Jonathan Corey was a great divorce lawyer to have on my side. I went through a tough divorce, was dealing with a large marital estate and a long term marriage. I was really worried about all of the complexities of our estate dealing with real estate, stocks, retirement accounts, precious metals, etc., not to mention children and all of the other things that have to be dealt with. I cannot thank everyone enough at Corson & Johnson! I was in an accident when I was still in college and thought there was nothing further I could do about the situation. If you are looking to hire a responsive, professional attorney to complete work for you, do not hire this person. Every single step takes weeks. The office is unresponsive and you can’t even speak directly to Mr Evans. You will be ignored for weeks, and then given excuses when they finally communicate with you about your case. There are better options in the area.

Absolutely the best! I had lost my disability and an appeal. Insurance companies are NOT your friends and they will do everything they can to keep you from money you are entitled to! Roy Law came in and fixed it all. They really know what they are doing! A special shout out to Kali! She not only dealt with the insurance company but also kept me from going crazy over me having had to deal with them (I really was desperate and knew that I was probably out of luck!) She also made the yearly recertification a breeze (for me at least. It was a LOT of work I initially thought I was going to have to do, but she took care of all of it!) I cannot think of a way they could have made the experience better (except for me to hire them earlier and save myself a TON of aggravation and anxiety!!!) Thanks for all the help and hard work! It is very much appreciated!

I was very concerned when I first applied to Roy Law Group, and to be honest scared. I had paid for short term disability and long term disability and was denied through my insurers even though I was diagnosed with Cancer! To my surprise, the people at Roy Law group: Chris, Mallory and Holly, were all so professional but what surprised me was they cared. They took time to get to know me, ask me the tough questions. When I opted to call Dave about a real estate transaction that I was being sued over, I never knew how fortunate I was in making that call. What should have been an easy matter to resolve turned into a 2.5 year battle - all because of the unprofessional behavior of the opposing council. I knew very little about the civil litigation process and statutes that govern them. Dave was very patient with me and made sure I understood along the way what to expect and the options I had at each decision point. In this way, he was a coach and trusted teammate. I could always depend on Dave to communicate quickly and openly everything that was going on between him and the opposing counsel. When I would ask for his opinion I could expect a calming voice on the phone often talking me off the ledge as I would catastrophize the situation. His advice was invaluable. These were the “soft” skills that Dave brings to the practice. Things that maybe you wouldn’t consider in choosing a lawyer. He presents himself as the neighbor next door and has a wide range of contacts and resources to draw upon. In addition to his personal style, Dave is an excellent lawyer and his years of experience shine in his knowledge of the law and the steps that need to be taken at each point in the case. In the end, we won the case without having to go to trial. But I had total confidence that if we would have gone to trial, we would have prevailed because of Dave’s preparation and full understanding of the case and the approach he would have taken. What could have turned into a financially ruinous situation for me turned into a windfall with a partial return of money that I had spent defending myself. DO NOT HESITATE TO MAKE THE CALL if you find yourself in need of a responsible lawyer that you can trust and depend on to represent you fairly and when necessary aggressively.

Grant has done a great job handling my divorce over the now two years that it has been going. He is intelligent and direct. He also knows the Hillsboro legal community, which is a great plus.
I give Grant my highest recommendation.
The rest of this review is just general advice on divorce with some comments as they relate to Grant...the stuff I wish someone had told me.
1) Things will go bad in the divorce. I don't care what you are saying to yourself right now. They will go bad. I promise. Get a lawyer right now if you can afford it.
2) Remember that lawyers get paid by the hour. Don't waste time telling them how much of a jerk your spouse is. They know. Just treat it like a business contract that went bad. The more emotional you are the worse the mistakes you are going to make. All that stuff is better done in mediation.
3) Get self counseling. I know that you believe that your spouse is the one with the problem. You are likely correct. But there are still insights that you can gain. Do you know why you picked the person you did? Do you know what you don't want in the future? Do you know what's best in terms of parenting time and your behavior around your ex? Maybe you do, but this is another thing I can only promise will help you.
4) Don't argue with your lawyer. You are probably wrong and they are probably right. This doesn't mean that you shouldn't question things you don't understand and also "trust but verify". Still, you are not, whether you know it or not, in the best mental condition. Grant, as well as any good lawyer has a much better perspective on the case than you do. Help them.
5) If you have assets over, let's say 50K, buy yourself an accountant. Believe me. They are very cheap compared to the expense every time the lawyer on the other side is confused. Grant is pretty good at accounting. However, don't assume that lawyers know anything about finances. The accountant can also talk in terms that your lawyer understands and can clarify much better than you can. They can also testify, if need be, to explain things to the judge.
6) Your lawyer is on your side. If he says something you don't like, well maybe its something you need to hear. Talk with him and treat him as if you are a team working for a common cause.
7) Always be the "good guy". Treat everyone with respect, be honest with the other side including admitting when you make a mistake. The process understands that no one is perfect. If you show you are trying your best to be fair and civil you will really do much better.
8) Oh, one last thing: Don't worry about how much a lawyer charges per hour. Why not? Well frankly you will rack up thousands of dollars in legal costs except for the most trivial of divorce. So, let's say you have a great lawyer that charges $250/hour and the crappiest one who was at the bottom of his class charges you $150. Yes, that's a big difference, but you get what you pay for. Seriously, not all lawyers are good...some are down-right crappy. So don't pick one only based on price.
9) Whoops, one final thing: Pay your lawyer NO MATTER WHAT. Money will be tight, but the last thing you want is for your lawyer to be worried if he is going to get paid or not. Imagine wondering if you will get paid at your job every week...a real demotivator! Work out what you need to do..talk to them if you can't pay, but always pay.
Good luck. It is a long road, but it does get better and there is an end.

He doesn’t care! He sees dollar signs and tells me I should sue my past attorney for what she failed to include in my divorce. Doesn’t even want to look at the bank statements and my husbands Quicken account with my son’s savings account numbers, and my account numbers, set for download and transfer… which he did. He doesn’t care that my husband abused and stole from my kids and I, prior to our marriage. This attorney is book smart. Immature at life. Talks down to me as if I’m a child; I’m at least twice his senior. Arrogant firm; arrogant attorney.

Never happened..I called again, this lady didn't see the notes taken, asked me to explain.. once again as I am in need of help, says I'll call you tomorrow, never did. I call again, an tried connecting online twice at this point.. Fourth call I have to explain situation to be relayed to someone who might have time to hear her as soon as he was free to do so, to expect a call in morning if not that day. Don't not hear a word back as I truly needed the direction or even a simple no but maybe try this person. Kinda made me feel unjusted as I still do, still can't seem to say the right words to have a lawyer call me back for a true consultation. By the reviews I see a great group of people ...
