I had an incredible experience with Jennifer Sinclair Simpkins as my attorney! I came to her after spending over five months with another lawyer who made no progress on my case. From the moment I consulted with Jennifer, I knew I was in the right hands. She’s incredibly smart, strategic, and doesn’t waste a second of your time. Jennifer is also realistic while being optimistic, without any of the extra “fluff”. She quickly assessed my situation, mapped out a clear plan, and took decisive action. What felt stagnant for months was resolved efficiently and effectively once she stepped in. I couldn’t be more impressed with her professionalism, sharpness, and ability to get things done. If you’re looking for an attorney who delivers results and truly has your back, I highly recommend Jennifer. Forever grateful for my experience with her!

During the most stressful time of my life to date, my attorney, Jennifer Sinclair Simpkins was nothing short of amazing! She listened to me, guided me through every step of the process, & she promptly returned my emails. I had so many questions that she patiently answered. Thank you, Jennifer for making this as painless as possible. Thank you for your professionalism and for fighting for me!

As someone who unfortunately has had to deal with 4-5 lawyers in the few years this was by far my absolute worst experience with any attorney/firm. Can’t recommend enough to get a different consult and get better advice, would never work with them again. The strategy here seems to be to take clients to court and to drag things out as long as possible to wrack up billable hours. From this from I paid over $10k for a divorce case that almost went to trial, until the firm was late on giving me needed disclosures to complete - when I changed attorneys almost instantly got the case out of court and saved a ton of money and got what I wanted. Attorneys here couldn’t seem to care less, they are arrogant and will give you bad informaron to keep your case going to trial. Total waste and huge regret wasting any time and money here.

I want to first and foremost can't express enough of my gratitude Towards the amazing team at Riddle and Brantley. I was in a really bad car accident. And after trying to work with the insurance company with the at fault party and they weren't willing to help me. I honestly felt like it was the end of the road, and no one was going to help me. Then I contacted this company and man old man. I can honestly say they came in the clutch. I'm blessed and grateful to my lawyer Daren Dawson and the exceptionally gifted an incredibly sweet patient Case Manager Kalena Tavares for their time and effort and assisting me when I needed someone the most, they didn't just treat me like a patient. They treated me like family. And I will forever recommend this amazing law firm for all of your law. Needs, thank you guys, you're the best.

Excellent experience with Riddle & Riddle consultation. Having the time to take out of their day to come to my home and visit me was truly a blessing. A time where I needed to be heard and listened to gave me a sense of peace. I truly appreciate them and the kind, warm spirit that Riddle & Riddle have. I highly recommend them to anyone who is in need. Thank you Kevin C.

Got over $$3,500 stolen from my attorney. He promise to take our case to sue a company and every time we asked for updates he will have an excuse. It’s been a year (12 months) and no work was done, we have ask for our money back and he was failed to provide an explanation on where the money is. He said he has to deduct his hours which no work was ever presented to us. In the whole year NOTHING was ever done. PLEASE BE CAREFUL! Update: Ms Andrew provided me with an invoice where he charged us $250 for just REVIEWING emails, this means he DID NOT REPLY, he did not do anything but received it. Emails that he decided to ignored, he wants us to sign an invoice for a check when he is not even acknowledging the $200 that Mr River promise to add to our fund. He is also charging us more than what we had agreed on. The agreement was that he was going to charged $250 for every HOUR Working on our case. He is charging us $250 for emails WE send asking about our case! EMAILS he decided to ignored. And unless he has a disability I can’t understand how long it took him to read my email. We got over $3,250 for him LOOKING at our emails. Please be careful because if that’s not stealing money idk what is. In the refund the wants to give us is only for $375 back and asking us to sign a disclosure saying “we are happy with his service and all charges are accurate” IF THATS NOT STEALING PEOPLES MONEY, I DONT KNOW WHAT IS! Funny you claimed we didn’t dispute the charges when we are asking you to send us the drafting work you claim you did. And NOTHING HAS BEEN PROVIDED. WE ARE DISPUTING ALL THOSE $3,250 that you did not work, you ignore emails. I dispute those charges as soon as you sent them.

Andrew was 45 minutes late to our first court appearance. I was sent multiple reminders from his firm to appear at the correct time, and I was getting more and more stressed when he did not show up. I called his office and they had no idea where he was and assured me that they would contact him and find out. Finally he showed up 45 minutes late. I did not get an apology or explanation for why he was late. Andrew was representing me in a tenant eviction where the tenant was living in my property without leaving for 6 months. This is the first time that I have ever gone through an eviction so I hired him. He was supposed to check the rent bonds each month so that we could remove the tenant any time they did not pay their bonds to the court. He failed to check the October rent bond because we were attempting to negotiate with the tenant. Instead he waited until November and then realized the tenant hadn't paid in October and we could have filed to remove her weeks earlier. This inaction lost me 1 month of income. He will probably reply here that he didn't check the bond because he was negotiating - but I fail to see why both tasks are mutually exclusive. I am literally paying for his time (retainer paid for his hourly rate so it's not like I asked him to do this for free), so why were the tasks I asked him to do not done? When I asked Andrew to acknowledge this mistake or provide me with a discount on his rate for the income that he lost me, he sent me the following reply, direct quote: "I have 100 other cases going on besides yours. The rent bond information is publicly available. So, it is also something that you could have checked just as easily." If he has 100 other cases and can't give my case the attention it needs, maybe he should take on less cases. And obviously if I was a legal expert and could have gone through this process on my own, I wouldn't have needed a lawyer in the first place. EDIT - He was absolutely 45 minutes late. To deny that would be an absolute lie. I sat in the court room by myself while the judge skipped over me and went to other cases, and she directly said that we can come back to mine when my council shows up. And I did bring this up to Andrew by asking him to state clearly (by email) exactly what time he would be at court for the next court appearance. As for why I said "Thank you" in emails??? and didn't call out the issues immediately it's because I was afraid that if I call out ineffective work during my case, that I would be retaliated against and the work wouldn't be performed at all. There's a reason I had to follow up over 100 times. You are also misrepresenting me here. I NEVER once asked why you didn't file the writ of possession while we were negotiating. I understand ethics very well. I only asked why you didn't VERIFY that the tenant paid her bond. Isn't the saying "knowledge is power"? When the tenant flaked from turning up to sign the negotiated paperwork, we should have been able to file the Writ of Possession Immediately. Or even immediately after our court date. Instead because you never checked this fact, we had to wait weeks!!

Service - 0 stars Quality of work - 0 stars Any type of case resolution - 0 stars A waste of my entire fee that was paid. Mr. Gordon - It seems all your time trying to prove to my cc company that you did the work I paid for was most of the work you did, because that's more work than I ever saw for myself.... Which is what I told them, and the reason it was in your favor was because one of the deadlines of my cc company to reply to your response expired and I was not aware. As I explained to them, all the paperwork you showed them were never provided to me, and the reason I asked for a refund in the first place was due to your lack of communication, professionalism, and any type of quality of work (or lack thereof). It's the only logical explanation in the first place, since I have paid money for services which I have never received, and I have no resolution of the case you were hired to perform. Presumably, if it took you “several hours” to refute my claim, you didn’t start out with enough evidence to disprove it in the first place. And my “audacity” comes from being the fact that I am the one that ended up wasting every penny I gave you, with nothing to show for it. I think that you are the audacious one, to think that I am not deserving of any refund, because you had to spend time to manufacture evidence of your work you did for me. Edit to respond to your edit: I'm responding so that we stick to the facts as opposed to manufacturing hyperbole and you misrepresenting what happened, and taking no responsibility for your actions as a professional. To reiterate, I lost the chargeback because, as the bank told me multiple times, we went past the deadline required by the bank to respond. In addition you showed the bank "evidence" of work you had done for the case, which I had never seen before, and could have easily been manufactured after the fact. And to keep facts straight again, I never disputed the fee charged for the consultation, only the fees for the case, which was never performed. Way back I asked for a refund from you when there wasn't even any work performed yet, and you offered me a very small fraction of my fee. It was then that I realized you were not going to be reasonable and I initiated the chargeback. Throughout the time of the case I had to continuously do my own legwork for the case and emails to you went unanswered for days at a time. I was also extremely dissatisfied with your attention to my case, and knowledge of procedure, which is another reason I asked for a refund. I had to hire different representation for my case due to your lack of attention and resolution. I find it interesting in all of your responses you never claim to have represented me or found any resolution in my case. I think if you had finished the case, and then I initiated a chargeback, that would be a scam, not me trying to get some money back before the case was started because I was dissatisfied with your service. You offered me approximately a 25% refund of my original fees, which was before anything was even started for the case. If I had been represented to my satisfaction, or you recovered any damages in my case, I would have not asked for anything back, obviously. In this case the scam seems to be accepting my total fee with no resolution or progress to my case, and I find it preposterous that you expect you should be compensated for time responding to my dispute, when I was dissatisfied with my service in the first place. Also I think we should leave anyone accepting credit card payments from me out of the equation, since you have zero knowledge of the subject. I hope my fee is worth it to you, since you seem to have a business practice of accepting funds for work not done, which seems like more of a scam to me. Merry Christmas

I am very grateful for Barri's (and her staff) help over more than a year working with her. My separation was not one I wanted, but worked with my wife’s management of our relationship. After talking to a few attorneys it was clear Barri was aligned with my goals of protecting the well-being of my children, and not getting emotionally involved in the process. I was crystal clear on my terms around what I would fight for, and she translated that into a separation agreement that benefited my kids and their futures. She is a thoughtful, caring, kind, and intelligent professional and person. She is highly respected in the Triangle and that was apparent during our mediations. I highly recommend consulting Barri if you need help.

Almost 2 years ago today I made the very difficult decision to end my 2 decades of marriage after my "I do" became an "I don't". The associated legal process of separation and divorce in North Carolina is complex; however consulting with and ultimately hiring Theresa E. Viera was a life-saving move on my part. Theresa is a great teacher and explains each part of the process in a manner that allows you to make the best decisions possible during a highly emotional time. She is well respected in the community and the courthouse and runs a firm full of legal experts who are life-saving. I ended my process successfully and could not have done so without Theresa and her team guiding me, checking in on me, and ushering me into the next phase of my life. Although divorce is a sad situation, she led me to a place of celebration. I really could not have asked for a better situation.

I am a resident of another state and Theresa Viera represented me in a case in North Carolina. I was unfamiliar with various antiquated laws in N.C. I initially hired a different attorney/firm and that experience was awful. I was quite scared about what could happen with my case and I luckily found new representation in Theresa. What a difference maker. She was well-versed on the specific laws and right away made me feel less stressed. She was compassionate, thorough, attentive, and took her time to make sure I understood every nuance of the case, as well as my options. I could not have asked a better attorney to act on my behalf. Theresa guided me through the process with professionalism and kindness, and helped me reach a reasonable resolution. She took away a lot of my anxiety about the unknown and was a terrific advocate for me. I wish I would have located her sooner and hired her from the beginning. I highly recommend Theresa!

I retained Mr. Demidovich to represent me in a divorce case. At the initial consultation, I knew he was the attorney for me. Mr. Demidovich took the time to review my documents and understand my situation. He was very direct as he laid out my options. His took my case on short notice and worked out a compensation plan that didn’t require me to sell my house and work two jobs just to retain his services. Mr. Demidovich worked with me when other lawyers wouldn’t. Mr. Demidovich truly believes that one should try to negotiate a win-win settlement before marching into court. He was, nonetheless, prepared to litigate my case if my attempts to secure an amicable agreement failed. I believe Mr. Demidovich’s knowledge and reputation as a fair, no-nonsense, seasoned litigator helped me to secure a fair and speedy divorce. I approached the Law Office of Kelli Allen in about February of this year ( 2023) to help me submit my Green Card Application. I was assigned to Berna Chacon- a bilingual specialist in data accumulation for Green Card submissions. Thank G-d I was. She was absolutely outstanding. I mean truly- it took me a while to accumulate the necessary data ( necessary being whatever Berna told me to put together) and we submitted my application in June of this year. Franklin Mock and his team were fantastic when dealing with my case. For nearly a year and a half they worked very patiently with me to ensure my case was handled fairly and completely. I had a lot of intricate details that had to be handled and they didn't skip a beat. I am so very thankful to have had a wonderful lawyer in Franklin. Miss Rebecca, his paralegal, went above and beyond for me and my children. I am so very thankful for all of the hard work she did to ensure the safety of my children and myself. I would recommend Franklin Mock to anyone in need of legal representation.

I scheduled an appointment to see this attorney Tim Gray based on preliminary conversations about my appointment. Visited the lawfirm with documentation as well as providing lengthy discussions of my case. I was charged $150.00 and told he would be in touch and provide the next steps for me. I waited and waited. I emailed OVER AND OVER and two weeks later he responded saying he couldn't accept my case because, he was accepting a new and demanding case....Just left me hanging. He never intended on providing representation. It was a easy $150.00 for his firm. Such poor customer service.

Mr.Koenig was knowledgeable and professional as we reviewed policies on home ownership rights and problems. The need to possibly change or transfer the deed, the pros and cons associated with any change; the other possible options: refinancing or sale of the home. He provided specific facts and costs of each options, facts of NC law relative to each option, and positive and negative financial and/or personal consequences related to each of those options. We reviewed local housing levels of care options for seniors, from rentals to assisted living. Lastly we reviewed the NC law on tenancy; the right to rent out a room to either stranger or family; when and how one might evict if necessary. Mr. Koenig provided dates of upcoming appropriate information sessions. He explained a remedy to an incomplete Will and Power of Attorney. I surely will recommend him to others and will return to use his services as needed.

I was involved in a very serious automobile accident that has required me to have 10 surgeries up to now. If it would not of been for Jeannette and her associates , I don't know what my family and I would have done or where we would of ended up. The Kid that hit me had Nationwide Insurance and believe me when I tell you, "Nationwide is not on your side" when it comes to doing the right thing. They did everything they could to intimidate me and my family. Nationwide hired the biggest law firm in Raleigh , Jeanette never once backed down and made me feel safe. Her knowledge of the law was very impressive, but what was even more impressive was her work ethic and her compassion for someone that was almost killed by someone that was racing to get home so he and his dad could go fishing. She was constantly on the phone with me and or emailing me. I gave Jeannette the nik name of "King Kong Congdon" because she stood her ground for what was right against one of the biggest insurance companies in the nation. I will never forget the long hours of work she put in. I would get emails from her at 2:30 in the morning. Having her on my side made all the difference in the world. I unfortunately have been disabled from this accident and have now hired her to help get my Social Security Disability. If anyone is in need of a lawyer that wont B.S. you and will fight for you, then do yourself a favor and call her and find out for yourself.

What a Mediation Lawyer Can Do for You

A mediation lawyer specializes in resolving disputes outside of the courtroom through a process called mediation. Mediation involves a neutral third-party mediator who helps the disputing parties reach a mutually acceptable agreement. Mediation lawyers can represent clients in various matters, including divorce, business disputes, employment conflicts, contract issues, personal injury claims, and more.

Unlike litigation, mediation is a less adversarial and more cost-effective way to settle disputes, often leading to faster resolutions and preserving relationships between the parties involved.

When Should I Hire a Mediation Lawyer?

Consider hiring a mediation lawyer when you’re involved in a dispute and want to avoid the time, expense, and stress of going to court. Common reasons to hire a mediation lawyer include:

  • Divorce or child custody disputes: A mediation lawyer can help you reach a fair settlement on issues like property division, alimony, and parenting arrangements without going to court.
  • Business or contract disputes: For disagreements such as contract disputes, partnership conflicts, or intellectual property issues, a mediation lawyer can assist in resolving the matter through negotiation.
  • Employment disputes: Issues like wrongful termination, discrimination, or wage disputes can be addressed through mediation to find common ground and avoid lawsuits.
  • Personal injury cases: Mediation can help both parties agree on compensation in cases like car accidents or slip-and-fall claims without a prolonged court battle.
  • Property disputes: Disputes over property ownership, landlord-tenant issues, or boundary disagreements can be settled more amicably through mediation.
  • Family or inheritance disputes: Mediation can help resolve conflicts over wills or trusts without further dividing the family.

What Does a Mediation Lawyer Do?

A mediation lawyer provides a range of services to help clients resolve disputes through negotiation and mutual agreement. Their responsibilities often include:

  • Representing your interests: Acting as your advocate during mediation to ensure your rights are protected and you understand your legal options.
  • Preparing for mediation: Reviewing the facts of the case, gathering necessary documents, and advising you on potential resolutions.
  • Facilitating communication: Helping to facilitate open and constructive dialogue between parties to clarify points of contention.
  • Negotiating settlements: Assisting in negotiating fair and balanced settlement terms that are in your best interest.
  • Drafting mediation agreements: Preparing the official mediation agreement that outlines the terms of the settlement, which is often legally binding.
  • Avoiding litigation: Aiming to reach a settlement that eliminates the need for a court trial, saving time and resources for both parties.
  • Handling complex legal issues: Explaining the legal implications of various settlement terms in cases with complicated legal matters.

How Are Mediation Lawyers Paid?

Mediation lawyers typically charge for their services based on the complexity of the case and the time involved. Common payment methods include:

  • Hourly rate: Charging an hourly fee ranging from $150 to $500 or more, depending on experience and case complexity.
  • Flat fee: For simpler mediations, some lawyers may offer a flat fee covering all legal work involved in the process.
  • Retainer: In ongoing or complex cases, a retainer may be required as an upfront payment billed against as work progresses.

Discuss fees and payment structures with your lawyer during the initial consultation to understand the cost of mediation services.

How Much Does a Mediation Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a mediation lawyer depends on several factors, including the case's complexity, the lawyer’s experience, and the time required to resolve the dispute. General cost estimates include:

  • Hourly rates: Typically between $150 and $500 per hour.
  • Flat fees: For simple mediations, fees may range from $1,000 to $5,000.
  • Total mediation costs: Can vary widely, from $2,000 to $10,000 for straightforward cases, up to $10,000 to $50,000 or more for complex disputes.

Always request a detailed cost estimate during your consultation to understand total expenses.

Top Questions to Ask a Mediation Lawyer

Before hiring a mediation lawyer, consider asking the following questions:

  1. What experience do you have with mediation cases like mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in handling similar disputes.
  2. How do you charge for your services?
Clarify the fee structure and request an estimate based on your specific case.
  3. What is the likelihood of resolving my case through mediation?
Seek an honest assessment of whether mediation is suitable for your situation.
  4. How long will the mediation process take?
Inquire about the expected timeline and number of sessions required.
  5. Will you personally handle my case?
Confirm who will manage your mediation and represent your interests.
  6. Can we pursue alternative dispute resolution (ADR) if necessary?
Ask about other forms of ADR, such as arbitration, if mediation doesn't resolve the conflict.

How to Check the Credibility of a Mediation Lawyer

To ensure you're hiring a reputable mediation lawyer, take the following steps:

  • Verify their bar status: Confirm with your state bar association that the lawyer is licensed and has no disciplinary history.
  • Look for mediation experience: Review their website or professional profile for specialization in mediation and successful case histories.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Check platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google for client feedback.
  • Ask for references: Request references from past clients familiar with their mediation skills.
  • Check for certifications: Look for certifications from organizations like the American Arbitration Association (AAA) or the Association for Conflict Resolution (ACR).

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To maximize the effectiveness of your initial meeting, bring the following:

  • Relevant documents: Any materials related to the dispute, such as contracts, emails, financial records, or court filings.
  • List of key issues: A detailed list of the main points of contention that need resolution.
  • Timeline of events: A chronological account of events leading up to the dispute, including prior resolution attempts.
  • Goals for the mediation: Be prepared to discuss your desired outcomes and areas where you're willing to compromise.
  • Questions for the lawyer: Any queries about the mediation process, fees, or their approach to dispute resolution.

Being well-prepared will help the lawyer assess your case effectively and provide the best possible advice for resolving your dispute through mediation.
