I own a building contracting company. We had completely built a job for a client without a deposit and at the end tried to collect all money for service rendered. The client then made up his own contract in addition to the one he had already signed with us and asked us to sign his new contract. It included extra items not included the original contract doubling our cost of the job, but for no additional pay. After trying several times to come to an agreement with the client we soon realized that our voice was falling on deaf ears. Once we refused to sign his agreement that he made himself, he banished us from the property and told us he would do it himself, that we weren't going to be compensated a dime, and were never allowed back. I've never been put in a situation like this in the past 7 years of owning my business or the 10 years of experiences in the building industry. Upon seeking legal advice, I was referred to Kevin through another associate and told him the story. Kevin went to bat for us. We went to trial and won. He was forced to pay us all the services rendered. Kevin and his team did an amazing job of presenting the case. I couldn't have asked for anything more. He's honest, hard working, and trustworthy. Jesse Berryman is representing me through a very long drawn out battle. He’s very efficient! He takes the time to listen to you and really cares about your case and what you’re going through. And this man will fight for you and for what you’re entitled for.
My ex and I have history of domestic violence. Jesse is not my first attorney in this case. My ex, I believe is a narcissist and will continue to take me to court forever. While we were in court and we got breaks to use the bathroom Jesse made sure he came out with me every time and kept me within sight!!! I didn’t ask him to do this nor did I ever tell him I was uncomfortable to possibly run into my ex outside the courtroom. He took it upon himself to make sure that he was with me anytime I left the court room!!! Like I said he’s not my first attorney in this case but he is the first attorney that has ever done that!
Jesse is so good that my ex’s attorney made a joke that if we didn’t get out of court before it was too late he was going to have to hire my attorney to represent him.
I can’t speak highly enough about Jesse. He’s a shark and he will not just fight for you but he will give you the strength if needed to continue to fight when you have to.
He’s very fair on his billing, i’ve learned you get what you pay for. He’s not the cheapest attorney around but you 100% get what you pay for! He does not run through your money unnecessarily and in my opinion does not bill for everything that he probably should! Sometimes life throws a bunch of things your way that necessitates not only hiring one lawyer, but possibly many. If you're at the point when you're looking for an appellate lawyer, please know you have my sympathy. It's a place I never thought I'd end up.
Bill was one of three names that I was given by my attorney, and he was also the attorney who came up when I spoke to other attorneys and paralegals I knew. There really aren't that many who truly specialize in this field... who are Florida Bar rated in appellate law...and who've tried the number of cases Bill has before the Florida District Courts and even Florida Supreme Court.
I found that some people who say they've done appeals, really haven't done all that many. You can actually research your potential attorneys on the 1dca.org website. It's a small bunch of those who are truly experienced.
From the get-go, you know that you're talking to a person who has years of experience handling appeals and will truly do all he can for your case. He also promised me "brutal honesty" with regards to my case--which is something I respect. He's also a really nice guy.
Appeals are not cheap, but Bill's hourly rate is, by all accounts, fair. Given the level of experience, he could easily charge more.
My only regret is not consulting him sooner when it looked like an appeal may be likely. Don't make my same mistake.
Update: Experience matters. There's a difference between 30 and 300 cases. There's a reason Bill's name is always included when attorneys are asked for an appellate lawyer recommendation. I knew he was experienced, but I didn't really get it until I read his work for my case. He meticulously chooses each word and crafts a well thought out argument with case law to back up his point of view. Comparing his work to those of my Ex's attorney--made it apparently clear that experience matters and his reputation is justified. We won, BTW.

I hired Tim back in 2018 for a dv hearing and hired him for the same reason last week. Nothing makes me happier then seeing my husbands attorney scared and making stuff up as she goes. Hes not only agressive in the court room he knows the judges and know what is asked. He defended me and my family and he will in my upcoming divorce case. If you want someone who is agressive and makes the other parties attorneys look stupid. Hire him!!!!! Hes a breath of fresh air to the justice system.

I have retained Mr. Johnson for several matters over the past 5 years. I have found both he and Chelsea, his secretary, to be professional and courteous. I have never been charged more than $50.00 for a consultation fee and he has always applied that amount to his fees when handling my cases. When I consulted him regarding a possible bankruptcy filing, the consultation was FREE and he spent over an hour explaining why I would be better off paying off my debts than filing a case.
