Bob Nennig is an Estate Planning attorney. He helps people prepare their lives and finances for their death or disability. This sounds simple enough. Everybody dies, and it should not be that difficult to figure out what we have. So, all we have to do is figure out where we want things to go and put it in writing.
But there is a lot going on here. It is one thing to acknowledge that everyone is going to die at some point. This is very clinical in a sense. We are talking about other people and of course they will. Now, say that about yourself. This is not so easy. And to sit with someone and talk about his or her eventual death is a conversation most people do not want to have. Facing our own mortality is about the hardest thing most people will have to do. There is a finality about it that is difficult to grasp.
Next, in most cases, we are talking about family. If it only involves spouse and one or two children, it may be simple enough. But often there are complications, such as a second marriage, step-children, and children with special needs, children who need financial assistance or protection and many variations of the above.
Combine the above and it gets to be complicated. Guiding a conversation through this and coming up with a workable plan requires a very specific ability and skill set.
There is a basic knowledge of the basic vehicles based on a certain set of circumstances, and of course, the ability to apply them to the matter at hand is certainly a necessary skill. Many lawyers have or can get these tools. Those alone, however, do not make for a great Estate Planning attorney.
In addition to the technical and legal skills, there are two critical things that take it from competent to great. These are the ability to listen, and compassion. It is easy to gather the basic facts, suggest a course of action, and then set out to explain why it is the best way to go. But this just gets a will, or perhaps a trust. What takes it to the next level is being able to listen to the concerns of the person doing the planning. In most cases, they do not speak legal-ese. But they do speak from their heart. And it is what they say that permits the great Estate Planning attorney to go above and beyond a simple plan that puts a will or trust into place.
And finally, there is compassion. This is the ability to empathize with the client and let them know you understand what they are going through. This is the ability to let them know that what they are experiencing is normal and that they need not feel bad. In fact, if they did not need something special, that they would be unusual.
Bob Nennig has the technical skill set. But Bob has that next level of skills. Bob listens and does so with compassion. I have sent many people to Bob, and do so without hesitation, knowing my clients will get a great experience.

My wife and I hired Bob Nennig to develop a will and a living trust for our estate planning. He was recommended to us by our financial advisors and proved to be what we needed to complete our financial security package.
Bob was very professional and courteous throughout the creation of our will and trust, which took about three weeks from start to finish. We were very impressed with his thoroughness in gathering information from different sources, i.e. banks, investment institutions, mortgage companies, etc., and then preparing the necessary documents and compiling them all into one comprehensive Estate Planning Portfolio.
He also helped us true up our estate documents when we retired and sold our home in the U.S. and gave us references for estate planners here in Ireland when we bought a new home and other assets.

We approached Jordan to help us retrieve assets that had been stolen from the estate of a relative who had recently died. After our initial meeting, Jordan researched the statutes and case law and developed a plan to retrieve the stolen property. His plan was so successful that we received a Summary Judgement meaning prior to going to trial the judge ruled there was no way we could lose; the judge ordered the defendant to return the assets to the estate.
Jordan was professional and personable throughout the entire process and clearly explained what to expect at each step.

When my mother passed away, since I was living out of state, I researched options and hired Jonathon Elgin, (JC), to handle my mother’s estate as Executor and Attorney. Having recently completed a thorough review and estate planning process with Antony Eminowicz, I’m honestly not sure whether I’m more impressed with his incredibly thorough understanding of all the nuances of NYS law, or his truly amazing “people skills”. With a disabled adult child and a granddaughter under our guardianship, ours is not a simple or straightforward situation. Mr. Eminowicz walked us through various types of trusts, and made everything clear and understandable for us. After putting this process off for years, we couldn’t be more relieved. It seems that I have known David forever. I have retained him over a number of years from time to time and been very happy with the results that he was able to obtain for me. My first experience with him as an attorney many years ago was when my father retained him to pursue a fire damage claim to our family’s seashore summer house in New Jersey. In the offseason, workmen were renovating the interior of the house and, specifically, installing a new kitchen. After they had left for the weekend, a fire started in the house in the middle of the night and there was significant fire damage. David had the moxie to retain the retired Fire Marshall for the City of Philadelphia as an expert witness who confirmed David’s suspicion as to the cause and origin of the fire. Before they had left for the weekend, the workmen had decided to have a party in the living room to celebrate the end of the work week. Along with the empty beer cans, one of the workers inadvertently dropped a lit cigarette inside the living room couch to smolder for several hours resulting in the fire. In proving the origin and burn pattern of the fire, David was able to secure a sizable and unexpected settlement from the insurance carrier for the renovation company.
The latest matter that David handled for me was the administration of the estate of my late mother who owned personal and real property in the States of New Jersey and Florida. His administration of the estate in those separate jurisdictions was seamless. His particular knowledge of New Jersey income tax procedure saved me tens of thousands of dollars that my accountant was prepared to have me hand over to the tax authorities in that State. Even when the Florida estate administration became complicated by the homeowners association action to foreclose on the Florida house for alleged non-payment of HOA fees, David was able to have that matter resolved and dismissed.
He is quite a talent and I would highly recommend him to anyone.

I am a CPA in the suburban Philadelphia are, and have known David personally for over 50 years and professionally for more than 30 years. If I have a particularly complex estate or trust matter which may or has included fiduciary litigation, income, gift or estate taxation, and has litigation between beneficiaries, creditors or as against the Internal Revenue Service, I have David on my speed dial. Ultimately, these matters are referred to him, and our office has retained him on any number of related files.
Not only a good friend by his deeds, I once had to explain to my father that the reason we were good friends was that he was and is fearless, no matter the adversary in and out of business. So it was no surprise to me when he took on the fifth largest law firm at the time in Philadelphia and beat them representing a contestant in a will contest over a several million dollar estate even though his adversaries had the advantage financially and with a far more extensive staff at their disposal.
I would enthusiastically recommend him to any potential client.

After 5 years of having all paper work done I could not get my divorce through with the lawyer I had. Ms. Eichman's specialty is NOT divorce, but took my case, we had one court appearence and I was granted my divorce. We needed help writing an operating agreement for our LLC that went from a sole-proprietor LLC to a three person partnership. Rob Xides was very helpful in crafting the agreement, and getting us to think about things we didn't think about on our own. He also helped us to feel confident in setting up the operating agreement with terms that worked for us, and he didn't necessarily try to coerce us into typical attorney-like contracts. He was very understanding of our goals for our partnership.
