First, let me tell you that Stephen King, PA is one of, if not the best, law professionals in Harford County, MD. As preceded by other great reviews you will see on Avvo, Mr. King brings a wealth of knowledge and practical application of the law to a variety of situations. What makes his practice so encompassing is his great team which is dedicated to their clients and equally as knowledgeable with ever-changing laws and regulations. Mr. King's paralegals, Valerie and Paula, are meticulous in making sure each case is reviewed and work with clients to provide the best advice and outcome respective to the situation. In my divorce, my former spouse was very spiteful and used tactics which were not uncommon in contested divorces involving children. Mr. King was adamant in making sure we stayed above board and maintained the high road which ultimately provided for justice in closing out the divorce with facts rather than spite. Equally impressive was Mr. King's handling of criminal affairs in my case which included an in-law who decided to take things into her own hands during the divorce. Again, Mr. King represented me in obtaining the proper protective order and criminal actions which did not fair well for the other side. Mr. King is well versed in the family and criminal matters. Make sure you know what the attorney practices in the majority of the time. Obtaining an Estate Planning attorney who does a majority of their cases in estate planning the past few years may not be as wise as getting someone who is currently practicing family law matters real-time, most of the time. That's like asking a KIA mechanic to work on a Maserati, respectfully. Do the research, trust me it will save you in the long run. Finally, Mr. King is truthful in not promising unobtainable results, but rather making sure that his clients are part of the process with reasonable solutions. If you are looking for a therapist, while Mr. King would certainly hear you, please make sure you do so alongside your legal process. I say this because Mr. King is very mindful of his client's cost and will make sure and impart that his services are to represent you (which he does without question) but not waste dollars on time not dedicated to the case. I personally found this helpful in understanding that his time and your time are just as important as his other clients, he respects that and will make sure you understand this. Please understand that legal matters, whether civil, criminal, etc can have far-reaching implications that affect you down the road in life. While Mr. King is NOT the highest cost per hour, you as the client and potential defendant and/or plaintiff, need to understand that if you are looking for a Dollar General Attorney you will definitely get Dollar General Results. Again this is not to say Mr. King is costly, in fact, the opposite as his cost is comparable to others, but do yourself a favor and factor in the cost down the road of a poor outcome versus getting it right and done for yourself the first time around. Can't say enough... do your own homework but make sure you give Stephen King a call as part of that homework.

After a 25 year marriage, I didn’t know where to begin to find legal representation with the knowledge, professionalism, and support to guide me through the tribulations of divorce. Ms Dilima listened, explained my options, helped me understand what I was entitled to, and won the custody and alimony arrangement that was in the best interests of my children and me. Fait & Dilima literally wrote the book on divorce in Maryland and when the opposing attorneys cited outdated laws and attempted unprofessional tactics, Ms Dilima simply corrected and clarified them with class in a calming manner, making it all look like child’s play. I tried two attorneys before finding Ms Dilima and what I thought was “the cheaper attorney’s fee”, was recovered four times over with Fait and Dilima. These women are simply the best and I am forever grateful for their services!

Unfortunately my Mother passed away without having a Will or any of her Estate affairs in order. Prior to my mothers passing I had never handled an Estate before. I contacted a few attorneys but didn't feel they were the right fit for all of the complications pertaining to the Estate. Some attorney's weren't even willing to take it on. A neighbor of mine (who is an attorney) suggested that I contact Mr. Andre McDonald to handle my Mothers Estate. After our initial phone consultation, I knew immediately that he was the the right fit for all that needed to be accomplished. It was around the holidays. Mr. McDonald went above and beyond the typical duties that involve getting an Estate opened. He stayed involved and was on top of every aspect regarding the Estate throughout the entire process. He followed through with getting the Estate closed in a timely fashion. Mr. McDonald was very professional and knew exactly what to do and how to handle the Estate. He was always informative and reliable. Mr. McDonald always personally returned my phone calls and my emails in a timely manner. His staff was very pleasant and a joy to work with during a very hard time in my life. He kept me up to date on anything that needed to be done. I was injured in a rear end collision on the Capital beltway. Mr. Rosenthal worked on my case patiently for an extended period of time due to continued medical treatment. He helped negotiate a settlement with the responsible party's insurance company that I would never have been able to accomplish on my own. I liked that we discussed the case as a team, as this allowed me to fully understand a very complicated process. When first meeting Regina it was initially to create a pre-nuptial agreement, never thinking we would meet again to handle divorce proceedings. The prenuptial agreement was done timely, accurately and her advice was very exacting. When the separation/divorce was imminent she was not only a most knowledgeable legal representative but kind and emotionally available. Never did I expect to be navigated through such a most difficult time in my life with such caring. I was driving with no insurance, than I hit someone. I had some jail time charges. I missed my court date. Mr. Scott handle everything. He got the jail time charges remove. None of this is on my driving record. All I had to pay to the District Court was $275. Mr. Scott is great!!!! If you need a lawyer please use Mr. Richard Scott, he will give you a GREAT outcome.

I hired Joel to help me in the negotiation and drafting of my separation agreement, as well as having my divorce finalized. Although my case is so ongoing and probably will be dragged out for quite a while, I felt the need to write this review anyway. I hired Josh a couple weeks ago to represent me in what is a VERY sticky, messy case. Within an HOUR of retaining him, much to my surprise, he had entered himself as my attorney and filed a bunch of motions on my behalf! So to say he is quick, professional and on top of things is an understatement. He is in constant contact with me, answering my (many) questions as they present & makes me feel at ease as I am a very hurt, ball of nerves. He’s been fantastic and if I have to go through this mess, I’m glad I have HIM to fight for me!

April 2017. After I filed for custody of my child I was charged with domestic violence. I was also charged with a protective order in an attempt to keep me from contacting my ex and our daughter for 2 years. I was completely devastated, not only because I am a man fighting for custody and there are so many rumors that the family law court is biased against men, also because I had lost my freedom and the most precious thing in my life, my daughter, because of false allegations. I hired Josh Ortega the morning after I got out of jail. He had 1 night to prepare for the protective order hearing. The protective order against me was denied. Josh Ortega then represented me for the domestic violence/assault charges that were filed against me. For all 7 charges I was found either Not Guilty or dismissed. Finally, after 14 months I had court for my child custody case. End result, we got a great outcome. I say "we" because Josh has been with me every step of the way. I believe he really cares about my daughter and winning my case. There have been many phone calls and emails that Josh didn't even charge me for. This case worked out exactly how I needed it to and now my daughters mother has calmed down a lot. I would say one of Mr. Ortega's biggest strengths is performance in the court room. Has ability to be passive and to be aggressive in court. Quick thinking. Wants to win. I was very passionate about winning my case and Josh was the best attorney I could have asked for.

There are lawyers, then they’re heroes. Nicholas Exarhakis is more than an attorney, he’s a warrior. I discovered Nick on a google search as I desperately scrambled to find an attorney after my previous attorney dropped the ball on my case. My case was complex and far from an easy litigation or legal maneuver. Since the very first consultation I understood immediately that Nick was not the type of attorney that will give me false hope or give me unreal expectations for my case. He was REAL and HONEST. I am a man who wanted custody of my daughter from a mother who had custody since birth (6 years). Without getting into the details of the case, Nick fought relentlessly to have me granted primary custody. The battle was fierce with many motions, hearings appeals and so on, but Nick showed up prepared, armed with facts, evidence, discovery findings, effective cross examination questions and more. He went above and beyond to say the least. No doubt, his time is not cheap, but it was money well spent as I am now the primary custodian of my daughter after 6 years of being alienated from her. NO OTHER ATTORNEY WAS ABLE TO DO WHAT NICK DID. He’s in a different class. If you are a parent (especially a male) who is discouraged because you think that the legal system has failed you, or need the representation you deserve, contact Nicholas Exarhakis about your case. He got me results and I know he will fight for you like he fought for me.

Thank you Lord for Nick Exarhakis! I contacted Mr. Exarhakis via the AVVO site requesting a separation/divorce consultation. I thought I would have to wait weeks to hear back, but to my surprise Mr. Exarhakis called me within hours. To my even greater surprise, he was able to offer me a free phone consultation during that same call. Mr. Exarhakis was extremely helpful during the consult. He took time to listen and to answer all of my questions as well as provide much needed guidance. Once Mr MacFee, accepted my case and agreed on a retainer he went straight to work. I will say my case was a long and hard, almost 3 years long one. And even as long as it was and complex, he never went up on cost. Mr. MacFee is a nice person but at the same time he is a beast in a court room. He kept me informed the whole way. And he told me what was going to happen at each turn. If I ever need a lawyer or was able to refer someone it would be Bradley.. Mr MacFee is great in my opinion. James.

On May 3, 2017 I called Brad MacFee and asked him to go and see my fiance, who at the time was incarcerated and awaiting trial on a 1st degree murder charge. Needless to say, the fact that he was facing such a serious charge and was incarcerated and away from us was causing a significant amount of stress to the family. Within a few days Brad went out and interviewed my fiance. He throughly reviewed the case using the information he had available to him at the time, which was essentially the police report and the information provided to him by his client. After the visit Brad called me, discussed with me what he had discussed during the visit and told me how much it would cost for him to handle the case. Under the circumstances I thought the fee was more than reasonable and I retained Brad to begin representation. According to the information Brad obtained, there were 2 people that claimed to be eyewitnesses to the murder. With that, Brad focused on locating those people and investigating their version of event and their credibility. In the weeks leading up to the trial, it became clear that one of the witnesses was missing and would not be found. That left a single remaining eyewitness on whom the state would have to rely to obtain a conviction. Brad located this person and met with him and his family, interviewing all of them thoroughly. As it turned out, this witness, who had previously identified my fiance in a photo lineup, claimed that he had been coerced into making that identification. He also denied even seeing the crime, but claimed that he had been arrested on a drug charge, and had been told by the police that if he cooperated with them and made the necessary identification, there would be no charges filed against him related to the drug case. On the morning trial was set to begin, the eyewitness signed an affidavit swearing to the information he had previously provided. Naturally, this fact created a major problem for the state, whose sole eyewitness had now claimed under oath that his entire involvement in the case was a sham. I assume this fact ultimately payed into the decision of the state to dismiss the charges against my fiance, thereby eliminating even the possibility that he could be convicted in this case. At the en of the day, the point is that not just anyone is capable of handling a case this serious. You need a lawyer that is willing to get out into the street and get his hands dirty in an effort to obtain every possible advantage for his client. In Baltimore City, where the murder rate is at an all-time high, prosecutors are under tremendous pressure to bring these cases to trial and win convictions. They simply do not drop these cases like they were speeding tickets. It was only because Brad was willing to go out and do what needed to be done that the state reluctantly made the decision to dismiss the charges. That said, I am very, very glad we made the decision to bring Brad MacFee in to handle this case for us, and if you ever find yourself in a similar position, I would strongly encourage you to at east talk with him before making the critical decision regarding who will represent you or your loved one.

My fiance was attacked with a knife and he did what he had to. The guy that attacked him ended up badly injured and the police arrested by fiance. He was charged with Attempted first degree murder, first degree assault, second degree assault, and assault with a deadly weapon. I immediately began searching for a lawyer that could help us. I met with numerous lawyers and spoke to many over the phone. I was referred to Bradley Macfee from a family member. At this point I was honestly so stressed over this because I couldn’t find a lawyer that was a good fit. I met with a lot of good lawyers, but I didn’t feel like they would really fight for us. I didn’t want empty promises about the outcome because that would be a lie. I wanted someone that would be ruthless and fight. I found exactly what I was searching for in Brad. He was very straight up with me and he was very down to earth. He immediately began working to try to get my fiance out of jail. Over the time that he was in jail, he went to see him numerous times. He was denied bail, so Bradley put in for a Habeas Corpus motion to get him a bail review. Due to the fact that he was on probation, we had to go in front of the judge that gave him probation. When the hearing finally came up, Brad ended up speaking with the judge prior to the start of the hearing where she told him that she was in no way going to give him a bail and that she’ll hear him out, but he isn’t going anywhere. So, since we couldn’t get a bail, we began working on the case. He was very attentive to any questions or concerns that I had. He made various efforts to talk with witnesses. He called them and even went to a bar he knew that they would be at and was there until around midnight. From very early on in this process, he was talking to the prosecutor to try to influence her to drop the case. He spoke with the prosecutor and she explained to Brad that she was unsure of what she was going to with the case. She asked him to give her two weeks and to then give her a call back. I honestly was thinking he was going to get a decent amount of jail time for this charge because of the severity of it. I met with another lawyer that told me, he was probably going to get ten years in jail. I will never ever forget October 11, 2016. I was at physical therapy and I got a call from Brad, a day earlier than he was supposed to be talking to the prosecutor. Brad said, “Are you sitting down” and I said yes. He explained to me that the prosecutor was dropping the charges completely. I immediately broke down in tears. I was uncontrollably crying and I can’t never even explain the feeling of relief and thankfulness that I felt that day. Brad then moved up the violation of probation hearing and he was able to come home the day of the hearing. I will never be able to repay Brad for what he has done for me and my family. I would recommend everyone to him. We are now currently using Brad for a child custody case.

A family member recently received two underage drinking citations within a few month period. The close proximity of the charges threatened to leave a permanent record that could be a burden to the client's reputation and advancement for years. In this somewhat unusual case, Bill Henry proposed a creative solution to the Court that was accepted and ultimately resulted in the complete dismissal and expungement of all charges. Bill's ongoing timely communication to multiple Maryland state officials and to us, his clients, was exemplary. I have worked with mr Henry twice on two different cases. The first was my fathers estate It was a very sticky mess and required knowledge of all different aspects with properties under water and extreme debt. However mr Henry handled the estate well and everything worked out so well. He gave the best advice and broke down all the legal jargon for me to better understand my options. The second was my own will he did it for my husband and I and did a great job. Of course it was done well and fast! He is a great lawyer and person. I highly recommend him.

I hired Mr Ewan to handle my custody case in Montgomery County. He’s straight up (to say the least). He always kept me aware of my options, advised me well and handled my case thoroughly. Custody modification is often even more challenging than an initial custody proceeding. The "material change" and "best interest" standards are rather subjective and a judge is not inclined to change a custody agreement without overwhelming evidence that it would improve the child's situation. Despite the inherent difficulty, Ms. Russell achieved the exact result we set out to achieve in my custody modification case. She is an incredible strategist and litigator with a total command of MD custody law. Every part of the plan was well-considered and well-executed. I would highly recommend Emily for any family law matter. I would also recommend listening to her when she provides advice. Unlike some attorneys, she doesn't hedge on every recommendation to the point that you're making all the decisions without knowing the possibilities of how those decisions will turn out. She will provide sound advice taking into account the facts of the matter. Tell her the truth, take her advice, and let her do her job. She is equipped to attain the best possible outcome for you and your family.

My very first impression of Emily was amazing. Friends of mine were having their first child and the hospital would not allow the non birth mother to access their newborn due to them being a same sex couple. Emily not only answered her phone right away, she drove to the hospital to make sure her clients were being taken care of! Emily (and Heather) stepped in to handle was was quickly becoming a very emotional situation. Within moments the problem was solved and our friends had a smooth adoption afterwards. I knew Emily was going to be my first call to handle dissolving a civil union (issued only in Vermont) that I had been a part of since 2001. Emily met with me to go over my options on what I was told by two other attorneys would be nearly impossible and very costly. My former partner and I were tethered to a civil union that states no longer recognized and they were obsolete as marriage equality was on the horizon. The unfortunate part was those living in civil unions who had separated, like myself were caught up in the red tape of the courts with many courts claiming no jurisdiction, yet this was still a legal binding that would had to be dissolved to get officially married. From the start Emily said "we will get this done, and if we can't at first we will keep trying until we do". Emily went far above and beyond in my case. On the day before the trial, the courts were all of a sudden requesting my EX be present. She lives 1200 miles away. Emily called the court endlessly the entire day and after hours, she faxed forms to the judge and guided not only me but pointed my ex in the proper direction to make sure she would not be left in some sort of trouble with the courts. As my case was in front of the judge, i was worried! I felt the judge was tough on the cases before mine....Emily was right next to me and consistently told me "its ok". When it was time for my case, Emily was confident and calm in front of the judge. She had a quick response for every question and was prepared for what seemed like anything and everything. 10 minutes later, my civil union which had been in limbo for years, was dissolved! Emily Charged me a regular uncontested divorce rate. She responded to every call and email within hours. I still can't believe it and Emily and I stay in touch to this very day! if you need an attorney, this is your answer. EMILY AND HEATHER. They are not just attorneys, they are real people who truly get it. You'll never feel intimidated or pressured, Emily made me feel like she was fighting for a personal friend the entire time.
