pay whatever he needs. Same old, same old. So I’m stuck in limbo until this divorce case expires. Waiting to adopt another son from a guy that’s practically begging me to. And this review is literally my only option left. Do not hire Katz!

Victor let my family and I know that the bullying we were experiencing would stop. He protected my very young family from years of abuse. We never had to linger and wonder what was going on. Victor kept us well informed of the process and guided us through it all. He was precise, deliberate, and decisive. We were able to successfully keep my daughter because of Victor. I then had an emergency custody petition at motions court which i found out the day of and had to go represent myself because he could not attend due to an appointment. He then tried to get me to agree to a nominal amount in settlement which i declined. Once my divorce was over there was an order for my QDRO draft to be completed within a couple of months and Attorney Vouga took 6-7 momths. If you looking for minimal to no communication, excuses, long delays and lots of attorney fees, Attorney Vouga is your man.

Peasley charged me over $30,000. Forced me to sign a divorce settlement agreement, behind closed doors. The agreement was dated incorrectly and notarized without the notary having witnessed my signature. The MSA was never filed. Peasley entered me into a child custody agreement (never filed) without my consent and charged me billable hours. Child support was based on joint custody, but my child resided only with me his entire life. Peasley did not specify any amount of my settlement which constituted child support. She told me she was retiring and may not be able to finish my case and then withdrew as my attorney immediately after settlement, leaving me and my minor son unrepresented, broke and disadvantaged. When I last saw her to retrieve my disorganized and partial files, Peasley was consulting with a new client. Certainly not retired. This attorney is not a family law attorney, as she did not represent me or my son to the best of her ability.

Nick is a terrible human being. He willingly entered into a relationship with a married young woman with two children while being married himself. Maryann acted like my daughter-in-law‘s divorce attorney not for the benefit of those children. Since then we had to go to family court multiple times because the mother and her boyfriend are unfit. The children was choked and my granddaughter who was 6 dragged across the floor by her boyfriend. Maryann even talked crap behind my son and my back and it got back to us. . How can this person be an advocate for minor children? There needs to be an investigation on this advocates motives. Since we wasted so much time with her incompetence ..the children were thrown out along with the mother without enough notice to get their belongings from the boyfriend due to the mother cheating among other things. This advocate sure did get this one wrong! Now the children are where they are protected with their father. This so called attorney should be investigated.

She was my granddaughters father's attorney. I thought we would work that to achieve a goal we would all appreciate. It wasn't a good situation. I complimented her on her long healthy hair. She flipped her head as if I was a fly in her face. We will work on how to deal with such evil. The Lord will deal with her eventually. He knows my heart's in the right place. As much as everyone says how lazy she is she was 'on' the boy.....!

Do not hire her as a divorce attorney. After paying her a retainer to facilitate my divorce as quickly as possible, it took months before she took any action and after a year, I fired her and hired someone else, her delays cost me tens of thousands because my assets grew in value as did the distribution to my ex husband. Assets that she advised me he would have no entitlement to. She advised incorrect information and it cost me extensively.

The woman clearly can't even take care of herself and make herself presentable yet she's in charge of the welfare of so many children. If you are lucky she will be a friend of the attorney you hire and then you can get away with anything. You will know right away if they are on a first name basis. Absolutely pathetic human being

She is a pathetic so called attorney and human being that just goes along with whatever the DA wants. She does not care what happens to you and your family. I would say it's just a 9-5 with her only she doesn't give any effort that an actual job would require. The one star was because i had to.

Hired Attorney Smith for my divorce and custody matter. She talked a good game during my consultation about how quick she gets back to her clients. Once I paid the retainer, I found out that was a lie. She stopped returning my calls and emails. She drug her feet submitting my custody petition, so when she got around to it weeks later, she found out the other party had already filed in a different county so I had to go retain a new attorney in that county. She never returned my emails and calls to follow up and let me know my divorce was final or send me the decree. I found out the divorce was final after it was posted in the newspaper and I had to go to the court house and find out how to get my own copy of the divorce decree.

I felt Gail was more sympathetic to my ex-spouse's situation, and not as much as mine or my child's plight! During our support negotiation, she didn't "fight" for my son, and instead, advised me to settle for a payment BELOW the minimum recommended payment! I went back later on my own (after she charged me for a very expensive fee to let the court know she no longer represented me) and got more money. I did more on my own without paying her very expensive fees!

Gail was never able to really listen to me, nor did she advocate for me as I thought a true "Super" attorney would. At the end of my two year QDRO case, I wrote Gail, and her two partners, a letter outlining 5 areas in which I was dissatisfied with Gail's work. No one ever answered me. Gail and her firm are very expensive. I would never recommend her. Use someone else who may really listen to you, work for you, and not cost as much.

Google search his DUI arrest on March 23, 2012. Read the negative comments from prior clients and his colleagues. Then ask yourself "do I really want him representing me as my attorney?" If you know what's good for yourself, you'll work with a respectful attorney who deserves to be paid your hard earned dollars. He's experienced but very self-serving and not trustworthy. I wish I knew then what I know now.

What a Domestic Violence Lawyer Can Do for You

A domestic violence lawyer provides legal assistance to individuals involved in cases of domestic abuse, whether you are a victim seeking protection or someone accused of domestic violence defending against the charges. These lawyers help with obtaining restraining orders (protective orders), representing clients in criminal court, and handling related family law issues such as child custody, divorce, and visitation rights.

If you are dealing with domestic violence, a lawyer can help protect your rights and navigate the legal system to ensure your safety or defend you if you’re falsely accused.

When Should I Hire a Domestic Violence Lawyer?

You should consider hiring a domestic violence lawyer if you are:

  • A Victim of Domestic Violence:
    • Filing for a protective order (restraining order): If you need immediate protection from an abuser, a lawyer can help you file for a protective order, which legally requires the abuser to stay away from you and refrain from contacting you.
    • Divorce or separation due to abuse: If domestic violence is a factor in your relationship, a lawyer can help you pursue a divorce or legal separation and ensure that you are protected throughout the process.
    • Child custody and visitation issues: A lawyer can help you secure custody of your children and limit or restrict the abuser’s visitation rights to protect the safety of your children.
    • Filing criminal charges: If you are pursuing criminal charges against the abuser, a domestic violence lawyer can work with law enforcement and prosecutors to ensure the case is handled properly.
    • Assistance with safety planning: A lawyer can advise on the legal steps to create a safety plan, including securing temporary housing, and taking steps to protect you and your family.
  • Accused of Domestic Violence:
    • Defending against criminal charges: If you’ve been accused of domestic violence, a lawyer can defend your case, challenge the evidence, and represent you in court. If possible, the lawyer can help get charges reduced or dismissed.
    • Challenging a restraining order: If someone has obtained a protective order against you, a lawyer can help you contest the order to prevent it from negatively impacting your life, including your employment and child custody rights.
    • Dealing with family law issues: Domestic violence allegations can affect child custody, divorce, and property division. A lawyer can represent your interests in family court and ensure that your parental rights are protected.
    • Avoiding criminal record implications: A lawyer can work to minimize the impact of the allegations on your record, which can affect your employment, housing, and future legal matters.

Hiring a lawyer at the earliest stages can help ensure your rights are protected and the case is handled effectively, whether you are seeking protection or defending against accusations.

What Does a Domestic Violence Lawyer Do?

A domestic violence lawyer provides various legal services depending on the specifics of your case. These responsibilities often include:

  • For Victims:
    • Filing for protective orders: A lawyer can help victims of domestic violence obtain temporary or permanent restraining orders, which provide legal protection by restricting the abuser’s access to you and your children.
    • Representing you in divorce and child custody matters: Domestic violence often leads to divorce or separation, and a lawyer can represent you in family court to protect your assets, secure custody of your children, and arrange spousal and child support.
    • Criminal representation: Lawyers work with law enforcement and prosecutors to pursue criminal charges against the abuser, ensuring that you are informed and supported throughout the legal process.
    • Safety planning and legal advice: Lawyers provide advice on how to stay safe legally and can assist in securing temporary housing, providing guidance on how to leave abusive situations safely.
  • For the Accused:
    • Defending against charges: A lawyer will build a defense by investigating the case, gathering evidence, and challenging the claims made against you. If necessary, the lawyer can negotiate with prosecutors to reduce charges or penalties.
    • Challenging protective orders: If a restraining order has been placed against you, a lawyer can contest the order and present evidence to defend against it, aiming to minimize its impact on your life and reputation.
    • Handling related family law issues: Lawyers help defend against domestic violence allegations in divorce, child custody, and visitation disputes, working to protect your parental rights and reputation.
    • Preventing long-term consequences: A lawyer will work to protect you from the long-term consequences of a domestic violence conviction, such as a criminal record that could affect employment, housing, and more.

How Are Domestic Violence Lawyers Paid?

Domestic violence lawyers generally charge for their services in different ways depending on the case's complexity and the type of legal work involved. Common payment structures include:

  • Hourly rate: Many domestic violence lawyers charge by the hour, with rates ranging from $150 to $500 or more, depending on the lawyer’s experience and location. Hourly rates are common for both criminal defense and family law matters.
  • Flat fee: For specific tasks, such as filing a restraining order or defending against a straightforward domestic violence charge, some lawyers offer a flat fee that covers all legal work related to that service.
  • Retainer: In complex cases, such as those involving criminal charges, divorce, and custody disputes, a lawyer may require a retainer fee, which is an upfront payment that covers future legal services.
  • Pro bono or reduced fees: Some domestic violence lawyers provide pro bono (free) or reduced-fee services to victims of domestic abuse who cannot afford legal representation.

It’s important to discuss fees during your consultation to ensure you understand how much your case will cost and what payment options may be available.

How Much Does a Domestic Violence Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a domestic violence lawyer depends on the complexity of your case, the lawyer’s experience, and the type of legal work required. General cost estimates include:

  • Restraining orders: The legal fees for filing a protective or restraining order typically range from $500 to $2,500, depending on whether the case requires a hearing.
  • Criminal defense: If you’re defending against domestic violence charges, legal fees may range from $2,500 to $15,000 or more, depending on whether the case goes to trial and the severity of the charges.
  • Family law issues: Legal fees for divorce, child custody, and other family law issues related to domestic violence can range from $3,000 to $15,000 or more, depending on the complexity of the case.
  • Hourly rates: Domestic violence lawyers typically charge between $150 and $500 per hour for their services, with more experienced lawyers charging higher rates.

Always ask for a detailed cost estimate during your consultation to understand the total cost of legal services.

Top Questions to Ask a Domestic Violence Lawyer

Before hiring a domestic violence lawyer, it’s important to ask key questions to ensure they have the right experience and approach for your case. Key questions to ask include:

  1. What experience do you have with domestic violence cases?
Ensure that the lawyer has handled domestic violence cases similar to yours, whether you’re a victim or the accused.
  2. How do you charge for your services?
Clarify whether the lawyer charges by the hour, flat fees, or a retainer, and ask for a detailed cost estimate.
  3. What is the likely outcome of my case?
Ask the lawyer for an honest assessment of your case, including potential challenges and expected outcomes.
  4. How long will the process take?
Domestic violence cases vary in length, so ask the lawyer how long they expect the process to last and what might cause delays.
  5. Will I need to appear in court?
Ask if your participation in court is required, and how the lawyer plans to represent you during hearings or trials.
  6. What steps should I take to protect myself or my rights?
Whether you’re a victim seeking protection or defending against allegations, ask the lawyer how they will help you navigate the situation.

How to Check the Credibility of a Domestic Violence Lawyer

To ensure you are hiring a reputable domestic violence lawyer, take the following steps to verify their credentials and track record:

  • Check their bar status: Verify with your state bar association that the lawyer is licensed and in good standing with no history of disciplinary actions.
  • Look for domestic violence experience: Review the lawyer’s website or professional profile to ensure they specialize in domestic violence cases and have successfully handled cases like yours.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Look for reviews on platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to see what previous clients say about their experience with the lawyer.
  • Ask for references: A reputable lawyer should be able to provide references from past clients who have been involved in domestic violence cases.
  • Check for memberships in relevant organizations: Look for certifications or memberships in family law or domestic violence advocacy groups, such as the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence (NCADV).

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To get the most out of your first consultation with a domestic violence lawyer, it’s important to come prepared with relevant documents and information. Here’s what you should bring:

  • For Victims:
    • Details of the abuse: Prepare a detailed account of the abuse, including dates, locations, and descriptions of any injuries or threats.
    • Police reports and medical records: Bring copies of any police reports, medical records, or photographs that document the abuse.
    • Legal filings: If you have already filed for a restraining order or been involved in any legal proceedings, bring copies of those documents.
    • Questions about your safety and legal options: Be ready to ask about the best steps to protect yourself and your family, as well as what legal actions you should pursue.
  • For the Accused:
    • Details of the allegations: Prepare a detailed account of the incident or allegations against you, including any evidence or witnesses that support your defense.
    • Legal documents: Bring any legal documents you have received, such as a restraining order, criminal charges, or child custody filings.
    • Questions about your defense: Prepare questions about the legal process, possible penalties, and how the lawyer plans to defend your case.

By preparing thoroughly for your consultation, you can help the lawyer assess your situation and provide the best possible legal advice.
