First, let me say, I am not a person that gives my opinion of services I receive lightly. I thought long and hard about how I would characterize my review of Ms. Riccio. I found her through a friend and expected the regular lawyer client conversation and let's get this over with. Quite the contrary, Angela was very upfront about what was ahead of me, potential challenges and obstacles. She was very clear of what she would be able to do.
I feel she was a true professional throughout every proceeding, all the while keeping me informed, guiding me through the process, even when I knew she was busy, she was able to respond in a manner that made me feel like I mattered.
I won't go into specifics about my particular case, but I can say this, I don't how this would have gone with another attorney, but I am more than pleased with how it turned out. Greatly in part to Angela and her attention to detail, specifically addressing things as they pertained to my case and at all times making me feel like a person, not just a client.
Again, this is not just some random words, but my thoughts and giving back to someone that I feel like stood up for me. I would definitely recommend her to friends and family , and if needed would not hesitate to use personally again.

I came to Downs Law after having a less than satisfactory experience with my legal representation during my divorce. I met James through my bankruptcy attorney
During the bank fraud forclosures in 2010. He assisted me to stay in my forclosed home for 5 years, to recover some of the financial loss I incured when the bank kept my escrow money through the forclosure process. I highly recommend Jim for any issues you may have. In addition I found him to be genuinely concerned with my well being. I also loved his sense of humor.

I retained Grace Lee for the dissolution of my marriage of 15 years, with a young child. I haven't had a career in years because I was a stay at home mother. It was definitely a scary time, but she has always been compassionate and empathetic, but still held you firm in the law. She has always explained the entire process to me in ways that eased my mind: clearly and honestly with consideration of my unique situation.
She is reliable, dependable, and always available when you need her. Grace is sure to move the entire process along so that your case is finalized in the shortest time possible. She has always pushed for what was best for me and my child, and tried to provide maximum provisions for our future. Grace Lee is very professional with opposing counsel, but very firm, she is timely with responses, filings, depositions, and a solid counsel who makes you feel very protected and taken care of.

I would recommend Jennifer Bennett to any of my friends and/or colleagues (and in fact have). I was dealing with a landlord/tenant issue when the apartment building I resided in changed ownership. A friend of mine referred me to Ms. Bennett. She was very responsive to my request for help. She listened carefully and explained all my options thoroughly to me. She also gave me best and worst case scenarios so that I could prepare myself for all of the possibilities. I believe she worked very hard on my case. If I had a question, she responded to my emails or phone calls in a timely manner. She maintained contact with the attorney for the other party and kept me aware of any and all developments with the case. Without her, I know the situation would not have been handled as quickly nor as smoothly as it was. I had not had to use an attorney before and had heard horror stories from others. However, I did not have a negative experience at all and highly recommend Ms. Bennett. I had John as my lawyer in a hotly contested divorce proceeding which featured the withdrawal of the other side's lawyers during the case and the hiring of new ones midstream. John Malevitis guided the case through to a quite favorable settlement and conclusion for me. I have since hired him for various other business related matters. P.S. I asked John about the negative rating on Avvo received by a former client and I was advised of the client name, so I looked it up on the Court docket and found that in fact John had attended Court on her behalf about 30 plus times and that finally he had to withdraw when she was not cooperating with him and failed to attend Court as required. I don't understand how someone could publish these inaccuracies without first taking the time to look up the Court docket as I did!

Dagny was a pleasure to work with. My divorce wasn't overly complicated, however, my now ex wife was attempting to take the house I purchased for our family with inheritance money following the death of my mother. Dagny understood that my home carried a lot of sentimental value to me and understood the mission to separate my ex from it as much as possible. Thanks to my protective record keeping and Dagny's attention to the details, she was able secure the house for me and keep that buy out for my ex to less than half of what she wanted. I had hired Tom 5 yrs ago to arrange a parental visitation schedule order which was simple , he went out of his way to drive for my case which was held in kankakee IL ( it was very difficult to try to find an attorney who would venture out so far for my cause ) . Fast forward to 2020-2021 I had sought his services yet again for a contempt of court violation / parental time witheld by primary custodial parent . We are still on an ongoing fight for this but his drive to come through to the end for me is one I cannot thank enough . Attorney Neal is very realistic. From the initial consultation, she explicitly told me what to expect and not expect. She prefers to negotiate outside of court to keep client fees lower, but she was able to win my motions in court as well. We hired Mr. Ferrante to help us review and negotiate our embryo donation agreement that our donors' attorney drew up. He was very clear about what the process would look like, what our expectations should be, and what would be in our best interest as recipients. We started with a phone consultation (we are located in a different state) where he outlined how the process would work and he took the time to get to know a little bit more about our infertility journey. When we got the initial draft from the donors' attorney, he was very thorough in his review and he made it very clear what we should request to be changed in order to best protect our interests.
