I usually don't go on platforms to submit reviews but I felt that it was critical that I share my positive experience that I have had with Sara. I hired her several months ago for child custody, visitation and relocation matters. First and foremost, her legal advice and experience lended her the ability to surpass all other lawyers I consulted prior to hiring her. Her professionalism was beyond many and she had an unwavering representation of my interests even though my case presented major difficulties as it was a hard case both on the legal and moral standpoint. I appreciated her judgement and ability to organize the important overall objectives, always ensuring we stayed on course. She was always honest and open - she never tried to give me a false sense of hope or down played some hard realties. But she was still understanding and listened. She never exuded overconfidence and respected me as her client. She stayed calm and collected when I felt I could not. I consulted with four lawyers (at different firms) until I settled on Sara Schuler. I even retained one from a fancy big name firm for a while, but ultimately went back to her. Since my case ultimately went to trial, with a large firm on the other side, and because we won on every issue, I can't express I grateful I am that I had ultimately chose Sara.
When I first consulted with Sara, what struck me is how precise and accurate she is. This is not what I got with the other lawyers, who made egregious misstatements about the law in their conversations with me. For example, a lawyer at a different (and well-known) firm told me, “well, the court doesn’t care about your contributions to the marriage,” when I told her I would like the marital assets to split according to our contributions. In fact, the Virginia statute explicitly requires that the court consider the “contributions, monetary and nonmonetary, of each party to the well-being of the family.” Sara never made any such errors in speaking with me, or in speaking to the court.
This precision and accuracy are essential in the unfortunate case that you go to court. The trial was like an enormous fact checking exercise, involving thousands of pages of documents. Our credible presentation of the facts was central to our trial win. In contrast, mistakes, mis-statements, and being loose with the facts seemed to sink the other side.
Related to her precision and accuracy, I felt I could trust Sara. Lawyers seem to care very much about their reputation in the legal community, much more so than they care about the outcome of your particular case. The other lawyers I consulted with tried to badger me into settling for an inequitable division rather than risk their reputations in a court room. Not that Sara was at all eager to go to court---she was also very reluctant, but at least she didn’t lie to me to try to get me to do what’s best for her career. Lawyers at some other (big name) law firms did.
The whole pre-trial thing, and hopefully that’s the whole thing for you, that’s all very stressful too, and I was glad I had a lawyer I could trust for that part of it.

Sara understands federal government employees' unique situation, particularly those amongst us who initiate the separation/divorce process from overseas. She represented me in court, mediation, and in direct communication with the opposing party.
Sara runs her own practice and takes the time to know her clients and cases, she is always prepared for situations as they arise. She provides a personalized service to her clients and she always has had time for me when I had unexpected legal needs, including once while she was on vacation. I’d recommend Sara to anyone considering or determined to divorce.

I hired I hired Mirham at S&R after consulting with over a dozen firms in the area. She and the firm were the only ones that did not insult other firms and followed up immediately. After my first telephone conversation with her I was sure I wanted her representing me in court.
Mirham represented me in Stafford County District Court for a misdemeanor Reckless Driving Charge. Going into court I was confident she would be able to get the charges reduced, even though I had a less than perfect driving record. She was able to get the charges reduced to a very small fine.

First off i need to say THANK YOU to Mirham , for helping me with my custody battle for my 1 year old daughter let me just say when a father trys to battle a mother all odds are against you and chances are one in a million to win in most cases every lawyer i called pretty much just told they can get me visitation and help put me on child support but i knew i had a case and i wouldnt settle for that and i was desperate cause i havent seen my daughter in months and i saw S&R Law firm and i gave them a try and Mirham Yacoubs answer the phone and we spoke for almost an hour and with all the proof i show her she took on my case and did not give up on me or my daughter months went by and she worked really hard for me until feb 18 2016 she help me win temperature joint physical custody and i was able to see my little girl again ill never forget that feeling and enjoy mirham was able to bring to me that day it was an emotional day for me and still at that she went against my wife law firm who claims that they are better which i cant lie they have more of the experience in case like this and right when i thought we lost mirham pulled the win for me she took my case personal now im proud to say thanks to mirham & s&r law firm i now have primary physical custody of my daughter. We recently created a revocable living trust, will, power of attorney and medical directive.
The process was smooth from start to finish.
1) Bria walked us through the process with an initial tele-visit.
2) We then completed a simple questionnaire that Bria used to generate the final documentation which we reviewed at home
3) Finally, we had a 30 minute in person visit to make corrections, sign and execute

I got in my first major car accident last year in November and it was a major blow financially and emotionally for me because it wasn't my fault at all and I had no idea where to turn too for legal help. By the grace of God my fiancee's coworker suggested this law firm for my case because he had such a good experience with them and let me tell you he wasn't lying. Throughout the whole process so far they have been so helpful and nice making this traumatic experience for me so much easier to get through. While recovering from my injury they even sent little care packages! Me and my fiancee thought that was so nice of them, For them to go out of there way to do that for us. I have full confidence in them resolving my case and hopefully this review helps someone else reach out to get the help and compensation they deserve as well. The person took notes and wouldn't answer my one question. I informed him that the following day would be better for me to talk fully to his boss if he wasn't the one who couldn't answer my question. He said okay he understood, someone will call me. but no one ever called me the next day like I was informed that they would. Also the call never ever came, at all for any day that week.

After scouring Google for a fair/reputable law firm that I trusted to handle my uncontested divorce I came across Virginia Family Law Center.
I knew after visiting their immaculately detailed website that my search was over. The site allowed me to see early on just how welcoming, transparent, and dedicated the staff at this law firm is.
From the very first interaction in addition to speaking with Ms. Carroll during my initial free consultation I knew that I could rest assured and trust VA Family Law with my individual situation.
As a 1st time divorcée to say that my nerves and emotions were naturally heightened would be an understatement. Yet throughout it all VA Family Law held my hand every step of the way. They never complicated the matter further by adding any uncertainty or confusion to the mix.
The entire process was seamless from beginning to end. All of my questions and concerns were acknowledged, validated, and dealt with accordingly. All of my emails and/or phone calls were swiftly returned & answered I was never left hanging.
I was assisted closely by Ms. Medina, Ms. Carroll, and Ms. Herrera. I have to say these professionals are quite the dynamic trio. They are the epitome of tact, empathy, and servitude. They went above and beyond to resolve this delicate matter for me and I am eternally grateful.
However, I would like to commend the entire staff at VA Family Law Center. Since I know that each individual brings something to the table as far as the law firms overall credibility and efficiency goes.
Honestly, I was brought back to life with each instructive email and every heartfelt update. The guestimated time frame for my divorce to be finalized was 2 to 3 weeks and everything was wrapped up exactly at the 2 week mark.
I don't want to jinx it but I know in my heart if I ever have to get a divorce again I will be reaching out to y'all immediately!

I was forced to hire an attorney because my ex had done some things in clear violation of our divorce decree, and had harmed the children in the process. Sandy immediately recognized the issues and determined that the case was very strong. My ex was being stubborn and refused to admit doing anything wrong, so we had to go to trial. Trial was in the Fairfax Circuit Court. Sandy was WAY more prepared than my ex's counsel, and it was not even a fair fight. Sandy Havrilak is one of the best I have seen. She eviscerated my ex on the stand, and the judge was eating it up. By the end of the trial, the judge was ready to throw my ex in jail -- something I did not ask for or want. If you want a tough, no BS lawyer who will fight for you -- call Sandy. Her associate, Julia Yolles, was also excellent by the way.

Erin Masin, is absolutely excellent. She is thorough, well studied, (very knowledgeable), has an incredible memory, and is like an AI engine when in court; she knows exactly what to say, and when to say it as she is dynamic and can shift gears on a dime all while making it look rehearsed for a week. Her placement, and logical order of *points and *arguments, will leave you wondering if she's also a mathematician. Let the other side beware of this lawyer.
Also worth mentioning - her court presence (examination and cross-examination) is right out of a movie. Her summary/closure statements are second to none.

My brother was hit in the of his truck on duty. The defendant and the cop in charge of reporting the crime to the court have tried to intimidate and blame my brother to be at fault of the incident.
