I recently needed legal representation for a custody trial and was referred to Christian Lapham. After one conversation with Christian, I was confident that this was the attorney that I wanted to represent me. He is a brilliant attorney who focuses on the best interest of your child and handles family manners with unmatched empathy and professionalism. Christian is passionate about his work, and that became increasingly apparent to me as my trial date approached. Although Christian is a proven litigator, he focuses on finding the best solution for you and your family. He is assertive and will be firm when necessary. I appreciated that Christian maintained his composure during emotional conversations with the opposition. I genuinely believe his demeanor and consistency is what drove us to a negotiated result.
As far as cost, yes, Christian is expensive. However, the process of negotiating for time with my child was scary and unnerving, and having the support of Christian throughout was invaluable. He is efficient with his time and is fair with his billing. I appreciated that he took the time to explain the billing process to me, avoiding surprises at the end of the month. All of the colleagues I worked with were bright, passionate, and knowledgeable. I felt confident having the backing of a full and qualified legal team.

Christian Lapham of Bean, Kinney and Korman, was my divorce attorney. He came recommended from our marriage counselor who worked with him on some Divorce Options workshops in Northern Virginia. Christian was an outstanding advocate for me from the beginning of the divorce process to the end (formal decree) and even beyond that. He is organized, smart, tenacious, and perhaps most important to me, a great counselor during a time I needed it most, providing guidance, wisdom and support. I felt he provided excellent value, and that become apparent throughout my divorce proceedings, especially in contrast to my ex’s attorney. He also had an impressive understanding of the Fairfax County court system and was very familiar with its judges and workings. I also want to comment on his character: Christian is fair, honest, and kind – not the attributes you typically associate with a great attorney. If you need a top notch family lawyer, I would recommend Christian without any reservation whatsoever.

I was going through a bad separation/divorce in 2010 and I needed an attorney ASAP. I looked around the internet and posted what I was looking for in an attorney on a website.
Christian immediately emailed me and said he could help me out with my situation. The minute I met him, I knew I hit the lottery with him as my attorney. Christian is such a calming presence and assured me he would take care of my stress and make sure that I would not be bullied by me ex's attorney. Off and on, my divorce and custody battle went on for a few years! Each time, Christian was there and had my back. My Ex's attorney was a very difficult person to deal with and very irrational and emotional at times as well. This behavior allowed my attorney (Christian) to come out with a favorable outcome when it came to my custody issue. His recommendation on having my young son testify in my custody battle was key to me having 50-50 split shared custody. While always calling a child to testify is a calculated risk, Christian felt good about it with the Judge that would oversee the trial. Christian also made excellent choices for me when it came to my divorce. His recommendation on a small buyout of my ex in return for her leaving my retirement alone and forfeiting her ability to ever come back to me for anything in the future was the BEST decision I ever made. I didn't think that at the time, but he assured me it was in my best interest seeing how vindictive my ex is. The end result? Christian was correct!
Whenever I had needed Christian, he's always been there for me. He has become more than just "my attorney" He has become a true friend and someone that I consider family. He is so kind, considerate and his integrity is what makes him an outstanding attorney.
While I hope I never go through anything like this ever again, I know that I can rely and count on Christian if I ever need him again in the future. He's a great person and an excellent attorney!

He is a nice person. But if you want someone who will fight for you in my own opinion he won’t. Very hard to reach at important times. Overall let me down on my case. Again very nice and respectful to his CLIENTS; however he has no problem telling you” plead guilty and pray for mercy” after months of saying everything is fine. All I wanted was a fair trial. I asked for a jury over 3xs some how I walked into court with a bench trial. Complicated cases is not his strong point and instead of passing it on to another lawyer, he’ll try gambling your freedom. Really let me down didn’t even put in a motion of discovery he was listening to audios off of the commonwealths computer. That he never heard which where played at each level I’ve been to in court! Didn’t even have the correct dates being used against me. On top of all that was rude to my witnesses and NEVER spoke to them and this was my appeal trial. Set me up for pure failure.

Robert Dain is the best lawyer in this area. He is a seasoned legal professional, experienced and extremely knowledgeable in all aspects of the law. Well respected in the courts, and held in high regard, Mr. Dain is fair and honest, humble -- all while committing himself to his clients' best interest in their case. I swiftly moved my divorce case to Mr. Dain after realizing my "family law" junior attorney was not making any traction, unfriendly and one who pandered to the OC. Mr. Dain is savvy and simply genuine. He had my best interest and that of my children at the forefront, in advocating for me. He had to work quickly to undo the former attorney's lack of detail for an upcoming deposition. It was amazing how quickly Mr. Dain got up to speed; asking all of the right questions, to my now ex-husband. We settled and did not go to court yet Mr. Dain was prepared in the event the opposing team would not cooperate. Most importantly in the interest of my children, we did not wish to subject them to that hostile environment. I look forward to working with Mr. Dain in the future regarding estate issues and perhaps, follow-up with my divorce case. Robert (Bob) Dain and his partners at his firm handled my case (foreclosure resulting in subrogation claim filing Breach of Contract) in a professional manner and I didn't feel like he was 'riding the clock' so to speak on my case. EXPERIENCE MATTERS.... The plaintiff in my case was hoping for easy picking but Bob and his firm was able to blow it out of the water causing the Plaintiff Attorney to request a non-suit (Dismissal without Prejudice).
If you have a $90K problem you need a GOOD attorney and I would not hesitate to counsel Bob and his firm again for cases in Virginia.

Mrs. Boone was the only lawyer that listened to the details of my case and was willing to fight for child custody and argue a fault divorce. The other lawyers were more focused on how to divide financial assets. I needed a lawyer that felt I had a case and was willing to work for me, and not just do the easy stuff. Mrs. Boone did an amazing job proving inconsistencies in my ex's depositions, fighting for child custody, and sole use of the marital home during the PL hearing. The two opposing counsels that my ex hired were no match for Mrs. Boone. Although Mrs. Boone tried to avoid going to trial, she had no choice, and she was prepared for war. I was in awe of how well prepared she was in comparison to opposing counsel. I am so thankful to the lawyer that referred me to Mrs. Boone because she was too busy to take my case. This lawyer likes to represent good dads.

Over a year ago I began one of the hardest journeys I have ever walked!! Fighting for custody in the state of Virginia as a father is a lot more difficult than you could ever imagine. Throughout the process I had 3 attorneys. By the time I got to Mike I had almost lost all hope. He was very knowledgeable in the entire process and he was very patient with me. He spent more time and effort than the other two attorneys combined. He was extremely helpful with making me aware of the entire process, and gave stellar advise that eventually allowed the final win for my son!! He was very attentive to my case and clearly worked with passion. I would recommend him a million times over!! I was faced with a family law issue where I could have represented myself. The matter was fairly cut and dried and I was concerned that hiring an attorney would be "overkill". As a business owner I have had to represent myself several times in small claims court and am not intimidated by legal matters. Ultimately I hired Matthew and he did a wonderful job representing me. Family court is very different from small claims and his presence was well worth the cost. If you are on the fence about hiring an attorney or representing yourself, I can not urge you enough to err on the side of caution and strongly consider Mr. Falwell as your legal representation. He was professional and competent in every aspect.

Mr. Falwell was very capable throughout my traffic violation case. From start to finish he was as easily accessible and flexible as advertised; he works to fit your schedule and is comfortable with correspondence over distance. Mr. Falwell has extensive knowledge of traffic law and how to go about getting the infraction reduced to a much lower penalty, which was the outcome in my case. With regards to his personality, I found him to be an honest and kind individual and would highly recommend him.

Over the last 30 years Mr. Basnight has been my attorney and has advised me on a number of legal issues and has represented me on a number of legal issues throughout the past 30 years.
He is currently my attorney for my divorce and has advise me on this issue on this matters. He thinks outside the box and try to find a way to pull a rabbit out of the hat. I decided to reach out and ultimately hire Ms. Pervaiz after receiving positive feedback from a friend. I am extremely happy with my decision because Ms. Pervaiz was very supportive and professional from beginning to end. At the time, I was in a very tight bind and conflicted on what to do next after reading about consequences that were levied on others in a similar situation to my own.
I knew that I wanted to hire Ms. Pervaiz after the initial consultation because she was confident and provided me assurance right away. She had handled similar cases in the past that yielded positive results so I was much more comfortable after reading all the horror stories online. After the initial consultation, she gave me a list of documents to obtain so she can review, understand, and fully assess my case.
After I sent over the documents, Ms. Pervaiz made herself available every day until my actual court date. This really put me at ease knowing that I could always reach out anytime I had any questions. I only called a few times mainly to ensure she had everything she needed but the initial checklist she gave me covered it all.
On the actual court date, we agreed to meet early to go over any final questions and to explain the process in the courtroom. She made it really easy for me as she did all of the talking. She laid out potential scenarios, explained the details of each situation, and asked what outcome I would prefer.
The case ended in a favorable outcome for which I am extremely grateful. I would gladly hire Ms. Pervaiz again and have recommended her to others.

Claudia saved my life! I met her at one of the lowest points in my life. My husband at the time left me with 2 kids, no family and/or financial assistance. I was far away from home. I entered in a custody battle, asking for joint legal/physical custody, with no intentions of hiring a lawyer. I was lost, scared, and had no idea of what to do so I met with Mr. Habib for a consult. From the moment I met with him, he was very direct and to the point and I hired him. He never gave me false hope, did not lie, or hide anything. Mr. Habib would advise me of his professional opinion and then ask me what I wanted to do, so he did everything with what I wanted in mind. I am not very good speaking in court and I messed up with my words and he was able to fix my mess up. The GAL was against joint legal/physical custody and its very hard to convince the judge to rule against the GAL and Mr. Habib was able to persuade the judge that what I was asking for was in the best interest of my son. After trial, there was an appeal, before the appeal we were came to an agreement and part of that agreement was to withdrawal the appeal and when the other party did not follow through with their part of the agreement, Mr. Habib withdrew our part of the agreement in order to turn their hand to get them to follow through with their part of the agreement. Mr. Habib is a very intelligent lawyer and is very good at what he does. I would recommend him to anyone that is in need of a custody lawyer. He does everything he says and goes far and beyond to get things done. In the end, I got what I asked for and what my child needed, joint legal/physical custody without either party paying child support. Thank you so much for helping me get through something that means so much and that was so hard and scary.

Sarah Patras was our attorney in a Family case where a lot of paperwork was involved and a lot of serious issues and inaccurate information needed to be addressed. My divorce took almost 3 years and included such fun items as a retired National Guard officer who refused to work, sued for spousal support, refused to pay child support, had a significant problem with alcoholism, voluntarily unemployed himself to reduce child support payments, and who hired incompetent lawyers. Throughout it all, Mr. Butler was the epitome of calm, cool and collected. He held my hand when it was needed, was a shark in the court room, and got me what I needed in the divorce to ensure my children were taken care of and that I wasn’t taken advantage of.
In a time of uncertainty and chaos that was my life after my ex-husband and I separated, Ted was the one stable person I had working on my side to make sure I didn't make any costly errors in judgment based on emotion instead of logic.
His staff is top notch and worked together so that my costs were minimized…even when my ex-husband tried to do everything in his power to run up my legal bills.
