My general impression is that Jenny is smart and no nonsense. Perhaps a good person to watch a basketball game at the local bar. Doesn't really get riled up in the drama of the case. I liked that. She's a straight shooter. Quick to understand the situation. Very efficient and clearly has experience. Yet that's also a major problem if you have a complex case. I think she let her staff do the brunt of the work. Cheaper in the short term but miscommunication errors were made. Cost me more in the end. No apology... just blame towards me. Somehow the customers fault. Jenny said my case could not be settled. Well my next lawyer got it done at a tiny fraction of what Jenny wanted to charge me. I made the hard decision of finding a new lawyer several months prior to the trial. The difference of my new lawyer was night and day. I also had a later chance to see emails from the opposing lawyer and it was clear some of the issues were because Jenny was dropping the ball. Never responding to the opposing emails. Jenny was hard to get in contact for me as well. Emails were infrequently answered. Never was given her direct number. Voicemail/answering service was the norm when calling the office. Once again a huge difference from my new lawyer who would respond to texts and emails late at night or even on weekends. It was clear that my new lawyer was vested in my case. Likely spent late nights thinking about how the resolve this two year hellish ordeal. In stark contrast to speak to Jenny, I had to schedule a phone appointment during her normal business hours. Finally, the divorce process was a very private affair for me. I did not appreciate the US Postal letters she sent that had her huge logo written all over it "TRIANGLEDIVORCE". Should be discrete. Overall I could not in good faith recommend Jenny. I think for a straight forward case she's likely very capable. For a complex case that required some actual personal attention... I think she's not really invested to make the effort. In the end I don't think she really cared. Just another client and paycheck. Just my opinion.

I had Jenny represent me in my separation process. From day one it was clear to me that her style of work reflected ethics and a desire for a fair settlement. Jenny is extremely knowledgeable and trustworthy. Recognizing how the legal system works she steered me in the right direction on many occasions. She listened to me but more importantly assisted my case without ever getting into nonsensical arguments. This comforted my situation many times and ultimately led to a fair settlement where I could preserve ALL that was important to me. Jenny is the best all-around and knows how to navigate through the rather arduous process with ease and comfort. To summarize she is: 1) Skilled, able and intelligent - made sure ALL my interest was honored. 2) Responsive, thorough and organized - responded to my needs even on Christmas holidays. 3) Cost-conscious with her legal fees and never wasted my or her time

I consulted with attorney Bradley for my divorce (although I practice law too) and also have seen her as a mediator. She is very experienced, knowledgeable, and will tell it to you straight. No puffery or silly gamesmanship as I have seen with other attorneys. I highly recommend Ms. Bradley as one of the top divorce attorneys in the area.

I spoke with Herb on the phone for over 30 minutes and though he doesn’t work on my type of case, he took the time to give me some suggestions on how to move forward and who to speak with. It’s hard to find lawyers who will take the time to do that any more. Thank you!

I want to first and foremost can't express enough of my gratitude Towards the amazing team at Riddle and Brantley. I was in a really bad car accident. And after trying to work with the insurance company with the at fault party and they weren't willing to help me. I honestly felt like it was the end of the road, and no one was going to help me. Then I contacted this company and man old man. I can honestly say they came in the clutch. I'm blessed and grateful to my lawyer Daren Dawson and the exceptionally gifted an incredibly sweet patient Case Manager Kalena Tavares for their time and effort and assisting me when I needed someone the most, they didn't just treat me like a patient. They treated me like family. And I will forever recommend this amazing law firm for all of your law. Needs, thank you guys, you're the best.

Donald Vicini is an extremely knowledgeable attorney. I hired him to represent me and defend me in a custody motion initiated by my ex-husband. My case was unique in that it brought in many different elements into my case/argument. Donald is by the book, knows the law, is confident in the courtroom and made me feel at ease, as much as he could, through my day long trial. Along with NC statutes and precedent knowledge, Donald also has the rare gift of "going with the gut" or instinct when knowing what exhibits to show or questions to counter with. He doesn't waste time or badger witnesses. He cuts to the chase and I believe the judge appreciates the respect he shows to even the opposing party in the courtroom. Mr. Vicini tried my case in a county that he is normally not used to and I thought, initially, that his lack of having a reputation in my small town would be a negative, but it certainly wasn't. In fact, the judge congratulated him, complimented him and shook his hand at the conclusion of my hearing. I would definitely use Mr. Vicini again and highly recommend him to others.

**Don't even bother wasting you're time with this 3rd string pack of attorney rejects. Trent Grissom will tell you 'oh it's my specialty...no problem'. You will then be forced to explain your case several times to him and then put it in writing, all after paying for your official consultion. He is unable to find any solution. They merely just want to run up your bill with redundent question and tactics. There is always exuses for not receiving updates (moving offices, sick, vacation and court - really??). I spent one year with this 'unimaginative clown' and accomplished zero. **Read the real reviews, NOT Google reviews. Poor office support as well. **Avoid at all costs** How anyone who could rate this firm a 4 or 5 must have been paid to do so.👎

We appreciate Daggett Shuler representing us in an auto accident. This was the first time that I have been involved in an accident. We wanted to use Daggett Shuler because we felt confident that our case would be represented fairly when dealing with multiple insurance companies. We recently closed and felt the compensation was fair. I know that if I, alone, had to deal with insurance companies, the compensation would not have been as fair. If you need any type of family law attorney I highly recommend Charles. I would not hear from him nor my daughter in law would see him attend to business. I was assigned Lisa Johnson without having the opportunity to meet her and assess her competency. While my husband was causing the separation process to go longer than expected, it was Ms. Johnson's unprofessional delays and failure to communicate that caused me to sever my relationship with her and the firm. While I tried to reach her by email many times when my husband was shutting off all my utilities, there was only silence. It took two weeks with me finally calling the firm's head attorney before she was instructed to call me. A paralegal never even touched base and the head attorney had no access to my case to offer help. When finally she called, she said she was too busy in court to answer my emails or reach out to me. I continued to work with her and my last communication with her was to ask if we were ready to sign papers. Twenty-four days went by without a single word from Ms. Johnson. I was served with a lawsuit by my husband's attorney at the end of this time and after learning that the lead attorney couldn't access my details when Ms. Johnson was unavailable, I decided it was time to find an attorney who would do their job in a timely manner with a firm that shared access to cases in case my attorney was unavailable. I found out that the only reason the lawsuit was brought against me was because of the delay in hearing from my attorney, which opposing counsel and in particular my husband assumed was caused by me stalling and dragging my feet. I have to incur much greater fees to go to court because of her lack of professionalism and perhaps her inability to handle her case load, and that is after 4 1/2 months and $4700 of accomplishing nothing. I am starting virtually from square one with a new attorney who in one week has accomplished more. I cannot in any way recommend her for help with legal matters due to her lack of performance. I gave her a two star rating because I couldn't bring myself to give only one star, even though she wasn't proactive -which meant reacting to the other attorney at every turn- and my case never moved forward in any perceptable or meaningful direction.

Ms. Johnson did a great job with my divorce. Initially, I had hired a local lawyer in Concord who was disaster. Luckily, through a mutual acquaintance, I was put in contact with Ms Johnson. She did such a fantastic job, I consider my fortune to having her represent me in court. Again, phenomenal lawyer.

Attorney Johnson was an excellent advisor and counsel during my two year divorce and custody case. She helped me walk away with what I wanted and she was relentless in getting the things I needed. I have recommended her to several people because she is an excellent attorney.

I had hired another lawyer, but replaced him as soon as I spoke with Mr. Little. James didn’t over promise, but gave me confidence he knew the anxiety this matter was causing, and the hope that he would have it dismissed entirely. He talked to me like a person, not a case file. Mr. Little did have the matter dismissed on the first court date, while I’m still waiting on the refund from the first lawyer.

The last three years of my life have been the worst I've ever experienced. My mom died of cancer, a month later my wife left me and my brother was murdered all within under a year. I fell in a dark deep depression which I almost didn't make it out of and at the time of my depression my house got foreclosed on. I got a letter in the mail saying I needed a lawyer to try to get back some of the funds for the house. I reached out to Mr. Bailey for guidance. He stepped out of his comfort zone, which is criminal defense to help me get my life back. He kept great communication and helped me understand the process. Even during one of the worst hurricanes we've ever seen here in our mountains he kept communication with me while having no electricity, water or cell service at his residence. Anytime I met with him at his office I felt like family and I felt like the help I was getting was extremely sincere. It's scary out there And it's hard to give your trust but I trusted him like I've known him for 20 years. Mr. Bailey helped me get my life back on track. Which in turn will help me spend more valuable time with my children, One of the most important things you can never get back and for that I am forever grateful!! In closing I want to let everybody know that I highly recommend them and their help in just about anything you're dealing with in life. God bless and God speed🤘 WNC Strong💪

The team generally responded quickly to emails. I incurred late payment penalties (one month for one account, two months for the other) due to not being provided accurate payment projections despite providing all information to the firm in February. Ultimately, the filing felt unnecessarily stressful and rushed. Consultation with other firms to review those filings revealed errors and omissions which will require filing amended returns.

We are new residents to the state of North Carolina having relocated from San Diego California. We had the opportunity to work with Attorney Melissa Gott to update our estate documents. We were impressed with her friendly approach, professionalism, knowledge and patience working through complex questions and offering helpful guidance insuring our docs comply with NC guidelines. This was accomplished while managing costs and not reinventing the wheel in the process. We are happy with the outcome and would recommend anyone needing existing document revisions/update or new estate planning preparation.

Neil Stanifer is the worst attorney ever. $8000 to file the case against the builder that stole our money and did nothing for us. We went to court twice and he batched the case both time. Every meeting he would ask us the same questions and after two years he had no idea what the case was about. We fired him

Attorney Eugene M. Carr, III was simply amazing. God used this man to assist with my divorce and seeking custody in 2012. He allowed me to make payments until the debt was paid in full. I'm forever grateful to him and no matter where I move I will contract his office! Although this review is over a decade late it is still more than relevant. Best lawyer office in western NC.

This is our second go round with Katherine Frye as our PC. The first time Katherine was scolded by the courts for overstepping her role as a Parent Coordinator when she changed the custody schedule, wrongly taking away half of my custody. While Katherine seems very knowledgeable in her field she doesn't seem to use that knowledge very well to help dissolve conflict in high conflict situations. Katherine Frye has consistently ignored emails related to alienation of affection, domestic violence, protection orders, withholding and many other issues, and has continuous used her "power of authority" as she likes to call it, to make many bias, one sided decisions. If you are in a high conflict case, or your co-parent suffers from narcissism, do not proceed with Katherine as your PC because her directives and help can be bought, and manipulated, inevitably becoming one sided. I would have to agree with a previous review that maybe Katherine is too busy with her practice or doesn't care enough to find out the actual issue at hand, because there is no way a law professional is supposed to be this disconnected and nonchalant about major issues.

While Ms Frye may or may not be a good attorney, I would recommend someone else with a therapy background to be your family's parent coordinator. Specifically, Dr. Carolyn Pender-Roche of Next Step Psychology is exceptional. She is a therapist and understands what is in the best interest of the children. Carolyn takes into consideration the psychology of each family member as well as seeks to understand the whole situation even if it takes time. I believe from my experience with Katherine Frye that Katherine is just too busy trying to manage her legal practice to take the time to fully understand the issues at hand. If you want someone who will listen well before hurrying to give a directive, go with Dr Pender Roche or even another therapist. Ultimately having someone who can truly be an advocate for the best interest of your children is what is most important even if they dont always do what you want. If you have an ex that lies well, you dont want Katherine Frye as your PC as she is too busy to notice.

Hello! I hired Ms. Frye, Esquire to review and assist through a complex divorce, and was thoroughly impressed by her knowledge, her willingness to engage and be my advocate, guiding me through multiple particular law procedures that may have inadvertently harmed my case, had I not known about them. I thoroughly recommend her to anyone looking for a powerful advocate through the many hoops, twists, and turns that Divorce proceedings can generate. I bombarded her with questions and 'what-if' scenarios and she was more than willing to take the extra time needed, so I could be fully armed to defend myself and ensure my estate was not damaged in any way. Through her guidance, I successfully dodged pitfalls and weaknesses, and I was able to complete my goals with the divorce swiftly and cleanly. Her staff was a joy to work with and communicate throughout the experience, before, during, and after the case resolution. Prompt, efficient, and an absolute pleasure to talk to. She communicates efficiently and powerfully. I realize it's hard to trust reviews online, but trust this; you will not go wrong choosing her to be on your side! She will be my attorney for life.

What a Mediation Lawyer Can Do for You

A mediation lawyer specializes in resolving disputes outside of the courtroom through a process called mediation. Mediation involves a neutral third-party mediator who helps the disputing parties reach a mutually acceptable agreement. Mediation lawyers can represent clients in various matters, including divorce, business disputes, employment conflicts, contract issues, personal injury claims, and more.

Unlike litigation, mediation is a less adversarial and more cost-effective way to settle disputes, often leading to faster resolutions and preserving relationships between the parties involved.

When Should I Hire a Mediation Lawyer?

Consider hiring a mediation lawyer when you’re involved in a dispute and want to avoid the time, expense, and stress of going to court. Common reasons to hire a mediation lawyer include:

  • Divorce or child custody disputes: A mediation lawyer can help you reach a fair settlement on issues like property division, alimony, and parenting arrangements without going to court.
  • Business or contract disputes: For disagreements such as contract disputes, partnership conflicts, or intellectual property issues, a mediation lawyer can assist in resolving the matter through negotiation.
  • Employment disputes: Issues like wrongful termination, discrimination, or wage disputes can be addressed through mediation to find common ground and avoid lawsuits.
  • Personal injury cases: Mediation can help both parties agree on compensation in cases like car accidents or slip-and-fall claims without a prolonged court battle.
  • Property disputes: Disputes over property ownership, landlord-tenant issues, or boundary disagreements can be settled more amicably through mediation.
  • Family or inheritance disputes: Mediation can help resolve conflicts over wills or trusts without further dividing the family.

What Does a Mediation Lawyer Do?

A mediation lawyer provides a range of services to help clients resolve disputes through negotiation and mutual agreement. Their responsibilities often include:

  • Representing your interests: Acting as your advocate during mediation to ensure your rights are protected and you understand your legal options.
  • Preparing for mediation: Reviewing the facts of the case, gathering necessary documents, and advising you on potential resolutions.
  • Facilitating communication: Helping to facilitate open and constructive dialogue between parties to clarify points of contention.
  • Negotiating settlements: Assisting in negotiating fair and balanced settlement terms that are in your best interest.
  • Drafting mediation agreements: Preparing the official mediation agreement that outlines the terms of the settlement, which is often legally binding.
  • Avoiding litigation: Aiming to reach a settlement that eliminates the need for a court trial, saving time and resources for both parties.
  • Handling complex legal issues: Explaining the legal implications of various settlement terms in cases with complicated legal matters.

How Are Mediation Lawyers Paid?

Mediation lawyers typically charge for their services based on the complexity of the case and the time involved. Common payment methods include:

  • Hourly rate: Charging an hourly fee ranging from $150 to $500 or more, depending on experience and case complexity.
  • Flat fee: For simpler mediations, some lawyers may offer a flat fee covering all legal work involved in the process.
  • Retainer: In ongoing or complex cases, a retainer may be required as an upfront payment billed against as work progresses.

Discuss fees and payment structures with your lawyer during the initial consultation to understand the cost of mediation services.

How Much Does a Mediation Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a mediation lawyer depends on several factors, including the case's complexity, the lawyer’s experience, and the time required to resolve the dispute. General cost estimates include:

  • Hourly rates: Typically between $150 and $500 per hour.
  • Flat fees: For simple mediations, fees may range from $1,000 to $5,000.
  • Total mediation costs: Can vary widely, from $2,000 to $10,000 for straightforward cases, up to $10,000 to $50,000 or more for complex disputes.

Always request a detailed cost estimate during your consultation to understand total expenses.

Top Questions to Ask a Mediation Lawyer

Before hiring a mediation lawyer, consider asking the following questions:

  1. What experience do you have with mediation cases like mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in handling similar disputes.
  2. How do you charge for your services?
Clarify the fee structure and request an estimate based on your specific case.
  3. What is the likelihood of resolving my case through mediation?
Seek an honest assessment of whether mediation is suitable for your situation.
  4. How long will the mediation process take?
Inquire about the expected timeline and number of sessions required.
  5. Will you personally handle my case?
Confirm who will manage your mediation and represent your interests.
  6. Can we pursue alternative dispute resolution (ADR) if necessary?
Ask about other forms of ADR, such as arbitration, if mediation doesn't resolve the conflict.

How to Check the Credibility of a Mediation Lawyer

To ensure you're hiring a reputable mediation lawyer, take the following steps:

  • Verify their bar status: Confirm with your state bar association that the lawyer is licensed and has no disciplinary history.
  • Look for mediation experience: Review their website or professional profile for specialization in mediation and successful case histories.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Check platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google for client feedback.
  • Ask for references: Request references from past clients familiar with their mediation skills.
  • Check for certifications: Look for certifications from organizations like the American Arbitration Association (AAA) or the Association for Conflict Resolution (ACR).

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To maximize the effectiveness of your initial meeting, bring the following:

  • Relevant documents: Any materials related to the dispute, such as contracts, emails, financial records, or court filings.
  • List of key issues: A detailed list of the main points of contention that need resolution.
  • Timeline of events: A chronological account of events leading up to the dispute, including prior resolution attempts.
  • Goals for the mediation: Be prepared to discuss your desired outcomes and areas where you're willing to compromise.
  • Questions for the lawyer: Any queries about the mediation process, fees, or their approach to dispute resolution.

Being well-prepared will help the lawyer assess your case effectively and provide the best possible advice for resolving your dispute through mediation.
