In my divorce we actually had different court appearances and a trial that lasted about three days. I am writing to share my deeply disappointing experience with McKinley Irvin, particularly with Courtney Bellio, who I had the unfortunate chance of working with. My experience was far from what I had expected and, at times, shockingly unprofessional.
Courtney Bellio, handled my family law case, and I was left feeling misrepresented and frustrated. Throughout my case, communication was a constant issue. Courtney Bellio took over two weeks to respond to important emails, leaving me in the dark during critical stages of the process. This lack of timely and accurate communication made an already stressful situation much worse. Additionally, there never seemed to be a clear strategy for my case, and at times, I as the client had to step in to direct the strategy, which should never happen.

Jim never followed up with my ex after he sent out the General Judgment to be signed and delivered to the courts, which resulted in my divorce never happening. I signed and assumed everything was sealed and delivered. It wasn't until many months later that my ex said she never signed. I am now dealing with lawyers to finalize my divorce. Jim left me in one of the most painful and complicated scenarios I have ever had to navigate in my life. He has totally 'checked out' from his work and is obviously cruising untill he fully retires. Avoid at all costs.

Tabitha Brincat and her entire team did a phenomenal job for my stressful divorce/custody case. We worked together for 10 months and throughout the entire time I had nothing but the absolute best care! She is focused, friendly, incredibly competent, and knew every detail of my complicated case the whole time. The only thing worse than a custody battle is a custody battle throughout Covid. The courts were a nightmare and the process was so broken. With all of that said, Jonathan Corey guided me through it with poise, grace, patience, and professionalism. Without his guidance I cannot imagine how I would have gotten through it all. I started my divorce process in mid 2020, what a time to have to go through this process. But I don't think there's really a "good" time for such a thing.
The original attorney I teamed up with at the beginning of my divorce, Myah Kehoe (Kehoe Moneyhun Law, LLC) which I recommend as well. That attorney recommended a handful of attorneys based on the particulars of my case. After consulting with each of these attorneys, I decided upon Jennifer (Jenny) Eadie and I'm glad I made that decision. My case was protracted (likely due to the pandemic), involving a non-responsive other party, and a lack of willingness to compromise. Without Westbrook I would be sitting in prison tonight. I have worked with her for over a year on my case and when I say that, what I mean is: she has dealt with me for over a year and worked on my case.
Westbrook is the definition of left field, she comes up with stuff out of no where that makes you feel stupid for never thinking of yourself. In my year with her I definitely thought I finally had an idea of what sort of attorney she was and how she operates. NOPE! She suits up for court and it’s as if you hired a whole different woman! There were times in that court room I’d sworn I saw a cape around her. This woman is absolutely amazing and I owe my life to her, if I ever get falsely accused again there is no one else I would ever go to. EVER. If I moved across the country I’d make her get licensed there just to be my defense again.
I gave this poor woman absolute hell for things that had nothing to do with her at times and yet she’d be up until 3am working on my case. She can seem a bit unorthodox but let me assure you there is a method to her madness and you do not want to be the one going against her in a court room because she works in the most unpredictable ways and then suddenly brings it all together and by the time you realize what she did it’s already over. Three years ago I was wrongfully convicted of crimes I did not commit. After winning an appeal I was assigned Westbrook. I was a problem client, I did not wanna wave my sixty day speedy trial rights to give her more time to work on my case all I saw was the thirty months I had been wrongfully imprisoned. Westbrook did her best and actually won my case and got me released from custody. After watching my previous attorney just roll over and show his belly during the first trial, it was refreshing just to see Westbrook fight, veraciously for my rights, to defend me with a tenacity of someone who honestly cares about doing their very best. I've worked with Dan and his firm on a couple of family law occasions and he was highly responsive, professional, and overall very reasonable for the value provided. Any custody case can be difficult, but with a narcissist you will be in for one of the most painful, stressful and expensive rides of your life. I knew I needed the best. I chose Dan - after meeting with several attorneys - because he actively listened to my needs and wants and responded intelligently. He also didn’t just tell me what I wanted to hear. His view was informed and balanced. I knew, no matter how willing I was to compromise, I was in for a battle. I needed an attorney who would take the high road but would also be aggressive when need be. Dan is honest, seasoned and smart. I am extremely happy with my decision to work with him and with the job he has done representing me.
Dan zeroed in on the immediate significant issues for me and my small child, as well as the future I wanted to build for us. After many years of squabbling with a narcissist and getting lost in crazy-making circles of disagreement with no resolution, I needed a plan in writing that we both agreed to. I got that and I was pleased with it. It took a lot of negotiation (because the other side created barriers) but in the end it was well worth it.
Dan also did an excellent job of distinguishing the limits of the law. Many times he encouraged compromise where appropriate and he repeatedly encouraged me to only pursue what a judge would uphold. Throughout my case he was an advocate and helped me avoid court for some time. However, in the end, because of the other side, it was unavoidable. Dan was incredibly well prepared for the trial, and he did a phenomenal job. He argued fairly and intelligently; he is a quick thinker and he didn’t miss a beat. We were successful on every single issue. This outcome makes an enormous impact on my child’s life. I would definitely want to work with him in the future and I have already recommended him to friends and colleagues.
Dan has decades of experience. He is also empathetic and has fair billing practices. Top-notch professional and decent human.

Jeremiah was amazing, helping me with every part of my case. From my initial consultation I knew he was trustable, as he tried to assist me with resolving the matter on my own, saving time and money, which would have prevented him from gaining a client.
