Recommend this firm and Kathryn Cunningham who prepared my documents. I had moved from MD to VA a few years ago and procrastinated about having my Will, POA and Health directive changed to meet VA requirements. Ms Cunningham made the process very easy - everything done by email until the in person signing. There was really no reason to have procrastinated!

Ben Brasfield took my case and when it was all over he said something to the effect of, “If you’re willing to outwork the other side things will go your way”… or something like that…He’s definitely not lazy! It wasn’t advice for me, it was a general statement of how he prepped to take the case, but I still think about that. He’s smart, strategic, thorough, and experienced. He had a good staff or paralegals as well.

Ms. Masin worked extremely hard alongside me to determine the best way to handle each situation as it arose during my separation and divorce. Erin Masin, is absolutely excellent. She is thorough, well studied, (very knowledgeable), has an incredible memory, and is like an AI engine when in court; she knows exactly what to say, and when to say it as she is dynamic and can shift gears on a dime all while making it look rehearsed for a week. Her placement, and logical order of *points and *arguments, will leave you wondering if she's also a mathematician. Let the other side beware of this lawyer.
Also worth mentioning - her court presence (examination and cross-examination) is right out of a movie. Her summary/closure statements are second to none.

To say Leslie Hoffman is an exemplary attorney is a disservice to her legal acumen and skills. Leslie is nothing short of a brilliant strategist and has an unmatched legal mind. I hired Leslie for my divorce earlier this year at the suggestion of a good friend, and am just finishing with the final decree of divorce. I recently found a list of my goals and objectives for the divorce, she met every one. She is direct, straight forward, kind and is intimidated by no one. I read an article about obtaining divorce attorneys and it essentially said when you are going through a messy divorce with a few assets, get the best. That best is Leslie Hoffman. My case was a somewhat complex domestic situation, a misdemeanor charge that could have resulted in jail time. I was charged with a DWI and Civil Refusal back in February and was terrified of the consequences a conviction would entail. Fortunately, a friend referred me to Scott Surovell who agreed to represent me and set a plan in action from our very first call. He helped me understand how the process would take place and our strategy for my defense. As my Court date approached, we continued once before finally going before the Arlington County General District Court. The State Prosecutor had not offered any plea deals so it was to go to trial.
Scott was a masterful trial attorney. It was impressive to watch him work and gave me confidence we would come out with a positive ruling. After he dismantled the Prosecution, it was agreed that the Charge would be reduced to Reckless Driving and the Commonwealth would Motion to Nolle Prosequi the Refusal Charge. This was a HUGE relief. I cannot thank Scott enough for his work on my case and would recommend him to anyone seeking a Defense Attorney.

He is the worst attorney never honest or said the truth changing the words every time in different mood. He is not professional or organized. Please save your money and don’t work with him ever. Left my case in last min in my court day he did withdraw to the case. We have a contract of flat rate and paid him in advance. A night before the court day asking me to give him more money he tried to push me in the corner to pay him more. Before, I talk to tell why the extra pay we already made a deal and I paid. He yelled and disrespected, treated me so bad then hangs up the phone. After that texting me “I will filling an order to withdraw”. Yes, Can you imagine? A day before your court without giving you any notice. I send him an agreement with my ex before a month ago. In the court he wasn’t prepared and even he didn’t know anything about the case. Even though I called him and updated him but he is looking for money how he can get more from you. I never forgive you on what you did! And your life become so hard because you took $2500 for nothing as I paid you in advance.

Good Chinese food. Rice is not given with the dish. You have to order separately. I went on team lunch and it was great experience. The ambience is quiet and clean. Faux monsters plant fill the vicinity of the restaurant so nicely. Food is properly cooked and spice level is exactly as indicated. I like spicy food so i took highest spice level.

It takes five emails and additional effort to get anything done with this law firm after preliminary hearing. Also, after an illegal action was conducted in court during preliminary hearing from opposing party, this lawyer didn't speak up against illegal action. He is good initial call for consultation, yet doesn't follow through with promises after preliminary hearing. I wouldn't recommend him. He's overwhelmed with two clients in trial at one time. Stretched too thin. Can only do one client in trial at a time.

Alex Heidt has helped me with several legal matters. While I was in school, my college was attempting to pocket my FAFSA loans and make me pay out of pocket. Mr. Heidt was able to not only stop them from forcing me to pay or drop out, but he also found out they actually owed me $800.00. Over the years, he has also helped me to start my own company, provide legal advice pertaining to running a small-business and created contracts and consulting agreements. I was very disappointed about the outcome of my child custody case. Ms. Alanna was not prepared, didn't know key facts of my case, and did a horrible job presenting to the judge. She was an amateur in the court room. She dismissed a key witness in my case without my approval, didn’t respond to my emails and was unorganized. I’m sure if you're going through a child custody case it’s a very tough time in your life. Mrs. Williams did not provide sound advice, dedication, or adequate representation. I would not recommend this lawyer to anyone.

Alex was the attorney of the American Polis after he loses the case in the court room I was advised by his client to contact him regarding the case we did Call him several times I also emailed him few times he didn’t respond he’s an young an unexperienced new attorney he thinks he knows all the answers and acting like James Bond. anyway he also lied to my attorney before the court date he was told by his client to offer us $7500 but he told to my attorney $5000 only just to stretch the case so he can make some money on the side if I had the option I would give him zero has poor communication skills he just have a long way to hopefully he will serve his client better in future if he he ever gets one .

The 1st family lawyer I got was horrible and cost me about $10k. I hired Mehagen back in 2013 and she was empathetic, honest and great in the courtroom when fighting for you and your case. If you’re considering legal representation by Camille Crandall, I strongly urge you to reconsider. My experience with Ms. Crandall was not only disappointing but financially devastating. Her handling of my case was fraught with serious errors that resulted in significant monetary losses, and I am compelled to share my story as a cautionary tale.
One of the most critical aspects of my case was the accurate valuation of a major asset. Unfortunately, Ms. Crandall failed to secure an updated appraisal at a crucial point in the proceedings, leading to a gross undervaluation of the asset. This oversight cost me a substantial amount of money, a loss that could have easily been avoided with competent representation. What’s more, her inability to correct this mistake even after it was brought to her attention reflects a troubling level of negligence.
Additionally, Ms. Crandall’s mishandling of the financial aspects of my case did not stop there. When it came to determining my financial obligations, her failure to adequately argue and present necessary evidence resulted in an unrealistic and exorbitant financial burden being placed upon me. This has had long-lasting effects on my financial well-being, effects that could have been mitigated with a more thorough and professional approach.
What’s most disheartening is that when I attempted to seek accountability for these clear instances of professional negligence, I was met not with concern or an attempt to rectify the situation, but with threats of countersuits and baseless accusations from her firm. This kind of response speaks volumes about the ethics and priorities of the representation I received.
In conclusion, entrusting my case to Camille Crandall was a costly mistake. Her incompetence and the subsequent unwillingness to take responsibility for the substantial harm caused have left me in a far worse position than before. I would strongly advise anyone seeking legal representation to look elsewhere—your financial future may depend on it.

So let’s talk about Camille Crandall, a legal superstar who didn’t just take my custody case but TOTALLY owned it, turned it around and WON. I need to give MAJOR kudos to Ms. Crandall for her incredible work in handling my rollercoaster of a custody court case, dealing with tough topics, spanning two different state jurisdictions (I don’t even live in Virginia!). She turned around a tough loss from a prior court hearing with another attorney into us receiving 98% of everything we asked for in the Virginia court final hearing with Ms. Crandall’s guidance. And if that wasn’t enough, the court also totally unexpectedly granted me decision-making authority for the child in question– an unexpected win I credit to Ms. Crandall’s expertise and hard work. And here’s the kicker, she accepted my complex case with an emergent deadline after a few other attorneys turned me down – and after that tough loss in a prior court hearing with a different attorney.
Ms. Crandall didn’t just argue the law, she poured her heart into my case – almost like I was her own family!!! The level of preparation and her closing arguments were incredible! (Court watchers attested her closing arguments were fantastic.) Seeing that level of commitment and belief in her legal case -- it was AMAZING!
Ms. Crandall gave me no-nonsense advice and recommendations from the start, and truly knows Virginia law, court, and judges. That’s what any client wants. My case was something many attorneys hadn’t seen before, and Ms. Crandall was NOT intimidated. I interviewed several attorneys and her advice/recommendations/process was just the most practical, honest, and useful, and directed towards succeeding at my case – she’s truly no-nonsense, straightforward, and real with you. Camille Crandall who almost made impossible to possible in my case about having my child's custody. She is my hero who presented me such a wonderful way that I could never think of. I only worked with her for last 4/5 months and I hardly talked to her in person. But still the way she read me, understood me and presented me in the court, I don't think that any of my family member or friend could do that. She is honest, hard working, straight forward and very specific. More I want to write about her, more I want to see the good qualities in her. Her entire team was very professional and hard working for my case as if they know me for soo long. My situation/case was complicated for many lawyers but she made it very smooth and easy in the court. I will definitely recommend her for any divorce/ child custody/visitation case. God sent her in my life as an angel and have my child back. Alice supported me on negotiating and updating a child support and visitation agreement. She was very nice, pleasant, and professional. She communicated well, calling and emailing as often as necessary. My biggest concerns revolve around her lack of due diligence and understanding of my needs. There were several occasions where it became clear she either didn't actually read, or didn't understand, some supporting documentation provided. This resulted in impacting the negotiation where opposing counsel called out her mistakes ultimately weakening our credibility and position. I also viewed some of her advice toward the end as questionable, focused more on protecting her reputation and less on protecting my interests. I have not returned, nor would I recommend this attorney.

I hired Chap Peterson for legal assistance, but unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. Despite paying for their services, I did not receive the level of support and attention I expected. Communication was lacking, and it felt like my case was neglected. I'm disappointed with the overall experience.
Never expect that Chap is going to handle your case. You will face with couple un-experienced young employees. We had a deposition with other party and they didn’t even tell me the date.
On my first meeting with Chap and Chris, I explained them everything and never told them that the other party had damage to my business. Chap and Chris said no worry, since they break the contract we can still win the case . I ask them couple times when the case was continuing, are we still certain? Every single time , they said we are good, we will win the case.
After, I spend 20k-30k and 2-3 weeks before trial they called me and said there is no case because there is no damage to the business. I said I told you that from the beginning and you knew that why you start this case then?
Stay away from this company. They are going to get your money and will do the same thing.

Hire at your own risk. Hiring her was a complete waste of time. She was very unprofessional and unprepared for my case. She did not have the experience to handle my case, and I felt she was working for the other party and agreeing with anything they proposed. Furthermore, she did not 'advise' me on legal issues that could help my case and provided the standard cookie-cutter, run-of-mill lawyering. Everything I found out was through my research. Stay away!
