We were incredibly please with our attorney, Kathryn Karam, at Quan Law. She was very patient with answering all of our questions and kept us updated of our case status along the way. Each time there was a hiccup, and boy did we have a few, she always had a plan to move forward and presented us with our options. She was always up to date on the latest immigration news and trends and often could anticipate issues before they arose. Ms. Garcia called me on the day of my preliminary hearing to ask me to tell her “what happened.” To make matters worse, this was 20 minutes after the required hearing time.
I have never met her and was surprised and disappointed to learn that she would be handling my hearing 20 minutes after the hearing was set to begin. I did not hire her. I hired her associate. I was not told in advance nor consulted at all prior to the hearing. I was blindsided. She had no information about my case, and was completely unprepared. The prosecutor essentially walked all over her. She had no confidence, stammered and used the filler “ummm” more than a professional should. The only reason the hearing was reset and not sent directly to trial was because I interjected (which I was technically not supposed to do, but it worked). The prosecutor excused herself and said she would rejoin later to give me time to discuss the case with Ms. Garcia. She had not reviewed the evidence which I had shared weeks prior. Once I informed her of this, and the prosecutor rejoined the hearing, the date was reset. From my experience, she was not the caliber of attorney I would have chosen for myself. After doing thorough research, I hired her associate based on what I found. With this incident, I felt as if I was given the bait and switch routine.
I am deeply disappointed and disillusioned by this. I should at, at minimum, been notified well in advance and given the opportunity to meet her prior to my hearing. At best, I should have been represented by the attorney that I specifically hired.
I expect better at my next hearing and will update my review accordingly.

I recently hired Ms. King to defend my son. My son is a great kid that made a very stupid mistake. Honor Student, Athlete, Leader with a great future ahead of him. Just recently graduated from High School. I wanted the best attorney to represent my son and I found that in Ms. King. She is very caring, however, she is "FEISTY". Hired this lawyer on the recommendation of a friend. Her schedule doesn't make communication easy, but she seems to know all the local players and legal trends. Kind of a white-knuckle experience, but all things considered, we did pretty well. 80% of the work was done the week before trial. You'll need nerves of steel, but she dared to personally believe our friend was innocent and behaved accordingly.

I hired this firm in 2017, finalized the divorce in 2018. My ex-husband and I had a primary residence for sale and agreed to split the significant balance of our retirement at the sale of the home rather than a withdrawal at the close of the divorce. The problem was that when the residence sold, three years later, I found my ex-husband had emptied the retirement account two months before the sale. I felt confident that an attorney could get my retirement account back since I had the divorce decree to back it up. I then learned that my Fullenweider Wilhite attorney, Michael Childs, had neglected to include a clause in the decree to prevent this, a decree written by my ex-husband’s attorney, thus allowing my ex-husband to take my retirement funds. You rely on family law attorneys to know these rules and protect you from opposing counsel acts of this nature. Financially devastated and disappointed. I do not recommend this firm.

We initially spoke over the phone and later in person. I hired her for a custody case. I did not think I would win because I am a single father. It took a while, but I was given custody of my daughter. There were a lot of things that I did not understand during the process. I was scared and went to visit several attorneys to see who would be a good match. I felt comfortable with Shantrice and she was very hands on. She gave me her cell to reach her in case of an emergency. I didn't win every issue, but she was up front about where she saw weaknesses in my case from the initial meeting. I did not always like her direct approach with telling me where I was going wrong, but I appreciated it at the end when I looked back and realized she was trying to help me not just tell me what I wanted to hear.

She took $1250 from me and never represented me. Her response was a nut job that she will not give back the money. She literally spoke to me ten minutes got the money and never did a thing for me. Now, she will not return it. She a thief and crook. I’m reporting her to the board of lawyers that hopefully will take away her license so she cannot do this to other single moms of two that is disabled.. or any other people and/or families.

Roark is a fabulous lawyer!! He works quick to get things done, works hard on your case, he has always called me back in a timely manner, he has always answered my questions.. Roark has been my lawyer for 14+ years.. He always made me feel confident about my case from day one.. When I 1st talked to him 14 years ago. He spent 2 hours or so with me on the phone telling me what I needed to do.. He took the time out of his Sunday to help me... Mr. Roark knows his stuff!
I've used him myself for a child custody case. My husband has used him and also my dad.. I would absolutely recommend him to anyone!! Mr.Roark is a dam good lawyer!

This attorney is a slow-witted litigant that refuses to acknowledge current case law. He will do absolutely nothing to improve your disposition once he is retained, and you can have the same result if you remain Pro Se.
He contends that there are no limits to the power exercised by family court trial judges and will do nothing to correct an injustice-a dangerous attitude for an attorney with a client who values their own interests. He will not fight for you! He is less knowledgeable than most learned lay-persons he represents. He is unresponsive, habitually late, poor at communicating with his client, and engages in repeated logical fallacies of assuming those who are not attorneys would not have any knowledge to impart. He refused to acknowledge the local rules of another county--he loves to talk about how they do it in Harris county (something every adjacent county court judge hates and regularly slams attorneys in court for assuming that the same rules apply). In his draft, "that (he) was paid to do," he screwed that up too! This is despite being told he was breaking the local rules (because it wasn't another attorney who told him).
He would argue that 2 + 2 equals 3 until another attorney says it's 13 (This number was deliberately chosen as it is even further from the truth). He will immediately trust that as canon and ignore you as you scream, "It's 4!" Here is my prediction for his latest debacle: The proposed order he drafted will be rejected, the alternative copy filed by opposing counsel will be accepted -- despite the inclusion of provisions that were never filed, tried, and ordered, because he refused to acknowledge the local rules. As a result, the petitioner will get away with not allowing visitation with the child this past Summer.
On an enforcement action he was paid to rewrite a Pro Se draft to ensure it would not be stricken. He took the Pro Se copy, added a sentence about attorney's fees, and filed it as is. It was stricken. So I am out money and no closer to holding my ex accountable for refusing to let me see my child this past Summer.
He values the word of opposing counsel over his own client and operates in an elitist manner assuming no one without a law degree could know better. He will not do research. He has refused to review the petitioner's proposed order, essentially going blind into a court room with no preparation to counter the other party's assertions. Any client of his will work harder than he does, and most efforts by his client will be centered on keeping him in line.
He is a mid-level paralegal at best. If you want to know exactly what it is like to be represented by him, don't show up to hearings, let the other side get everything they want by default, take about $1700, and then burn it. That is exactly the same result as retaining James Roark.

RUN! Do not hire this attorney. I had the unfortunate experience of having her recommended to me. I would try to get a hold of her and would never get a response. The only type of response what, pay my bill before I do anymore work. She was not familiar with the law. In fact, I had to tell her how many days a TRO was good for. Even then, she wouldn't go to the judge. I ended up switching attorneys because I found out she hadn't renewed her license!!!!! and wasn't eligible to practice. The case was such a mess for the 3 months that she had it. Even the attorney that recommended her to me, apologized to me explaining that he had no idea she was that bad.
I did end up winning my custody battle, but it could have been so much easier without having this lawyer mess it up in the beginning! Unfortunately, I have to give her at least 1 star. She's not even worth that.

Meghann represented me in a rather complicated dispute that arose with a condo I own and the homeowners association.
