I was referred to this attorney by one of his assistants thats a friend of mine. She was so helpful and was really up to date with my case. She also passed me on to the girl who was in charge of my case. The girl speaks very fast but she was wonderful and very accurate. I wanted more money than what was settled for, but sometimes we think our "case" is worth more than it really is. I want to thank not only the attorney Ruiz I want to thank the staff at the law office because although it took a little long, the results were great.

I was a little weary of this attorney since some of the reviews weren't great, but my neighbor had great results so I trusted in the offices of John H. Ruiz. Since I went to the first meeting his personnel were all very helpful. I didn't meet with him directly at first, but he did come around and was informed of my situation.... Needless to say I did not lose my home of over 25 years to Bank of America. we won and I could not be happier with the result.

I wanted to do a loan modification at the time that the market went belly up. I was advised by this firm not to continue paying my mortgage in order to show hard ship. Instead, I had to pay them on a monthly bases. I was advised that bank of america would be willing to forgive the upside down on the pay off and life would be great. Not only was that a bold face lie, but I ended up in the worst situation. The bank implemented a forced placed insurance that cost about $11K a year, also they did not forgive one single penny from the time we stopped paying the mortgage. Some in about a 2 and half year time frame, the bank added about $200K to my original balance that was about $330K. So now I owe over $515K and this peace of work attorney that claims he is the best in the industry, turned his back once I got the loan modification papers. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON SOMETHING YOU CAN DO DIRECTLY WITH YOUR BANK.

“Attorney” Hancock in the end did so little for me. I initially thought I did good in hiring this firm then came to realize that he and his staff are just “nice” but so incompetent as to their legal duties. His staff lacks knowledge. He is not realistic nor did he fight for my case! If you are seeking legal help you would be better off going with an legal intern rather then this office.

I was in an automobile accident a few years ago and I was extremely pleased with the service I received from Metnick Levy & Dyson's law firm. The staff was phenomenal and the attorneys were great! I was kept abreast of any new updates throughout my case. I never felt like the office didn't care about my case. Mr. Dyson was honest with me from the time my file was transferred to him. He would ask me if I had any questions or concerns regarding my case. My calls were always answered or returned in a timely manner. Mr. Dyson took the time to listen and answer my questions. Also, I was always contacted anytime defense counsel presented an offer. My case settled and I was pleased with the settlement. He is a highly competent attorney and I would seek the services of his firm again. I couldn't have chosen a better law firm!

Mr. Dyson represented me and was a horrible attorney. He was verbally abusive toward me, lied and boasted he would get me a large settlement but did not. He blamed it on me saying my case wasn’t any good after representing me for more than 2 years. He sent me to doctors that inflated my costs and were a joke. He made me pay for a mediation to sit for hours to get the same same settlement I did. I basically paid for him to have lunch. He added extra costs to a case that he took willingly which he thought was no good. Further his fees were more than what I received for my settlement. There are many other honest attorneys to hire that aren’t just out for money and treat people like this. I am more upset that I was lied to and treated poorly than my settlement.

He never really wanted to take the case. The majority of cases he handles deal with family law, not Personal Injury. Mr. Fields didn't want to work, as the case is not an easy one because there are multiple Defendants. Basically called us liars and treated us with little respect and a great deal of suspicion. He didn't inform us that they (LaBovick & LaBovick) were dropping us as clients, we had to find out when we arrived for a procedure from the staff at the surgical center.

In my initial consultation with Michael Long I explained that I had a dispute with a pool contractor who caused considerable damage to my property while installing a swimming pool and then placed a lien on my property after I refused to pay them in full without an offset for at least part of the damage they caused. Mr Long was upfront and explained that I likely had an uphill battle due to the one-sided contract that I signed, however, after meeting with him and making him aware that I had all documentation, receipts, photographs to substantiate the damages caused, he indicated he had numerous prior dealings with the attorney representing the contractor and would do his very best to help me. In order to get a sense of the legal costs I might be facing, during the initial consultation I asked him to give me a range of what my legal expenses might be and he indicated they would likely be in the ballpark of the $1,500 retainer as long as court appearances and filing/answering lawsuits were not involved. I agreed. In the end (no court appearances or lawsuits were involved), I wound up settling this matter for THE FULL AMOUNT the pool contractor originally wanted, plus paying his firm $3,000.00 for their legal fees. There was zero benefit to me in hiring Michael Long. In the end, he did absolutely nothing to help me. Needless to say, I would not recommend this attorney or his firm Brewer Long.

I'm an attorney who can be somewhat demanding. But on the advice of my best friend, who was a former client of Michael Long, I reached out to him to handle a sensitive issue connected to my employment contract in effect at that time. Michael was incredibly efficient and delivered an answer I could depend on in very little time. He took even less time than I expected and helped me understand what I *could* do -- but even more importantly, offered me advice on what I *should* do. If I or a firend had a similar problem, I would recommend him without hesitation.

After a 30 minute telephone consultation with this attorney, he stated he would call me back within 24 hours to provide me with the legal assistance that he claimed he had within "fingertip distance concerning thousands of attorneys" that could help with the issues I had brought to his attention. After I waited over a week for his return call that never took place, I made several calls to his office for him to return my calls. He has never returned my calls. Due to the failure of Reed not to call me back as he stated he would and his failure to return my several calls I would not recommend to anyone to retain him in any capacity. The above facts clearly make this a negative experience for myself due to I have not received any legal assistance at all from Reed or anyone else.

I have hired John Salcedo to manage many of my claims, I was doing bsuiness with hom for around 3-4 years . I hired him again for one of my customer's claims because it was denied by the insurance company. It took around 3 years to have it settled. My estimate was for $53,482.72 and he got without never ask me $25,000.00 only. Not only that, but he NEVER call me , NOBODY from his office call me. They have my cellphone number for so long, they have my cellphone numebr in the estimaye that they were using everytime thet were talking to the insurance company. On top of all this, the check didn;t have my company's name on it, anf now 3 months after John Salcedo sent the check direclty to the customer, my customer spend the money. My email was full of stoarge and waht of a coincidence that they said they coudn't communicate with me on that month. Now, I have $0.00 of a job that cost me more than the $25,000 , the customer got free money ., $25,000.00! NOBODY CALLED ME . I would never use this firm and I'm going to make sure that all my Colleagues know about it so they don;t hire him.

I wish somebody told me before-hand but apparently the "large" firms are known for running up bills. With no major court days, or other big expenses they ran up $20,000 in a month on me without notifying me. I wish I was rich. The service was great. But when you give a retainer of $5000 and they do that I think it's unethical. Now I'm told that's what big firms do. I wish somebody would have told me. I would rather leave a NEGATIVE review for SHUTTS & BOWEN b/c my beef is no so much with Eirc but I can't. This is more for information about this firm than a bad review for Mr. Adams.

These are my brother’s words I hired Eulo&Smith in April 2024 to cover my 2023 & 2024 Polk Case as well as my 2024 VOP in Hillsbough. I met Marie taylor who charged me $3000 for my VOP and 2024 Cass. I also Paid her $10,000 plus 1.5x totaling to $15,000 for my 2023 Polk case. She came to meet me and told me things that she was not able to do. She promised alot that did not come. She ignored me and my family for weeks. She missed both of my court dates as well as missed promises to come see me. I was told in July 2024 that she quit the law firm. I was then appointed Ms. Shannon Bailey which works for Eulo&Smith who constantly ignored my family again as well as her client, me, in jail. She made promsies to come see me and never came. In the past 6 months, I've only seen attoneys who were fill ins from the law firm on my last 4 manditory doctetings. The judge was livid as it does not take 6 months to articulate a deal that was supposed to be settled. Eulo&Smith took on too many cases according to Ms. Bailey and they're not able to keep up. I'm being foreced into taking a deal or going to trial in 3 weeks becasue this law firm has not reached out to me but only once about my case details and to make matters worse, the lawyer to heard them quit, Ms. Taylor. I have had chance court date after court date for someone to come out here and see me as i write this from a Kiosk. I have no way to contact my attorney except for my family as they're being ignored. I told a fill in from my court date that i paid 1.5x for better and priorty service and the employee, which I'm assuming is from the Orlando office, that there is no such thing as 1.5x or priorty service. I was told from Bailey that taylor took on too many clients and quit which I'm assuming she did to get paid and left.

Back in 2011, Mr. Garcia represented me in a case where I was accused of cashing a forged check. The person I worked for scammed me by paying me with the bad check. It wasn't until a year later that I found that out when I had to suffer the embarrassment of being arrested and then extradited to Florida. I was scared and had heard a lot of bad stories about public defenders. But I was innocent and wanted my day in court. On the day of trial the prosecutor said he was going to ask for jail if I lost and even the judge said I could go to prison. I've never even been in trouble with the law before this! I don't think I would have gone through with it if my lawyer hadn't seemed so calm (showing me the law he was going to use helped too!). Mr. Garcia was much better prepared than the prosecutor. The judge ended up dismissing the case. Because of this man I got to keep my freedom, my good name and a felony off of my record.

I had a contract dispute case that Mr. Garcia took on contingency. A few weeks or so into the case he got an opportunity with a larger establishment and told me he wanted to drop me to give his time and attention to them. I ask that he not do this as at that point it would be extremely difficult for me to start over, to which he threaten that he would take me to court if I did not dismiss the case to release him. I didn't even know that lawyers could do that and speaking to the FL Bar Assoc it seemed like there was nothing I could do. Since it would be silly to hire a lawyer to go to court against my current lawyer, which in doing, would not help me with my original case, I dismissed it. As I had already paid Mr. Garcia funds I was unable to get another lawyer for my original case and as such never resolved that and am out thousands of dollars to this day.

David Cauthen staff miswrote my QDRO (401K) Settlement, it was suppose to be 50% (acquired during the marriage) and I was only award 18%. With no response to communication for over 18 months. QDRO communicated the direction to correct the error, again no response. It was sent to judge for signature without my signature. My divorce took over 3.5 years as we split acreage I needed to get access (easement) to the parcel I was keeping, today I am land locked with no access. I have a small herd of Black Angus Cows which need to be feed and attended to. I've lost my 1st calf (in 13 years), and the cows busted a water pipe on the barn and now I have paid over 500 in electric bills. And most likely my well is shot. I took a boat across lake to access the property. I have documentation that I came with all the money (from real estate) to purchase and develop land. This attorney got me no financial support (I was injured during marriage). David Cauthen is nothing but a quick settlement lawyer. He does not work for his clients needs. I hired Attorney Daniel Pilka to represent me in a lawsuit filed against me for HOA Attorney fees. I told Attorney Pilka since day 1, that I have limited resources, as a homeowner. Each month, Mr. Pilka send me billings that show excessive phone calls, that he says he made to the Plaintiff and the other defendant's attorneys. Mind you there was practically no activity on the case for the entire year I retained his services. I send him emails telling not to waste my resources on phone calls. In frustration, I terminated his services after I exhausted $4300+ and he informed me that he couldn't guarantee me a win unless I pay him more resourses$$. As it turns out, after I terminated Attorney Pilka, he sent me an email advising me that during his Motion to terminate as my Attorney, the judge advised that I was not at fault, and did not owe the Plaintiff any attorney fees as they claimed. Attorney Pilka is very knowledgeable in HOA matters, but I wouldn't recommend him to individual homeowners who have limited resources, as his billings are extremely high, he would be a better fit with a Community Association.

Willie Walker is very unprofessional. I don’t know if he’s trying to take my settlement or if he can do that but it has been over a year and I have yet to receive correspondence, return calls or emails. When I do finally talk to him he claims that he had just gotten off of the phone with the adjuster and they’re offering an astronomical LOW amount of money to settle. To me that’s a red flag. A good attorney keeps you informed as to what is going on with your case step by step. He has done nothing. I’m wondering if he’s in cahoots with my medical adjuster because he won’t return my call either. I’ve dealt with several attorneys and I’ve NEVER experienced one like this. My entire experience with this guy is horrible. It’s like pulling teeth to come to get him to come up with somewhat of a pleasable settlement. I wouldn’t refer him to my worst enemy.

Terrible horrible service. We hired Katie for a small matter of a few hundred thousand dollars and she was by far the worst attorney we have ever worked with. To say she is unresponsive is an understatement. Numerous emails and phone calls would go unanswered for weeks at a time, followed by weak excuses. She simply does not respond, nor does her staff. She does however, bill very promptly. When we told her we were going to take our case elsewhere, she gave us a solemn promise that she would be more responsive but there was no change. As a result of her poor responsiveness, the case dragged on for far longer, and cost much more, than it should have. We were very unhappy with Katie Phang and would advise anyone who asks to avoid using her.

I would like to express my experience with Lawyers Title Network. My husband and I signed with them two years ago (year-to-date no house, just dirt on our lot) , with Steel X and Hallmark Home Mortgage. The are accomplice with Steel X home, and they are steeling hundreds of thousands of dollars from innocent families, who have worked very hard to buy their first home. ALEJANDRO MARRIAGA the owner of Lawyers Title Network is a con artist just like Richard Rivera. If you are about to do a closing with this title company, Steel x and any and any bank related to this people, SAVE YOUR SELF A FAVOR AND DONT. They are using the buyers money( deposits and down payments) to pay for commissions and fees instead of going to the bank how it should be. Lawyers Title Network is supposed to have your money in an escrow account which I doubt they do. Do your research and you will find ALEJANDRO MARRIAGA in may lawsuits defending Steel X Homes

What an Insurance Lawyer Can Do for You

An insurance lawyer specializes in legal issues related to insurance policies and claims. These lawyers help individuals, businesses, and insurance companies navigate disputes involving insurance coverage, claim denials, bad faith claims, and policy interpretation. Insurance lawyers can represent policyholders who feel they've been unfairly denied coverage, or they can work on behalf of insurance companies to defend against fraudulent or inflated claims.

Whether you're filing a claim, disputing a denial, or dealing with complex coverage issues, an insurance lawyer can provide critical guidance and legal representation to protect your rights and ensure you receive the benefits you're entitled to under your policy.

When Should I Hire an Insurance Lawyer?

Hiring an insurance lawyer is advisable in several situations, particularly when disputes arise over insurance coverage, claim denials, or bad faith actions. Common reasons to hire an insurance lawyer include:

  • Denied insurance claims: If your insurance company denies your claim, a lawyer can help determine whether the denial was justified or if you should challenge the decision.
  • Bad faith insurance practices: If you believe your insurer has acted in bad faith, such as delaying payment or failing to properly investigate your claim, a lawyer can help you pursue legal action.
  • Underpaid claims: If the insurance company has offered less compensation than you believe your claim is worth, a lawyer can negotiate for a higher payout or file a lawsuit.
  • Coverage disputes: When there's ambiguity or disagreement about what your policy covers, a lawyer can provide clarity and advocate for your rights under the policy.
  • Business insurance claims: If you own a business and are dealing with commercial insurance claims (e.g., property damage, liability, or professional indemnity), a lawyer can help ensure your business receives proper coverage.
  • Third-party claims: If you're being sued for liability and your insurance company refuses to defend or indemnify you, an insurance lawyer can help enforce your coverage rights.
  • Appealing long-term disability claims: If your disability insurance claim has been denied, a lawyer can assist in gathering evidence and appealing the decision to get the benefits you deserve.

What Does an Insurance Lawyer Do?

An insurance lawyer provides a wide range of services to assist with insurance-related legal issues. These can include:

  • Reviewing insurance policies: A lawyer can review your insurance policy to ensure you understand your rights and obligations, as well as clarify what coverage is provided.
  • Filing insurance claims: Assisting with the preparation and filing of claims to ensure all necessary documentation is submitted correctly.
  • Challenging claim denials: If your claim has been denied, a lawyer can investigate the reasons for denial and file appeals or lawsuits to challenge the decision.
  • Litigating bad faith claims: Representing clients in bad faith insurance cases, where the insurer fails to act in good faith by unfairly delaying, denying, or underpaying a valid claim.
  • Negotiating settlements: Helping policyholders negotiate settlements with insurance companies to receive fair compensation for claims.
  • Defending against fraudulent claims: Representing insurance companies to defend against false or exaggerated claims filed by policyholders or third parties.
  • Handling disputes over policy language: Interpreting complex insurance policies and resolving disputes between the insured and the insurer regarding coverage limits, exclusions, and conditions.

How Are Insurance Lawyers Paid?

Insurance lawyers typically charge for their services in different ways, depending on the nature of the case and the type of insurance issue involved. Common payment structures include:

  • Contingency fee: For many policyholders disputing claim denials or underpayments, lawyers work on a contingency basis. This means the lawyer only gets paid if they win or settle the case, taking a percentage (usually between 25% and 40%) of the recovered amount.
  • Hourly rate: For more complex or ongoing legal issues, such as bad faith lawsuits or business insurance disputes, insurance lawyers may charge an hourly rate. This rate varies depending on the lawyer’s experience and location.
  • Flat fee: For simpler matters, such as reviewing an insurance policy or helping file a claim, some lawyers charge a flat fee for their services.
  • Retainer: For businesses or clients with ongoing legal needs, an insurance lawyer may require a retainer fee, which is an upfront payment for future services.

It’s important to clarify the fee structure with your lawyer during the initial consultation to avoid unexpected costs.

How Much Does an Insurance Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring an insurance lawyer depends on the complexity of the case, the lawyer's experience, and the payment structure. General cost estimates include:

  • Contingency fees: If your lawyer works on a contingency fee basis, you won’t pay any fees upfront, but the lawyer will take a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or judgment awarded.
  • Hourly rates: Hourly rates for insurance lawyers generally range from $150 to $500 or more, depending on the lawyer’s experience and location. Complex cases involving bad faith or high-value business claims may require significant hours, leading to higher legal costs.
  • Flat fees: For specific services, such as reviewing an insurance policy, lawyers may charge a flat fee ranging from $500 to $2,500, depending on the complexity of the task.
  • Retainers: Businesses or individuals seeking ongoing insurance legal services may pay a retainer, which can range from $5,000 to $20,000 or more, depending on the lawyer and scope of work.

Make sure to discuss costs and payment structures with your lawyer before proceeding to understand how much the services will cost.

Top Questions to Ask an Insurance Lawyer

Before hiring an insurance lawyer, it’s important to ask the right questions to ensure they are the right fit for your case. Here are key questions to ask:

  1. What experience do you have with insurance law?
Ensure the lawyer has specific experience handling cases involving your type of insurance, whether it’s auto, health, home, or business-related.
  2. How do you charge for your services?
Clarify whether the lawyer works on contingency, hourly rates, or flat fees, and ask for an estimate of the total cost of your case.
  3. What is your success rate with insurance disputes?
Ask about the lawyer’s track record in winning or settling cases similar to yours.
  4. What are my chances of success?
A good lawyer will provide an honest assessment of your case’s strengths and weaknesses and outline the possible outcomes.
  5. How long will the process take?
Get an estimate of how long it will take to resolve your claim or dispute, as some cases can extend over months or even years.
  6. Will you handle my case personally?
In larger firms, junior attorneys or paralegals may handle some aspects of your case. Make sure you know who will be managing your case.

How to Check the Credibility of an Insurance Lawyer

To ensure you’re hiring a reputable insurance lawyer, take the following steps to verify their credentials and experience:

  • Verify their state bar license: Check with your state bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing with no disciplinary actions.
  • Review their experience in insurance law: Look at the lawyer’s website or professional profile to ensure they specialize in insurance law and have experience with cases like yours.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Search for reviews on platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to see what previous clients have said about the lawyer’s expertise and professionalism.
  • Ask for references: A credible lawyer should be able to provide references from past clients who have dealt with similar insurance issues.
  • Check for industry memberships: Membership in organizations like the American Bar Association’s Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section (TIPS) can indicate the lawyer’s focus on insurance law.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most out of your first consultation with an insurance lawyer, come prepared with the following documents and information:

  • A copy of your insurance policy: Bring the policy related to your claim or dispute so the lawyer can review the coverage details.
  • Any correspondence with the insurance company: Provide copies of letters, emails, or other communications between you and your insurer regarding the claim or denial.
  • Proof of claim and supporting documents: Bring any documentation you have submitted with your claim, including receipts, invoices, photos, medical records, or repair estimates.
  • List of questions: Prepare a list of questions you want to ask about your case, the legal process, and the potential outcomes.
  • Timeline of events: Be ready to provide a clear timeline of the incident that led to the claim and any steps you’ve taken with your insurance company.

By preparing thoroughly for your consultation, you can ensure that the lawyer has all the information they need to assess your case and provide the best legal advice.
