This attorney office is God awful. They support the other side and are against low income individuals. They are obviously an organization that supports the real estate market and contributes to putting people on benefits in the street. Sharon, a lawyer there lied and said Good Cause Eviction Law wasn't good across NYS and went against Assemblyman Pat Burke's office. I called to make sure my illegal, discriminatory eviction case was closed, and at first told me it was closed, then proceeded to give me 5 outcomes and go against Pat Burke's office and NYS Division of Human Rights Bronx, NY. She then told me I supposedly had no understanding of the Good Cause Eviction Law. Sharon ought to be fired and get a job at something she is good at, not law.

Approximately 20 years ago I was introduced to this firm by one of my friends. David Hoffberg was my attorney. He was very knowledgeable, helpful, personable. He had patience and made sure everything was explained in layman’s terms. I felt as if he was a personal friend at the conclusion of my case. I referred a relative to him. Unfortunately, he left the firm and the attorney that took my relative’s case was rude, lacked patience, did not stay in contact and ultimately told her after she moved out of state they contacted her and told her they wanted to terminate her case. I’m sorry I referred her in the end.

Attorny Gelbman was hired to take care of a traffic violation in upstate new york for me. He told me the matter was resolved and provided me with a document and a fine which I paid. Turns out that he gave me the wrong documents and the fine was sent to a different court altogether. After I had informed him of his mistake he acknowledged it and said he'd "take care of it" but then he stopped responding to my/off the record's phone calls. Highly unprofessional.

I didn't have an idea that I could get compensated by the car insurance for my injuries. I had an idea that they would cover my hospital fees but didn't even think I was going to get close to $30K for compensation. I was very naive and the insurance company doesn't tell you what kind of rights you have. They just want to get things out of the way very quickly. Somehow I found this video of Max on YouTube and decided to give him a call. And boy, I'm glad I did. He's very professional and friendly. It's like you're with a family member. You can trust him very quickly and he doesn't talk like a lawyer with riddling and complicated language. He explained to me everything in a way that I was able to understand very well. Anyway, I would highly recommend Max. He's very good. I guess it's experience. I'm 40 years old and I think he said he's been practicing for 45 years. I mean, my parents were just getting married when he was already in court handling cases! Thank you Max. Lisa C.

Max is one of the most personable attorneys you'll ever meet. He's very caring and confident. I guess it's his 40+ years experience. The building I was living in caught on fire. He was able to get me a great settlement. He made things very easy and he was swift. I didn't have to do much. He did everything for me with his team. He's very straight to the point and get things done. I actually was surprised with my settlement. I was expecting less but he negotiated for me to get a lot more. I strongly recommend him.

He promised alot but in the end he delivered very little. Would have to make at least 10 calls before he would return one and then he was filled with double talk. Once case was settled he took a huge chunk in "filing fees" but never produced any documents showing me. I could say alot more but I wont bother. His only concern is himself and every conversation would somehow lead around to his golf game. If you use him be prepared to be intimidated by the company he keeps.

This past spring (2018), I was traveling to Syracuse University from Washington, DC, when I was stopped by a NY State Trooper and charged with a serious traffic infraction (reckless driving/speeding). Even more concerning is the fact that I was undergoing a background check for a high-level position. If convicted of these charges, it could have cost me a job. Mr. Dorsey got on my case immediately. In the end, I pleaded guilty to a bad muffler (no points and small fine). Mr. Dorsey is legit!

Most of the reviews praising his etiquette aren't accurate at ALL! He's horrible and one should avoid him at all costs. He doesn't contact you with updates pertaining to your case and he's extremely repetitive (and seems to fail at getting things done). I ALMOST referred my girlfriend to him following her car accident, but then I realized...this guy still hasn't gotten a settlement for me so why on earth should I refer any more clients to him?! He's a disgrace and you literally have to constantly pester him with phone calls just to receive simple updates relating to the status of your case. AVOID HIM AT ALL COSTS! 2/10.

I would like to take this opportunity to express my extreme gratitude and appreciation for all your hard work and relentless effort and persistence in pursuing a positive outcome in my legal battle. It was one of the hardest and most emotional situations I have ever been in, and I felt throughout the process you went over and beyond the call of duty to resolve the matter as quickly and fairly as possible. Your confidence and assurance helped me tremendously in coping with the process, yet you were always truthful and forthright. I was always kept in the loop and was educated and informed throughout the lawsuit. Your patience and professionalism were impressive, but your sincere caring and concern was what really set you apart from most attorneys. You couldn’t have been more thorough and accurate, especially since this was complicated and complex in that you had to deal with an agency intent on taking my Career when the evidence didn’t warrant that course of action. Overall, you are truly an anomaly and I will be forever grateful to you. Though I hope no one has to go through what I went through, I highly recommend you to the Law Offices of Steve Newman if anyone is looking for a top Attorney to defend Government Employees that are in trouble.

Last summer i was in a auto accident. I sustained injuries due to the accident and now 9 months later still being treated. I was referred to Mr Cooper from a friend. As far as Mr Cooper he is A honorable man and in no way am i saying anything negative about him his honesty integrity or service to his clients. After months of being rep by Mr Coopers office i had not recieved lost wages from no fault. I would call the office to help me with this issue the assistant would tell me that they dont have anything to do with that part of compensation. They would listen on a 3 way call between me and my no fault provider. During 1 of the 3 way calls the assistant took it upon there selves to interject and state to my adjuster that they had been injuried and after a couple weeks of going thru the process needed to recover lost wages medical bills ect said they gave up on doing so and went back to work i guess suggesting that i do the same. I couldnt believe what i had heard. After maybe or month or two that passed after that incendent i called the office to see what was done about the lost wages and was again being talked down to by the assistant who thought because they were busy that my case didnt matter that much. She was being rude so we engaged in shouting match which then lead to being forwarded to Mr. Cooper. As i tried to explain my issue he shouted and protested the staff has done nothing wrong. I am not an idiot im sure Mr Cooper has a long history with his staff and would easily withdraw from any client who wouldnt cooperate with his staff which is why have nothing to say bad about Mr Cooper. I then sent a letter stating that i will no longer need his assistance on my case and would hire another lawyer. After looking online found another lawyer which sounded like a good choice but i was sadly mistaken. I should've have known as he started to slender Mr Cooper and his practice that he was no to be trusted. After 2 months the 2nd lawyer withdrew for according to him 10k or 20k is not worth his time. Now with a third lawyer on the case there was a lien set by Mr. Cooper. The 2nd lawyer told me that he had to pay Mr. Cooper for the work he had done and that he himself would not put a lien on the case. My question is if they were so busy that they couldnt find time to focus on my case that they would have the time to put a lien on my case? Is this fair and what else can i do about this

I hired him through pre-trial motions for $2500 for an E felony which he said he would get dismissed with a single motion. Upon my refusal of a misdemeanor plea because I was innocent, he said he would withdraw from the case if I did not pay more, I have a witness who signed an affirmation to this. He misread NYC law for NYS law, missed the fact that the felony complaint was not only fraudulent, but had me committing a crime in Auburn NY when I was working in Batavia, NY (3hours drive west!). He is incompetent, and inattentive. He actually had to be called on his cell phone by THE JUDGE to appear in Court and represent me. Legal research, yep, on his cellphone in-between colluding with the DA. I am currently filing a civil lawsuit against him. Oh, and he waived speedy trial against my verbal and written direction (again with a witness) screwing me over for a 30.30 dismissal. 13 months later, I got myself out of jail by self representing (Pro Se).

The Home kept his prepaid $8700.00, I was forced to pay in home care for the first month that was around 12,000. that extinguished the rest of the cash reserves and Hann refused to reimburse. So when the Home contacted us for placement we did not have the funds to place him. I frantically tried to get accounting from Hann of trust for Medicaid and was refused and Hann refused to reimburse for the care I was forced to do as assisted home was kicking him out and closing. Molly Hann Turned me in for Adult abuse and The Franklin County Storm Troopers , "ADULT PROTECTION SERVICES "CAME IN ACCUSING ME OF ABUSE IN FRONT OF MY MOM AND A VOLUNTEER CARE GIVER., Who had 30 plus years of Institutionalized care services. They said they were pulling my dads bank records , go ahead their out of money....That's why I filed for Medicaid... Hospice was their twice a week. NYS Troopers refused to even come see him , DA refused to follow NYS laws as well. Believing what Hann had told them. That law firm intentionally withheld need care of Two disabled people to profit off trust.Every time bills are sent in they refused to pay until Trooper showed up. Myself and Volunteer took care of him till his Horrible death. Child had a new car and considerable amount of dry food that I requested for Parents as They do not have good teeth, Father had very little, They were refused. Mom lived off food pantry and Volunteer bought food for both parents.I have no Vehicle, and had to borrow one to take dad places.,My moms Has over 100,000 on hers and 3 years left of payments as well and moved from dad as he was violent. Dad had to be in back seat or their was issues with him. Childs NEW Big Van would have been great for parents care, it was sold very cheaply, and the request food as well, Their were Thousands of dollars of bills turned in Hann refused all, Accounting requested for medicaid and Hann refused that as well... When turn in to Troopers for NYS trust law, Hann paid one co pay on drug bills that were sent directly to them. The drug Company kept shutting off his meds Till I paid the bill, Then after his Death trust paid couple small co pays for meds.. Due to the negligence of Hann both parents could not get medicaid which they were approved for but I did not have money for spend down ,as the trust did have, and refused to reimburse for dads care. I was their when my sibling died, I know what she wanted done as this is some thing that we had talked about prior to sibling passing as we took care of Parent at siblings home for a week, Sibling finally realized what was with their care. My parents agreement was for them to die at Home, all sibling had agreed on that 10 years prior but as with all families, Im told when its time to step up to the plate its a different story...

I became Andrew Sfouggatakis client in 2012. He was friendly and nice and told me the suit would be over in 6 months to a year. The case was settled and we won in 2018- 6 years later. We had previously emailed back and forth and he did respond during this time, however I have e-mailed him over 30 times since the last response I got from him, which was July 12, 2018. His last response was "the check will be here any day". Since July 12, 2018 (over a year ago- it is now September 2019) I have e-mailed, called numerous times, left messages with the secretary and paralegal and I have yet to receive a phone call back. As a client I feel I was not treated with professionalism nor with common courtesy. I am left wondering where is my settlement?

What a Medical Malpractice Lawyer Can Do for You

A medical malpractice lawyer specializes in helping individuals who have been harmed due to the negligence or misconduct of healthcare professionals, such as doctors, nurses, or hospitals. These lawyers assist in cases where a healthcare provider deviates from the accepted standard of care, resulting in injury or death. Medical malpractice cases can involve misdiagnosis, surgical errors, medication mistakes, birth injuries, and other forms of medical negligence.

If you or a loved one has suffered harm due to improper medical treatment, a medical malpractice lawyer can help you understand your legal options, file a lawsuit, and pursue compensation for medical expenses, pain and suffering, lost wages, and other damages.

When Should I Hire a Medical Malpractice Lawyer?

Hiring a medical malpractice lawyer is essential if you’ve been seriously injured due to the negligence of a healthcare provider or institution. Situations where you should seek legal representation include:

  • Misdiagnosis or delayed diagnosis: If a doctor fails to diagnose or delays diagnosing a medical condition, leading to harm or progression of the illness.
  • Surgical errors: Harm resulting from surgical mistakes such as operating on the wrong site, leaving instruments inside the body, or performing unnecessary procedures.
  • Medication errors: Injuries caused by prescribing the wrong medication or dosage, or mistakes made by pharmacists in dispensing drugs.
  • Birth injuries: Injuries to a newborn due to medical negligence during labor and delivery, such as failing to perform a timely C-section or improper use of delivery instruments.
  • Anesthesia errors: Complications arising from improperly administered anesthesia, which can lead to serious injury or death.
  • Inadequate follow-up or aftercare: Suffering due to lack of proper monitoring or care after a medical procedure, leading to complications.
  • Hospital or nursing home negligence: Harm caused by the negligence of hospital staff, nurses, or administrators who failed to provide adequate care.

Medical malpractice cases are complex, and hiring a lawyer early can help ensure your rights are protected and your case is handled effectively.

What Does a Medical Malpractice Lawyer Do?

A medical malpractice lawyer provides various legal services to help injured patients hold negligent healthcare providers accountable. Their responsibilities include:

  • Evaluating your case: Reviewing medical records and consulting with experts to determine if you have a viable claim based on the standard of care and harm suffered.
  • Filing a lawsuit: Initiating legal action by filing a complaint against the responsible parties in the appropriate court.
  • Gathering evidence: Collecting medical records, expert testimonies, and other relevant evidence to build a strong case.
  • Negotiating with insurance companies: Working to secure a fair settlement that compensates you for your injuries without the need for a trial.
  • Litigating in court: Representing you during trial proceedings if a settlement cannot be reached, presenting evidence and arguing your case.
  • Calculating damages: Assessing the full extent of your losses, including medical expenses, lost income, pain and suffering, and future care needs.
  • Handling expert testimony: Coordinating with medical experts who can testify on how the standard of care was breached and how it led to your injuries.

How Are Medical Malpractice Lawyers Paid?

Most medical malpractice lawyers work on a contingency fee basis, which means they only get paid if they recover compensation for you. Key aspects of this payment structure include:

  • Contingency fee percentage: The lawyer's fee is typically between 25% and 40% of the settlement or award.
  • No upfront costs: You do not pay any legal fees unless the lawyer successfully recovers compensation on your behalf.
  • Case expenses: Costs for expert witnesses, medical record retrieval, and court fees may be deducted from your settlement or award in addition to the lawyer's fee.

Always discuss the fee arrangement during your initial consultation to understand your financial obligations.

How Much Does a Medical Malpractice Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a medical malpractice lawyer is usually based on a contingency fee model. General estimates include:

  • Contingency fee: Lawyers typically charge between 25% and 40% of the total recovery amount.
  • Case expenses: Additional costs such as expert witness fees and court expenses can range from $5,000 to $50,000 or more, depending on the case complexity.

Ensure you receive a clear explanation of all potential fees and expenses before proceeding with your case.
