Mr. Roper was a great help in my legal battle. Pertaining to a restraining order that was falsely filed against me by my ex-girlfriend who I caught lying & cheating. Even had the opposing party scared enough to drop everything.

A friend of mine referred me to Kurt, saying he was “the best of the best,” and he wasn’t wrong! In just a couple of months of using him for my custody case, I have learned that he is someone I can fully trust, can be depended on to get back to me in a timely manner, and give me solid and professional advice. Ten years ago, I needed an attorney to handle my separation and divorce. I knew at the time that it was going to be very difficult and tumultuous. I asked around family and friends for recommendations. A neighbor of mine highly recommended Alan Levenstein of Houlan and Berman. She had been through a very complex and contentious divorce and was very happy with the services that Alan had provided. With that, I decided to have Alan represent me. It was a great decision! My situation, like many others, consisted of the opposing party who wanted everything plus more that they could get. Through Alan’s very capable hands, he was able to minimize the financial impact to myself. Alan skillfully negotiated and crafted a settlement agreement that was optimal, safe, fair overall and most important that provided financial protection if my circumstances should change. As time progressed and my circumstances changed, Alan was able to craft and negotiate a modification to the original agreement. Recently, as my circumstances changed again, Alan was able to craft and negotiate a buy-out of my settlement for a very significant amount less than what my full-term payout would have been on the original settlement. I am thrilled! It’s all over and behind me! Alan did a masterful job. Throughout the process, Alan was able to counsel and guide me through numerous interrogatories and deposition. Numerous times, he coached me and calmed me down especially when he sensed my anger or despair. He made me focus on the task at hand and reigned me in when I felt overwhelmed. Alan is very professional, very organized and a very effective communicator. He made sure throughout that we were on the same page. Alan is very straight forward and he efficiently gets to the point of matters. Most importantly, if something was not black and white, he stated as such. Kelley was my second attorney in Maryland during my divorce after I had to fire my first attorney. My first experience with a family law attorney did not go well; I was very guarded after having to fire my first attorney and my expectations were not high. Kelley completely turned around this view for me. She was competent, professional, hard working, and advocated for my rights. My divorce was heading in the wrong direction and she brought this back in line for me. The court decides what is fair, but Kelley was able to craft my separation agreement into something that I felt favorable about. I definitely believe I am flourishing today, and part of that was with her help. Highly recommend her.

Facing a divorce can be daunting, scary and stressful – it certainly was for me – and finding the right lawyer is absolutely crucial when you need to work out a solution that works when you find yourself in a place in life where you hardly can think straight for yourself.
I consider myself very lucky to have found Kelley after a lengthy search. Trusting her to represent me in my divorce proved to be one of the best decisions I made.
I would describe Kelley as a no-nonsense, straight to the point, extremely knowledgeable and professional divorce lawyer. I spent way more time and effort to select my divorce lawyer than I ever did to choose my (now ex) husband. I did extensive online research. I read tons of testimonials. I even listened to divorce podcasts and took notes.
On paper, Geraldine Hess stood out among the other divorce lawyers I considered because she is Fellow of the Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML), and her practice is 100% focused on family law.
In practice, Geraldine Hess ended up being an advocate I could TRUST to help me navigate through one of the worst times in my life.
I liked working with Geraldine because she was always tactful and professional, but at the same time, she never sugar coated anything or tip toed around difficult things that needed to be said or done. I loved that she was so straightforward and honest, while also being fair and kind.
I also really appreciated how tough Geraldine was, both mentally and emotionally. I don’t mean that she was a junk yard bull dog with a spiked collar and a loud bark. I mean that nothing surprised her or shocked her or threw her off her game. If my husband had set himself on fire while on the witness stand, Geraldine would probably have to stifle a yawn.
Beyond that, Geraldine was organized, reliable, and responsive, as were her assistants. She ran a tight ship, and I knew that she would never let anything fall through the cracks.
During my divorce, I ended up needing a criminal lawyer and then a contract lawyer. Geraldine referred me to two excellent attorneys who were both trustworthy and excellent in their fields.
Geraldine Hess has my highest recommendation. I hope never to get divorced again, but if I did, I would call Geraldine right away.

The short version:
If you need a family law attorney, go to Geraldine. She is smart, dedicated, no nonsense (but still kind), will keep you well informed and quickly and fully responds to questions. Bottom line, she takes care of business and does so extremely efficiently.
The long (yet still shortened) version:
My spouse and I decided to get divorced and started off with the collaborative divorce process. As the collaborative process neared completion, my spouse terminated the collaborative process despite the advice of counsel and a mutual divorce coach.
Shortly after terminating the collaborative process, my spouse hired a new attorney and filed for divorce while making many false and vicious accusations along with unreasonable and upsetting requests to the court. I obtained a new family law attorney/law group and a very contentious process ensued. After many months, not much progress had been made and my attorneys were convinced that settling outside of court was not likely. My attorneys therefore significantly increased their retainer and informed me that they would have to withdraw from my case if I was unable to pay the new retainer. At this point I had amassed a significant amount of debt and could not afford the amount they requested. They withdrew from my case. I was at a complete loss for what to do. I was financially destroyed, the emotional stress of the past year and a half was taking its toll on me and I didn’t know where to turn.
Then I found Geraldine and retained her services. Almost immediately the tone of the process changed and I felt like progress was being made. Geraldine quickly got up to speed with my case and hit the ground running. She laid out the options and scenarios, explained what she was thinking and why and developed a strategy for moving forward. She kept me fully informed and answered any questions I had every step of the way. A few months after Geraldine came on board, my case was settled and with an outcome that was significantly better than what I was expecting and better than previous offers made to my spouse which had been turned down.
Having the unfortunate, and likely uncommon, experience of working with multiple family law attorneys, I can say that Geraldine is awesome at her job! She did much more for me than any prior attorney in a fraction of the time and at a fraction of the cost.
I never write reviews. However, felt compelled to write one for Geraldine as 1) a way to acknowledge and thank her for a job very well done and 2) to hopefully help others out there who find themselves going through a divorce. It is not fun. It is not easy. However, having the right attorney makes a world of difference.

Geraldine became my lawyer in 1996. She attempted to settle my case, which involved child support, child custody, and property settlement, amicably. However, my former spouse made things extremely difficult. Geraldine recognized that we would need to change the strategy for my case, and she made the change seamlessly. She represented me well, which resulted in my being awarded primary custody of my children. She also ensured that I was able to maintain my retirement savings (my former spouse had depleted his after our separation, and he wanted half of mine). My former spouse took me to Court twice after our divorce to reduce the amount of child support he was paying. I retained Geraldine for both of those cases and found her to be just as thorough as she had been during my divorce. My case has been closed for some time now, but I still consult with Geraldine as needed. Geraldine is smart, meticulous, honest, knowledgeable, and accessible, and I strongly recommend her to anyone who needs a divorce attorney.

I hired Amanda after having a terrible experience with another attorney. Due to my previous experience, I vetted her carefully and had an initial face-to-face consultation where I was able to evaluate her. I was pleasantly surprised by how clearly she assessed my case. Jeff Kaplan is by far the best attorney!!! My husband has been in back forth custody disputes for almost 10years, and has had his fair share of different attorneys, but when Jeff became his attorney, it was a complete game changer. He worked with us even on weekends. Via texting, in person, and emailing if needed. Don’t assume that if you get an attorney through Legal Aide that you won’t get excellent results, because this clearly wasn’t the case. My husband gained full sole custody of my stepdaughter fighting a really ugly custody dispute. Jeff works a lot of different cases, but he made time to help us win our case. I would DEFINITELY recommend him to anyone looking to win!

Christina played an huge role, in a life changing decision for me recently. My situation involved custody and child support issues. I've been dealing with my ex for a few years, and she was unwilling to give me joint physical custody, and even though my ex makes more money than me, she was still getting a substantial amount of money for child support from me. I searched for a decent lawyer, and low and behold I found a good one. Christina has great knowledge of the law system, she's very easy to talk with, and she is very organized. Recommended by the neighbor, Mr. Cooke took on our case after my fiance met with him. Mr. Cooke heard the true and complicated situation my fiance found himself in. I was so confident in the competency of Mr. Cooke that I went ahead and purchased baseball tickets for a date after the hearing. My fiance could have gone to jail for a few years based on his record, but somehow Mr. Cooke's presence and knowledge prevented that. My fiance didn't go to jail because justice prevailed on Mr. Cooke's side. He is a great lawyer. Prayers answered, justice served, and life rolls on.

Doug helped guide me through a very complicated custody battle against one of the big family law firms (Delaney McKinney) with both honesty and knowledge, and did it with the utmost efficiency and organization. My custody fight was much longer than I had anticipated but Doug explained each step of the process to me and allowed me to present the type of case that both fit my personality, my parenting style and my income. I wanted to both thoughtfully and firmly defend my rights as a parent, while making sure that during our year long trial, we always respected my spouse, and most importantly didn't do anything which could ever adversely effect my children. I was blindsided by the separation paperwork. Obviously my Ex had put time and effort into getting a head start on the divorce and had hired a very good & aggressive divorce lawyer. I contacted equally rated lawyers but most were too ready to start spending $$$ rather than see if an amicable solution could be worked out. But my initial consultation/call with Kari was different. She (and Ann-Marie) were just as interested in me as the case. They worked with me and tried to do things my way - but - were very clear to point out that I was allowing myself to be bullied by my Ex and her lawyer. Wanting to minimize impact on our young adult children, my wife and myself I let myself be pressured into several bad decisions. Kari informed me why the decisions were bad and was willing to bring in other lawyers from her office for their opinions. Fortunately she slowed the process long enough for me to realize the mistakes I was making. Number 1 lesson learned: Listen to your lawyer. The next year and a half was total insanity. While I was a wreck, Kari was able to handle all the nonsense from my Ex's lawyer. Case went to court and the trial lasted three days. While Kari was very competent with managing the process and deflecting the crap from my Ex and her lawyer - She was on an entirely different level in court. Her questioning of my wife left no doubt to the judge who was primarily responsible for the failure of the family. Kari's closing statement caught me by surprise - hearing the cold hard facts reiterated and the emotion in her voice as she detailed the hell me and the kids endured. The judgment was definitely in my favor.

She worked above and beyond my expectations. She was very informative every step of the way and did not make false promises. She works very well under pressure and gets the job done. The first thing that comes to mind when I think of Kari Fawcett in a divorce case is that she is super intelligent when it comes to law (she has been an attorney for many years), she is super nice and down to earth plus she is not playing around and has 0 tolerance for any bullshit or lies from the opposing side. She is a very aggressive attorney and she knows what she is doing and she will fully have your back on everything. Ms. Fawcett's partner, Ann-Marie Dunn is also super nice, sweet, extremely competent with the law and is a very hard worker. They both worked on my case together, and I call them "The Dynamic Duo." I truly believe, as in my case, that if you retain "The Dynamic Duo," you will have double the power of one attorney, you will have access to talking over the phone with one of them at any given time if the other one is in court, and you will have the superb chance of winning your case. They are definitely aggressive, which is why I retained Kari Fawcett in the first place. My case is over now and we won, but I feel so close to these lovely ladies, that I will be staying in touch with them on a monthly basis just to keep them in my life. I love these 2 attorneys. God forbid if I ever have another divorce, I would definitely, no hesitation, retain Kari Fawcett again and again. I worked with Marc for months and I couldn’t have had a better lawyer. I was fighting for custody of my kid and his mother hired a really sleazy lawyer that tried to manipulate her and the facts of the case to take my visitation away. I really felt like Marc cared about me and my rights as a father and it showed in court. It was a horrible process to go through but Marc was easy to talk to and I always felt more comfortable going into court.
