I had an amazing experience working with Jonah.
I had a small, but complex legal issue that resulted in a warrant being issued for time I had already served, and left the state for. I told this to Hank and I'll tell this to you. Hank is a great lawyer. He's extremely intelligent, articulate, thoughtful, and a good listener. In addition, you can tell that he walks through all the angles of a lawsuit meticulously in his head. It’s good that he’s an extremely level-headed person.
Hank represented me in a suit that lasted roughly a year. Going through a legal battle, you're going to exchange tons of messages with your lawyer. Hank was not only communicative and responded to my messages quickly, but was always receptive to what I had to say. In addition, he has a way of simplifying technical lawyer speak, and often has great analogies that provide you more meaning and context to complex situations.
Going through a lawsuit can also be very stressful, but Hank is very relatable and does a good job of making you feel prepared and at relative ease.
He's a quality lawyer, and comes highly recommended.

Kristina brought a number of things to the table in my case. She brought the experience of Chris Morales, since they reviewed my case together and at no time was he not available instantly on her phone, including crucial court dates, in real time. She was also glad to drive to Marin or wherever required. She put a lot of time into my misdemeanor case, which had gotten a bit complex due to me missing a court date. Multiple appearences and then during the appearances I heard her heeled shoes clacking back and forth several into the bowels of whatever judge's Chambers the District Attorney's office she needed to visit to get the results I requested which in the end were 24 hrs community service and 5 hr class.

Monique and her entire team were phenomenal. We were involved in a very complex international business. Things did not go the way we had hoped and everyone came out of the woodwork trying to get a piece of us. Monique and her firm were truly expert in boiling the multiple cases down to several key issues, consolidating some of the cases and then vigorously built a solid fact based defense. They worked tirelessly for 4 years until the case finally came to trial and then performed brilliantly during trial. Their knowledge of the facts was so deep that they were able to not only dissect the oppositions positions, but get their witnesses to change their positions on the stand because of the overwhelming evidence they were able to refer to at a moments notice. We won at trial overwhelmingly., so much so that we were subsequently awarded both expenses and virtually all of our attorney's fees (like seven figures worth of attorney's fees). Huge win! Greg is the best lawyer I have ever worked with.
My collections case was difficult. The opposing party used all means at their disposal to make it impossible to collect. First by attempting to ignore me, then by moving money in accounts, and finally by making promises of settlement then violating their written promises.
Greg did what I could not. His understanding of process and the nuances of collections make it impossible for opposing council to ignore him. His follow up, negotiation, and ability to execute on collections efforts is unmatched. He is firm, fair, and effective.

Me. Rivas went above and beyond to take my mom's case with regards to her living trust. My mother felt comfortable as she also spoke Spanish since that was the only form of communication.

We highly recommend Alex. We interviewed 3 lawyers to help us with a landlord that was leasing us a house with multiple issues. We chose Alex because of his expertise with renters' rights and his clear way of explaining them. We had some calls and emailed all of our evidence to him to make the case. Alex took over all communication with the landlord and her lawyer. On our end, Alex was always available to answer questions quickly and clearly, we always felt supported. Within a few weeks, he helped us get everything we needed without going to court. He even was with us on Facetime for our final landlord walkthrough. We initially consulted with Alex when we were going through a difficult situation with a past landlord who was withholding funds from us and demanding additional payment for a situation completely due to landord negligence. Mike's presentation, fearlessness while under scrutiny, combined with his knowledge, experience and work ethic easily makes him an authority on all things regarding zoning/land use. I had the pleasure of working with Michael after reading his publication: Land Use Navigator. The only downside is the firm in which he works(not his fault, his co-workers just seem to have an affinity to steal/take credit for his work+ they are impossible to deal with due to their egotistical mannerisms). If you are honest and have an honest grievance needing legal resolution, Steven Adair MacDonald and Partners will do everything they can to help you. Steven Adair MacDonald never said very much but as soon as he agreed to take on my case, actions were immediate. He simply stated: "We'll get it settled" and he/they did! I'm an 80-year-old woman and a San Francisco tenant for over 30 years. About ten years ago, I had rented my own bedroom (I moved into the living room) to college students to help pay the rent. A year ago, I foolishly rented my room to a middle-age woman who towers over me and lied about everything to gain entrance to my home. This subtenant blamed all her problems on me, picked fights with me for no reason and then accused me of provoking them and her verbal abuse and threats became increasingly vicious, especially to my cats. I asked her to move out, but her reply was that she was not going to move out, soon or ever! The Rent Board informed me that because I had never told this subtenant that I could evict her without just cause before signing the rental agreement, I could be doomed to live in the same one bedroom apartment with the abusive tyrant for the rest of my life if she refused to vacate. When I appealed to the S.F. Department of Adult Protective Services, the personnel felt I did have a case but not enough hard proof so they could not really do anything. I finally hired a lawyer, but I soon got the feeling that he was really working for my abuser, as he consistently sided with the abuser and implied I was to blame. The months of coping with a vicious subtenant and an "incompetent lawyer" who often put me in physical danger of the vicious subtenant's temper, and then this complete betrayal of my trust by the "representatives of Justice" drove me to a near physical and mental collapse. The moment Mr. MacDonald took my case, everything changed for me. He immediately had Priscilla, his assistant, draw up a Request for Dismissal. That Thursday morning when I again entered that Courtroom to face again that same Judge, I somehow felt as if Priscilla towered by my side. But, of course, Priscilla was not present at all. As soon as the Judge saw I had not appeared with a new lawyer, He launched into another round of rebukes against me that had been repeated many times for hours that last Monday. Finally, a clerk tried three times in a timid voice to inform the Judge that my case had already been dismissed. When she finally succeeded in her third effort, Wow, the look on the face of that Judge was everything I could have wished for. All he said was, "Oh, well, then, there is no need to proceed further." And I was finally free from him and injustice! To me, my case seemed very simple. But for the lawyers, even the most experienced and successful, certain San Francisco rental laws have made even a clear case of justice/injustice become very difficult to win. Nevertheless, Steven Adair MacDonald and Partners did finally get my subtenant to sign a Stipulation in which she admitted I had just cause to evict her. I can't describe specifically all that Steven MacDonald did to win my case but as the other two very dedicated partners, Danny Wang and Tiffany Hufford, who did most of the concrete work on my case, were very young, I imagine Mr. MacDonald's years of experience must have helped guide them to final success. What I did always feel and am most grateful for is that he seemed to really sympathize with my plight as a victim, and if Steven Adair MacDonald decided to do something about it, he would do it, whether alone, by his partners or together with his partners. Finally, I was no longer alone; I had honest and very capable lawyers on my side! That was the Tower of Strength I felt standing with me that day in Court and throughout my struggle. No words can ever express my gratitude to Steven Adair MacDonald and his partners for giving me back my life, my home and hope for my one remaining cat.

I don't think anyone who gets involved in legal action comes away super-happy about it -- you just do the best with the hand you're dealt and hope you get some kind of justice for what happened to you. But if you need to get legal on someone, (bike-car collision in my case), Kimberly is great.
Sandy (her boss) comes to the important meetings (mediation), expert witness meeting, but Kimberly handled all the day-to-day of my case: depositions, records, letters to other side, stuff I don't know the name of, etc. She's a great communicator and easy to get a hold of. Super-professional and very confident and knowledgeable.
She's very smart and has enough experience to see all the angles ahead of time and steer you through the pitfalls. Since most cases settle, what you need from your lawyer is for them to 1) stop you from doing stupid stuff, and 2) talk you into doing smart stuff. For that, Kimberly was great, and very knowledgeable, and I think we had an excellent outcome. It costs a lot to sue someone, both in lawyer contingency fees and case expenses (which you pay all of and which get amazingly insanely huge if you go to trial), but Kimberly was always up front about all that, and that's part of why so many cases settle before trial.
My only critique of Kimberly is that occasionally I felt a touch "out of the loop", but most people aren't as micro-manager as I am, and when I did have a question Kimberly was always super-quick with an answer, and easy to get on the phone or email.
If I had to do it over I'd call Kimberly again, and that's very high praise for a lawyer! :)
