I am a Domestic Violence Survivor. I have a double Major in psychology and Elementary Education with a minor in early childhood education. I was a teacher for United Cerebral Palsy and now I can now longer work due to a TBI I suffer from the blows to my head from my husband. I have humbly applied for a poor person's application which goes to a Supreme Court Judge, who then makes the decision to either deny or grant the petition. I was blessed to be granted council and was assigned to Mr Hillman. My background is important because although I’m unable to work due to my disability, I now spend my “good’ days, although they come and go, volunteering my time helping others, mostly the elderly, usually to bring a little joy back into their lives by helping them clean out flower beds, gardens, overgrowth, overwhelming rooms or garages. Volunteering is like therapy for me, so by helping others in what gets me functioning. I am a very patient and understanding, open minded and forgiving person, however after initially emailing Mr Hillman with some information introducing myself and receiving no response, and then leaving several messages with his staff to schedule an appointment I finally got to speak with Mr Hillman after 2 months of constant attempts. (Please remember I am considered to be a “Pro-Bono” client) the first thing Mr Hillman said in an unexpectedly stern voice to me was “I don’t travel,” Now I did just relayed I was understanding, so I quickly responded with” I understand,” I will drive the hour to meet with him. He then proceeds to tell me he had no paperwork for me (as I hear him shuffling through his papers on his desk) I try to explain how I became his client, and explained I also sent an email when I first received his information, and he replied with “oh there you are, right here at the bottom of the pile.” I ended the conversation with an appointment and a very uncertain feeling about the representation I was about to receive. Mr Hillmans actions were a sign of someone who had no interest in my divorce, yet I still walked into Mr. Hillmans office with a positive and hopeful attitude because I am genuinely grateful to have been given help. Knowing nothing about me or my case along with the obvious disinterest, the first thing Mr. Hillman told me he was going to do was change the reason for my divorce from Cruel and inhumane treatment (which is the reason for divorce) to irreconcilable differences while claiming they would give me the same results (which is far from the truth) Mr. Hillman looked right at me and blurted out “There is no way you can prove abuse” I politely interrupted to explain I could prove abuse, and then he brazenly explained “THAT WOULD TAKE A LOT OF TIME, ANDI’M NOT GETTING PAID.”” I literally put my head down in shock of his blatant discrimination. Sitting on the edge of my seat already riddled with anxiety, feeling belittled and fear, and most importantly defeated. It’s a very sad time when your lawyer treats you disrespectfully by bullying his clients, those very same people Mr Hillman took an oath to give representation He wanted to control how I did things solely based on his need to make money or lack there of. He was arrogant, he lacked respect, social skills and even knowledge of the law (at least pertaining to my situation) nor did he do anything to prepare after I traveled over an hour to see him.

I can’t say enough good things about Anthony and his assistant Mary. Incredibly kind at a moment in my life when I was literally falling apart. Anthony’s 30 years of experience and knowledge of the law ran circles around the other side and there were even a few times when my ex husbands attorney asked him for help with the details of law . I ended up with everything I asked for and more. I’m not exaggerating. The house , alimony , all of it .I highly recommend you hire him . At the end of a long journey together working on my case we were even laughing . I’ll actually miss them . ❤️

Last week 9/5/24 our 16 years dream came true. Finally, we received our green cards. David Wilson worked on our case for the last 5 years. It is very rare to find someone with passion and dedication towards his clients like David. He treats every client like a close family member. Two things will distingue him forever way above any other lawyer we have met in our long journey towards our residency dream: 1- He offered us a two-year payment plan for the office legal fees, without my family or me even asking for it, he just offered it due to his deep commitment to helping his clients. 2- On the day of the green card interview, he came to the USCIS office half an hour early before our time, he just waited with us addressing our worries and anxiety, he spent almost two hours with us until the interview is over, he did it all with no extra penny charges, just out of his deeply passionate and support to his clients. With his help, support, and deep understanding we became USA residents.

He called me back immediately, always responsive, and carefully guided me through the many issues I had with my former employer. Worst experience ever with this law firm, but mainly because of the lack of care and communication - also Attorney Mark's rude tone of voice and talking over me while we were on the phone. They have been working on my mother's case for over 10 years (I cannot remember at this point the exact number), but fail to keep us up to date when I am calling Chelsie (their assistant) multiple times and leaving voicemails, and others working there. When Mark finally did reached out back to me, there was no apologies of comfort nor sympathy - on top of that, he had such a monotonous indifferent tone of voice and delivery and later it was rude at the end of the call. Another thing, Attorney Mark underdelivered and overpromised - last week he said guaranteed/most likely the amount given back will be two times higher than now (now a week later, the amount is much lower than before). Personally, if you do not know the exact amount or so - please state it outrightly and not have people's hopes up. During the phone call, when I was speaking to him about "overpromising and underdelivering" he chimed in and did not let me finish my sentence. After I told him to not cut me off on the phone, he literally hung the phone up on my face - without a single warning (at least a warning would do). Then, we message and he goes to tell me that he will let his original partner finish off the case - without no apologies, once again. Honestly, it just seems rather un-genuine - from my perspective. Overall, he is very unprofessional and I will not be recommending him to anyone - but everyone else might be better (I'm not sure, just speaking from experience). I believe his name is Mark B. Levin.

Reached out to them for a consult about an employment law issue. After explaining my situation to the receptionist (who sounded like she was barely listening) I was told if receive an email by the end of the day. Less than an hour later they contacted me via automated form email and said that they were not only refusing my case, but "declining to offer a consultation". The form email stated that they are an extremely small firm and only take certain cases. They also weirdly stated that they're under no obligation to inform me exactly why they refused my case, but instead made sure to urge me to contact a different lawyer or the state bar association, as my case's statute of limitations may expire soon. Yeah thanks, that's exactly why I urgently needed a consult, duh? Extremely weird. Stay away.

In October 2018, I was a pedestrian in a car accident. Thank God, I was able to walk away from it. However, I did sustain injuries and was out of work for a long period of time. Through a recommendation, I contacted the Law Office of Edelman, Krasin and Jaye for guidance and advice. After a home visit to discuss the particulars of the accident, I was soon thereafter contacted by the office of EKJ and frankly, I hit the jackpot. The paralegal on the other end of the phone, whose name is Rosemarie, was just the person I needed. I probably asked hundreds of questions and for every answer she gave me, I had hundreds more to ask. But for Rosemarie, that was just fine. She let me talk. Her caring and patience was remarkable. She was able to read me as a person, and not just a client. There were countless phone calls, emails, appointments, paperwork, as well as many fears and tears. My wonderful paralegal got me through all of it. When there was despair and confusion and I picked up the phone, in no more than an hour (sometimes less), there she was. Rosemarie called me before and after my surgery and even remembered my birthdays. After surgery, beautiful flowers were at my doorstep. We became client/friends and I grew to love her. After five years, and many court appointments with very talented attorneys, my case actually went to trial. This was something that Rosemarie knew I was terrified of. As a matter of fact, we giggled about it many times. But the time had come and once again, she was the one that got me through it. In the end, I received a very fair settlement through the hard work, professionalism, and “never give up“ attitude of so many at EKJ. I was touched by so many attorneys, including some of the partners, and everyone was amazing. I was treated with respect and dignity and compassion for five years. I would like to give a special thank you to my attorney at trial, Colin Rathje, who did a fabulous job. Colin worked very hard for me and kept me up-to-date on everything that was happening in the courtroom, which is not an easy thing to do. He was so caring and solid and tough. In the end, decisions needed to be made. He explained everything to me and guided me to a good and just decision. I will always appreciate your hard work and effort. Thank you, my friend. Thank you to all the staff at the law firm of Edelman, Krasin and Jaye. They certainly helped me in my time of need and I would always recommend this law firm to others. GREAT JOB!

I was very impressed with Todd's preparation, including the way he handled cross examination of experienced witnesses, such as insurance company personnel and an expert witness for the insurance company. Through Todd's efforts, the client was able to obtain a much more favorable result than she otherwise would have been able to. I would highly recommend Todd for any civil litigation matter, including any issue relating to business, employment, real estate or insurance.

I applied for the Human Resources Assistant position with Stinson, LLP in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in August 2024. I was called the next day after applying via their online job application on their website. My initial telephone interview was with Chelsea L. Clennan, Director of Human Resources for Stinson, LLP, who's located in their Wichita, Kansas office. Chelsea was immediately complimenting me, telling me that any employer would be lucky to have me, that my skillsets are perfect for the role, that they would move quick for me in the recruitment process, they would make same-day job offers if needed-- immediately raising red flags for me that she was not a genuine person. She immediately moved me on to the second and final stage of the hiring process: the final interview with the hiring manager, the HR manager of the Minneapolis office-- both of whom reported to Chelsea. My suspicions of Chelsea would prove correct when, all the sudden, after letting her know after my final interview on Friday afternoon that I did have another offer, which I'd received the day prior, Chelsea responded to my email quickly, letting me know her and her hiring team would meet on Monday. In her email to me, which I've attached, she even told me her team considered me a top candidate. Monday came and went-- nothing, crickets. Tuesday, I received the attached screen shot email, letting me know they'd meet later that day. I replied, thanked her for keeping me in the loop, even further expressing my gratitude for keeping in touch with me and making me feel respected and valued. Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday -- absolute radio silence from Chelsea L. Clennan. I sent a polite follow up email Friday afternoon-- again, I had been ghosted. Not a single reply or word from Chelsea or her team ever since -- despite her shtick of "you're a top candidate" and "we move quickly." I shudder to think how Stinson, LLP employees -- whether in Minneapolis or Kansas -- are treated if Chelsea treated a job applicant -- me -- with what I felt like was pure garbage and disrespect. Personally, I do not recommend Stinson as a place to work based on my experience as a job candidate and how I feel I was treated. When people like the human resources director show you their true colors-- believe them.

I walked in alone to a hearing riddled with anxiety and uncertainty, with no legal representation. Not knowing what was going to be my outcome, especially over a situation that should not have even been brought to a level where court would have been involved, I requested a court appointed attorney. I have never lucked out so much in my entire life than I did that day. Stinson Law firm just so happened to be providing pro bono work that morning and took my case. The two attorneys I worked with not only helped me feel validated in my disbelief that I was even there, but also were the most knowledgeable powerhouse of representation I could have ever asked for. If I were to sum it all up in 3 reasons why I would recommend them to anyone, it would be: Top notch negotiation skills, an unmatched knowledge of the law surrounding my scenario, and for being the most personable, down to earth people, to have the pleasure of working with.

Douglass Hartnett is a phenomenal attorney! He was able to take my summary of events and turn them into a concise Prehearing Statement. He was sharp-witted throughout the entire process. Douglass’ keen knowledge of the law was extraordinary. One man opposed the discriminatory actions of an Agency that employed 5000 people and was victorious. I was comfortable at every telephone conference and hearing because Douglass was standing beside me. I followed his advice because I trusted him. Ultimately, we prevailed in the case. I went to Mr. Kramer when I had zero trust for anyone. I was involved in a very serious situation that caused so much fear and doubt for me. From the moment I met with Ron he listened to my situation, offered excellent advice, and NEVER judged me. He believed in my when I didn’t believe in myself. He took on my case without hesitation and saw it through to the end. He helped get me to the outcome I wanted and was never pushy or sneaky like most attorneys I’ve dealt with. Mr. Kramer had my case for several months before he 'changed his mind' and dumped my case. I sustained a brain injury and neck/back trauma. Mr. Kramer explained that he liked the easy, 'clean' cases. My case was too messy, so after months of representative, he quit. He never spoke to my doctor, and he never attempted to settle my case. He also slowed my treatment by insisting that I wait for a neuropsychologist until he found one for me. He didn't want me going to just anyone. So that treatment was delayed by a couple of months. Mr. Kramer is not a man of his word. In my case, as a client, I meant nothing to him.

Katherine is a superb lawyer and tremendous advocate. I hired Katherine based on the strength of her reputation in Boston's employment law community and was not disappointed. I credit her with helping me find my path out of an extremely challenging employment situation on the best terms possible. She is an excellent negotiator and advocate. I never doubted for a moment that she was firmly and completely on my side. I highly recommend her.

Katherine has provided exceptional legal counsel and was instrumental in representing me through a difficult employment issue. I had interviewed several top employment attorneys in Boston and I chose Katherine. She is always extremely professional, sincere, succinct and has a great command of employment law. When working with her, you know that she listens and gets it. She is very thorough, responsive and has quick turnaround. Katherine also presents options and explains ramifications to facilitate making intelligent decisions. Since, I have continued to seek counsel when needed on employment agreements and have had the same great experience. I definitely recommend Katherine.

I was referred to someone else at her firm who pawned me off on Michon. She was clearly in over her head. She missed a deadline and misspelled my name on an important document. The hallmark of a good Atty is to be detail oriented. I fired her.

Although I was assured that I had a good case and even after presenting to her what my former employer’s position would be, Manali seemed unprepared when my former employer raised the exact defense I told her would be coming. She capitulated to my former employer, so I had to accept whatever settlement was available. I know it's business, but in my interactions with her, it seems she could not care less that I was a human being. Subsequently, an issue arose where she advised me on a topic she had no legal knowledge of. After going back and forth with her, asking why she advised the way she did, she finally admitted that she had no legal knowledge of what I was asking.

When I sought for legal representation I was at my lowest after leaving an unsavory work environment. Mrs.Arora reached out with ease as well as compassion. She encouraged me I was making the first step to change. I can’t find all the words to describe the level of time and communication her and the staff display . I never had to chase and play phone tag the case lasted a year and half I think was pretty fast depicting the state of pandemic we’re in . All in all she stood up for my rights as a Double Minority! Forever Thankful

I had suffered some misfortune having been let go abruptly from a good job despite no performance issues. Thankfully, with the aid of Manali Shah Arora, I was able to settle my dispute amicably with employer and get the closure I sought. Through it all I was treated compassionately and was always kept in the loop on the best course of action. I sincerely recommend Manali Shah Arora and the firm for anyone seeking true justice.

Lisa Stauff was my attorney for many years so I know her well. She was consistently very difficult to communicate with, sometimes taking a few months to get back to me about my case. But the worst is that after paying her thousands of dollars over the years, she failed to reply to the court on a motion to dismiss my case. The Judge gave Lisa multiple chances to file a reply but she failed to do so. The Judge had no choice but to dismiss my case. On top of that, Lisa has not even communicated the dismissal of my case to me. I had to write the Judge to find out the status of my case and its been two years.

Lisa Stauff took her time to answer my questions and recommend I hire a local attorney. Even though she couldn't handle my case directly due to being 500 miles away she spent a considerable amount of time answering my questions. She was professional, knowledgeable and seemed to really care about my situation.

I highly recommend Oleg Albert with Le Clerc & Le Clerc. Hands down, there is not a better person qualified to handle a sexual harassments/wrongful termination case around. Oleg Albert is an expert in is field. He is truly amazing, honest, compassionate, professional, down to earth and very responsive. We had a long, initial consultation in which I poured out all of my necessary information regarding my case to see if he and his team could help me. I signed the retainer agreement that day. Oleg Albert was extremely courteous, sympathetic and empathetic, and he was truly concerned for my well-being. Le Clerc & Le Clerc firm was professional and knowledgeable during the entire case process. They took care of everything. The legal process was performed with perfection, care and expertise. Deadlines were always met and I never worried how my case was being handled. My case took nearly a year and a half, and as we were approaching the end, I thought that I was going to just lose it but Mr. Albert kept me on track that ended in a satisfying settlement. I would HIGHLY recommend Oleg Albert to represent your legal matters. Mr. Albert's drive, intellect and compassion set him apart from any other attorney I know. He truly cares about his clients and their best interests.

I want to start by saying; this has been a very interesting and rewarding experience that I wish no one should ever go through. But in the case anyone is faced with an unlawful and injustice situation, it calming to know we can call on Oleg. Back in 2019, I was involved in a lawsuit with my former employer. During this time, it was stressful emotionally and financially not knowing what would come of my case. Oleg and his team did an effective job walking me through the steps from beginning to end. Below, I have identified into three categories that presents my feedback. Communication/ Responsiveness – Whenever I had a question or the lawsuit advance onto the next stage, Oleg was clear and precise on this delivery of information. This information was prioritized based upon what was relevant or what current concerns were. Oleg is easy to talk to. As he gets to know his clients more during the beginning process, I do see that he adapts his tone, speed, and vocabulary to mirror with his clients’ expectations. He is easily reached by phone, text, or email. Knowledge/Experience – Good knowledge (including California concentrated) and years of experience in overall employment law segment. During the beginning of my journey, Oleg explained to me how my former employer violated the law in ways that I wasn’t aware of. He ran me through the steps of what should have happened vs what did happen. I value the fact that Oleg will not overpromise the outcome of my case, but gave me possible realistic scenarios even if it sometimes wasn’t in my favor. He did an excellent job explaining to me what to expect as we moved along in the process. Effort – A lawyer that always has a plan is someone you want in your corner. During my process with Oleg, I felt he did all that was necessary to reach the best possible outcome of my case. He took extra action during the discovery process (took longer than I would like to have) but got all the info to put forth an effective case. During the length of the lawsuit, I felt Oleg was eager to push forward without losing any steam. Punctual and positive attitude from the day we won the case back to the day he accepted the case.

What a Sexual Harassment Lawyer Can Do for You

A sexual harassment lawyer specializes in representing individuals who have experienced unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, or other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature that affects their employment or creates a hostile work environment. These lawyers help victims understand their rights under federal and state laws, such as Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, and guide them through the process of filing complaints, negotiating settlements, or pursuing litigation. They also assist employers in implementing anti-harassment policies, conducting investigations, and defending against claims.

Whether you're an employee facing harassment or an employer seeking to address or prevent harassment claims, a sexual harassment lawyer can provide the legal expertise needed to navigate these sensitive issues.

When Should I Hire a Sexual Harassment Lawyer?

You should consider hiring a sexual harassment lawyer in the following situations:

  • For Employees:
    • Experiencing workplace harassment: If you are subjected to unwelcome sexual advances, comments, or behavior that creates a hostile or offensive work environment, a lawyer can help you understand your rights and the steps to take.
    • Retaliation for reporting harassment: If you've reported harassment to your employer and are facing retaliation such as demotion, termination, or other adverse actions, a lawyer can help protect your rights.
    • Failure of employer to address complaints: If your employer does not take appropriate action after you've reported harassment, a lawyer can advise on how to escalate the matter legally.
    • Constructive dismissal: If the harassment is so severe that you feel forced to resign, a lawyer can help you pursue a claim for constructive dismissal.
    • Negotiating settlements: If you're considering a settlement with your employer, a lawyer can negotiate on your behalf to ensure you receive fair compensation.
  • For Employers:
    • Receiving a harassment complaint: If an employee has filed a harassment complaint, a lawyer can guide you through the legal obligations for investigating and addressing the complaint.
    • Implementing anti-harassment policies: A lawyer can help you develop and implement policies and training programs to prevent harassment and protect your organization legally.
    • Defending against claims: If your organization is facing a harassment lawsuit, a lawyer can represent you in court or during settlement negotiations.

Hiring a lawyer early can help ensure that your rights are protected and that you take the appropriate legal steps.

What Does a Sexual Harassment Lawyer Do?

A sexual harassment lawyer provides various legal services depending on whether they represent the employee or the employer. Their responsibilities often include:

  • For Employees:
    • Legal consultation: Provide advice on your rights and the merits of your case, helping you understand the legal definitions of harassment and applicable laws.
    • Filing complaints: Assist in filing a complaint with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) or state agencies, ensuring that all procedural requirements are met.
    • Negotiating settlements: Engage in negotiations with the employer to secure compensation for damages such as lost wages, emotional distress, or punitive damages.
    • Litigation: Represent you in court if a lawsuit is filed, presenting evidence, questioning witnesses, and making legal arguments to support your case.
    • Protection against retaliation: Advise on how to handle retaliation from your employer and take legal action if necessary.
  • For Employers:
    • Policy development: Help create comprehensive anti-harassment policies and training programs to prevent harassment in the workplace.
    • Internal investigations: Guide the investigation process when a complaint is made, ensuring it is thorough, impartial, and compliant with legal standards.
    • Legal defense: Represent the company in responding to EEOC complaints or lawsuits, aiming to resolve the matter efficiently and protect the organization's interests.
    • Compliance advice: Keep the company informed about changes in employment laws related to harassment and recommend best practices to maintain compliance.

How Are Sexual Harassment Lawyers Paid?

Sexual harassment lawyers typically charge for their services in various ways, depending on the nature of the case and representation:

  • For Employees:
    • Contingency fee: Many lawyers represent employees on a contingency fee basis, meaning they only get paid if they win or settle the case. The fee is usually a percentage of the recovered amount, typically ranging from 25% to 40%.
    • Hourly rate: Some lawyers may charge an hourly rate, especially if the case is unlikely to result in monetary compensation but still requires legal assistance.
  • For Employers:
    • Hourly rate: Lawyers representing employers usually charge by the hour, with rates ranging from $200 to $600 or more, depending on their experience and the case complexity.
    • Retainer: Employers may pay a retainer fee for ongoing legal services, especially if they require regular legal counsel on employment matters.

It's important to discuss fees during the initial consultation to understand the cost structure and any additional expenses.

How Much Does a Sexual Harassment Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a sexual harassment lawyer varies based on several factors:

  • For Employees:
    • Contingency fees: If working on a contingency basis, you typically won't pay any upfront fees. If you win or settle, the lawyer's fee will be a percentage of the compensation. For example, if you settle for $50,000 with a 30% contingency fee, the lawyer would receive $15,000.
    • Hourly rates: If charged hourly, fees can range from $200 to $600 per hour. Total costs depend on the number of hours worked.
  • For Employers:
    • Hourly rates: Legal fees can range from $200 to $600 per hour. A straightforward case might cost between $5,000 and $20,000, while more complex litigation could exceed $50,000.
    • Retainer fees: Ongoing legal services may require a retainer ranging from $5,000 to $25,000 or more, depending on the anticipated legal work.

Always request a detailed fee agreement to understand all potential costs.

Top Questions to Ask a Sexual Harassment Lawyer

Before hiring a sexual harassment lawyer, consider asking the following questions:

  1. What experience do you have with sexual harassment cases?
Ensure the lawyer has a strong background in handling cases similar to yours.
  2. How do you charge for your services?
Understand the fee structure, including contingency fees, hourly rates, and any additional costs.
  3. What are the strengths and weaknesses of my case?
Get an honest assessment to set realistic expectations.
  4. What is the likely timeline for my case?
Ask how long the process might take, from filing a complaint to resolution.
  5. Will my case go to trial?
Discuss the likelihood of settling versus going to court.
  6. How involved will I need to be?
Understand what will be required of you throughout the process.
  7. What outcomes can I expect?
Discuss potential remedies, such as compensation, policy changes, or reinstatement.

How to Check the Credibility of a Sexual Harassment Lawyer

To ensure you're hiring a reputable lawyer:

  • Verify their license: Check with your state bar association to confirm they are licensed and in good standing.
  • Review their experience: Look for lawyers who specialize in employment law, particularly sexual harassment cases.
  • Read client reviews: Check online reviews and testimonials on platforms like Avvo or Martindale-Hubbell.
  • Ask for references: A credible lawyer should provide references from past clients.
  • Professional memberships: Membership in organizations like the National Employment Lawyers Association (NELA) can indicate a focus on employment law.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting:

  • Detailed account: Prepare a written timeline of incidents, including dates, locations, and individuals involved.
  • Documentation: Bring any relevant documents, such as emails, text messages, voicemails, photographs, or witness statements.
  • Employment records: Provide your employment contract, employee handbook, performance reviews, and any prior complaints filed.
  • Questions: Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  • List of witnesses: Note any colleagues or individuals who may have witnessed the harassment or can support your claims.

Being well-prepared will help the lawyer assess your case effectively and provide accurate legal advice.
