When I spoke with Mr. Singer for the first time his first statement was that "he would do everything possible in my interest and try his best to help me . " Just by speaking with him I had peace of mind and boost in my confidence. He worked hard and with lot of dedication and represented my case very professionally and efficiently. I really admire his composure, work ethic and most importantly his excellent representation. I was very impressed with his professional skills and abilities. I am grateful for his representation and help during a difficult time .

I cannot express the immense gratitude I have for my interaction with Mr. Smith. I found myself in a very challenging and unique situation with a renter's insurance claim. I vetted many attorneys before allowing my intuition to guide me to Mr. Smith. Mr. Smith demonstrated his attention to detail in the consultation process. He carefully read over the documents and gave me an informed assessment of my case. Although, Mr. Smith could not guarantee my desired outcome (as no attorney can), I decided to move forward with the process and hired him. Mr. Smith's WEALTH of knowledge allowed him to find errors in the way my claim was denied. His letter to my insurance company caused them change their initial denial of my claim and in turn they honored my claim. In addition to his knowledge, I can also speak to his honesty and transparency. He refunded a portion of my retainer as he did not use all of the time he anticipated. I am forever grateful to Mr. Smith.

I engaged James Connolly to undertake a civil action against a neighbor with whom I was having a property related dispute. He brought the issue to a satisfactory end for me and did it in a way that saved me time and money. He acted swifly, kept me informed and gave me good advice that kept me from letting the emotional aspects of the case drive my actions which could have potentially been expensive for all parties. I highly recommend James Connolly.

After an incident, my CPA advised me to not waste my time pursuing a claim. Months later I met Mrs. Wanda Kelsea Eckert at a truck show in Dallas, Texas and after a nice chat and explaining my over $20,000. 00 in losses I knew Kelsea would do right on my losses. Five phone calls later with her staff (which is great by the way), my case was settled to my satisfaction.

When my husband passed away suddenly I had no idea which way to turn. I met with Bridgette and she explained to me the legal process of an estate. I was very pleased with her and told her that I would be back when I needed legal work done. I am now ready to get my will done and put in place and I will be calling her soon to get it set up for me.

Richard provided excellent legal assistance for my wife and I during the purchase of our first house. He clarified the process, helped us feel secure during the negotiations and always remained dedicated to our wishes and concerns. Moreover, all parties felt honored and secure due to his professionalism and warm communications. We recommend Richard for real estate transactions for both his expertise in the field and his sensitivity to his client's needs.

Marcus Fernandez is a top notch attorney. I hired him for an injury case. He went above and beyond my expectations. He would keep me posted on my case often, via phone calls, since my schedule didn't all time for a face to face. He was willing to incorporate my time into his schedule. One thing I have to say is that he asked me one question. "What do you expect to get out of this suit financially" he said to take a week and honestly think about it. Well I did just that. Now I could have thrown out a number and that would have been it. But I took his advice and listed all the specific details. Every night I was up in pain all night. All the days I missed work, family finances that occurred from this incident. I wrote the list so specific that I came down to every penny that I felt was owed to me, and details as to why. Mr. Fernandez called me and said that with all his experience he never had someone do that. Normally they would come up with a number and that was that. I said well you asked me to really think about it and be specific. Well that's what I did. The next step was the deposition, in which he did explain to me how difficult they defense would be and he would correct. He prepped me for just that. One thing I have to say is that at first I went with a "popular" law firm Morgan & Morgan, because of their popularity. And they dropped the ball on my case. I learned that it's not about the person with Morgan & Morgan. You're just a number there. But with Fernandez you're an individual who matters. Bottom line we won the case and he did get the amount I wanted and felt was fare. He was amazing and I would recommend him 100%.

I hired Kate for a will dispute case that I was caught in the middle of, and I have to say that she is the smartest, most capable, most thorough, and most helpful lawyer in Kansas. She was very kind, and helped explain to me all of the legal loopholes and guidelines involved in my case. I could tell that she truly wanted me to have the best outcome possible, and not just get this case over with. There is not a more perfect person for her job. I will be recommending her to everyone I can!

Mr. Brooks is an exceptional defense lawyer for medical malpractice defense. I am sure he functions in other legal area's as well but my personal experience has been physician malpractice defense. His detail work and knowledge of strategy were remarkable. Interestingly, he has defended me personally entirely successfully, in a very complex & difficult medical malpractice case that extended over a few years. We have also worked together defending other physicians over the years, in separate unrelated actions. He knows medicine very well and understands how to structure his defense and what areas of concern are vulnerable and develops his strategy well while also thoroughly preparing his witnesses and client. He has a great style and possesses great oratory ability--something I could never have appreciated without personally witnessing such in my own trial, in particular, opening and closing arguments. This is an elite attorney with a quest for truth and justice. He is #1.

I would consider Steve Chance to be one in a million. He is one of two lawyers that I have dealt with in my lifetime that had the honesty and fortitude to lay our case out in black and white. He explained the weaknesses and the strengths that our case had and did not make ANY hyped promises as to what we could expect. He has a quick mind and doesn't miss a point during depositions or trial. You would be hard pressed to find ANY lawyer that walks into a meeting as well prepared as Steve. That alone is worth its weight in gold and provides a level of trust and calm that is invaluable in legal situations.

As GC of a large corporation, I hired Stuart for a large sales transaction. Stuart represented the company brilliantly. There are perhaps 2 or 3 attorneys in the entire state, if not the country, with his expertise, experience, and creativity in putting together large transactions and getting deals done. He is a consummate problem solver and relentless when it comes to closing. You simply cannot hire a better transactions attorney in Utah.

Doctor Aaron Deshaw took my case when it was at its most hopeless. As a brain injury survivor himself, he was as kind and compassionate to someone with a brain injury as anyone could hope for. As a doctor, his knowledge and expertise were invaluable in navigating the complexities of a trial that depended on medical evidence. As an attorney, he's a ROCK STAR!(Sorry, did it again.) As an attorney, I believe his bravery (to go forward with a case that he was told was near hopeless), his brilliance, and his wisdom are unsurpassed in the legal field. His belief in me sustained me through a long, difficult, but ultimately triumphant journey. He never failed to return a phone call or e-mail, to keep me informed, or just reassure me that he understood when I was doing silly things brain injured people do. If you are unlucky enough to have suffered a brain injury, you would be lucky to have Doctor Aaron DeShaw as your lawyer. Delani Stephens

Kevin became involved in our case when we were already at trial. He got up to speed quickly and went out of his way to make us feel comfortable. His ability to understand the nuance and complexity of our issue in such a short period of time was more than a little impressive. Both in the courtroom and in trail preparation, Kevin's ability and exceptional acumen are quite clear. We consider ourselves more than fortunate to have him on our side, and could not be more appreciative of his efforts and abilities. Kevin and his firm as a whole are remarkable and we couldn't have been better represented.

What an Insurance Lawyer Can Do for You

An insurance lawyer specializes in legal issues related to insurance policies and claims. These lawyers help individuals, businesses, and insurance companies navigate disputes involving insurance coverage, claim denials, bad faith claims, and policy interpretation. Insurance lawyers can represent policyholders who feel they've been unfairly denied coverage, or they can work on behalf of insurance companies to defend against fraudulent or inflated claims.

Whether you're filing a claim, disputing a denial, or dealing with complex coverage issues, an insurance lawyer can provide critical guidance and legal representation to protect your rights and ensure you receive the benefits you're entitled to under your policy.

When Should I Hire an Insurance Lawyer?

Hiring an insurance lawyer is advisable in several situations, particularly when disputes arise over insurance coverage, claim denials, or bad faith actions. Common reasons to hire an insurance lawyer include:

  • Denied insurance claims: If your insurance company denies your claim, a lawyer can help determine whether the denial was justified or if you should challenge the decision.
  • Bad faith insurance practices: If you believe your insurer has acted in bad faith, such as delaying payment or failing to properly investigate your claim, a lawyer can help you pursue legal action.
  • Underpaid claims: If the insurance company has offered less compensation than you believe your claim is worth, a lawyer can negotiate for a higher payout or file a lawsuit.
  • Coverage disputes: When there's ambiguity or disagreement about what your policy covers, a lawyer can provide clarity and advocate for your rights under the policy.
  • Business insurance claims: If you own a business and are dealing with commercial insurance claims (e.g., property damage, liability, or professional indemnity), a lawyer can help ensure your business receives proper coverage.
  • Third-party claims: If you're being sued for liability and your insurance company refuses to defend or indemnify you, an insurance lawyer can help enforce your coverage rights.
  • Appealing long-term disability claims: If your disability insurance claim has been denied, a lawyer can assist in gathering evidence and appealing the decision to get the benefits you deserve.

What Does an Insurance Lawyer Do?

An insurance lawyer provides a wide range of services to assist with insurance-related legal issues. These can include:

  • Reviewing insurance policies: A lawyer can review your insurance policy to ensure you understand your rights and obligations, as well as clarify what coverage is provided.
  • Filing insurance claims: Assisting with the preparation and filing of claims to ensure all necessary documentation is submitted correctly.
  • Challenging claim denials: If your claim has been denied, a lawyer can investigate the reasons for denial and file appeals or lawsuits to challenge the decision.
  • Litigating bad faith claims: Representing clients in bad faith insurance cases, where the insurer fails to act in good faith by unfairly delaying, denying, or underpaying a valid claim.
  • Negotiating settlements: Helping policyholders negotiate settlements with insurance companies to receive fair compensation for claims.
  • Defending against fraudulent claims: Representing insurance companies to defend against false or exaggerated claims filed by policyholders or third parties.
  • Handling disputes over policy language: Interpreting complex insurance policies and resolving disputes between the insured and the insurer regarding coverage limits, exclusions, and conditions.

How Are Insurance Lawyers Paid?

Insurance lawyers typically charge for their services in different ways, depending on the nature of the case and the type of insurance issue involved. Common payment structures include:

  • Contingency fee: For many policyholders disputing claim denials or underpayments, lawyers work on a contingency basis. This means the lawyer only gets paid if they win or settle the case, taking a percentage (usually between 25% and 40%) of the recovered amount.
  • Hourly rate: For more complex or ongoing legal issues, such as bad faith lawsuits or business insurance disputes, insurance lawyers may charge an hourly rate. This rate varies depending on the lawyer’s experience and location.
  • Flat fee: For simpler matters, such as reviewing an insurance policy or helping file a claim, some lawyers charge a flat fee for their services.
  • Retainer: For businesses or clients with ongoing legal needs, an insurance lawyer may require a retainer fee, which is an upfront payment for future services.

It’s important to clarify the fee structure with your lawyer during the initial consultation to avoid unexpected costs.

How Much Does an Insurance Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring an insurance lawyer depends on the complexity of the case, the lawyer's experience, and the payment structure. General cost estimates include:

  • Contingency fees: If your lawyer works on a contingency fee basis, you won’t pay any fees upfront, but the lawyer will take a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or judgment awarded.
  • Hourly rates: Hourly rates for insurance lawyers generally range from $150 to $500 or more, depending on the lawyer’s experience and location. Complex cases involving bad faith or high-value business claims may require significant hours, leading to higher legal costs.
  • Flat fees: For specific services, such as reviewing an insurance policy, lawyers may charge a flat fee ranging from $500 to $2,500, depending on the complexity of the task.
  • Retainers: Businesses or individuals seeking ongoing insurance legal services may pay a retainer, which can range from $5,000 to $20,000 or more, depending on the lawyer and scope of work.

Make sure to discuss costs and payment structures with your lawyer before proceeding to understand how much the services will cost.

Top Questions to Ask an Insurance Lawyer

Before hiring an insurance lawyer, it’s important to ask the right questions to ensure they are the right fit for your case. Here are key questions to ask:

  1. What experience do you have with insurance law?
Ensure the lawyer has specific experience handling cases involving your type of insurance, whether it’s auto, health, home, or business-related.
  2. How do you charge for your services?
Clarify whether the lawyer works on contingency, hourly rates, or flat fees, and ask for an estimate of the total cost of your case.
  3. What is your success rate with insurance disputes?
Ask about the lawyer’s track record in winning or settling cases similar to yours.
  4. What are my chances of success?
A good lawyer will provide an honest assessment of your case’s strengths and weaknesses and outline the possible outcomes.
  5. How long will the process take?
Get an estimate of how long it will take to resolve your claim or dispute, as some cases can extend over months or even years.
  6. Will you handle my case personally?
In larger firms, junior attorneys or paralegals may handle some aspects of your case. Make sure you know who will be managing your case.

How to Check the Credibility of an Insurance Lawyer

To ensure you’re hiring a reputable insurance lawyer, take the following steps to verify their credentials and experience:

  • Verify their state bar license: Check with your state bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing with no disciplinary actions.
  • Review their experience in insurance law: Look at the lawyer’s website or professional profile to ensure they specialize in insurance law and have experience with cases like yours.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Search for reviews on platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to see what previous clients have said about the lawyer’s expertise and professionalism.
  • Ask for references: A credible lawyer should be able to provide references from past clients who have dealt with similar insurance issues.
  • Check for industry memberships: Membership in organizations like the American Bar Association’s Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section (TIPS) can indicate the lawyer’s focus on insurance law.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most out of your first consultation with an insurance lawyer, come prepared with the following documents and information:

  • A copy of your insurance policy: Bring the policy related to your claim or dispute so the lawyer can review the coverage details.
  • Any correspondence with the insurance company: Provide copies of letters, emails, or other communications between you and your insurer regarding the claim or denial.
  • Proof of claim and supporting documents: Bring any documentation you have submitted with your claim, including receipts, invoices, photos, medical records, or repair estimates.
  • List of questions: Prepare a list of questions you want to ask about your case, the legal process, and the potential outcomes.
  • Timeline of events: Be ready to provide a clear timeline of the incident that led to the claim and any steps you’ve taken with your insurance company.

By preparing thoroughly for your consultation, you can ensure that the lawyer has all the information they need to assess your case and provide the best legal advice.
