Carolann was recommended to me by a family friend who also utilized her services for a divorce, and I could not have been happier with the decision I made to hire her as my attorney. Carolann was very professional, responsive, and knowledgeable. She was quick to anticipate my needs, and was excellent with following up on issues as needed. I am very happy with the services that were provided in my situation, and I would recommend Carolann to anyone seeking legal representation.

While I was trying to answer HIS question in court, he interrupted me to tell me that my disability becoming debilitating after the death of mother didn’t matter even though it was directly related to the matter at hand and why I was there. He was hostile and a bully from the moment he started speaking and didn’t stop. He’s a heartless person only in it for the money. Don’t trust him to protect you.

He overbills for every little thing he does. I found myself with exorbitant bills and very little to show for it. Seemed like nothing was being done on my case to justify it. As someone else said here, very little communication. The work was shoddy in my opinion, just reflecting a general lack of care.

Fiore Bucci only answers your calls until you give him your retainer. After that don't expect a call back or an email. I've left 3 or 4 calls and emails and no answer. And when you do get him on a phone for his lack of responding he charges you for it. I had to get a new lawyer and start over after I paid him close to $1,600 and almost nothing was done. When you do press him to do something, he promises it and days go by and nothing is done. When he says he'll have something for you on a certain day, don't expect him to do what he commits to. I think he is the wrong profession.

Needing a Lawyer is never a stress-free endeavor, However Kevin Kutyla walk us through all the hoops and red tape, it's by no means a short process and even though his office is a busy office. Norina his legal assistant made sure that no matter how small the news we were promptly informed- They make a great team, and I recommend him for all your legal needs regarding Worker's Comp. Can't thank them enough. We are very pleased.

Kutyla took on my WC case and promised to advocate for me and secure medical care and TTD. Instead he sat on the case, never returned phone calls, did absolutely nothing to advocate for me. When opposing counsel created a B.S. WC fraud charges Kutyla wanted to throw in the towel as he never wants to go to trial and risk the legal costs. He promised big and delivered nothing.

Mr. Rupinski is very good at handling common personal legal needs such as contract reviews, lease/document reviews, simple divorces, traffic/motor vehicle issues, insurance-company disputes and settlements. However, For more complicated issues that may require specialised expertise, I have found him unwilling to concede that a matter is above his head, or beyond his ability/expertise. So be prepared to specifically ask for a referral to an attorney who specializes in YOUR issues should the specifics of your case become more involved, or complex enough to require specialised knowledge.

He did nothing that I asked him to do and is very unprofessional and took weekz to get back to me and when he finally did he gave me bad advice that almost made me commit fraud. Luckily I questioned his advice and found out that what he told me was not correct and I discontinued his representation so I can find a real attorney that knows what they are talking about … as they say you get what you pay for and he is cheap but if he gives you bad advice then doesn’t call you back until 10 days later after multiple attempts to contact him is it really worth it?

She got the courts to emancipate not only his two adult children we had requested, but also had his third adult child emancipated. It was a difficult case to say the least yet Jacqueline persevered and we won on all angles. We are now hiring Jacqueline again to prepare him for his retirement . Hired Jorden N. Pedersen Jr. for a federal workers compensation case. Had an on the job injury. Taken out by ambulance to Hospital. Jorden Pedersen misrepresented me on every level. Extremely poor defense, next to 0. I asked him repeatedly to subpoena appropriate people to my defense. Never did, at one point told me its too late, LIE. Two family members he called to my defense only. Opposing attorneys defense was to slander my good name and make me out to be a liar. No objections when called derogatory names. He allowed me to be abused with no defense. He divulged personal information I gave him to opposing attorney. Jorden Pedersen tells me that a certain person that testified against me hurt me the most, yet no rebuttal, cross examination, nothing. Actually he got up and walked out of court room after spewing lies. Jorden Pedersen did not advise me to file for SSD or unemployment. I was entitled to both and didn't know it. Gave me false information. Also failed to add all injuries and medical into case. He intentionally set me up for failure. I would never ever recommend him to my worst enemy. Unethical attorney in too deep with opposing attorneys. One in particular best friend per Jorden Pedersen. Conflict of interest. Read deep into my statements for they are facts. Too many to list and of course censored. He disrespected me and the oath he took. This is fact and truth. If had below 0 rating that would be too good for him. My experience with him was a travesty!

No!!!!! My lawyer (Scott A. Telson, Esq.) was terrible. He gave Me wrong advise. Rushed through phone calls and lacked empathy and professionalism. My case could’ve been strong, had we looked deeper and spent more time in the case as well as putting the time worth for his easily hardly earned 20% commission. Don’t get fooled when he tells you he’s taking 2% when he really means 20%! When asking him about commission/payment, he will rush through the details and show annoyance when asked twice or explanation about something. Wouldn’t recommend. Reporting them to the bar and bbb

There’s no coming Really dissatisfied. I wouldn’t recommend Lombardi and Lombardi. From what I been through. The owner and with Paul. My attorney not to be trusted. They are hard to contact for questions. Talk down to you. Like your the victim. Never polite. When I try to talk to the owner. The lady that Answers on oak tree road. Talks nasty. When I like to speak to them. I waited so long for them and trusted them. To do my case. Once you have a lawyer taking your case. No other lawyers will take your case. Paul turned his back on me. To go farther and get the money I deserve. Not talking top dollars. But the injuries I have. Have permanent injuries. Missing 4+years from work. Only gotten 1 year of pay if I had worked that year. This law firm do not care about clients. Most likely sell you out and move on to the next case and they will make sure they get their full pay and say bye your case done. Find a law firm that will care about their clients. Because this law firm showed me they don’t care about clients. As I was one of their clients. So don’t do it. You only get one shot to get what you deserve! There’s no coming back saying I pick the wrong lawyer. I wouldn’t go back and use this law firm in the future and wouldn’t recommend anyone. Not even my family and friends. To use this law firm back saying I pick the wrong lawyer

Mr. Barbieri represented me about 12 years ago when I was still a juvenile. The case involved when I allegedly assaulted another student who spit on me and shouted out racial slurs to me. He wanted me to admit to the assault and hope for “sympathy from the prosecutors”; so what ended up happening was that I stayed in the juvenile detention center for two weeks and sentenced to house arrest for 90 days. He isn’t only useless, he makes it worse; he is worse than any public defender.

Mr. Barbieri was in my opinion horrible. He did nothing for my case. I gave him ammo and he didn't even use it. What should have been a slam dunk ended with me having to pay a hefty fine. There were so many holes in the "witnesses" story and Mr. Barbieri just let them continue lying without question. It seemed like he wanted me to do what he wanted me to do and didn't want to listen or defend me or anything I had to say. I would not recommend him to anyone that actually wants to win their case!

I was in a legal conflict with my sister. The issue was an inheritance that she claimed she never received. Initially, my case was handled by a New York firm, which I subsequently found out had NEVER appeared on my behalf, in fact until Ms.Beirne took the case I hadn’t known a that they never put an answer in? My case was referred to a NJ attorney but it was too much for his office. He then requested Ms. Beirne to take over the handling of the case. The case was started in 2014. Ms. Beirne got the case the end of 2018 beginning of 2019. She jumped on the case even though she had other clients that needed her attention as well. She is the person that advised me that there had never been answer put in on my behalf. The case was settled April 2019 to my complete satisfaction. She, Ms. Beirne has restored my faith in lawyers. She answered my questions and emails and was always patient with me. I am giving her 5 stars for business acumen, professionalism and damn smart and dedication. There aren’t enough words or room in this document to laud her abilities. I recently had the unfortunate experience of hiring Greg for my divorce case, and I cannot express how disappointed and frustrated I am with the services provided. From start to finish, the entire process was a nightmare, and I strongly advise anyone considering this attorney to look elsewhere. First and foremost, communication was abysmal. It seemed like getting a response from Greg was an impossible task. My emails and calls went unanswered for days, if not weeks, leaving me in the dark about crucial developments in my case. It felt as though I was an afterthought, and my concerns were constantly brushed aside. Furthermore, the lack of preparation and attention to detail was astounding. During court hearings, it became apparent that Greg was ill-prepared, stumbling through arguments and often appearing clueless about the specifics of my case. This not only reflected poorly on their professionalism but also left me feeling unprotected and vulnerable in a situation that already carried immense emotional weight. The billing practices were another major issue. Greg was quick to nickel-and-dime me for every minute of their time, even for tasks that should have been included in the overall service. The final bill was exorbitant, and I felt taken advantage of during an already financially challenging period. To add insult to injury, the final outcome of my divorce settlement was far from satisfactory. Greg failed to negotiate effectively on my behalf, resulting in an agreement that left me in a significantly worse position than I could have been with competent legal representation. In conclusion, my experience with Greg was nothing short of a disaster. If you value communication, competence, and a fair representation, I strongly urge you to seek alternative legal counsel. Save yourself the stress, frustration, and financial strain that comes with entrusting your divorce case to someone as inept and unprofessional Greg.

I was recommended to Rob by my real estate agent (seller). She said she used him for years and for a simple real estate closing this should have been simply and quick. He presented a flat fee, quickly got me to sign the agreement and claimed he would take care of the next steps. The first time I realized there was a problem was during the inspection process. The buyers expressed some concerns and Rob never sent me the full list of items that needed to be addressed - he picked and choose what he wanted. It was not till my agent called us because the buyers agent expressed concern the buyers were about to walk away because we refused to negotiate on issues that needed to be addressed. This was the first time we were hearing of this. Later in the transaction we find out that Rob had been stalling the buyer's lawyer to finish the wording on the sales contract for the home. Again and again we would find out that Rob was just not following through. We ended up providing information through our agent to the buyers agent and finally their lawyer to get this transaction complete. Rob did the absolute minimum work possible. If the buyers were not understand and we did not have to sell our home as quickly as we did, we would have started over with a new attorney. This was the most stressful experience of my life and all because someone could not do his job! Nothing made my husband and I happier then signing the closing paperwork!

I decided to go with an attorney here because of the great reviews. To keep a long story short, I recieved the bare minimum when it came to my workmans comp case. There were many aspects of the case I discussed with the attorney, such as having the insurance company cover medical needs, needs like an ergonomic work desk. The attorney I worked with for over 2 years didn't even show up during my final hearing, he sent someone I've never met before, who told me to not question and take the settlement. None of my medical concerns were addressed. I was left with the option of, settle and get something, or go to trial and not get anything at all. My condition has worsened since this time, and I am left to figure out what to do alone. The attorney took thousands of dollars, a % of my settlement, for doing the bare minimum. While I need every last penny from the case, now that I am left to pay for medical expenses I cannot cover. Be careful who you trust, especially when it comes to workmans comp.

What a Workers’ Compensation Lawyer Can Do for You

A workers’ compensation lawyer specializes in helping employees who are injured or become ill as a result of their job to receive the benefits they are entitled to under workers' compensation laws. These lawyers represent injured workers in claims for medical benefits, wage replacement, and other compensation related to workplace injuries or illnesses. They also help when claims are denied, benefits are delayed, or disputes arise with the employer or the insurance company.

Whether you've been injured on the job, developed an occupational illness, or are dealing with a denied workers' compensation claim, a workers’ compensation lawyer can help you navigate the claims process and ensure you receive the full benefits you deserve.

When Should I Hire a Workers' Compensation Lawyer?

You should consider hiring a workers' compensation lawyer in several situations, especially when complications arise during the claims process or when your rights as an injured worker are being challenged. Some common reasons to hire a workers' compensation lawyer include:

  • Claim denial: If your workers' compensation claim has been denied, a lawyer can help you appeal the decision and represent you in hearings or litigation.
  • Inadequate benefits: If the insurance company offers you a settlement that doesn’t cover your medical expenses, lost wages, or other damages, a lawyer can negotiate on your behalf for a fair amount.
  • Delay in receiving benefits: If your benefits are being delayed, a lawyer can help expedite the process to ensure you receive timely compensation.
  • Permanent disability: If your injury leads to permanent disability (partial or total), a lawyer can help you navigate the more complex process of securing long-term benefits.
  • Retaliation by employer: If your employer retaliates against you for filing a workers' compensation claim (e.g., by firing or demoting you), a lawyer can protect your rights and pursue legal action.
  • Third-party liability: If a third party (e.g., a contractor or equipment manufacturer) was responsible for your injury, a lawyer can help you pursue additional compensation through a personal injury lawsuit.
  • Pre-existing conditions: If your employer or the insurance company claims that your injury is related to a pre-existing condition, a lawyer can help you present evidence showing that the injury was work-related.

Hiring a lawyer early in the process can prevent delays, avoid mistakes, and ensure you receive all the benefits you’re entitled to under workers' compensation law.

What Does a Workers' Compensation Lawyer Do?

A workers' compensation lawyer provides a range of legal services to injured workers, ensuring that they receive the benefits they deserve. Their tasks often include:

  • Filing claims: Helping injured workers prepare and file their workers' compensation claims to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  • Appealing denied claims: Representing workers whose claims have been denied and guiding them through the appeals process, including hearings and court appearances.
  • Negotiating settlements: Negotiating with insurance companies to secure fair compensation for medical expenses, lost wages, and other damages.
  • Handling disputes: Resolving disputes between the injured worker, the employer, and the insurance company regarding the amount of compensation or the nature of the injury.
  • Coordinating medical evidence: Gathering and presenting medical records, expert testimony, and other evidence to support the workers' compensation claim.
  • Advocating for benefits: Ensuring that injured workers receive all the benefits they’re entitled to, including temporary or permanent disability benefits, vocational rehabilitation, and medical treatment.
  • Filing third-party lawsuits: In cases where a third party is responsible for the injury, a workers' compensation lawyer may also pursue a personal injury lawsuit to recover additional damages.

How Are Workers’ Compensation Lawyers Paid?

Workers' compensation lawyers typically charge a contingency fee, meaning they only get paid if they successfully recover benefits for you. This fee is usually a percentage of the benefits awarded, and the specific percentage is often regulated by state law. Here's how it generally works:

  • Contingency fee: The lawyer's fee is typically between 15% and 25% of the total benefits awarded to you. You don’t have to pay any upfront legal fees, and the lawyer’s fee comes out of the settlement or benefit award.
  • No fee if no recovery: If the lawyer doesn’t recover any benefits for you, you generally don’t have to pay for their services.
  • State regulations on fees: Many states cap the percentage that workers' compensation lawyers can charge, and some states require the fee to be approved by the workers' compensation board or judge.

Be sure to discuss the fee structure with your lawyer during the initial consultation to understand how much you will owe if your case is successful.

How Much Does a Workers' Compensation Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a workers' compensation lawyer typically depends on the contingency fee arrangement, meaning the lawyer’s fee will be a percentage of the benefits you receive. General cost estimates include:

  • Contingency fees: Most workers' compensation lawyers charge between 15% and 25% of the total settlement or benefits awarded. For example, if you receive $50,000 in benefits, the lawyer’s fee would range from $7,500 to $12,500.
  • State regulations: Some states limit the percentage that workers' compensation lawyers can charge. In these cases, the fee is usually capped, often at 20% to 25%, depending on state law.
  • Additional costs: Some lawyers may charge for out-of-pocket expenses, such as filing fees, medical records retrieval, and expert witness testimony, though these costs are typically deducted from the settlement after the case is won.

You should always ask for a clear explanation of fees and potential additional costs during your consultation so you understand the financial arrangement.

Top Questions to Ask a Workers' Compensation Lawyer

Before hiring a workers' compensation lawyer, it’s important to ask the right questions to ensure they are the best fit for your case. Key questions to ask include:

  1. What experience do you have with workers' compensation cases?
Ensure the lawyer has experience handling cases similar to yours, especially if your injury is severe or the case involves disputes.
  2. How do you charge for your services?
Clarify whether the lawyer charges a contingency fee and whether there are any additional costs you need to be aware of.
  3. What is the likelihood of success in my case?
Ask for an honest assessment of your case, including the potential challenges and outcomes.
  4. Have you handled cases like mine before?
Find out if the lawyer has experience dealing with cases involving similar injuries or disputes, such as denied claims or permanent disability.
  5. How long will the process take?
While it’s difficult to predict an exact timeline, the lawyer should be able to provide a general estimate based on their experience with similar cases.
  6. Will you personally handle my case?
In larger firms, junior attorneys or paralegals may handle parts of your case. Make sure you know who will be working on your claim.

How to Check the Credibility of a Workers' Compensation Lawyer

To ensure you are hiring a reputable workers' compensation lawyer, follow these steps to verify their credentials and track record:

  • Verify their bar status: Check with your state bar association to confirm that the lawyer is licensed and in good standing, with no disciplinary actions against them.
  • Look for workers' compensation experience: Review the lawyer’s website or professional profile to ensure they specialize in workers' compensation law and have successfully handled cases similar to yours.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Look for client reviews on platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to see what previous clients have said about the lawyer’s expertise and service.
  • Ask for references: A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their experience in workers' compensation cases.
  • Check for professional affiliations: Membership in organizations like the Workers' Injury Law & Advocacy Group (WILG) or local bar association committees on workers' compensation can indicate the lawyer’s commitment to this area of law.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most out of your first consultation with a workers' compensation lawyer, it’s important to come prepared with relevant documents and information. Here’s what you should bring:

  • Accident report or incident documentation: Bring any documentation related to your workplace injury or illness, including accident reports or notifications to your employer.
  • Medical records: Provide copies of medical records, including treatment notes, doctor’s reports, and any information related to your injury or condition.
  • Employer correspondence: Bring any letters, emails, or forms related to your claim from your employer or the workers' compensation insurance company.
  • Wage and benefits information: Provide information on your wages, benefits, and any lost income due to the injury.
  • List of questions: Prepare questions about your case, the process, costs, and what to expect moving forward.
  • Timeline of events: Prepare a timeline of the incident, your injury, and any medical treatment or communication with your employer and the insurance company.

Being well-prepared for your consultation will allow the lawyer to assess your case more effectively and provide you with the best possible legal advice.
