I selected Jay Rothman's firm based on a recommendation from a former co-worker who had successfully litigated our former employer. My case had some issues and a former lawyer from his firm had started my case and left in the middle. Jay personally took over my case even though it wasn't a huge one and he got me a fair settlement under the circumstances. He has a dedicated team and is very intimidating in deposition. Understanding that employment cases can take 1 or 2 years to settle depending on how long the court prescribes for case length Jay is aggressive and he gets it done. He is very busy but someone will always answer your questions and address your concerns. You can trust Jay, he has been at this a very long time and he knows his stuff. I highly recommend him.

I was placed in a legal situation that I knew nothing about. I trusted no one, let alone an Attorney. Eric Sanders made me feel as though I could step out of my fight and go find peace while he fights my battle for me. He fights as if it were his own battle. An incident that left me with sleeplessnights, swollen eyes from crying everyday for hours and deep depression transformed into "Oh, Hi Eric . I forgot to call you back. So, your calling to give me another update of my case? Attorney Sanders does his job not because he wants to get paid or stand out. He does it because he really cares. HE'S ONE IN A MILLION.

I was forced to work with Vince by association with other lawyers as a collaborative suit. Instead of respectfully addressing my concerns, he became very upset and accusatory. When I tried to clarify and quote him on things he stated to me that I found problematic and upsetting, he decided to tell me that I was hateful, angry, creating things that weren't real and that I needed to talk to my therapist and not him. Absolutely refused to have a mature or respectful conversation. Really made me regret associating myself with this group of attorneys, though others in the group were very capable of calmly discussing concerns and issues and making sure clients were comfortable.

Mr. Finaldi represented my legal interests in a Jane Doe sexual abuse civil litigation case. He is professional, responsive in addressing concerns, intelligent, and strategically aggressive with opposing council when needed. It was a long road, yet I always felt comfortable entrusting my case to Mr. Finaldi/Manly & Stewart and was additionally pleased with the outcome of my suit. Consequently, I feel confident in giving my strong recommendation for Mr. Finaldi as a civil litigation attorney in these matters.

When you have to explain to an attorney that two party consent doesn’t apply to public places because there’s no reasonable expectation of privacy and that the First Amendment, freedom of press, does apply—you suspect you aren’t dealing with the sharpest crayon in the box. But when the lawyer proceeds to be condescending about it, when you’re the one who has a chamber loaded with one star reviews, you realize that the dullest tool in the shed attempted to sharpen the dullest crayon in the box that’s been dressed by its mommy and is rolling around under the seats of the short bus. Lawyers should realize if they pick up the phone to consult that they’re running a business.

Donn Taketa successfully represented us in a fire case against Southern California Edison and Time Warner Cable. The case was tried before a jury for 8 weeks in Ventura County, California. On July 26, 2012, we obtained a judgment in excess of $2 million because of the tenacity of Donn Taketa and his firm's extensive knowledge of the utility industry. Mr. Taketa’s honesty and integrity were a beacon of light in this highly contested case. Each of the attorneys on the Sullivan Taketa team has impressive skills, talents and credentials. We prevailed in every aspect of our case because of Mr. Taketa's commitment to us and to our case. Not only did he fight for our rights, but his genuine concern for public safety motivated him to be deeply committed to seeking justice. I highly recommend Mr. Taketa.

DO YOUR OWN HOMEWORK. These sites do not tell you the full story. RIGHT NOW Mr. Chapman is winning major cases. In 2015 Mr. Chapman just won a discrimination case against the PG County Board of Education. I received exallent advise and a lesson in the laws pertaining to my issue. Mr. Chapman was clear. When your job/life is one the line you want someone who will put forth the extra effort to do what it takes to protect your interests. There is no doubt in my mind that he will do it. He has a passion for his work.

In every sense of the word, this man is a "fraud." Do not give him your hard earned money. Bryan Chapman failed to adequately file my case in U.S. District Court and completely failed to represent me during court proceedings. I doubt very seriously if he passed the bar exams. I retained him to represent me in a case of job discrimination and retaliation. What I discovered too late was that I knew more about discrimination and retaliation than he did!

I retained the services of Esperanza Anderson on June 1, 2023, expecting professional legal support. When I explained my case to her, she was excited to take it and sold me on trusting her. However, my experience was extremely disappointing, especially because she had seemed so trustworthy at first. Ms. Anderson displayed a blatant lack of communication throughout the process, which left me feeling stranded and frustrated. She said she preferred text over calls but then rarely responded, and then completely stopped responding out of nowhere. I was strung along with no substantial progress on my case, nor was I updated on any developments. Despite my attempts to reach out to her or her office and seek clarifications, my concerns were not addressed. The pinnacle of my disappointment came when our retainer was terminated unceremoniously without any explanation from Ms. Anderson. This not only disrupted my legal proceedings but also cost me time and resources in finding a new attorney. I felt disregarded and disrespected as a client. I would not recommend Ms. Anderson's services to anyone in need of legal assistance.

Very disappointing experience. Mr Key was very clear about his intention for the trial, including obtaining body cam, dashcam, and CCTV footage. Although the trial was put on hold due to the pandemic, at no point did Mr Key over the course a year and half ever request or even watch any of footage he himself claimed to have wanted. Mr Key is a also a poor communicator. I, for example, only found out the first court date had been postponed because i had reached out to him the day before to find out where we'd be meeting. Mr Key will also take weeks (if ever) to reply to emails. It got to a point where I would have to email him multiple times and ultimately call in order to obtain a response from him. To my point, I am currently waiting on a reply to an email I sent him two weeks ago.

Mr Key represented me for two DUI's and an assault charge. All serious charges that, left in a novice's hands, would have most likely yield a HEFTY fine and/or jailtime. Mr Key worked his magic in the court room and behind the scenes to get all of the cases DISMISSED!!!! The judges and prosecutions respect and regard for Mr Key's presence is immediately apparent. His aggressive, direct, and straightforward demeanor in the courtroom is a prosecutor's worst nightmare!! I highly recommend Mr Key!

Every year Boston magazine publishes the results for top attorneys in Boston from different legal specialties, from business and criminal law to family and employment law. If there are top 100 attorneys; Edward Wayland would be voted as the top 10 WORST attorneys in Boston. I'm very grateful I had made the right decision to terminate him for ineffectiveness of his counsel. About few years ago, To today's day, I never regretted (terminating) firing Edward Wayland. He almost ruined my life and my freedom. lack of communication, Failure to exercise diligence, ineffectiveness of his counsel, and Incompetence, Incompetence, and Incompetence. I'm in the process of filing a complaint against him to the Massachusetts Board of Bar Overseer; Attorney and Consumer Assistance Program (ACAP), I think he should get his license suspended or revoked. (everything I stated here is true except for the top 10 worst attorneys).

I would like to share with everyone the extremely positive experience we had with Attorney Edward Wayland. We were "in the weeds" and getting "bullied" by opposing counsel. Edward just calmly and rationally cut through "the sideshow" intended to distract and turned the situation around 180 degrees. Most importantly Edward held to his integrity and achieved a "just" outcome. I am happy to speak with anyone directly as this is a real experience. You can contact Edward for my details.

I want all the information and I want it as soon as it’s available, and patience is not one of my virtues. Albert did an excellent job balancing my need for information with his ability to resolve issues with the other attorney without having to involve me. They basically charged me over $450.00, didn't listen, made assumptions, and finally said they were "too expensive" but have to bill me for the first hour. Needless to say, I ended the engagement. Our law firm was sued for the inappropriate actions of a supervisor, which made us liable for their mistakes. The person(s) making the allegations were complicit in the inappropriate behavior which made the case not so clear cut. Unfortunately, we were not strategic in our offer to settle this case. We got sucked into the chaos of litigation, and ultimately both side's attorneys did VERY well. We are not completely blaming Ward, however, if we had been given more realistic outcomes, costs, and better advice on a settlement offer upfront, this would have made a big difference in our decisions related to the case. It has taken over a year to write this review. We were hoping to hear from Ward on how we might be able to even things out from the hard feelings of just how costly this case was to settle right before trial along with all the fees to get there. As they say, "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure". For us, a better settlement offer upfront in the case would have been the prevention and the VERY large amount we paid to later settle,,, on top of the hefty legal fees was the POUND of cure,,, which still leaves us with a sting!

She went speechless in our hearing and let the defense walk all over us and her. Ultimately leaving us trampled and falsely accused in front of a court full of family and friends.  She stood there, flipping through paperwork, shaking, not knowing the answers to the judges questions which she had in front of her. After paying her a 5 digit retainer "the Butcher" just gave up and convince my husband to give in to the defendants demands and settle. She would only go to trial and continue to help us fight for custody if we paid her another 5 digit + retainer. She was timid, easily intimidated and unprepared. Not worth the money! Do not recommend for complicated custody cases!

My husband and I used Janet, in a custody battle. Janet was like a pit bull. She never backed down. She kept us informed every step of the way, and always kept our daughter's, (my step-daughter) best interest at heart. She was up against a very unsavory laywer, who often lied to his own client, for his own best interest. It's usually very hard for a father to gain custody instead of the mother, without serious cause against the mother, but we won our case. We gained custody of my husband's daughter. She has now graduated high school, and will be off to college in the fall. I have also reccomended Janet Butcher to other friends, who need a feisty pit bull on their case.

I ended up firing Attorney Grant for nonperformance. He didn't show up to appointments. He would cancel last minute. He didn't respect my schedule or time. He did absolutely nothing he was hired for. I filed a grievance against him with the Washington state board of attorneys. He never returned his files to me for the work he claimed that he allegedly did nor did he ever provide me a detailed invoice like I requested of him. I'm still waiting for an update from the state board of attorneys on the status of my grievance against him. He kept my money and had the audacity to claim I owed him 3 k more when he never was able to provide a detailed invoice even. Do not hire him. He's unethical and did nothing for which he was hired/paid. Now I'm stuck fighting him and with no help to deal with a sexual harassment case I hired him for. He had absolutely no idea what he was doing yet he took my money, did nothing. It was additional trauma I didn't deserve to have to deal with and I'm still stuck with dealing with him because he doesn't do what is right. He's acknowledged that he's terminated as of 12/13 and he withdrew but he hasn't refunded me my money, returned my files for the work he supposedly conducted, never gave me a detailed invoice, never did anything at all for which he was hired, he didn't follow the protocol an attorney should and messed things up. What he did do was bill me for meetings where he did absolutely nothing, referred me to a counselor who he uses for his cases who was just as shady as him and the one form he sent in had grammar errors, spelling errors, facts wrong about incidents, and he just copied hand written notes thereby also revealing confidential matters protected by attorney client privilege to the opposing party that I've since had to fight through without a lawyer. He hasn't done the decent thing and refunded me my money, acknowledged that he's been disciplined by the Washington state board of attorneys or at the least contacted by them for his misconduct. He hasn't given me his files or the detailed invoice so as I want to hire a new lawyer and need a lawyer he stands in my way even though he's fired. I have to deal with the possibility he might try to come after me if I win my case alone even though he did absolutely nothing for me, nothing! He did damage to be so now I have to deal with fighting him in small claims court, hiring a malpractice attorney and suing his liability insurance. Battles I don't need and don't want but will have no choice but to have to take given his lack of professionalism, ethics and nonperformance. I needed help not another battle. He admitted having caused me trauma/harm and yet he doesn't do the right thing.

Katrina did a wonderful job giving the opposing counsel whatever they wanted. She charged me $200 consulting fee. After I retained her as my attorney, I never saw or heard from her until a year and a half later she arrived late for our meeting to prep me for my first deposition ever, it was to be on camera. She met with me for no more than 10 min because her next appointment arrived. After 12-13 hours in mediation she allowed the person we were suing to go home and rest because he was exhausted. While we were to go through his assistant with any settlement offers and his assistant would call the him from his bed while we sat and suffer until midnight. She was reading my evidence while we were in mediation, asking me questions as if it was her first time looking at them. She was FaceTiming an event being held for her, giving a speech in the middle of our mediation. She never once defended our demands the entire process. All she wanted to do was settle on any amount and agreed to any requests the apposing council wanted without even asking me. In our mediation she seemed to be “asking” for our offers rather than demanding our offers. After losing this case, she demanded I sign a non-compete and allowed the defendant to continue running their eligal business out of their home.

She reviewed my case with me and confirmed that she could help me win employment case and it is covered by my insurance. None of that happened. She refused to bill my insurance on my behalf. When pressed, she would do it and I had to pay for extra for billing insurance. I paid her lots of money and got nothing in return.

What a Sexual Harassment Lawyer Can Do for You

A sexual harassment lawyer specializes in representing individuals who have experienced unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, or other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature that affects their employment or creates a hostile work environment. These lawyers help victims understand their rights under federal and state laws, such as Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, and guide them through the process of filing complaints, negotiating settlements, or pursuing litigation. They also assist employers in implementing anti-harassment policies, conducting investigations, and defending against claims.

Whether you're an employee facing harassment or an employer seeking to address or prevent harassment claims, a sexual harassment lawyer can provide the legal expertise needed to navigate these sensitive issues.

When Should I Hire a Sexual Harassment Lawyer?

You should consider hiring a sexual harassment lawyer in the following situations:

  • For Employees:
    • Experiencing workplace harassment: If you are subjected to unwelcome sexual advances, comments, or behavior that creates a hostile or offensive work environment, a lawyer can help you understand your rights and the steps to take.
    • Retaliation for reporting harassment: If you've reported harassment to your employer and are facing retaliation such as demotion, termination, or other adverse actions, a lawyer can help protect your rights.
    • Failure of employer to address complaints: If your employer does not take appropriate action after you've reported harassment, a lawyer can advise on how to escalate the matter legally.
    • Constructive dismissal: If the harassment is so severe that you feel forced to resign, a lawyer can help you pursue a claim for constructive dismissal.
    • Negotiating settlements: If you're considering a settlement with your employer, a lawyer can negotiate on your behalf to ensure you receive fair compensation.
  • For Employers:
    • Receiving a harassment complaint: If an employee has filed a harassment complaint, a lawyer can guide you through the legal obligations for investigating and addressing the complaint.
    • Implementing anti-harassment policies: A lawyer can help you develop and implement policies and training programs to prevent harassment and protect your organization legally.
    • Defending against claims: If your organization is facing a harassment lawsuit, a lawyer can represent you in court or during settlement negotiations.

Hiring a lawyer early can help ensure that your rights are protected and that you take the appropriate legal steps.

What Does a Sexual Harassment Lawyer Do?

A sexual harassment lawyer provides various legal services depending on whether they represent the employee or the employer. Their responsibilities often include:

  • For Employees:
    • Legal consultation: Provide advice on your rights and the merits of your case, helping you understand the legal definitions of harassment and applicable laws.
    • Filing complaints: Assist in filing a complaint with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) or state agencies, ensuring that all procedural requirements are met.
    • Negotiating settlements: Engage in negotiations with the employer to secure compensation for damages such as lost wages, emotional distress, or punitive damages.
    • Litigation: Represent you in court if a lawsuit is filed, presenting evidence, questioning witnesses, and making legal arguments to support your case.
    • Protection against retaliation: Advise on how to handle retaliation from your employer and take legal action if necessary.
  • For Employers:
    • Policy development: Help create comprehensive anti-harassment policies and training programs to prevent harassment in the workplace.
    • Internal investigations: Guide the investigation process when a complaint is made, ensuring it is thorough, impartial, and compliant with legal standards.
    • Legal defense: Represent the company in responding to EEOC complaints or lawsuits, aiming to resolve the matter efficiently and protect the organization's interests.
    • Compliance advice: Keep the company informed about changes in employment laws related to harassment and recommend best practices to maintain compliance.

How Are Sexual Harassment Lawyers Paid?

Sexual harassment lawyers typically charge for their services in various ways, depending on the nature of the case and representation:

  • For Employees:
    • Contingency fee: Many lawyers represent employees on a contingency fee basis, meaning they only get paid if they win or settle the case. The fee is usually a percentage of the recovered amount, typically ranging from 25% to 40%.
    • Hourly rate: Some lawyers may charge an hourly rate, especially if the case is unlikely to result in monetary compensation but still requires legal assistance.
  • For Employers:
    • Hourly rate: Lawyers representing employers usually charge by the hour, with rates ranging from $200 to $600 or more, depending on their experience and the case complexity.
    • Retainer: Employers may pay a retainer fee for ongoing legal services, especially if they require regular legal counsel on employment matters.

It's important to discuss fees during the initial consultation to understand the cost structure and any additional expenses.

How Much Does a Sexual Harassment Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a sexual harassment lawyer varies based on several factors:

  • For Employees:
    • Contingency fees: If working on a contingency basis, you typically won't pay any upfront fees. If you win or settle, the lawyer's fee will be a percentage of the compensation. For example, if you settle for $50,000 with a 30% contingency fee, the lawyer would receive $15,000.
    • Hourly rates: If charged hourly, fees can range from $200 to $600 per hour. Total costs depend on the number of hours worked.
  • For Employers:
    • Hourly rates: Legal fees can range from $200 to $600 per hour. A straightforward case might cost between $5,000 and $20,000, while more complex litigation could exceed $50,000.
    • Retainer fees: Ongoing legal services may require a retainer ranging from $5,000 to $25,000 or more, depending on the anticipated legal work.

Always request a detailed fee agreement to understand all potential costs.
