I had a free consultation with James Tienken. He was very helpful and kind. He was very timely in responding to my request for a consultation, during the time frame I requested. I agree with the last reviewer who stated he is knowledgable and efficient. In the short amount of time we spoke, he answered many of my questions and provided me clear direction on how to proceed with regard to real estate properties and small business planning. I thought I would have to spend thousands of dollars for advice; however, Mr. Tienken saved me a great deal of time and money with his clear and sound guidance.

At 1st glance, my case was simple. Mom VS dad fighting over custody of our son.
But when you started to look deeper, you would find that this was anything but a simple case.
Key points, I am a naturalized American citizen born and raised in South Korea, my ex and I met and were married and divorced in Korea while he was stationed there with the US Army. When the divorce was finalized (without a parenting plan due to some conflicts between Korean and American law) , our son was living in Colorado with his paternal grandparents against my wishes. Shortly after the divorce I moved from Korea to WA state and my ex was relocated by the Army to Kansas State.
Once I established residency in WA I filed by proxy with Megan Kahn for custody of my son after my ex and his family continued to deny me all contact with my son.
As soon as the case was opened the grandparent's hired a lawyer and joined the case as intervenors. This brought the case up to 3 parties involved.
So to sum up; Divorced with no parenting plan, 2 countries, 3 states, 3 parties and the US Army
With all those factors; I couldn't have hoped for better legal counsel than Megan Kahn.
She was very compassionate, informative, patient (I have a thick accent and it can be difficult to communicate over the phone) and never failed to make me feel like I was family and that she truly cared.
Our day in court couldn't have gone better, thanks to Mrs. Kahn's guidance, a situation that could have been terrifying was still scary but I felt better emotionally prepared for it than I thought possible. And her performance was above and beyond anything I could have hoped for
To sum up, anyone who finds themselves in the unfortunate position to need legal counsel, will never regret hiring Megan.

A more diligent and trustworthy lawyer, I could not have asked for. I have just completed a highly contested case that the opposing council kept trying to delay. After false promises from opposing council of mediation and settlement negotiations, Megan wisely advised me that we’d need to proceed to trial. With the health of my son, and the future of my parenting involvement with him at stake, Megan focused my energy on obtaining positive results from our trial. She expertly advised me on tasks that kept me on schedule and strengthened our position. Aware of the benefits and risks, we headed to trial.
Her calm courtroom demeanour is quickly apparent. She was intimately familiar with the case and never asked a question without knowing the reply, or the result of the question. She expertly crafted her line of questioning to present evidence to the judge without risk of objection. Our position was tightly woven leaving the opposing council no room to attack and leaving the judge a clear picture of our stance on major topics. Her reasoning and tact was focused and determined.
On redirect, Megan quickly exposed the holes in opposing council’s arguments and rendered many of their points untenable. Her line of questioning was clever and effective in eliciting the needed responses from the other party without provoking hostility. It was very effective in exposing the other party’s faulty reasoning to the judge.
I could not give Megan Kahn a higher recommendation. She has helped set up a foundation with my parenting schedule that will endure the test of time, avoiding future court cases. She was instrumental in the overall success of the case.

Mark Nelson represented a number of homeowners in a construction defect case that we were part of. Mark, or one of his staff members, was always prompt in his responses when we had questions for him. He is personable and his staff is friendly and knowledgeable.
Mark was not overly informative or involved in the time leading up to our arbitration, but had our case well laid out. He proved our case exceptionally well and was actually enjoyable to watch in action. He had a response for every objection from the other lawyers and knew why he asked the questions he did. He always cited prior court cases and statutes to back up his legal opinions.
Mark listened to our concerns and responded appropriately. He did not always provide good news, but he was honest and straightforward with answers to our questions. Even when he did not have good news to provide to us, he had a game plan to counteract it. I appreciated his honesty with us and not sugar coating the bad stuff. He did not lead us to believe that everything would go our way and kept us grounded in reality.

Mike represented me in an insurance matter that was brought on by a presumed multiple PHd attorney. Mike was so well prepared the litigation once presented in court was hopeless. It was most interesting to see the opposition reduced to foolish rhetoric and admonished by the judge. I should have countersued but I find all of this unpleasant and non productive to a healthy society.
I would trust Mike to defend my children if need be. He means business without the hyperbole.

Scott's be an incredible source of support and information to me over the last couple of years. I remember Howard Bittman defending me on a few occasions some years back. (20+ plus years ago)I was charged with 8 felonies. Yes, 8 felonies all at the same time. This man saved my life. He was able to get 6 of the felony charges dismissed. I did 60 days home detention and payed some restitution for my last 2 . My friends have used him over the years with awesome results. In 2007 and 2008 the construction firm for whom I worked as HR Manager had an employment claim filed by a former employee who felt he was wrongly classified as a non-exempt employee. In our relationship with the law firm, Diane started in a supporting role but saw her role in the case expand when the lead attorney left to join another firm. Diane clearly understood the world of construction and showed the capability to apply employment law principles to the realities of construction work. Diane was always well-prepared and had examined every possible detail of the case prior to a meeting or hearing. As my company's representative for this case, I had complete confidence in Diane's work, which then provided good reason to have confidence in her legal opinions.

It's been awhile since I used his service, but I am very pleased with the results. It's difficult to explain, but for the short story, my identity was "stolen" by a debt collector by adding my name name as an "alias". This was all done without my knowledge. You see, I was in the middle of getting my house refinanced through the Home Affordability Act. I was going through a very rough time time due to disability and the mortgage company was on the side pushing for Fore Closure. As a result I was keeping very close tabs of my credit history making sure I was aware of everything possible. During this time I had received notification of some negative information on my credit report. Knowing I have been working very hard to get back on my feet I was sure all of my payments were on time, etc. so I got concerned about maybe some foreclosure event taking place. I went to Adams County web site and checked public records on myself just to see what was or wasn't in there. I was shocked what I found next. There was a judgement listed under my name, and my name was listed as an alias. Went down to Adams County to find out what the heck was going on only to be detained (without choice) because there was an arrest warrant and my name was listed as an alias. After embarrassing the deputies when the ran my fingerprints through CBI, I was released and given copies of the case for which this all happened. After careful review I found a sleazy debt collected had basically convinced himself and then Adams County Court that my name should be added as an alias to a debt collection. Well I was upset to say the least. After trying to address this on my own first it was apparent that I needed help. I had contacted Marks office and explained my situation. Mark was very generous in coming to my home and listening to my situation.
Mark attempted to resolve issue out of court first, however as one might expect we ended up in filing for action. Once that was done, things were very different. Mark was able to keep me calm while handling the case. I'm not real easy to deal with when I'm upset, my emotion gets in the way of clear thinking. Mark was able to navigate through the process to a clear resolution. Mark was very gracious in understanding my financial situation and worked out a payment plan so I could rest at night knowing I'm being taken care and I'm not going to go bankrupt. My good name has been restored, and judgement removed! No one should have to go through this, but I'm glad Mark was around to help.
